I took this cruise with 3 other females of the same age (late 40's). The food was wonderful as was the service from staff, very friendly and incredibly helpful. The entertainment was in my opinion, very bad. I have been on 5 other cruises and went to the shows almost every night on those cruises and really enjoyed them. This cruise was very limited with their variety, talent and enthusiasm. ...
Overall, this was an excellent trip. Of course, we enjoyed some uncommonly phenomenal weather, so that set the tone for most of the trip. The pre-cruise hotel stay at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Vancouver was the perfect place to kick things off. The hotel couldn't be in a better location (at Canada Place overlooking the pier), and the accommodations and service were wonderful. Having read some ...
This was our first time Holland America line, and some of the reviews were a little scary. Ship was older but nice. Not run down, and modern decor.
I enjoy cruise entertainment, but the entertainment on this ship was pretty awful. There were a few nights of really good shows, but the others were really bad.
We enjoyed the food. The buffet was limited in selection, but what they had was very ...
If you need any type equipment by your bed, make sure you bring an extension cord. It was ridiculous how long it took, how many people were involved and what the final result was. We also had air conditioning that didn't get fixed until the last day. We had a problem with the door separating balconies that wouldn't stay closed and was banging. This happened twice and again had the same problem as ...
This is an older ship and even though they did remodel , it still needs help ie attention to details. The staff made the boat. Almost all were wonderful . Great smile and attitude . The entertainment was marginal at best. Their shore excursions are pricey and uninspiring .The problem is with HAL . We booked a 22 day Mediterranean cruise only to find out when we boarded that we were on two 11 day ...
My wife and I are retired, seasoned travelers having experienced many land and cruise tours.
For this cruise we arrived in Venice two days prior to disembarking for the Mediterranean. We spent two nites at the Rialto Hotel right at the Rialto Bridge. Our travel agent made the reservation, she did a wonderful job of it.
Our ship was the Nieuw Amsterdam. It was adequate not overwhelmingly ...
First time cruisers, will definitely cruise again, though probably not with Holland America. We chose Alaska because if we did not like cruising the scenery and shore excursions would more than compensate. We arrived at Vancouver International Airport, where we were to be met and transported to our Vancouver Hotel (Pan Pacific Canada Place, Excellent hotel, brilliant location) by HAL's local ...
My wife and I traveled on the Venice to Barcelona cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam on May 16th.
This was our third cruise on Holland America and we expected a special cruise. Unfortunately it was a disappointment.
The Nieuw Amsterdam was to have been their flagship but seemed no better than the other Holland Ships we have been on.
Embarkation – the embarkation was relatively easy however ...
Overall, we had a great trip. I did the inside passage in the 1960's, and the whole trip was foggy with cold rain; definitely no fun. As a result, we did not pre-book any excursions until we got on board and knew what the weather would be. The weather was great, so we spent a lot on shore excursions. Some were worth the price, others not so fun. We would have saved a lot if we pre-booked them ...
Great Cruise, much better than i expected. Wish more time was available in each port, that is the only drawback i found. Trying to see Rome in 11 hours is sub optimal. Kotor could easily be skipped, the old town smelled like an uncleaned kitty litter box. Stay on the ship if you must stop there. Dubrovnik old town was a real pleasant surprise. Corfu was ok. Naples was outstanding, ...
