Relaxing, Wonderful Cruise!

Sail Date: October 2012
Destination: Panama Canal & Central America
Embarkation: San Diego
We have cruised Holland America 3 times before and were not disappointed in their 1st class service! The Statendam is a bit older and smaller than other ships but we love the lack of crowds and personal service.

The staterooms are average size... more than adequate... AND, Holland America has bathtubs! The attendants are amazing, memorizing your name the first day!

The food is first class, I have not had a better Filet Mignon in any restaurant! They really take care of you in the dining room. If you don;t like what you ordered, they will bring you something else in just a minute. The lido buffet was great, comparable to any other cruise line. The Captain was personable and incredibly knowledgeable about the history of Holland America.

Ship Entertainment was average, the guest entertainers were much better than the ship singers and dancers. My only complaint is that the staff seems to intentionally with hold info about ports of call so you will purchase their More highly inflated priced excursions.

If you want a relaxed, classy adult cruise, Holland America is 1st rate! Less

Cabin review: 408

Stateroom 408 is on the walking deck, we had an oceanview room. Average room size and ammenities. Quiet and easy access to outside.

Port and Shore Excursions

We rented a scooter... only for experienced motorcycle riders! The streets are really rough and you almost get run over by other traffic if you are not careful! Great way to see the city!
