We chose this cruise for itinerary, and that it was a new ship, and the price is quite low - but it was awful. Overall, I have to say that it take finesse to manage these big ships in a way that make the passengers think they're having a good time through the day and night, even though they are occasionally waiting in lines etc. The big American lines manage these things well as a rule, but MSC was a total mess. No queue systems, so there was a big crowd shoving forward at any opportunity. I'm honestly amazed people weren't physically trampled at times. Everything was a total mess, nothing was explained, and half the staff would look at you like you were an idiot for not knowing how things work on their ships. I've been on 4 other cruises and this was all different, but they assume that the passengers know the way it is, and are really rude if you don't. Part of the yacht club perks is the ability to queue jump, but in practice this doesn't work. If you can walk past a distressed family with screaming children and crying mothers (overheated and left standing in 40 degree heat with no help, shade, or anyone who gives a damn), just because you paid a bit more for your cabin, you have a stronger stomach than me. I couldn't do it, even when it did work, it was just too awful to do. Food was average, and this was in the best part of the ship, so I imagine it was pretty bad in the normal restaurants and buffets. The pools were really crowded and grubby by the end of the day. Everything is charged as an extra - which gets really old even things like in room movies, and given the lack of decent or varied entertainment on board, providing movies should be the LEAST they can do. They even charge to use the gym, which is so dumb. And the excursions were AWFUL! A giant mess or disorganisation and wasted time. Luckily we'd been to many ports before so did our own thing. But the two excursions we did had so much standing around and wasted time. The staff were great in the yacht club, and awful everywhere else. The reviews were awful and spot on - but sadly we were already committed. Back to Princess for us, and fingers crossed this hasn't put us off cruising for life! NEVER AGAIN! Read Less

First off, when we arrived I checked the sheets/bed as I always do and found tons of hair in the sheets. The bed was made so I’m confused as to how there was hair in the sheets? Did they remake the bed but not change the sheets?? I called guest services to have the sheets changed. Room was not very clean. I dropped my chapstick on the floor on the side of the bed and when I picked it up, I also picked up hairs and other debris along with my chapstick. You could tell they don’t move things around then they clean and only clean the visible areas. Customer service was terrible. On the first day, our waiter didn’t even tell us his name or do the usual introduction. We didn’t encounter any friendly workers on this cruise. In our past experiences, the workers have been very friendly and outgoing and always willing to talk. At the very least, I expected them to be friendly. They say they accommodate for gluten free. I filled out the paperwork over a month before & even called them to confirm this. When I arrive they tell me that the buffet isn’t safe and I should only eat on the MDR. This being a European cruise with a daily stop, we had an excursion every day so when we came back, the dining room was closed for lunch. This left me with only the buffet which I was told wasn’t safe for me to eat. I had to starve until dinner time because of the high risk of cross contamination. I attempted to eat at the omelette station for breakfast one day before a tour and got terribly sick. The breakfast times didn’t always work out with tours either. On our LAST day I was told that there were gluten free lunchboxes that I could request to take on excisions. Why wasn’t I told about this on the first day!? All I was told repeatedly sad that the buffet wasn’t safe and to eat in the MDR, even though I repeatedly told them that I had tours and came back after the MDR was closed. They didn’t make an effort to make special meals for me or try to accommodate for me when I would come back from a long tour which was during a heat wave mind you, so I was starving! I purposely chose MSC because I read all about their gf options. I feel completely blindsided and lied to. There’s nothing worse than feeling like you cannot eat safely on a vacation! Furthermore, the excursions are not organized at all, you would think that they would be considering they do the same thing every week. None of them left on time and we had transportation issues with two of our buses. The ac broke down on two buses, both in 95 heat!! And I felt so terrible after the second time because we were driving and then waiting in the hot bus for I don’t even know how long. I was sick the entire night and then had to go to the emergency room in Rome the next day because I had severe heat exhaustion and required an IV and antibiotics for my high fever and heart rate. It’s clear that there isn’t required maintenance on these vehicles which is very unsafe, especially during the current heat wave in Europe! The tour guide was exceptionally rude and told us to shut our mouths and wait for another bus. Multiple people felt very sick and I’m sure I am not the only one who got severe heat exhaustion. Overall, it was a terrible experience. I deeply regret choosing MSC and would never cruise with them again. Read Less

