Background Information: My husband and I chose Alaska to celebrate our honeymoon. We wanted something 'different' and adventurous. I am a 26 year old medical resident and he is a 28 year old CPA. In our "real lives" we are very busy and were looking forward to our break! We had originally booked a category BE room, were automatically upgraded to a BA balcony (room 0040) and a few days prior to our cruise were offered an "upsell" from NCL through our travel agent to a AB Romance Suite for $250/pp. It was worth EVERY penny. After this trip, I am not sure I will ever be able to stay in a balcony room again!!

Hotel Info: We sailed on May 13, the first cruise of the season to Alaska on the Sun. She was scheduled to begin embarkation at 7:00pm. Our flight arrived at 11:00am. I contacted the concierge at the Edgewater Hotel and arranged for lunch reservations at their restaurant (Six/Seven Restaurant - outstanding!! My husband felt it was the best clam chowder he has EVER had...and we've stayed in the Northeast SEVERAL times) and for private sedan travel from the airport to the hotel. We also confirmed that we could leave our bags with them. The staff here are WONDERFUL and I highly recommend the Edgewater. Best of all, it is RIGHT NEXT to Pier 66, where the ship leaves from!! (In fact, we were only about 100 feet away from the restaurant once we finally got on the ship that evening!)

Embarkation: If for NO OTHER REASON, this is why we loved being in a suite. Two days prior to sailing, I received a call from NCL informing me that they were setting up a hospitality suite at the Washington convention center and that there would be free snacks, excursions, etc. I inquired if we 'had' to go (because of our previous plans) and was told no. So we went on with our day. After lunch, we walked to the pier (2 minutes!) and met up with an NCL representative. We were informed that everyone MUST check in to the ship at the convention center and would be bussed back later that evening with our luggage - on a first come/first serve basis. We were scared!! We had already been in Seattle for 3 hours and did not want to wait in line. We informed her that our luggage was at the hotel next door. We did not want to risk having to wait forever to get on the ship, so we grabbed our bags and headed to the center. Once there, we were given tags for busses back to the ship. We were on bus 19. (Each holds about 50). THEN, I saw a sign for "SUITE" people. It was heaven. Got right to the front, they switched out our tags to bus #1, and were given all sorts of other goodies. I really thought NCL went above and beyond for ALL the passengers in this area...There were very nice boxed lunches (we had already eaten, but took 2 for the road), and nice tours available. They were very informative. We arrived back at the dock and were on board the ship by 6:30pm.
