Sail Date: June 2012
Destination: Baltic Sea
Embarkation: Copenhagen
Copenhagen Marriott: bought room online through Priceline.com. Great deal, 100/night. You can rent bikes from the hotel, no one tells you that fact. Upon checking out, the hotel charged $400 to my account, saying I touched something in the mini-bar. Mini-bar has electronic slots. I did not touch anything in the mini-bar. I said, why $400? She said, OH, we will charge the entire contents to you! W H A T ? ?

Embarkation was a breeze, on ship at 11:30am. Staff seem happy and relaxed. Buffet as most writers say, is extremely small and tight. Make sure you go to the outside AFT to another buffet area, most people did not realize this buffet is there. At night, this area becomes the MODERNO-Brazilian Steak House. Cabins were ready by 12:30pm.

Norwegian advertising for sale items and sale flyers was not present. I had to ask several times for the 50% PRESSING of garments on the first day Dining in the Seven Seas and Four Seasons restaurant is very good, not what Cruise More Critics have said. Ask for Shona, she was in the Four Season's restaurant on my cruise.

Can NCL eliminate, "washy washy" Most of us are grown adults, not little children. Don't appreciate being talked to in a baby's voice. Ditto for the photo people.

Unlike the last 12 months of cruise critics, the food in the main dining rooms was top-notch. Temps and quality of dinners were spot on.

Brazilian Restaurant (Moderno): several variety of meats, each brought to your table on a spit. Grilled pineapple with brown sugar and cinnamon all were fabulous. Super salad bar with unusual offerings.

EAST-WEST Steak house seemed unorganized. The wait staff in the other main dining rooms were top class and quick to refill water glasses, etc.

Singing Norwegian stage performers were subpar. My high school kids could have done a better job at singing and dancing together. how about rehearsing?

Casino: limited games. Few people, very smokey, automatic card shufflers ALWAYS in house advantage. Spent a lot of time in casino...very few winners.

Augusto, cabin attendant: better late than never.

Magician and Acrobats shows were terrific. What great talents. The magician/illusionist was light years better than CRISS ANGEL in Las Vegas!

Rostock's Top 10: Great excursion. Tour guide knew her subject. Only About 35 minutes on your own. There is a train from Warnemuende Germany to Rostock. About 20 minutes long, if I knew that fact, I would have done my our self-guided tour of Rostock. Warnemuende village has numerous restaurants and shops along a canal got a haircut, lots of people. Beach is about 10 minute walk, main church, steeple seen from ship, has a 15c wood carving.

Shore excursions and Dinner Reservations are cheaper booking online vs on the ship. Save $10/booking.

Dinner in Moderno Churrascaria was terrific. Careful, the place has a few names, depending on what is taking place in that eating area. Fabulous salad bar, ton of meat (medium rare) (I had mine cooked a little more...) brought to table on different spits. Group of 80 arrive at 8:00pm, for those traveling in groups....remember other people are quietly having dinner and conversations. The dinner experience turned into the running of the bulls at Pamplona. Just plain rude and inconsiderate.

There was minimum communication on the ship to passengers regarding anything. Gone are the daily specials for the spa, pressing of laundry, mid-week "fill the bag of dirty laundry, etc. If those specials were going on, I did not know about them, nor did I receive anything in my state room advertising them.

St. Petersburg Russia: Booked the "complete St. Petersburg tour" with DenRus Company. Because the ship arrived on a Sunday, the tour for day #2 (countryside) was done on day one. A marathon was taking place and the traffic was at a stand-still for over an hour. The day was filled and we all were kept moving quite quickly. Kudos to Anna from DeRu. She was the original tour guide 20 plus years ago and said that every year, there are more and more tourists during the summer months. The federal government does very little to accommodate the number of people. Every stop was extremely crowed with pushing people. She was extremely passionate about art, her country, and being a tour guide. She claims, this is her last summer. Again, she kept everyone moving at a very quick pace, the tour covered a lot.

Vasa, Old Town and Ice Bar: excursion through NCL. Tour guide was a Mexican in Sweden. Did not know history, architecture or much of anything. He just glided through the five hours trying to charm his way through the tour. Most of the women fell for his antics.

A terrific cruise and of course ports...Highly recommend the cruise and the SUN! Enjoy. Less
