We just got back from a seven night Eastern Mediterranean cruise on the Splendour of the Seas. I was nervous about the trip as I couldn't find any reviews of the cruise (except for one very negative review). However, my concerns were unfounded as the trip was wonderful. There was plenty to do--even for our two children, 13 and 11. The food was deliciously prepared and presented--even the girls had no problem choosing something to eat.

The stops were magnificent--out of Venice, to Athens, Myknons, Rhodes, Dubrovnik (Croatia), and back to Venice. The stop in Mykenos was by far our favorite--we even took a taxi to a beach, and spent the day on the Mediterranean. We also loved Dubrovnik, although there was a major glitch at the port getting everyone off and onto the dock (we tendered there). We personally had no problems (we were very fortunate), but there were a number of very disgruntled travellers when we finally left port (1 1/2 hours late).

The crew works very hard to make the trip pleasant. The ship is also very clean (which is a big deal to me), and the twice daily stateroom service is much appreciated. The live shows were outstanding--there was a Big Band show that we loved so much we saw it twice in one night. There was also a Motown group that was out of this world! They were absolutely fantastic--the audience was on its feet!
