Sail Date: Mar 2006

My husband and I, along with two of our friends, sailed on the CostaMagica in March. First let me say, what a beautiful ship. When we boarded, it was a pleasant surprise. The rooms were not ready so we were asked to go to the theater to sign up with our credit cards for a sea pass.

Within an hour we were told we could go to our rooms. After a long day of flying, and standing in lines, I couldn't wait to see the room and freshen up. Woe!! Our cabin was on the second floor from bottom and the minute we exited the elevator and turned the corner we were hit with the most pungent smell of sewage or something very close to it. It was asphyxiating. And you guessed it, it was coming from the service room right across from our room. We went into the room, which by the way, was a pleasant surprise. We opted for a not-so-fancy room because we wouldn't use a veranda, so this was fine. We did have a large window with unobstructed view of the magnificent ocean.

To make a long story short, we spent the next two nights and three days, that's right, calling the guest services number, but to no avail. We complained and complained; we told them no one should have to live like this. They said they'd look into it, but no one ever got back to us.