We wanted a quick 7 day cruise around this part of the Mediterranean and the MSC Seaview fit the bill, date-wise and timewise. Wish I had read the reviews first. It was only a short cruise so we shouted ourselves a suite but a suite on MSC is basically a family cabin with zero amenities. We didn't even get a bathrobe. The cabin was dirty and smelled (due mostly to the water in the bathroom), the room attendant refused to make the beds up during the day "as there is no room" but we had been travelling for 24 hours and needed a nap. When we made up the beds ourselves, we realised it was because the sheets were all torn. The drinks package had changed since we booked it and we were now entitled to 2 drinks from the low range of the menu, instead of the full-range we had expected. The food was okay but the temperature in the buffet was predominantly cold - except for the hash-browns - they were always hot and delicious. The staff seemed unhappy and it was a remarkably poor cruise experience to what I have had in the past with other companies. I would not use them again. Read Less

Oh where to start??? I got on this cruise with high expectations as the ship was new and everything about it seemed to be brillant...couldn’t be further from the truth!! The ship itself is lovely and the staff are good but that’s where it ends!! The entertainment on the ship is laughable, the shows in theater are just repeating themselves, the shows out in the Atrium are the exact same, different costumes but same head melting dance music! The lack of entertainment on the ship is ridiculous, even if you didn’t like the show you still went to it as there was nothing else to do! The food is buffet was okay but the system is ridiculous,no lines or queues and people just barging, hated it! Our room was a suite which was nice but we were at back of the ship and every morning when ship was docking at half 6 the vibration woke us,we were absolutely shattered everyday! So many things on board cost extra aswell! It was just one thing after another and I for one will definitely not cruise with MSC again,Royal Caribbean is 1000 times the better cruise!! Read Less

Organization was chaotic, service generally poor! Staff gave misinformation all the time, on one occasion, because of desinformation, we had to go theough multiple queues and run around the ship for 90 mins to rent a stroller! The opening hours of the kids club were nonsense and hectic, not plannable! Weird that parents did not have access and insight to the room where we were supposed to leave our kids. Also it was seriously understaffed, there was mayhem and queing all the time. Consequently staff was overwhealmed and RUDE, exacerbated by poor English skills. The ship is nice but totally not child friedly. The buffet restaurants were way too crowded, understaffed and running under capacity, resulting in extremely bad dining experience. Food in the restaurants was variable quality, so not impressed at all. Wines we ordered were repeatedly and constantly out of stock. Bars were understaffed hence service was extremely slow and cumbersome. Despite we had Aurea and all incusive, we ran around thirsty all the time because of the slow service (had to wait up to 30 mins for a coffee etc) Our whole family was very disappointed and we definitely don't plan to come back to any of the MSC ships. My husband and I sailed on the MSC Seaview cruise in the Western Mediterranean from April 17 to 24, 2019. We have enjoyed dozens of cruises around the world on other cruise lines. This was our first time with MSC Cruises, and by far, it was the absolute worst cruise we have ever been on. First, upon walking into our ocean view cabin (#5171) on the first day of the cruise, we were assaulted by the stench of the foulest sewer smell imaginable. The smell was inescapable - it permeated every corner of the room, it was on every piece of furniture, on the bedding, in the carpet, on the towels, it was everywhere. We reported this problem to customer service right away, but we were told there was nothing they could do, the ship was fully booked. We had to live with this stench for the entire length of our cruise. The cabin had no windows or doors that could be opened to bring in fresh air. It became a serious health hazard for me. I developed migraines, I was severely nauseated, I vomited several times. My husband and I could not breathe at night and we could not sleep. Every day we reported this situation to customer service and each time we were told they could not do anything. On the fifth day on our seven-day cruise, a customer service supervisor used a chemical spray in the bathroom, which did nothing to get rid of the sewer stench. It only added a strong chemical smell on top of the awful sewer stench and it worsened my already poor health. Second, MSC Seaview was woefully understaffed. With over five thousand passengers, the ship only had two customer service counters and a maximum of six staffers handling customer service requests. This created unbelievably long queues at the customer service counters and a lot of frustration among the passengers. Third, we have never been on a ship that charged its passengers for drinking water during dinner or forced its passengers to buy bottled water. I understand charging customers for alcoholic drinks, but to treat drinking water like a luxury amenity on a cruise is beyond ridiculous. We have never encountered such a "nickel and dime" company such as MSC Cruises. Fourth, for a ship that bills itself as "one the most innovative cruise ships touring the world," we found the onboard dining experience exceptionally subpar. At every meal, the food seemed to be jumbled together with no thought to presentation or organization. We've had better dining experience at our local McDonald's. The bottom line is, our experience onboard the MSC Seaview was the absolute worst we've ever had on a cruise. We will never recommend MSC Cruises to anyone and we will never take another MSC cruise ever again! Read Less

