Sail Date: May 2006

We were three who left on May 13, 2006 out of Tampa for our cruise on the Inspiration. It was a wonderful cruise and I have not one single negative thing to say about the ship or the service we received.

Since my sister had flown in two days before, I picked up my cousin, who lives just outside of Tampa, and drove to the port. Tampa has wonderful signs pointing the direction both on I275 and the downtown roads. We pulled up at the terminal and decided that we would valet park. Parking for the five-day cruise was $60, and for an additional $10 plus gratuity to the agent ($5), valet parking was available. In my book, it is the only way to go. We grabbed our bags, waved goodbye to my truck, and headed inside the door to which we had been directed. A porter took our bags and we tipped him a dollar a bag. It was 11:30 a.m.

Just inside the door, a Carnival employee looked at our documents and directed us to the elevator. We booked a Category 12 stateroom U80. Others were being directed up the escalator. Once upstairs, we were directed to an area of the large room to wait our turn and receive our Sail & Sign cards. There was a banquet-sized table with two Carnival employees, each with a laptop, welcoming VIP guests. The other side of the room was where the other guests checked in. After a short five-minute wait, it was our turn. The angels were watching us, because both my sister and cousin had birth certificates issued by a hospital, not by the state. The Carnival agent graciously explained the difference, said they would be accepted this time, but cautioned us that these would not be acceptable in the future. I have a passport, and you can be sure sister and cousin will soon have one as well. The agent led us to another agent, who led us towards the ship. We punched in with our cards and we were on board! It was 11:50 a.m.
