Embarkation was very quick and efficient. My Aunt walks with a cane, so the port staff whisked us to the front of one of the lines and we had no waiting. We had arrived early (about 11:30) to the port and were instructed that though we could not yet get into our rooms they were serving lunch up in the Windjammer Cafe. By the time we had finished lunch, and greeted some friends traveling with our group, our rooms were ready.
Our room was small, but I had expected that. We were in a room for four, with a window and two fold down bunks. The first few nights out were quite rough (due to Hurricane Wilma having just passed through), and the bunks creaked and made quite a lot of noise. After we got out of the Gulf they quieted down. I was surprised with the quality of the storage. They used cheap cabinetry which was probably worn down from years of use. The drawers would slide somewhat okay when empty, but were difficult to use if you put anything in them. They weren't even full and we sometimes couldn't get them to slide (socks and underwear aren't that heavy). My roommate and I actually had to reassemble a drawer after it came apart when we tried to open it.
The staff overall on board were all very friendly and helpful. Our room steward was somewhat over zealous; evidently he thought his job of making up our room was more important than leaving us alone so we could enjoy our vacation. He would wait in the corridor for us to exit our room, and actually shooed one of my roommates out when she still wasn't ready to leave so he could make up the room. He did a great job on the room, but we would rather have been left alone with our beds unmade.
