Noordam Cruise Review by mmemichele
- Sail Date: January 2013
- Destination: Southern Caribbean
- Cabin Type: Deluxe Ocean-View Verandah Stateroom
WE stayed at the HYATT place near the port . Happy to say they cleaned it up very nicely ..no more mildew smell plus nice breakfaST AND BIG ROOMS We will use this hotel again
Shopped and visited for 3 days...PERFECT
WEnt to port with hotel shuttle ...very easy
Our cabin was well located aft near elevators .I found storage space for 21 days limited but we managed .Loved our balcony and spent many hours on it reading and watching the waves until second leg .....
Our itinerary was the best .Nothing beats the ABC islands ...wonderful for shopping snorkeling and enjoying the heat Loved Barbados and Martinique on first leg
THe service on Noordam was excellent and food was really good except Pinmnacl grill ..I think the chef really missed that one ..food was downright horrid ...very bitter I thought the dining room was much better WE had anytime dining and table 133 every night and shared with different people which wasvery enjoyable WE will choose anytime again They took great care of my food allergies Thank you ASHfor being a great waiter with a smile !!!
My only beef about this trip is the smoking policy allowing CIGARS on balconies our cigar smoker spoiled our second leg He smoked nonstop and the stench filled the air and our cabin. I hope HAL will change their policy soon and join other companies in banning smoking indooers and on balconies .The Casino was horrid because it does not have proper ventilation .One night after some time there I ended up coughing all night back in my cabin. Needless to say I did not return
People played pennies in front of me to keep on smoking ....I was told Casino could not ask them to leave even if they played 1 penny .They also never had a smokefree night
I was told they were in the process of changing the policy
THe demographics of HAL are quite different in winter and summer In winter many older people in wheelchairs, scooters and walkers and many not beach people In summer many families
I loved scenic cruising in St Lucia and Martinique very enjoyable
Production shows lacked pizzaz and decor but other musical performers were fine
Adagio Strings was always enjoyable
Loved the aft pool but steel drums nonstop was a bit much I would have prefereed a little more quiet .Library was great with many books
Our cabin steward was very nice ..I loved our towel animals ...too cute for words
Will return to Hal if they change their smoking policy ...I am told soon
Loved the Southern Caribbean ...always a great choice For snorkeling nothing beats Bonaire and Dominica /s Champagne reef For those 2 stops our cruise was the best
Kudos to ASSIA at pursers office for being so nice as always
Loved our cruise now back in the cold and snow I miss it already Until next time .....
