We were fortunate enough to have sailed on the Carnival Splendor on 20th May, 2012. This was our first ever cruise and as a family of 4 we were slightly nervous about whether we would like a cruise and whether it would ' suit ' or family.
From the moment we arrived at Long Beach we were suprised and excited about easier everything was. We dropped our bags off , we got our keys, we bought some pre cruise water, hats and souveniers. We boarded the ship in Zone 3 at 12.30pm and was eating a nice lunch on the Lido Deck by 1.00pm. Everything was smooth, professional and pleasant. After lunch, we had our room ready announcement at 2pm. By 2.30pm, we were ready to start our cruise and enjoyed a few hours at the rear of the ship waiting to sail.
The cruise was exactly what we needed as a family. The kids loved camp carnival ( 11 & 8 ) and we loved having time to ourselves after a long holiday travelling in USA. The comedy club was superb, in fact 3/4 of the four were top class and I would pay to see them anyone in the world. Very funny and we took the kids to the family friendly shows and they loved them. SETH was outstanding. Currently listening to his CD now and still laughing.
Room was on Main Deck. It has two portholes. It was pretty choppy the seas and whilst you felt it no one in our party got sick at all. The noise of teh anchor was very loud but most time you were awake by then anyway. The room included a double bed which was comfortable. A single bed and pull down bed. All very comfortable. Bathroom was small but adequete. Room super clean inside and out. We had 9 large suitcases and were able to store them easily under our beds etc.
