When we were deciding cruise lines, we talked to a lot of seasoned cruisers to make sure we made a good choice and without personal comparison, thought Carnival had everything we were looking for! I'm in my late 30's, husband - early 40's and a 16 year old and a 12 year old. My mom had been on many cruises and recommended Carnival had something for everyone! We booked directly with the cruise line and being our first time, booked our two excursions through them as well.

FLIGHT, HOTEL, SHUTTLE - We flew out of Canada (Toronto) into Fort Lauderdale because it was a more convenient flight. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express because we knew it had a shuttle from the airport to the hotel after midnight and there was a store across the street to buy our two bottles of wine, pop and water. We booked SAS Transportation to shuttle us to the port of Miami. It was only $13.00 per person which I thought was a good price! He was late getting us but did call to say he was delayed!

MIAMI PORT - Upon arriving the port, there was a luggage person grabbing our luggage right away. Being my first cruise, I hoped and prayed she was with the cruise line because I couldn't see signs to say leave your luggage here! Our check-in was easy and before we knew it, we were on board! We went straight to the buffet. Keep in mind that you cannot get into your room right away so you have to carrying all your carry-on luggage. We got into our room within about 1.5hrs and our luggage starting arriving soon after. I have to say I was hesitant to leave the room for fear someone would scoop my luggage to be honest. I thought if they can leave it outside your door, why not just bring it in and dump it by the door?

Cabin Review

We had an inside cabin which was OK for how much we were in there. We found there was enough storage for all of us but it was tight. Next time however, I'd book a patio with 4 people. I got a view into one of them and evening with pulldowns (not over the bed), there seemed to be a lot more room. The pull-down beds at night left no room for anything more than walking from washroom to bed but REALLY...what more do you need? We brought a flashlight for night washroom breaks so the light didn't disturb everyone. The washrooms even had lots of shelves for stuff. We brought a hang over the door shoe pockets to store stuff in and it kept the room relatively clean. All the 8 suitcases fit under the bed! The pillows and beds were comfortable but my daughter did break out in a rash which I assume was an allergy to the detergent. Thankfully I brought some Benedryl! They provide soap, shampoo and conditioner. Our hair was really really dried out by the end of the cruise so next time I'll bring my own hair products. The rooms were quickly done up in the AM (done from the time we went to breakfast and came back) and done again in the evening during the short time we were at dinner! Upon requesting extra pillows, they were promptly delivered! We thought our room attendants were AWESOME!
