Day 1: Embarkation We arrived at LAX at 10 am and we had prepurchased Carnival transfers. There was a representative waiting for us. After gathering our luggage, we got onto a Greyhound bus and were on our way to the Long Beach Terminal. I was very glad we purchased the transfers after I saw the LAX airport and the traffic.

We arrived at the cruise terminal at 11 am. We got off the bus, identified our luggage and gave it to a porter (tipped him $1 per bag) and then walked over to the Queen Mary for early check in. They were just finishing up with early check in but since we had Platinum check in status (Skippers club), they took us. We walked right up to the counter and checked in. My husband had his passport and I had my birth certificate and drivers license. We were given our sign and sail cards and then we were finished. We walked over to the main round building and stood in a VIP line (once again for Platinum members and Skippers club). Shortly after 11:30 am, they let our group in. We walked through the security check point and then on to the ship but not before having 2 Carnival pictures taken. It was so awesome to literally be the 20th person onboard. We took advantage of this by walking throughout the entire ship, taking pictures of everything with no one else in sight.

Shortly after noon, we walked by our Cat. 11 suite on deck 6 to find our room ready for us to settle into. We had preordered a bottle of Absolute vodka from Carnival and it was waiting for us. The room was very nice. A large balcony had 2 lounge chairs, a table w/ 2 chairs and some small tables. The bathroom was beautiful with granite countertops and nice tile work. There was a jacuzzi tub/shower with an excellent shower head. We had plenty of closet space, more than we needed! There was a vanity area outside the bathroom where you could change clothes and put on make up. In the room was a king sized bed, sofa, desk, TV, VCR, refrigerator and a lot of drawer space. ******THREE THINGS: there was no clock/alarm and only one plug that was behind the TV. I suggest a power strip and a clock radio. Luckily we brought the alarm clock but would have liked to have had more outlets.
