We chose this cruise since we were going with a group of 22 people. Now the issues started since half the group was booked in Aurea and the other half in Yacht club. We booked far in advance so the difference in price was nominal but knowing what we know now, it would have been worth the upgrade to Yacht club. The biggest differences we noted was the priority elevator on the ship for Yacht club guests. Of course this is not all elevators but it helps when you are on a ship as frequent cruisers know on busy evenings. Priority exit and entry off the ship at most ports and when you exit your butler brings you down via a separate exit so you do not have to be jammed in line with everyone else. Slides are included in Yacht club not in Aurea. A larger selection of alcoholic beverages. The list just goes on and on. It would be nice if MSC would give travel agents all these details when they book the trip to avoid negative reviews OR at least post it on your website. We did check the online difference and all we saw was frivolous differences that were noted such as the quality of the pillows which for us was not important since we did not plan on spending our holiday sleeping. Now this is definitely not a cruise for kids. We had kids on the cruise ranging from ages 10-16. All of them agreed that this cruise does not stand up to Norwegian or Royal Caribbean standards. Every time they went to join an activity such as basketball. The ball was never there and nobody was there to help them get a ball. Activities in teen/kids club were minimal and were not always done since staff would always have a poor excuse. Plus customer service is definitely not a high priority throughout the ship. We had 2 occasions where we ending up having to yell at onboard staff just to get issues they caused addressed. For example, our prepaid tour tickets were missing from our cabin the night before so we went down to retrieve them ourselves from the ticket counter. However, we pulled up to the counter at 11:00pm on the nose and the lady behind the counter did not even ask what our issue was. Immediately she said we are closed!! My husband said no you are not since we are missing tickets for our offshore excursion tomorrow morning. After a lot of back and forth someone finally took ownership of the situation and wrote us tickets for the next morning! We are so glad we insisted because of course every where we went the next morning they asked us for the tickets! Issue number 2, on our one sea day I was too ill in the morning to leave the cabin so we left late in the afternoon. We were going to enjoy some sun in the Aurea Lounge. However, little did we know the sun loungers in the Aurea section can be sold until they are full. This means if you prepaid for Aurea do not count on a seat unless you get out there early in the morning. Yacht club members access can also be bought same day but it is done so in smaller numbers. Any way once this happened to us in Aurea the guest services manager could not apologize enough. Really she was the only person onboard who cared about what image we would be left with. However, really it should not come down to this. You only get one chance to make a first impression and MSC failed us!! MSC ships sparkle but customer service is horrible in all areas. "All that glitters isn't gold!" Read Less

It would help if food had s “v” label as very difficult to figure out what was veggie. Very Limited choice. Room service offered garden salad or fruit salad. Veggie main course at dinner was humous and pitta. Really Need to update menus..., this is the 21st century! Staff who dealt with excursions were very rude, serious lack of customer service. Ship generally looked good. But less deck space compared to other ships. Cabin was a good size and comfortable and entertainment in the theatre was very good too. For such a large ship the general entertainment outside the theatre was very limited. Seemed to be significantly less staff to guest ratio compared to other cruise lines and so less attention to detail e.g. no waiters, and things running out at the buffet and not replenished. Staff seemed disgruntled and unhappy. Not experienced that before on a ctuise ship (usually staff are very professional and do not share any problems with customers). Based on this experience I would not book MSC again. Read Less

