We cruised on the PoAM February 11-18, (two middle-aged couples) and were delighted. This was our tenth cruise, and we found it to be every bit as enjoyable as the previous cruises, which of course were not on U.S. flagged ships. I have read the reviews about rude crew members. The closest we came to that were the hostesses (or whatever they are) in some of the specialty restaurants. They did seem to be a little bit uppity and not helpful.
We celebrated a birthday in Little Italy. We had talked to the hostess in advance, and they had promised cake and singing. We got neither. Oh, well, life goes on. The crew on this ship was not as professional or efficient as those on the other ships. It was more like going to an Applebees restaurant at home, and having college students for waiters. They were personable (actually delightful), but not as polished as the wait staff on the other cruises. That did not matter to us. When mistakes were made, they were quickly rectified, and that was the end of the matter.
Our cabin was probably the cheapest on the ship---deck four, inside. We actually did not find it any smaller than any of the other cabins we have experienced. We always get the very cheapest cabin, and this one was no different than any of the others. I have read reviews about the cabins not being clean. Our cabin stewardess sometimes forgot washcloths or coffee or something (although she always brought it when we asked), but the room was always clean.
