Carnival Miracle Cruise Review by Cruise Guy 17
- Sail Date: September 2012
- Destination: Bahamas
DAY ONE - Manhattan, New York City - September 11
Left home 10:00am with car service to West 55th Street Terminal where we arrived around 10:30am to give luggage to porter then cleared security, then checked in and then to a large room to wait only about 15 minutes before letting us board the ship. Before boarding took the photo then on the ship by 11:30am for that first lunch up in Horatio's Cafe on Lido Deck 9 for some very good food such as beef roast, burgers, fries, chicken and much more than you can imagine for your first lunch onboard the Carnival Miracle. Drinks consisted of iced tea, lemonade, coffee and soda card (if purchased) which is good for unlimited sodas during the entire cruise at any of the establishments that serve sodas. I purchased the card and enjoyed soda now and then.
After lunch since weather was great, lounged up by pool on Lido Deck 9 since staterooms were not ready until 1 pm, so we lounged there until staterooms were reeady. Then dropped off carry on bags, looked around a bit, then shortly around 3:15pm time for the muster drill which was on Atlantic Deck 3 and you did not need to wear life jackets and drill was completed just before sailaway which was 4:00 pm. It was great weather so we watched the Manhattan Skyline as the ship sailed down the Hudson River and moment of silence for the eleven year anniversary of the Attacks of September 11 were held just when we were sailing down the Hudson River where the World Trade Center once stood. I watched the sailaway from Atlantic Deck 3 since it was not as crowded as Lido Deck 9 where most everyone goes for it.
Then for the first night dinner went to Horatio's for some good food, similar menu for dinner as they have during lunch. The desserts are good, they consisted of your usual items, cookies, cakes and more.
That was the first day so went to sleep for the night. The stateroom was always clean and every night towel animals were there with mints.
DAYS TWO AND THREE - 'Fun Days" at Sea - September 12 and 13
The weather got warmer and went for breakfast in Horatio's, good food and service. Relaxed during our "Fun Days" at Sea by walking around the decks and sitting by the pool and eating more good food. Then looked forward to next few port days.
DAY FOUR - Grand Turk Island, Turks and Caicos - September 14
The day was spent walking around the island and looking in few of the stores then relaxed by the pool at Margaritaville which was very nice large pool and fun way to spend the day. Margaritaville is a great place to relax and swim if you are interested. Then returned to ship for lunch, relaxed then dinner, then shows then another evening finished this cruise.
DAY FIVE - Half Moon Cay, Bahamas - September 15
This is Carnival's private island and our day started earlier than other days since we had to tender from ship to port which was five minute ride either direction to beach where we rented a big cabana with air conditioning and a refrigerator with some snacks then lunch on island which was very good, then back to beach for a little then returned to ship to shower, did some laundry then dinner and all in all great day for such an adventure.
DAY SIX - Nassau, Bahamas - September 16
Did not do very much just shopped then returned to ship did usual stuff and enjoyed sitting by the pool since people were off the ship. Then just relaxed then dinner and not much else there.
DAYS SEVEN AND EIGHT - "Fun Days" at Sea - September 17 and 18
These days were just spent relaxing after spending time in three ports and just relaxing more before returning to Manhattan, New York City.
DAY NINE - Manhattan, New York City - September 19
The weather was very cool arriving into port and very good views of Manhattan Skyline once again.
Ship docked West 55th Street 8:00am and cleared within 20 minutes and off the ship by 8:20am then to customs, cleared that within two minutes then off to get cab, here's where things got little crazy, had to wait outside like 60-70 minutes for cab, probably traffic but not in hurry no flights, so we took our time and were home by shortly before 10:00am.
This was a great cruise since we live within the New York City area and could be in the city within minutes and not have to worry about getting to the airport and making our flight. I would do this cruise many times since it is convenient for all of us. The ship was clean and service was good and excellent and so was the food, would do this cruise again in the next year or two that follows, Carnival Miracle is my favorite ship.
