Rhein River Lux

Sail Date: September 2012
Destination: Europe - River Cruise
Embarkation: Other
Flew to Zuriich and 1 nite at Marriott. Very nice, downtown, 20 minutes from airport. 10 minutes to shopping and dining. Avalon transfers from Movenpick at airport and well run, on time.

Transfer to Felicity at Basel and nice reception, champagne welcome, quick luggage transfer, well done. Had suite, 282 sq ft, on top floor. Full length sliding glass French door was a window to the world of the Rhein. Cruising with door open = fresh breezes and scenery.

Suite was clean, well attended, spacious shower, twins, couch, just enough room. verandas were small, 175 sq ft. With small ship everything was close, sun deck just above, club lounge in rear, dining upfront.

Breakfast and lunch were buffet style with lunch grills on sun deck as add on. Omelet station, specials, good food and good coffee, I was surprised. Wine flowed at lunch and dinner. Dinner was several courses, usually 5. Potions were not huge which was a good thing. Outstanding quality, rivaled the More best we had on the lux lines.

Great included canal tour in Strasbourg, France. Walking tour in Koblenz, Ger. Great German dinner party in Rudesheimer, Ger. which was extra. Cathedral tour in Cologne. Skipped included canal cruise in Amsterdam and paid for Van Gogh and windmill, wooden shoes, Gouda cheese tour, great.

Early transfer to AMS on time. A well run operation, congrats Avalon. Less

Cabin review: S313 Suite with French Balcony

Suite 313 was 282sq ft. About the size of veranda on ocean vessel. Well appointed and big enough. French door was great access to scenery. Good bath and large shower.
