  3. Disney Dream
This was our second Disney cruise with our young grandchildren. We entered the terminal about 12:45. EMBARKATION- This was smooth and efficient. However, at check-in we were informed that the ship would not be going to Castaway Cay because of Hurricane Sandy which was headed towards the Bahamas. ROOM- Our balcony room was clean with a lot of storage space. Unfortunately because of the rain and high winds, we were unable to take advantage of the balcony. SERVICE- As always, our dining service was excellent. Our cabin stewart also did an excellent job. Our only complaint was that our cabin was not made up until late in the day. PORTS- Because of the storm, we did not go to any ports and spent three days on a stormy sea. ACTIVITIES- Fortunately, we went on the Aquaduck as soon as we boarded. Last May, our youngest grandchild was an inch too short to qualify for the Aquaduck. This time she made it! She went on it several times with her mother and loved it as did her siblings. Then we all played Goofy Golf. I am so happy we did this since the Aquaduck, children's pool and sports venues were closed the rest of the cruise because of the rain and high winds. The weather limited many of the activities including the outdoor Pirate Show which was moved to the atrium. A cooking show for adults was informative. A pirate family game show in one of the lounges seemed like it would be fun but we had to leave because the music was overwhelmingly loud. The one activity for which I am extremely grateful was Detective Mickey Mystery. You pick up your detective badge on the fifth floor and then hunt pictures on various floors. Once found, the pictures are activated by the children's badges and they are given clues. We did Detective Mickey five times during this cruise!. CHILDREN'S CLUB- The staff at the children's club did an outstanding job! The clubs were often packed because of the weather and no port time. The staff were always upbeat and friendly. Our grandchildren enjoyed it very much. DINING- Our meal the first day was excellent. The sea bass was an excellent choice. The food was just ok the rest of the trip although the breakfast pastries were always very good. The meals in the served dining room seemed superior to what we ate in the buffets even though the same items were often the same. We had to leave the dining room before eating the final night because of seasickness. The service was always excellent no matter where we ate. DISEMBARKMENT- Because we did not stop in any ports, this was the easiest disembarkment ever! I should mention that while Disney did not return port fees, they did give each cabin a non transferrable 25 per cent discount towards a future three day cruise . If we go again, it will definitely be before hurricane season.