Due to the fact that this ship is new and luxurious, we had high expectations for our vacation. But it ended up as the worst cruise service we ever experienced. Unprepared crew, no knowledge of what's happening at the ship, and always with a bad mood (with few exceptions). Attendants of the bar always busy, causing waits of up to 10 min for a simple beer (which was sometimes, warm). Food is the worst, breakfast has always the same options with low quality coffee. Lunch is basically hamburger, hotdog, fries and pizza (2 or 3 flavors). If you want some meat during lunch, there's only one location serving it, with at least 20 people on waiting line. Dinner is even worse, the options are always tasteless and repeated, ingredients are not as good as expected from a cruise service (if you order a steak, don't expect a juicy thick one, you'll receive a very thin tasteless overcooked). Elevators were pure pain, always slow with an automated system to distribute load that does not work. Cabin was good but the bathroom was a bit small. Entertainment shows were good, but the cruise didn't offer trivia/quiz/sports activities The ship has never landed on "Buzios", one of the main ports to be visited, always claiming bad weather (even though there were no clouds in the sky, and a quick google search indicated weather was perfect). TouchScreen totems and smartphone applications were really usefull for managing what to do and how much money you have spent. If it was possible, I would ask for a refund. After this cruise I'll stay away from MSC cruises and stick to Royal Caribbean (the best company so far). Read Less

This ship has the worst crew and the worst food. Stay away from MSC. I would recommend any cruise line over MSC. BCL, Celebrity, Royal Carribean, Princess, Carnival, Oceania, etc. Food is salty, listers quality possible. If you like bad pizza breakfast lunch and dinner along with hot dogs this cruise is for you! If you want the typical shrimp, lobster, escargot and smoked Salmon his cruise is not for you. Dining room service is rushed with absolutely no flexibility. If it’s not on the menu you will not get it. Everything is processed with salt solutions. Salads are soggy. Fish of the poorest quality along with 2 to 3 ml thick salted steak. Buffets are the same everyday! Tilapia, pizza hot dogs, terrible desserts. If food is important then don’t come on MSC! It’s rare to find a helpful person. Bar service is good but it’s hard to no get sick eating the food. The MSC Seaview was a nice ship. But the 'niceness" ends there. This was hands down the worst cruise we've ever been on. We sailed on the newest ship, Seaview departing from Barcelona to Marseilles, France then Genoa, Italy, Naples, Italy, Messina, Sicily, then Valletta, Malta from 11/2/18 through 11/9/18. They charge for EVERYTHING. The service was awful! The staff was rude!!! The food was horrible. The only food that was barely edible was the food in the restaurants that COST extra. The food in the main dining buffet was almost inedible. The staff (ALL of them) acted like they were doing us a favor by even responding to a request. They rolled their eyes, smacked and curled their lips when asked a question. I've been on Royal Caribbean and Carnival cruises several times. I'm not new to cruising. This was astonishingly horrific. Then they had the audacity to charge us $10/person/day gratuity. We demanded that they take that off of our bill (they did). Don't waste your money on this cruise line. If you're expecting American-style service and support, you'll be sorely disappointed. Read Less

We were celebrating our honeymoon, as we boarded the ship the staff came across as rude and judgemental. After trying to ask for help to locate where we needed to go we had to ask 3 people, one less helpful than the other. Since we have heard only good things about cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean, we decided to give MSC a chance, what a mistake. The food was disppointing, breakfast was okay, lunch was the same thing everyday and dinner was a mix of leftovers and an attempt to cook! DO NOT purchase the laundry package! We made that mistake. Something so simple ended up costing us a day we should have spent touring and sightseeing, because we had to deal with the laundry service. They decided to shrink and discolour our clothes (value $500 euros). We went to reception letting them know. Only for them to say we’ll send someone to your cabin to solve the issue. We waited an hour for someone to come and nothing. So we called reception and they stated they would send someone right away. And we waited another 30 minutes. After arriving to our cabin he said it can be fixed. We were both confused because once something has been shrunk or discoloured there is no fixing that. He took the clothes and said give me one hour. The hour came and went and no sign of our clothes. Another phone call was placed and our clothes were finally then returned. All they did was refold our clothes. Needless to say nothing was resolved, so back to the reception desk we went. Again they said they couldn’t help us that we had to call Customer Service when we got back home from the trip. Which I did and they are only giving us back $150 u.s dollars with the purchase of the laundry package in that total. By far the worst trip experience we have had. If you read this save your money or spend a little more and go with Royal Caribbean! Thank you for ruining our honeymoon MSC! Read Less

