Sail Date: Apr 2012
Cabin: Deluxe Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

I traveled aboard The Serenade in April of 2012 over spring break with my family. (we were a group of 7 total) We sailed from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Our ports of call were the British Virgin Islands, Dominica, St. Maarten, St. Kitts, and Barbados. They were all beautiful: the beaches in Barbados were the best i've ever been to. In St.Maarten we rode Rhino boats. It was so much fun! You got to drive your own Rhino out and then go snorkeling. It was one of my favorite parts of the trip; i really recommend it for anybody! Another perk of being in a different port every day was that if we chose to stay on board for a day, the ship was less crowded and we always got a seat by the pool. If you have many days at sea and you want to sit by the pool, i highly recommend you go out early and save seats for yourself: it gets hard to get a seat as the day goes on.

FOOD

Overall, the food was always delicious! starting from breakfast: we ate at the Windjammer most days. It was like a breakfast buffet. They had a great variety (much better than the buffets on Norwegian and Carnival ships) The food at the sit down restaurants for breakfast were basically the same thing you could get at the buffet, except you got served. Lunch: we enjoyed the burgers and hot dogs basically everyday for lunch. also the soft icecream!!! it was lovely to sit by the pool with a nice juicy burger and fries. but of course they had other things if you don't like burgers, like wraps, salads, other types of sandwiches, pastas, etc. we also enjoyed the fact that they had like a pasta bar with a few different types and a new sauce everyday. the soup in the buffet was also DELICIOUS! dinner: dinner was the best every single day. the cold soups like watermelon and strawberry were so good! don't get scared of them they are delicious! the main courses were different every night and the my time dining option worked out really well for us. the desserts were to die for! there was always something for everybody and the cakes were awesome! we also decided to go to dinner at the steakhouse one night and i have to tell you it was SO GOOD!!!!!! the mashed potatoes were the best i've ever eaten and the steakes were so juicy and flavorful. we tried to book a night to go to the Italian restaurant but couldn't get the times right. If you want to eat at one of the Specialty restaraunts i recommend you book in advance so you can get a good time! we also enjoyed the Sea View Cafe! dont miss it since it was up on Deck 12. It opened at about 1:30 in the afternoon until maybe 2 am. The snacks there were so good and so were the sandwiches!

The cabin was perfect it was a wonderful quiet balcony. It was pretty spacious for a cruise ship and it was very clean.
