Carnival Magic Cruise Review by southtexas
- Sail Date: December 2012
- Destination: Eastern Caribbean
- Cabin Type: Interior Upper/Lower
Food was mediocre at best. Buffet lines were not unbearably long, but at some times there was literally no line open (i.e. 4 in the afternoon) and all you could get was a slice of pizza or a deli sandwich. For such a large ship, this is ridiculous, and we have always been able to find a buffet line open on a Carnival cruise.
We never used the formal dining room and when we went to guest services to change the automatic add on tipping, we were treated like "second class" citizens because we wanted to give our own tips. We saw no need to give huge tips to maitre de and dining room staff when we did not utilize. The other tips we gave were more than the suggested amounts (alternative services and cabin stewards).
We would be hard pressed to recommend this ship to others, or any other Carnival cruise at this point.
However, waterpark was excellent for children, as well as the mini golf and other play areas for kids. Cabin stewards were excellent. Ship looks nice and the entertainment/comedy clubs were good. We did have a few good days, but overall very disappointed.

BeachTook a van to one of the beaches and hotels. Can't remember name. Hotel was nice. Bar was good; food good; beach and water wonderful, but not enough chairs. this was the highlight of our cruise. We usually just get an "all inclusive" resort in Cancun, but since we took 4 others with us, we went the cruise route and this was everyone's favorite destination port.View All 577 Beach Reviews
BeachTook van to Doctor's Cave Beach. Beach was okay, but very crowded. Montego Bay very over-rated. would not be in a hurry to travel to that region again. People very rude and loud and pushyView All 41 Beach Reviews
