We went on Liberty of the seas on Mediterranean cruise round trip from Barcelona on Sept 01; 2012.Liberty of the seas is a beautiful ship with a lot of different things to do for everyone. The promenade is wonderful with a lot of different bars and shops along the promenade. There are different parades and captain's welcome reception taken place there. The best place on promenade is the wine bar. It is the place where you can try different wine from around the world, you can get a glass, or flight of different wines you want to try and they give small tapas plate with cheese, cold cuts and crackers to go with it. The bartender is very knowledgeable about the wines and makes very good suggestions.
The ship is very clean .the shows were great, especially the ice show. The pools are nice and clean. We had inside room, it was very, very small, no place to put your suitcases, so we had to put it on the little sofa we had in the room. I don't know what happened but it used to be body lotions, shower gel and shower cups in all the rooms. After I asked twice I finally got the shower cup from the room stuart.He won't put extra soap in the bathroom until we asked for it.
But the biggest disappointment was the food. I've been on 9Royal Caribbean cruises before, including short Mediterranean cruise 2years ago and food was always great until this time. There were a lot of food, but taste was not that good. The breakfast and lunch were okay, but the food at dinner tasted like cheap diner food, not exclusive cruise line restaurant. The fish had no taste (and I ordered fish a few times for dinner), meat was not the best one either. But the biggest surprise we had on second formal night. For many years it has been any cruise line tradition to serve lobster tail and/or surf-and-turf and beef wellington on second formal night dinner. There was nothing like that on this cruise. When we asked the waiter about it he said they don't serve lobster anymore on Mediterranean cruises, because lobsters are expensive. You can order lobster but you have to pay for it.Ok, lobsters are expensive, how about beef wellington? You serve the steak, so why can't you make it as beef wellington? The waiter had no answer for that? The midnight buffet was embaressing; they had 3 tables, one with jerk pork, one with salads and one with a few deserts, which had no taste.
