Statendam Cruise Review by julenow
- Sail Date: March 2012
- Destination: Panama Canal & Central America
- Cabin Type: Vista Suite with Verandah
The ship was under code red for the first 12 days, which I didn't mind since it was for the health and safety of the passengers.
The crew were exceptional - providing wonderful opportunities for enjoyment and entertainment. DJ Maek with his line dancing lessons, name that tune, and bingo; Lifesttylisr Jay with his endless choices of exercise: aqua aerobics, sit and be fit, deck walk, and tai chi; Jillian with her party planner activities: crafts, cooking demos, food trivia and stage competitions; Librarian David provided excellent quizzes in the AM and book club; Techspert Krista was an awesome teacher. The captain was informative and had a nice sense of humor.
Entertainers were really good: Glen the gituarist was the best we have ever had on HA.
As always the room Stewart's and dining staff were friendly and efficient.
Excursions were excellent. Panama Canal commentary very much appreciated. Didn't appreciate the over abundance of street vendors in Cartagena, Columbia.

Island TourLoved the entire experience at DePalm Island. Snorkeling was great in spite of slight rough waters, salsa lessons lots of fun and the food and drinks were terrific. Can't wait to do it again!View All 169 Island Tour Reviews

SnorkelingThe boat ride was nice, the crew very attentive. The snorkeling sucked-bad visibility. Arrived at Yalepa Bay-some took a skiff to go for a hike to the waterfall and small Mexican village, others of us went to the beach which was very nice. We were to be there for one hour due to engine problems with our boat we were on the beach for three hours. Vallarta Adventures sent out a 40 person Zodiac to pick us up to return us to the ship, which meant no drinks on the ride back. When we arrived back at the dock the Zodiac was much lower in the water than the boat, therefore. We were unable to disembark. After 30 minutes the crew finally figured out that we would be able to disembark at the municipal dock. I figured that out in the first five minutes.View All 18 Snorkeling Reviews
