The disappointment started in Barcelona we wanted to spend a day and a half of sightseeing in Barcelona we asked Oceania to get us a room at a hotel they suggested the Rey Juan Carlos This was a terrible choice because of its non desireous location a long distance from any central Location. Secondly the cruise line charged us 2 1/2 times the published rate of the hotel. the Biggest aggravation was that we had to be out of our rooms by 8:30 am to take bus to the ship Which we could not get to our cabins till after 3:00 pm. It seems that the entire reason for that was To sell us an overpriced 4 hour tour of Barcelona.
The ship itself was beautiful but how bad can a new ship be. The thing that was touted by Oceania Was the food and for the most part it was very acceptable. the buffet food was plentiful but I kinda Like my food served hot and this was impossible. The famous restaurant Jaques was a total dissapointment the food was good but not exceptional . The thing that disturbed me most was the French onion soup gratinee a total dissapointment I have had better at a local diner. The two venues that were good were Red Ginger(good service, hot food good presentation and very satisfying, The other was Polo also good service, hot food, good presentation. Also the main dining room was Quite adequate but not outstanding.
Thing that also seemed that every aspect of the trip was only for the convenience of Oceania
