This was our 1st cruise and we are definitely addicted! I wanted to write for 1st time cruisers who are wondering if they are going to like it. Yes, you are! Cruises have something for everybody, so don't worry. We are pretty quiet people who stay to ourselves a lot, and don't really go in for Vegas type shows, glitz, gambling, etc. But there are so many different things to do, you will not be disappointed. The food was great, the shore excursions were great, and even the shows were great! Most shows only last an hour, which was perfect because you didn't get bored and you had time to go do something else (even if it was only a nap)! If you just want to hang out in a quiet corner (plenty to find) and read a book, you can. And . . . if you want non-stop action/gambling/dancing you can get that too. But the best part of everything is that you are so PAMPERED by everyone! Who wouldn't like not cooking or cleaning for a week? With the exception of shore excursions, it only takes eight minutes maximum to get to dinner, get to a show, or get to anywhere else on the ship. You will read both good and not-so-good reviews for the various cruises. I have determined that not only do people have different expectations based on previous experiences, they also may have completely different experiences on the same ship during the same week. Unless you read something drastically good or bad, just realize that you are going to have your own experience.

Our highlights: * service from our room steward Mara (Indonesia) * service from our waiters Rey (Honduras) and Alejandro (Philippines) * Dolphin swim in Puerto Vallarta * visiting the small town of Copala during the Sierra Madre tour in Mazatlan * the Vroom show * Chris, the cruise director * Camp Carnival for our eight-year old * relaxing (although we were too busy to do much of this)

What we didn't like: * leaving the ship at the end of the cruise :-( For you 1st time cruisers, I know many of you have lots of uncertainty. On the morning after you sail Chris (the cruise director) will have a talk and clarify a lot for you. Just try to pack as light as you think you can, get on board the ship, and get ready to have a great time!
