This was my first River Cruise. The ship, the Viking Embla was new and well done. My cabin (on the lowest deck) was smaller than those I am used to on larger ships, but was nicely decorated and the bed was comfy - important after a day of sightseeing? Only negative was the small closet. The tours were informative and the guides provided interesting experiences in Germany, Hungary and Austria.

The food was very good. Enjoyed every meal. Having free wine and beer at lunch and dinner was a bonus.

An overall negative was the lack of activities on board, but that was expected. Those who need nightly production shows should avoid a Viking River Cruise. But for a mix of culture, history, beautiful scenery, great food and excellent service I heartily recommend a Viking Ricer Cruise - the romantic Danube on the Viking Embla. Am looking forward to doing another river cruise soon!

Cabin Review

Ship : Viking Embla

Cabin: 105

Small. Not much room to walk around the king size bed.

Small closet about 1/2 the size of that on a cruise ship.

Gasket seal on shower was leaking.

Room was adequate for a week.
