I am making this short, but we just got back from the Rhine River Amstercam-Basel cruise and it was absolutely GREAT! We have cruised over 20 times on Carnival about everywhere they go, on the Nile River cruises, and this was one of the best!!! Can not say enough about the efficiency of the operation from getting baggage on the ship to escort to the airport at the end...and we booked our own airfare at that!

I guess the cruise director, Rene von Loon, had a lot to do with it, as I do not know when the poor fellow slept!!! But he was sooooooo good at what he did that he just put the icing on the cake. No this is NOT a Carnival all you can drink/eat type cruise for all hours partying, but if you want to see the Rhine River and what it has to offer, with truly friendly staff and tour guides, then this is the cruise and ship for you!!!!! Strongly recommend the extra days in Lucerne also. And Rene was even there at the hotel for our assistance with this part of the package.

P.S. Do not waste your money on the extra drink package, as except for the afternoon and late night, all drinks around meal time are included. And the few you would purchase otherwise would not offset it's cost. Read more
