Sail Date: Jun 2005

We cruised on June 20, 2005. This was our first cruise -- my mom, my dad, (both 43), my brother (18) and me. We left Virginia on Sunday, June 19, 2005, to drive to Atlanta. Next Friday and Saturday, we planned to go to two Atlanta Braves games for my brother, the Braves fan, and this seemed to be the most efficient way to travel. We arrived in Atlanta and spent the night at a Best Western. The next morning, we had to fly from Atlanta to Miami. The flight was delayed and we ended up in Fort Myers (as it was stormy and too dangerous to land in Miami...and the airport ended up closing down). The plane needed to refuel and time was ticking away. Eventually, we landed in Miami-at 5:00, the time the ship was to leave. But, the ship wasn't planning to leave until 5:45 since so many people were in the same situation as us. So, we were told to take a taxi to the pier and not to wait for our checked luggage to come out, that it would be sent to Nassau. Well, turns out it ended up getting lost, and we still don't have it. But anyway, the cruise...

Despite not having ANY of my clothes, besides the ones I was wearing, I thought the cruise was great. The people at the Purser's Desk were so great, doing everything in their power to get our luggage to us (even though it never showed up). Here's a day by day report.

Day 1/Embarkation -- Well, there was no line at the embarkation station, so lucky for us, no waiting! We boarded the ship and saw the Centrum. It was so awesome! I loved the glass elevators! My parents headed to the Purser's Desk to tell them about our luggage. That gave us some toiletries and clean shirts that said "Shipshape." My brother and I watched the ship leaving Miami from the windows in the lobby. So, afterward, we walked to our cabin (5035) and opened the door. My mom was not happy that it was soooo tiny. Imagine four of us, in this tiny room! But with two Pullman beds along with the twin beds, we managed. I actually didn't mind the small space as we were only in there to sleep and shower.
