Seasoned Cruisers

Sail Date: April 2012
Destination: Southern Caribbean
Embarkation: Galveston
This was our second trip on Mariner out of Galveston. Beautiful ship but probably ready for some updating. Crew overall gave excellent service.
This was the first time we have experienced issues with our neighboring stateroom. We had a honeymoon couple next to us (and probably some other adjoining stateroom(s) traveling with them. They were so noisy yelling and screaming on the balcony we literally could not hear the TV in our cabin. The bigger problem was their use of marijuana every time they came onto the balcony. As soon as they came out of their cabin, they would light up and we would have to go back inside. We complained to our cabin steward about the noise and it improved "somewhat" for a couple of days. We called Security on the ship about the drug usage. We were told they could not legally search the cabin but that their passports would be flagged and they would be interviewed by customs upon return to the US. We paid $3,000 for our trip and felt we were More cheated out of the fun we could have had.

My Time Dining has been a good experience for us previously. This time however, we were led to the same table in the back by the windows-cramped, crowded, no privacy, HOT. They have tried to squeeze so many tables into the area that there is no ambiance. The food and service were good but we couldn't overlook the other things and did not return. The maitre d' phoned concerned as to why we had not been to dinner and we explained. They offered a gratis meal at Chops (fabulous!!). We ate there another night (courtesy of our travel agent). Both nights wonderful food, service was great, atmosphere quiet and refined. Probably some of the best food we've had anywhere.

Excursion-Extreme X-Rails to Jade Caverns. Don't waste your time or your money. The place was a dump, the equipment POORLY maintained, too many people on the "trail" at one time. Everything had an extra cost, and they demanded we take no pictures. Very disappointed. Less

Port and Shore Excursions

First time. Had a lovely snorkeling excursion. Reefs not quite as pretty as we expected but water was great. Went to a private island for the excursion-very nice and clean. Nice port area.

ATV Adventure

We have been to this port a number of times. Shopping is OK. See above comments in the reveiw regarding the excursion. Horrible! Total waste of money. Wish we had booked something through our travel agent (Cruise One). We've done it before and it is much cheaper, smaller group, better organized!

First time there. Wish we had done a island excursion. Look forward to going back and exploring. Beautiful flowers and nice shopping area.
