Celebrity Equinox Review

Celebrity Equinox - Great First Cruise!

Review for the Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Celebrity Equinox

We recently went on a Mediterranean cruise on the Celebrity Equinox (June 2012), and were very satisfied with the trip! We were wary of the experience, having never been on a cruise ship before, but our worries were unfounded. Essentially, everything we needed was on the ship. We over-packed little supplies, and the ship is virtually a hotel on the water, so there were no issues with motion sickness.

The procedure of check-in and check-out, as well as disembarkation in ports was great. Out stateroom, although relatively small, and inside, was adequate. (although an outside one would have been nicer...) The service in the room was first rate, the room was tidied up several times a day, and all small supplies were always there. The bed was very comfortable, and we likes the "wake-up" service. We were not far from the elevator, and had easy access to all parts of the ship. We ate breakfast and lunch in the Oceanview cafe, and never had a bad experience. All types of food was available, and plentiful. The dishes were refreshed regularly. We did not opt for a beverage plan, but the supplied beverages were adequate. (the plans were too highly priced, as were the wines and beer!) The views from this lounge were fantastic, and we could always find a place to sit. When we were on the ship for lunch, the options were also excellent, with salads, hot dishes, meats, vegetables, breads, etc... as well as Mexican and Indian and Italian choices. A large assortment, with plentiful fruits and desserts to finish off the meal! No complaints there! Dinners were at the Silhouette restaurant, and we did not have any bad experiences. If there were any issues with food or a cold dish, it was always quickly and politely replaced. The waiters were very good, as was the sommellier. We were impressed with the Eastern European staff, much more than the Latin Amer. staff (unlike another reviewer), and thought they were less intrusive, and very polite and helpful.

There were many activities each day, including talks, programs, glass-blowing demos (which were outstanding!), spa activities, etc. The 2 pools were great, but we did not utilize them much, as we had other activities. There were many places to sit and relax.
