We departed New York on May 20, 2006. The embarkation was the easiest we had ever had. We were early (10:00am) and were the second couple on the ship when boarding began at 12 noon. We came in early and stayed in NJ and visited New York and relatives in NJ. We had rented a car from Dollar and dropped off in downtown NYC only 3 blocks from the cruise port.

Our room was small but tidy. The safe was low as others reported. Not bad but had to get on knees to put code in. Shower was the largest I have seen, but toilet in separate room very tight especially if you are a large person. Room stewards did a nice job but we had sheets with holes in them all week. I think Norwegian is cutting corners to save money.

Food was only fair in dining and Raffles buffet. Great is you liked bread pudding, stir fry, and pasta every day. Specialty restaurants were great except capacity was insufficient unless you booked first day. We were on a waiting list all week and never got in. Ports were great with Tortola and Bermuda being our favorites. Take the Virgin Gorda Highlights tour in Tortola and buy a one day transportation pass in Bermuda for $12 which gives you unlimited bus and ferry for one day. Great was to see Bermuda and stop where you want. Entertainment on the ship was varied and good. Bands were very good and crew was great. Food variety on buffets were marginal and organization at breakfast was poor. It took sometimes 20 minutes to get an omelet since they only made three at a time. Get to Raffles before 8:30 or be prepared to wait. Service was courteous but slow in Windows dining room since waiters were waiting numerous tables and getting bar orders as well. Bar waiters were always present but were annoying and ask if you wanted a drink every two minutes. BBQ on deck was very good every day. Hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwurst and pork chops, and ribs were excellent. Overall a good trip but the food was marginal at best.
