My husband and I booked the family suite with a balcony #12522. We like the extra space, private dining, butler and concierge services that come with suites. We have previously had suites on NCL and have always had a positive experience. Unfortunately,on this cruise we were directly below a sundeck and stairway. Our nights were filled with continuous stomping, running and banging noises that went on most of the night. Every morning @ 6 am, the staff threw stacks of lounge chairs down and then dragged each chair across the deck to position it. Think fingernails on the chalk board screeching! It was the noisiest room I have ever experienced on NCL. Apparently, there is no soundproofing.
Our butler, Jojit, and concierge, Virginia, were excellent. Our room was cleaned daily by Mario, the steward, who did a good job. We have previously sailed on the Dawn and feel that it is not as well run or organized as other NCL ships. We sailed on the Jade in September and the difference in customer service is unbelievable.
Food was just so-so, even in the specialty restaurants. We dined at Cagneys for breakfast and lunch. Sometimes, the staff seemed rather challenged to get the food out in a timely manner. We would like to see a bit more variety or at least, a daily special from Cagney's. The same menu every day for 7 days is boring. We did not attend any of the shows so can't rate them. The music on board varied from excellent to mediocre. Bar service was good. The casino was OK but be prepared to lose and to be inundated with smokers.