The ship itself is beautifully designed, with amazing detail in the furnishings. Everything was clean and shiny. The staff that we encountered was helpful, in particular our cabin steward, Jason. The pool areas were never crowded, and it never felt as if there were 5000+ passengers sharing the ship with us. We traveled with my 10 year old daughter who loved the pools and the slides. The shows were great entertainment for all ages, with a very talented cast. The food in the buffet was good, although it got very crowded at times. We ate dinner in the Silver Dolphin about 4 times and the service and food was excellent. Embarkation at Marseille was very smooth - we didn't have a very long wait at all. All cities were fairly accessible from the port, except for Barcelona and Marseille, where you have to get a bus/taxi/Uber into the city if you don't feel like walking for miles and miles! We did not do any MSC excursions, but rather chose to walk around and get the feel of each city, or do a hop on/hop off bus tour. Our major complaint about the cruise was the lack of personality. I still have no idea what the Cruise Director's name is, as no-one was ever formally introduced (except for the Captain). They spent so much time on rattling off announcements in 6 or 7 different languages that they didn't actually have time to interact personally with the passengers. We were also disappointed by the lack of a more formal dance floor/area, and the dance teachers were not up to standard. There was also very little onboard entertainment, like fun games, quizzes, etc, even on the sea day. Overall it was a fantastic adventure. We got to see places we have only ever dreamed of, and had a very comfortable cruise. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the pricing, because it was a large, new ship, and because of the ports of call. We had never been on a MSC cruise before, but knew from other reviews that the standards might not be up to those of the more typical cruises that we have been on. We have sailed on 23 cruises (Carnival, Norwegian, Princess, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Holland America, Cunard). We went into the cruise with no expectations. Embarkation were very easy. The Seaview embarks and disembarks passengers in every port. The biggest disappointment was the food. We are not fussy eaters. The breakfast buffet and dining room were adequate. There were 2 buffets to choose from. Generally we were able to find a seat. People of other cultures don't always understand how Americans do things and this leads to unhappy people. Generally there were no buffet lines. Everyone just reached in to get what they wanted. We did not eat lunch, but in the evening we were in the main dining room at early seating. Because there were 3 dinner seatings, after 1 and 1/2 hours they would turn the lights on and rush you out. The selection was not very good. There was very little beef and when there was, it was very tough, as was the veal. Appetizers and desserts were fine, but the main courses were poorly prepared and not up to the quality that we have had on every other ship. They wanted you to buy the specialty dining and/ or a steak at the main dining room for 18Euro. There were several odd and unexpected things. Coffee was free at breakfast and dinner in the dining room, but not at lunch (without a fee). There were decaf packets at breakfast, but you could not get decaf at dinner in the main dining room. Juice in the buffet was only served in the morning and evening. It seemed like everything was extra. They did not serve table water-only bottled water and that came free with our Bella booking, but we could only get it in the dining room at lunch and dinner. The wine was very reasonable and there was a very large wine list. The entertainment was an interesting mix. There were three 35 minute stage shows with singers and dancers every night in the theater. They were all strange. I was a dancer, so I enjoy watching stage shows. If you looked at each show as a Variety show with non connecting theme, you might be happier, because some shows made no sense. There were a lot of acrobatic acts thrown into shows. Ex. Chinese acrobats posing in the middle of the Flamenco show. The dancers were Ok, but some of them were not trained well, and there appeared to be not a lot of precision required. The costumes were beautiful. The singers appeared to be Opera trained, however much of the time, the sound was too loud. There was no orchestra to accompany any stage show. My husband and I like to dance. There was only one full band. They were quite good. All of the other music venues had one or 2 musicians that played with recorded music. There was a huge atrium with stage and screens. It was VERY glitzy--mirror and lights. The music there was pretty constant and there were not many places on the ship where you could have quiet space. Every announcement is done in 5 languages, however there were a lot less announcements. They had a recreation staff that I mostly saw in the evenings trying to get people to dance. There were theme nights and these people wore very strange costumes. They had many kinds of dance lessons. Many done in the band break in the evening which was good. There were a lot less sales, no art auction, not many "specials" and constant selling of things. The elevators were slow and often crowded. Many of the things cost extra (bowling, zip line). There were no English books in the library. There were a lot of smoking areas that worked well. The pools were small for the number of people, very little shade, and not much quiet area. The ports were excellent. We didn't go on any excursions. Getting on and off the ship was very easy at each port. It was not a bad cruise, but it definitely had a more worldly feel. I would probably only go on another MSC if the price was exceptional and the ports were spectacular. Read Less

