Cabin: Extended Balcony

I traveled with 3 friends for our 30th birthdays We stayed in a balcony cabin on level 6 and it was amazing. This was the first time i have had a balcony cabin and i think i will struggle when i go on my next cruise in Oct in an inside cabin. However if its a decision of going or not going inside will do.The cabin was big enough for the 4 of us and we didn't feel cramped at all. When you think about it how often are you in your cabin while on a cruise. I know we weren't in there much. Shower pressure was excellent and bathroom was surprisingly big. My only thing i would complain about was 1 power point.Really needs another one in there. Check in was really quick and we were on board within 15 mins of arriving at circular quay. When we were first boarded the ship we were absolutely amazed. One of the girls i was traveling with had never cruised before so she couldn't believe that we were on a ship. Our cabins were ready as soon as we got on so we dropped our wallets and other things off and went up to La playa grill for something to eat. When people complain about buffet food i think to myself "seriously people what do you expect, it's not made to order". We did not have one bad meal in the buffet. The fruit was fresh and the desserts were amazing. There was plenty of food on offer. The cheese burgers out on the pool deck were great too as was Fat Jimmy BBQ. If you don't like buffet food you can always eat in the Dining room (Empire Restaurant)for free. The dining room was beautiful. The prawns tasted fresh and the steak was yum. I'm not much of a drinker so i purchased the soda package which is well worth the $7 a day for unlimited soft drink.I did drink i few cocktails and found the price extremely reasonable $8.50 for a cocktail that has been free poured is awesome. I should know as I've worked in hospitality. Beer prices are fairly normal. I know you cant get a schooner of beer for under $5 on the Northern beaches. We ate at the nouvelle restaurant on the last night and it was worth every penny and more. It is only $35 a head and what you get would be a lot more on land. I had the 500g scotch fillet and i would have to say that it was the best steak i have EVER had. Entertainment was great. We went to the welcome show and the new Orleans one. We went to the comedy night on the first and last night. (Clint and Dave you were hilarious). The magician came past us while we were at dinner one night and absolutely blew us away. We went to the nightclub every night and had a ball. I have been on cruises over in The US and the nightclubs don't get used but i guess us Australians love to party. The Caribbean pool party was also fun.The pool areas were great. We sat in every area. Serenity is nice however very hard to get a chair. The front pool is where the smokers are allowed to smoke but on one side of the ship only.A few people had to complain but i'm a non-smoker so it didn't bother me however 2 of my friends are smokers but it didn't bother them at all either. There is also a pool in the middle. The green thunder water slide was awesome. When it comes to children on board we had no real issues. Yes there were children running around but its up to the parents to keep them in line which most of them were doing. There is also Camp carnival for the children. I found all the staff to be amazing especially our cabin steward Ketut. The cruise director was funny and not a Knob like some cruises ive been on. All in all it was a great cruise and would go on Carnival spirit again in a heart beat. The cruise is what YOU make it. If you want to sit in your cabin and complain about the prices of movies on demand instead of being out enjoying everything the ship has to offer then i guess you wont have a very good time. We did everything we could possibly do and had a very memorable trip.
