Although it will change next year, Carnival Destiny is excellent for first time travelers. The cruise has 3 perfect ports for first timers. Read each port for more information. Carnival Destiny has a great pool and food. The only thing I didn't like was the desserts.

When you enter the ship you feel like you stepped into a Vegas Hotel. There are a lot of blinking lights and shiny metals everywhere. Enjoy the views and get use to the ship. The two decks you will be the most outside of you cabin, are the Promenade and Lido. On the Promenade you will find the casino, sports bar, disco, piano bar, and comedy lounge. On that deck is the Palladium Lounge (which takes up 3 decks). They have good shows, you have to see at least one.

On the Lido Deck you can find the buffet, grille, pizzeria, and NY Deli. The Grille is great. Wonderful hamburgers and fries are worth it. Every night I got late night pizza. You have to get that. There's nothing like pizza at 1AM in the morning.

You can hear the engine but the sites are great. Plus it's only one flood down from the Lido deck. Pefert opportunity to get to the food.