Firstly I wished I found this website before i booked!!!! Wow we have been on many a Royal Caribbean cruises in the past, but we booked this after watching a very luxurious video on MSC website. We thought that this was going to be opelent, luxurious, classy and extravagant cruise seeing as that's what the video to us. Having paid alot more then we usually would, treating ourself to a jacuzzi room and we were told drinks were all in we were so excited. We were wrong our cruise company got it wrong apparently we didn't have the deluxe package for drinks of course that's started us off badly having to pay the extra €198 each. That way my husband could have a better choice of beers and I could have more options of cocktails and s baileys. What a disapointmet, yes the ship is beautiful but lacking what in my book is no1 customer service. We have never felt so unwelcome alone and miserable by the way we were treated on this ship we my husband and I couldn't wait to get off. All the staff were miserable no one would look at you or ask if you needed anything or help. There was never a good morning or evening nothing. No one is ever made to wash their hands when going into the restaurants,it's disgusting no wonder theses ships get poorly. It's a health risk. This is a must why do they no take this on. Royal Caribbean make everyone who enters resturaunts to wash their hands someone stands there. The food was boring every night in the dining room, the same food just a different flavour. The 4 nights we did eat here at golden sands we waited over 2 hours for 2 courses. Seeing as it was all luke warm or cold and waited so long we did the buffet a couple of nights this wasn't much better pizza and chips.....again samey every night too. We had a rude waiter when we asked once if someone could clear our plates because they had been sat there for half an hour we were told no... I thought he was joking actually he wasn't. I have never in all the cruises I have been on have such bad attitude, rude argumentative, unapproachable customer service like it. Including receptionist, waiting staff, bar staff pool attendants every one was the same... what is that about? why is everybody the same. It made us feel awful, the boat had no life or soul no happiness no life. Do not get excited about the formal night, was a waste of me taking my long dresses. Because actually they called it elegant night, I understand not everybody wants to get dressed up but my husband and I changed twice because thier elegant night was trainers, shorts, flipflops baseball caps and t shirts in the main dining. We were all sat so close to one another, we were on laps most of the time. Ice cream were very nice this we enjoyed for our dessert every night seeing as waiting for an ice cream in the restaurant always took 30 minutes and had melted. Except one day at the Panama pool I was put off when I saw hairs in it the coconut ice cream. The 3d simulator the bowling and zip line is at a fee, all other ships are always free when ever we've been on royal Caribbean.... wow you really should try taking your team and trying your competitors for cruising see how they do it The sun loungers are dangerous, as they kept collapsing with people on them. There's so much more to write. The very worse thing about this cruise is that before we went on this, all my family and i stupidly booked a once in a lifetime holiday cruise to Dubai and around the Emirates but it is on the spendida for December 28th. After reading reviews from that ship, on this site its like reading my own all the same thing. The terrible customer service, the awful food, even reading a cleaner using passangers toothbrushes to clean toilets!!!!! Oh my gosh I'm heartbroken as we will all lose the money if we cancel. So we have had to suck it up and still go. Read Less

Loved MSCSeaside, friendly staff, great food, deep pools specialty like the pool for adults only. The enbarkation was a smooth process I was surprised. Entertainment was excellant, Steve was so friendly and funny he should have his own comedy show. Love my experience in dining, the food was good and just the right amount. Buffett in my opinion was good because it was a lot to choose from. I sow opera first time in my life I was surprised how good it was it touch me I cried , so did my daughter . Every night was something going on in different places of entertainment so much to chose from. One night we even had a dance. This cruse was excelent, specially value for the money. We are planning to go again for sure. Read Less

Having cruised with RCL and NCL this new ship caught my eye, mainly for the route it was taking but also for the spanking new stylish ship which offered much but for me did not deliver. Embarkation and disembarkation were fine we were on board by 12.30 and just as fast getting off,A for this Cabin Balcony, clean. space very tight, Bathroom more like a closet, Balcony tight when 2 sitting!Barely room to move around the cabin..Very disappointed with it. Nicely decorated though. So far not brilliant, and it gets worse. FOOD. The menu in the main dining room was awful. Bland cool unimaginative and so disappointing.Tasteless, just plain cafeteria food. The Buffett did have a small choice but only if you like salads bread, risottos plates of pasta. I feel MSC are not making any effort to include more international dishes anywhere, On many visits, all stations bar one were closed and the one opened had cold burgers, reheated chips and the ever-present pasta dish. Surely one station could serve a roast hot veg pork beef lamb so many options. I know it is an Italien company and I expected a lot of Continental style food. It is the quality I am so upset with. I had a group of 22 and none of them were happy with food anywhere.I resorted to having TBone on a few occasions, We tried the specialty restaurants but the charges are way to high.MSC you have a great ship but unless you up the ante in the catering dept you will not attract the market you are now targeting. Entertainment was wonderful if you were Italien, The shows, all the same just different music.THe production levels, lights, costumes, one of the female lead singers and all the male ones, the dancers were super but if not for production and settings very basic, Congratulations to lighting crew out of this world, Other shows really geared to Continental tastes Music around ship varied from great to just ok.,Pool deck 16 was a no go area if you did not speak a continental European language. I found staff on the ground wonderful. Friendly, helpful and at times full of fun, The ship's management should take a few lessons from them. Staff, once they wore a white suit seemed to be of a different caliber, Rude condescending and just plain uninterested in any issues one might have. Back to Customer service school for them! They were almost invisible around the ship. Thank You for staying with me ....I am almost done,I read the reviews but did not imagine they were all correct re food and officers and I have no gripes just feel silly that I discarded reviews, MSC have IMHO a long long way to go to match other lines currently sailing the Med.MSC for me?No way. back to reliables even if somewhat more expensive. Imust mention,Upselling, everywhere everything, Became so annoyingPositive excursions were well run and great value,Did not like the bus element of ship people getting on/off everywhere is different and not for me.You great finale to weeks cruise and that for me was missing all week, Read Less

