First RC Cruise. First Class Service but Disappointing Ente
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Port Canaveral (Orlando)
Awful! We were up 19 hours which is too much for someone not in great health. The bus ride was not bad. Luggage handles well.
Had to walk long way into terminal before getting to "Passenger Assist" checkin.
First impression was awesome!
Room nicer than expected. Had king sized curved bed. Bathroom larger than expected. Plenty of storage.
View was ok. Would have been better about 3 rooms away from elevator side. They call them "street view" I think. It was good, however, for noise control. Almost sound proof!!
SHIP IS NOT WHEELCHAIR FRIENDLY!! Every where you turned were thresholds that were hard to cross. Had to ask for change to seating in dining to find table I could get chair to. 2 ports of call had cobblestone-type streets and were very hard to travel. I learned that others had rented the SCOOTER and just parked it in the recessed area outside their stateroom and removed key. They flew More around with ease.
Shows in theater were very boring!! The only one we enjoyed was the late night adult comedy.show and the "street" shows. Carnival has much better entertainment.
The ship or someone should very clearly define the "free" areas. We were there 2 days before we realized the coffee, milk, and all pastries in the Cafe Promenade were included in our trip.
No one showed us the ship maps posted at end of corridors. I cried first night because we went wrong way to our room after dinner and I was so tired.
Loved, loved, loved the Windjammer Cafe!! Their food was as good or better than main dining room. We insisted that Guest Relations allow us to only pay the 1 person rate for gratuities so that we could tip the Windjammer crew. They are not compensated otherwise.
Drinks were much too expensive. They could cut prices from $8 to $6 and people would make up difference in quantity. We also did not realize 15% gratuity was being added so we were tipping extra first 2 days. Learned to ask for drink in a "non-souvenir" glass and saved money.
Photographers were abundant and a little annoying but the pictures were professional quality. 8 x 10 was $20 but very well done. Bought a nice frame also for $20. Great souvenir!
Absolutely fantastic. Trolly took us anywhere we needed to go. Went to 2 beaches. The food was so good and the shops were actually very quaint even though the vendors were a little pushy.
Got off boat, stayed 10 minutes, got back on boat. Enough said.
Georgetown, Grand Cayman
Wow, I could live here! Took Island Tour and Turtle Farm. Of course, went to Hell! Interesting!?? Bus driver had an attitude. Turtle farm was amazing! I actually held a big one and a little one. Advertised as 3 hours and was maybe 1 ½ hours.
What a surprise! Thought we would not like it and it was great!! Took taxi to Forum Shops because a restaurant was recommended. Las Panchos...fabulous food and REAL margaritas. Music, tropical setting, worth the cab ride. It was in Cozumel, my husband bought me a beautiful Tanzanite, silver, and opal ring.
In general, we enjoyed the trip but our next cruise will be with Carnival. We remember their cruises as being more lively, their shows more fun. Also feel that with our age and health, an all-inclusive resort might work better than a cruise. Less
Cabin review: PR7631 Promenade Stateroom
Better than expectations. Plenty of room even with wheelchair. Lots of storage. Bathroom much better than expected. View would have been better 3 or 4 rooms down (ask for Street View not Promenade) unless you want quiet. Our room was almost sound proof! Bed was great!Read All Promenade Stateroom (PR) Reviews >>
