This was our tenth cruise, eighth on NCL. This was our first time to sail on the Sun. What a wonderful ship! Certainly no bells and whistles, but truly a nice, sufficient ship. We liked the smaller size. The size, combined with a longer length cruise, allowed us to make many friends and see folks on a regular basis throughout the cruise. We were on the 11 night Southern Caribbean itinary.
The food seemed to be better than our more recent cruises on NCL. I really think they are making improvements in this area. We sailed on RCL last year. The food on the Sun seemed very comparable, if not better than RCL and our other previous cruises. Good quality, full lobster tails were served in the MDR on both Day 1 and Day 11 -- that was a pleasant surprise. We were even selected to Dine with an Officer one evening -- that was truly interesting to ask a variety of questions.
Our CC group conducted a cabin crawl allowing us to see Owner's Suites, Penthouse, Balcony, Ocean View and Inside cabins. That was a nice 'extra' for this cruise. While a bit older, the cabins seem larger than other ships we have sailed. We were in an Inside cabin. The cabin was very spacious with plenty of storage and space to spread out. (The shower is a different story.)