INTRO... Prior to my comprehensive review, i'd like to say that my intention is to produce a well rounded and honest opinion of the cruise line and the ship, not the itinerary or the destinations. I will be documenting our complete experience on this ship (in contrast to many of the poor quality reviews already published on this ship which seem to focus on silly individual things like vegan options in the buffet and airport transfers) We chose this cruise over a similar Mediterranean sailing on Celebrity... who I will say we love as a cruise line and naturally Celebrity set a very high benchmark for other 4/5 star lines. We are not of the average age of people who tend to write cruise reviews, but in our mid-twenties I'd like to think we have a fairly rounded experience and look at cruises and the modern cruising experience from a slightly different perspective - one that is very rarely documented on this site. Myself and partner tend to look for a cruise experience that offers quality dining experiences, excellent service (which includes staff with personalities and character) well maintained and modern ships and entertainment which caters for us twenty somethings... as well as everyone else. In choosing the MSC Seaview none of the above was compromised, we were well and truly overwhelmed by the overall experience. I last sailed with MSC as a 15 year old on the Lirica back in 2005, which overall wasn't bad but following this have only ever sailed with Celebrity and Holland America on one occasion. I must say that we chose to sail with MSC over Celebrity because Celebrities prices have continued to rise to the point where we no longer feel value for money. Prior to us embarking I did not believe I would be able to compare our last Celebrity experience on the Reflection in November 2017 with our upcoming MSC cruise in September, but it was evident from our short, 7-night stay on the Seaview that MSC are pulling out all the stops to compete with not just the mid tier 4-star cruise lines, but directly with the well heeled premium lines too. THE SHIP... Embarkation was a breeze, and so this continued at the ports during our itinerary and at disembarkation after our cruise. Within twenty minutes of arriving port side we were in the champagne bar ordering drinks! We stayed in an Aurea Suite Aft cabin (Aurea being the package level - similar to Aqua Class on Celebrity or Haven on Norwegian) Which gave us a private dining area, private sun deck, an inclusive drinks package, access to the spa's thermal areas (snow room, sauna's, steam rooms and thalassotherapy pool) plus a 50 minute complimentary massage from the spa menu... all for £1650! A lot of ground to catch up here Celebrity! Our cabin was very large and offered a queen bed, free mini bar (re-stocked every day) a generous bathroom, 'wrap around' balcony which gave us Starboard and Aft views and plenty of cabin storage. Our cabin was clean and tended to by our attendant three times a day. The ship is beautiful and a lot of attention to detail has been paid to its aesthetics both internally and externally. Adorned with marble, silver, golds and bronzes the interior of the Seaview offers a classy and ultra modern, luxurious environment with no expense spared. The layout brings you different themes and often chunks main attractions together in individual and easy to find areas. Be aware, the Seaview is very large and often quite hard to navigate its 20 decks (not something that caused any real issues) Each deck is named after the world's oceans and seas and apart from the pool decks, floors 4 - 12 from Forward to Aft positions meet in the middle at the ships 'Grande Piazza', a glitzy expanse of different bars and restaurants. We spent most of our time pre and post-dinner around here, it gave us easy access to the casino, theatre and on most nights the ship's entertainment staff hosted various parties and themed events from the Piazza. We were huge fans of the different pool areas, each offering a different experience for adults and children, with the ships Aquaventure waterpark tucked well away of the more serene and relaxing areas. Despite the ship being at it's capacity of 5000 guests, we always managed to find space to sunbath... although we would have liked to have seen pool staff removing towels from 'reserved' beds which weren't occupied for hours (a policy Celebrity adhere to and one I think works well) Our private Aurea sundeck was a quiet place to retreat in the afternoon following a day out at port. However a negative for MSC on this one, they could have utilised the space better rather than simply filling it with sun loungers. The private bar was great, but I would have appreciated cabana's and more comfy seating space... not a massive issue in the grand scheme. THE ENTERTAINMENT... The ships entertainment is fast paced, exciting and offers music to accommodate all taste. Theatre shows offer a variety of performances and experiences and overall I rate good. The ships DJ plays current and previous hits depending on the time of day/ night and theme of the party. THE FOOD... The best we've had at sea. We're used to dining on the best having sailed with Celebrity for so many years, but following our experience on the Seaview, not only are the speciality restaurants superb, but the choice and the quality of the food in the main restaurants is excellent! Twinned with great service from the waiters. When sailing on the Seaview, I highly recommend taking out one of the speciality dining packages. The speciality restaurants we sampled were Asian Market (three asian restaurants) all wonderful and unique in their offering. Butchers Cut (steak house) Delightfully prepared and very tasty but very filling meals. Lastly, Ocean Cay being the stand-out... Created for and in collaboration with 'Michelin Star' chef Ramon Freixa is seafood heaven! I apologise for drawing comparison with Celebrity again but all of the speciality restaurants on the Seaview trump the speciality restaurants on our last Celebrity ship... the Reflection for a fairly comparative additional charge. THE STAFF... Engagement with staff on board was always what I would consider as good. The waiters and bar staff were nearly always excellent, showed a vested interest in their guests and looked to form a bond with us wherever we chose to eat. The sommelier and maitre'd in the speciality restaurants liked us so much he often left bottles of wine with us and offered hefty discounts if we chose to order any additionals! However I would have lied to have seen some 'Flare' bar tendering... again something we're used to on Celebrity. Our room attendant was pleasant and would happily go over and above to ensure we were satisfied with everything. We didn't see much of the officers, who remained fairly elusive along with the ship's Captain Marco Massa who we very rarely heard from or saw... which was a shame, however not really impacting our experience. IN SUMMARY... Would we cruise with MSC again? Absolutely, but I would be hesitant after experiencing one of their newest ships to sail on the older ships in their fleet. The Seaview seemed to deliver what we expect from a cruise and more. I would highly recommend MSC to any of our fellow cruisers who may be thinking about a change from their traditional cruise line or simply want better value for money. If you're British or American and looking to sail with MSC, bare in mind that the general appeal of MSC is to the european market. Many of our fellow guests were Italian, Spanish, French and German and many didn't speak or converse in English... again this didn't bother us because everyone was still very pleasant. Read Less

