Alrighty then here is my Transatlantic review. We just got off the boat yesterday.

This was my second cruise with Carnival and my wife's first (ever) so we went for broke and took the Transatlantic cruise. I figured why break her in on a 7 day cruise when you can do 16. A lot has been written about the ship etc...so I will not rehash. What can I say we had a great time, I would rate my value factor a 10. We are mid 40s professionals so that made us one of the youngest couples on the ship...;) I would say 98% were older, but that was great we had no kids or teenagers to contend with, just walkers and wheelchairs..;)

Rome: Didn't do it. We have relatives that we will travel with in the future for this. We stayed at the Marriott Courtyard near the airport, you can grab the bus shuttle for a few Euros outside terminal C (this is where you pick up your luggage) cross all the streets out front, upper area you will see buses. They are not marked well so you have to hunt and ask, if you arrive after 11am take a taxi, you'll have to wait a couple of hours til they get back from lunch. Next morning took Marriott's shuttle went back to the airport took a train..no worries, when you buy your ticket they will tell you what to do..where to go. We had one big roller suitcase and a roller duffel each and made it with no problem. Total cost for both 14 Euros. You do have to make a train transfer so at Tranverse (misspelled) asked the desk, don't want to get on the wrong train..;)