Firstly I wished I found this website before i booked!!!! Wow we have been on many a Royal Caribbean cruises in the past, but we booked this after watching a very luxurious video on MSC website. We thought that this was going to be opelent, luxurious, classy and extravagant cruise seeing as that's what the video to us. Having paid alot more then we usually would, treating ourself to a jacuzzi room and we were told drinks were all in we were so excited. We were wrong our cruise company got it wrong apparently we didn't have the deluxe package for drinks of course that's started us off badly having to pay the extra €198 each. That way my husband could have a better choice of beers and I could have more options of cocktails and s baileys. What a disapointmet, yes the ship is beautiful but lacking what in my book is no1 customer service. We have never felt so unwelcome alone and miserable by the way we were treated on this ship we my husband and I couldn't wait to get off. All the staff were miserable no one would look at you or ask if you needed anything or help. There was never a good morning or evening nothing. No one is ever made to wash their hands when going into the restaurants,it's disgusting no wonder theses ships get poorly. It's a health risk. This is a must why do they no take this on. Royal Caribbean make everyone who enters resturaunts to wash their hands someone stands there. The food was boring every night in the dining room, the same food just a different flavour. The 4 nights we did eat here at golden sands we waited over 2 hours for 2 courses. Seeing as it was all luke warm or cold and waited so long we did the buffet a couple of nights this wasn't much better pizza and chips.....again samey every night too. We had a rude waiter when we asked once if someone could clear our plates because they had been sat there for half an hour we were told no... I thought he was joking actually he wasn't. I have never in all the cruises I have been on have such bad attitude, rude argumentative, unapproachable customer service like it. Including receptionist, waiting staff, bar staff pool attendants every one was the same... what is that about? why is everybody the same. It made us feel awful, the boat had no life or soul no happiness no life. Do not get excited about the formal night, was a waste of me taking my long dresses. Because actually they called it elegant night, I understand not everybody wants to get dressed up but my husband and I changed twice because thier elegant night was trainers, shorts, flipflops baseball caps and t shirts in the main dining. We were all sat so close to one another, we were on laps most of the time. Ice cream were very nice this we enjoyed for our dessert every night seeing as waiting for an ice cream in the restaurant always took 30 minutes and had melted. Except one day at the Panama pool I was put off when I saw hairs in it the coconut ice cream. The 3d simulator the bowling and zip line is at a fee, all other ships are always free when ever we've been on royal Caribbean.... wow you really should try taking your team and trying your competitors for cruising see how they do it The sun loungers are dangerous, as they kept collapsing with people on them. There's so much more to write. The very worse thing about this cruise is that before we went on this, all my family and i stupidly booked a once in a lifetime holiday cruise to Dubai and around the Emirates but it is on the spendida for December 28th. After reading reviews from that ship, on this site its like reading my own all the same thing. The terrible customer service, the awful food, even reading a cleaner using passangers toothbrushes to clean toilets!!!!! Oh my gosh I'm heartbroken as we will all lose the money if we cancel. So we have had to suck it up and still go. Read Less

First cruise, beautiful ship, spotless, staff mostly friendly with a few exceptions. Food ok, good buffet selection when you manage to battle your way through. Way too many children running around, felt like a holiday camp on water! The specialty restaurants appear to be almost empty.. they are very expensive. Cabin was very comfortable but being on deck 15, we were directly underneath the Ocean View buffet so from 07.30 and continuing all day, very loud noise from chairs scraping on the floor and thumping of people walking around. Requested to move but abruptly told that there was nothing else available. This noise made it impossible to enjoy the balcony also. Found the entertainment lacking except for the theatre shows which were very professional. Not enough adult only areas. The over 18's bar was closed for private functions on at least 3 occasions. If we had a quieter cabin and less children on board we may have had a different opinion but disembarked feeling like we needed a holiday to recover Read Less

