We choose this cruise for the itinerary of several Greek islands and the Med, and also the 24 day duration, and Venice as the start/finish point. We liked the port-intensive trip. Holland America service feels quite welcoming and helpful. The food was good, but menus were a bit too complicated in the dining room for my taste. If you were a picky or ‘simple’ eater it would be hard to find ...
This is quite a lengthy and detailed review, so I've decided to split it into two sections. The first section is a review of the ship itself, and its services, eateries, and amenities. The second part of the review will cover the itinerary, our experiences in port, and the shore excursions we went on!
Having already experienced the best of Alaska courtesy of Celebrity Cruises in 2014, we ...
We have been off Westerdam on our first cruise aboard a HAL ship since 2008 for about a week as I write this in early May, 2018. In our new roles as travel consultants with we were invited on this familiarization (FAM) cruise in late April/early May 2018.
The FAM part of the cruise was a hello cocktail party, three 2 hour plus classes, a dinner together at Pinnacle Grille and a farewell ...
Embarkation:
Since we live in Hawaii, it was just a short drive to Aloha Tower. First of all, as far as Holland was concern, it was great and fast. Very friendly and they were so helpful. Now regarding security at Aloha Tower, that was a different story. They told us were to go and when we got there, they told us to go back to another place. Without getting into details, I thought TSA was ...
Of our many cruises, the one we took years ago on the Noordam is the only one we cannot remember. Having sailed her again, we think we understand why. It was a plain vanilla cruise, good vanilla ice cream, just not exciting or tremendously memorable.
Embarkation was reasonably fast and our room was ready, which was appreciated. The first glitch happened when we decided to leave the ship ...
We booked this cruise as ports looked great (japan to Vancouver via Alaska) and thought would try holland America line. Overall we enjoyed everything - staff great, food amazing, efficient off and on boat, shows pretty good. A different culture compared to our previous celebrity, princess and royal Caribbean cruises. Found the cruise to be very relaxing with lots of time to read, play games and ...
Our cruise was 28 day, Transatlantic & Baltic itinerary. From boarding in Ft Lauderdale to leaving the ship in Copenhagen everything went well. The cabin stewards were attentive, the wait staff in both the Lido and MDR were exceptional. I'd like to say we ate in one of the alternative restaurants, however the food was so good in the MDR, we never felt the need to eat elsewhere. The music venues ...
It was a transatlantic crossing that included a stop in Normandy, both Bucket List items. This was our second cruise on Holland America. The crossing was wonderful, calm seas and great weather. We enjoyed Beginner Bridge, the Art Auctions and the gym. We met wonderful people from all over the world, many who have cruised on Holland America exclusively. We took shore excursions in England and ...
did the round trip from Rome to the greek isles April 21 thru May 1. all ports were beautiful and interesting. My only complaint would be that there needs to be a sea day in the middle of the cruise. 5 port days in a row with long days on shore was tiring, would be nice to have a sea day in the middle to rest and recover.
Food was outstanding in the MDR and the specialty restaurants. In ...
We chose this cruise for the itinerary and loved it. we only did the 11 day Mediterranean Dream. Konigsdam was a beautiful ship. We had an inside cabin on deck 8 and am not sorry we did. It had plenty of storage, an awesome bathroom/shower. No lack of electrical outlets or USB ports. The dining venues were all excellent we especially loved the Tamarind and New York Deli. We bought the 3 venue A ...
