Holiday on the Seine

Sail Date: December 2011
Destination: Europe - River Cruise
Embarkation: Paris
My husband and I took our first cruise this past December with Viking. We spent a wonderful relaxing time on board the Viking Spirit and enjoyed our Christmas in France.
The Spirit is one of the older ships in the Viking fleet but it was quite comfortable and the service and staff was first class.

The meals were very good and reflected the regions we were cruising. Wine was provided with the meals and the wait staff was very attentive to our needs.

There was always plenty to do. Each day we had one or two excursions off the ship plus at night there were lectures or local entertainment in the lounge.

The staff was wonderful and tried to accommodate all our needs. They went out of their way to provide a bus ( at a nominal fee) for about 40 people who decided to attend Midnight Mass at Notre Dame on Christmas Eve and also arranged for us to take a night tour of Paris on Christmas night.
The only complaint we had was the internet service was extremely More slow. My husband had his own laptop and spent too much time trying to connect to check email etc.
We had the best cabin on the ship and it was a bit small and so was the bathroom but not uncomfortable since we were not in the room often except to sleep. The beds and linens were very nice and the bath products were L'Occitane which was a lovely touch. We are planning an extended trip for next spring on one of the new Longships. Can't wait! Less