Had a terrible experience where our MSC airport transfers did not turn up. Was made to pay for a taxi and was then told was my fault as the luggage was delayed at Barcelona. Also cabin attendant threw away a protective dust bag for a very expensive hand bag thinking it was rubbish that was left on the SOFA. Therefore staff have clearly been touching items in the cabin they shouldn’t, as a small gold ring had also gone missing. Since cabins are cleaned twice a day it is impossible to remember to lock everything in the safe and anyway the safe is not that big. Food was good but service was very poor as the waiter for our order wrong 4 nights in a row and then felt like we was being rushed for the next meal sitting. Not something I expect for paying nearly £3500. MSc sea view is supposed to be there flagship ship I wish I had chosen royal Caribbean now. My family and I have been on many cruises in the past and thought this one would be equally as pleasant as the others. THE GOOD The ship is new, clean and nicely designed. The food was good. The crew were fine nothing negative to say - although not as customer oriented as RCL, Celebrity or Norwegian. The highlight on board the ship was our daily visits to the Coffee Bar - Jason made everyday excitng for us. He was AWESOME!! Always professional and polite everytime we visited. Embarkation/Debarkation - Very good we were on and off the ship in no time. The ports visited were great - the best for us was the boat ride to Portofino THE BAD - Sadly this is where the good ends Everything seemed to be semi normal until they demonstrated just how heartless (Excursion Department Staff) they truly are. In Messina, my family and I went on a MSC bike tour. The drivers there are very reckless and I was hit by a car on the bicycle and injured both my leg, arm and severley bruised from the impact. The two tour guides attempted to bandage (first aid kit) me as best they could but I was still in pain and bleeding a lot. The tour guide then said it’s best we find a way to get her back to the boat via taxi. Thank goodness, there happened to be a good samaritan who witnessed the accident and offered her assistance while we waited for taxi services. My husband with the help of the tour guide was able to secure a taxi to get me back to the ship but was told it was our responsibility to not only pay for our way back we also had to pay for the tour guides fair and cargo for all 3 bikes to return to the ship. MSC Excursion Department had absolutely nothing in place to handle emergencies and offered zero assistance outside of the first aid rendered with the temporary bandages from the tour guides. Upon arriving back to the ship my husband paid the taxi driver as we wanted to get to the Medical Center onboard the ship as soon as possible. However, the medical center was closed (port day) when we arrived back on the ship. We then met with the manager of the Excursion Department who seemed very unconcerned when she approached me and my husband. The only think she did was a make a phone call to the nurse upon our request to see if there was anyway I could be seen prior to 4p (when the center reopened) and we were told by the manager if we paid additional money the nurse would see me. At this point it was only a 2hr wait and I told my husband I just wanted to take something for the pain and lie down. The manager walked off and we were then given forms to complete, I then realized at that moment no one had any information from the driver he was just allowed to leave without a written statement. I was also asked to fill out a medical waiver form, which I refused to complete given at no point was any type of medical services offered by MSC or MSC Excursion Department - we requested all the services that I received. We later returned to my cabin and waited until 4p to see the medical staff regarding my injuries. On a much more happier note, the staff in the medical center were very professional and courteous. Although, this was yet another cost we had to incur we felt everyone there showed compassion and empathy. The doctor accessed my injuries - cleaned and bandaged my wounds. Because I was injured, my husband and my daughter returned to the excursion desk and asked if we could cancel the reservation for our excursion the next day given the accident. The woman at the desk exclaimed that she could only refund the amount of the two tickets for me and my husband but refused to issue a refund for my son and daughter. The manager actually said, they had already done enough for us and she was only refunding the 2 tickets as a courtesy. Unbelieveable!!! Now the twist in this entire tragedy is that the excursion in question (that we wanted to cancel) is one that we never wanted in the first place. We only booked it because the Excursion Department cancelled another excursion that we had at the last minute because we speak English and there weren’t enough English speaking participants. And by the time we were notified of the cancellation, there were no other excursions available in our interest because it was last minute. We have traveled all around the world and this was our 9th cruise. On a scale from best to worst this cruise experience was the worst for my family. It could have been better but the Excursion Department and how they handled my accident and totally disrespected my family made this entire experience horrible. I am back at home now and recovering from my injuries but learned a valuable lession through all of this. Trust your gut feelings, I was hesitant about booking this cruise line due to all the negative reviews posted mostly by American travelers - I recommend for anyone traveling anywhere DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!