This was our first time on MSC but we've been on multiple cruises with other cruise companies. We chose this ship and itinerary because there was a really good sale on their website. Booking was a little complicated because we were a large party so we had to email back and forth with the booking agent. We were a party of 9 adults and we booked 5 rooms, all inside cabins. We had read other reviews stating that the food was catered more towards a European crowd and that there wasn't a lot of variety. We are Canadian and we went in knowing that the food might not be like the other cruise ships. Compared to RC, Norwegian, Celebrity and Carnival, there is indeed less variety but we aren't picky so it didn't really bother us. I was satisfied with the food on this cruise. I didn't like that we were restricted to certain times for dining and they literally close the doors after a certain time. We were scheduled to eat at 7:15 and they close the doors at 7:35. If you're not there, then you can't eat in the restaurant. I prefer freestyle dining. Our cabins were clean and tidy. The cabin stewards did not do any towel folding during our stay like the other cruise companies. There is only shampoo and body wash in the shower. The shower is also tiny, but this to be expected for inside cabins. The beds are comfortable and I had a good sleep throughout the cruise. The entertainment was fine and MSC is probably the only company that has opera at sea. They did a condensed version on Madama Butterfly during one of the days at sea. There were three shows most nights and you have to book them through the MSC app (more on that later). The entertainers were talented and it was interesting the first few nights but the shows got very repetitive and by the end of the week, you're thinking "I saw this last night" because they use the same performers but put them in different costumes. Compared to the other cruise lines, I felt the hospitality on the MSC Seaside was terrible. More than once, we were dumbfounded by the responses from the crew. We had someone in our party who just had leg surgery and was not very mobile. We asked for a wheelchair while in Nassau because it was a long walk out of the pier. The crew member told us she could not go get the wheelchair for us even though it was right up the ramp near the exit. Another time, we didn't know where to go and we actually got reprimanded by one of the crew members for not being able to locate the correct line. She was quite rude. Unlike the other cruise lines, none of the crew greeted us when they saw us and in general they did not seem to be happy working there. Sometimes they would simply tell us "no" when we were asking for something instead of offering an alternative solution to the problem. There is an app that you can download to use while onboard. It has the menus for the restaurants, the list of shows in the evening and the schedule of activities for the day. You can use it to add activities to your day. It wasn't exactly user-friendly but it was handy to have the information with us instead of having to refer to the paper schedule. It was lacking a chat feature on the app and it would be nice if it had that. I didn't book any of the excursions through the cruise line. The prices were on par with all the other cruise lines, which is to say: overpriced so I usually book excursions on my own. I found there was enough variety if you were to book with the cruise so if you didn't want to do any planning, you'd find a nice selection offered by MSC. If you are a diver, note that there were no scuba diving excursions offered by MSC. You have to book outside of the cruise line. Embarkation and disembarkation were smooth and very easy. It was the fastest I've ever embarked or disembarked a vessel and I give MSC kudos for that. Overall, we got a really good price for the cruise so we weren't expecting something amazing. You get what you pay for, after all. What I was disappointed with was the lack of hospitality and warmth from the crew. I would only book with MSC again if the price was right. Read Less

