Oriana Cruise Review by Helen Ashmore
- Sail Date: June 2012
- Destination: British Isles & Western Europe
- Cabin Type: Inside Twin Cabin
Loved the Sailaways, fantastic food ( both Evening Meal and breakfasts ) in the Peninsular Restaurant, enjoyed dressing up in the evenings, the company of the people on our table of 6, people very friendly and enjoyed the entertainment (especially Jimmy James).
Brugges was lovely, we made our own way by free shuttle bus and then train (€3-80 each return on the Sunday, with hourly trains )
Not keen on Le Havre, would probably book a tour if we were there again.
Guernsey was delightful, timed ticket for the tender over, try to return slightly earlier than the 3-30 peak queue, but this only took 30 minutes to wait for the return tender. We walked past the castle to the underground U-Boat fuel storage museum, displaying war memorabilia, very interesting, then walked back to the (Duty free shops) Our friends took a local £1 bus tour round the island which lasted an hour and a half.
We found the cruise very relaxing, the daily newsletter ensured we knew what was happening and when, so loads to keep us occupied. Already looking for another cruise, but this time with our son.
We really liked the atmosphere of the Oriana, particularly the open decks at the back of the ship, the Sailaways, with everyone singing and flag waving were a highlight.
We were driving home within 20 minutes of walking off the ship, everything was very well organised.
We hope to return to the Oriana.
