Seven Seas Voyager Cruise Review by muly
- Sail Date: July 2012
- Destination: Baltic Sea
- Cabin Type: Penthouse Suite
We did the math before choosing Regent Seven Seas and the all included price was comparable to what we would pay on another line for the same level of amenities. While taking a chance that it would be worth the greater price up-front, we were not disappointed. The excursions were managed very well, very efficient, the destination staff members were friendly, informative and efficient. The only improvement I would like to see would be port maps included in "Passages", and a port weather report posted 24 hours in advance rather than 12 hours.
The dining was enjoyable in every venue. Food presentation was very nice and portion size was appropriate. The dining staff provided the best service ever. All staff members spoke English very clearly which was appreciated. The ladies in La Veranda were lovely, upbeat, funny, and a joy. The men were equally as attentive, humorous, and created an enjoyable environment. The Compass Rose staff were very attentive and had a few special folks that made dining something for which to look forward. "Newman" from Bali was a delight and addressed us by name all over the ship. We looked for him in every venue knowing he would make our dining a fun and delightful event whether it be informal at the pool grill or reserved and elegant. He led the servers in a rendition of "let me call you sweetheart" for our anniversary celebration.
Our butler and stewardess, Saraj and Ni, never missed a beat. They were always charming and moved in and out like stealth. Everything was taken care of without ever having to ask. They made our anniversary very special and memorable. I won't provide details so as not to spoil for anyone else looking forward to a special celebration. Suffice it to say our cabin and dining crew brought me to tears of joy.
The evening canapes were excellent and could have doubled for entrees. Compared to other lines, this was the best by far. Having a glass of wine with canapes, at dinner, an after dinner drink, all without worrying about the bill made the experience that much more enjoyable.
We love history and looked forward to the lectures. Unfortunately, the lecturer on this cruise would put an insomniac to sleep. The content was ok, but the delivery was painful. The captain was a bit of a marble mouth as well. Sorry. I know his skills are in steering the ship. However, a little expression in his voice and clear articulation would have made his announcements more encouraging.
We would definitely recommend the Voyager for anyone looking for understated elegance and sophistication, good food, exceptional service and comfort.

CopenhagenA strange combination of old and new side by side. The little mermaid is great for your scrapbook. The canal is quintessential Denmark and a photo opportunity not to be missed.View All 853 Copenhagen Cruise Port Reviews

HelsinkiHelsinki offers a little bit for everyone. As well as walking through town, the 2 cathedrals and the Rock Church, I highly recommend a boat tour around the archipelago. The scenery is quite idyllic. Every cabin has a dock and a sauna, making it quite fun to compare to other waterfront properties around the world.View All 691 Helsinki Cruise Port Reviews

RigaOur favorite northern Europe medieval town. We did the town on our own so really got to explore. Charming Riga is an accurate description. A lovely town in which to spend leisure time enjoying the shops, cafes, and architecture.View All 55 Riga Cruise Port Reviews

Rostock (Warnemunde)Beautiful countryside. Small town, but interesting history from the former East German perspective. Never having travelled to East Germany, the first-hand recollection of life under the GDR was very interesting. A very good history lesson and unfiltered account.View All 291 Rostock (Warnemunde) Cruise Port Reviews

Amber RoomA must see. The WWII mystery is intriguing as well as the beauty. How did they do that?View All 98 Amber Room Reviews

Hermitage MuseumThis was a much more comprehensive tour than one I took several years ago with another line. The collection is amazing even if you are not an art enthusiast.View All 273 Hermitage Museum Reviews
Neva River CruiseThis was a disappointment. I anticipated more time on the canals, when in fact the majority of time was on the river. Not a good use of time as the significant views were few. I believed we would get a good look at the Church of the Spilled Blood, when in fact there was only a quick glimpse between the trees. We left the boat not two blocks away from the cathedral, yet could not see but the tips of the onion domes. I asked the guide if we could do a drive-by for photos and she declined being more anxious to get us to the souvenir shop where she would get a cut no doubt.View All 117 Neva River Cruise Reviews
Peterhof PalaceA must see. Do not miss the photos of the WWII destruction at the beginning of the tour. The senselessness of war should trigger rage within the common man. The reconstruction is remarkable. The fountains and grounds are as magnificent as the palace.View All 176 Peterhof Palace Reviews

TallinnThe remaning walls and towers are interesting. The history is unique. Keep in mind, the lower town tour does not include the cathedral, which is in the upper town. The upper town tour includes a trip out to a recreated village which is a bit ho-hum.View All 795 Tallinn Cruise Port Reviews