Beautiful ship, lots to do although a lot at an extra charge ie bowling, buffet restaurants offer lots of choice although not particularly hot, main dining room (golden sands)was terrible both for food and customer service, no conversation or interaction waiters took your order in silence and walked away. Food then served in silence. We have sailed on Royal Caribbean and staff are first class, MSC could learn a lot from them. Be wary of tickets coming into cabin for excursions next day, in Malta we did the open top bus ourselves which was on an ancient, dirty, crowded bus, MSC are selling this tour, and by coincidence I overheard several couples on board complaining at reception about the terrible bus, after that I had no faith in MSC regarding these excursions. Overall we had a nice enough time, we are easy going people and don't complain often but for me the 2 main things that let the ship down is the poor dining room and the customer service, next cruise we will go for Royal Caribbean again Read Less

First cruise, beautiful ship, spotless, staff mostly friendly with a few exceptions. Food ok, good buffet selection when you manage to battle your way through. Way too many children running around, felt like a holiday camp on water! The specialty restaurants appear to be almost empty.. they are very expensive. Cabin was very comfortable but being on deck 15, we were directly underneath the Ocean View buffet so from 07.30 and continuing all day, very loud noise from chairs scraping on the floor and thumping of people walking around. Requested to move but abruptly told that there was nothing else available. This noise made it impossible to enjoy the balcony also. Found the entertainment lacking except for the theatre shows which were very professional. Not enough adult only areas. The over 18's bar was closed for private functions on at least 3 occasions. If we had a quieter cabin and less children on board we may have had a different opinion but disembarked feeling like we needed a holiday to recover Read Less

We chose this cruise so that we could see parts of Italy. It was not cheap for the all inclusive package that was included when we booked with travel agent. I have never been made to feel like a second class citizen on any other cruise as I was on this one. Drinks options were very limited, trying to get a glass of wine with dinner was a nightmare. There are only two options available for all inclusive package, but waiting staff only went round with one bottle to top up your glass. They did not like it when asked for the other one, when it was finally produced the meal was almost over. Cabins are very basic, don’t expect any little luxuries as there are none. Pump dispensers provide body wash, shampoo and soap. Never once saw cabin steward, on three consecutive nights had to actually make my own bed as duvet had only been spread over. Again for our package drinks at the bars are very limited. If you drink bottled beer you can only have Heineken, with spirits you can have Gordon’s gin, Smirnoff vodka. Anything else you need to pay for. The whole cruise involved them trying to get more money out of you. We had an additional £600 bill at the end of our cruise. This was we chose to dine in speciality restaurants with wine in a more relaxed environment. Please check your account daily, if you do not spend, they will add money on saying you made a donation to charity even if you didn’t. I’m sorry to say there are very little positives. The transfers, embarkation and disembarkation were very smooth. Overall, this cruise had far to many passengers on board resulting in the personal touch in making every passenger feel special was sadly missing. Read Less

We chose this ship as it was brand new. We typically sail Disney but this offer was too hard to pass up. I would highly recommend sailing via yacht club. From the private butler to the private lounge, dining, service, it just made financial sense to book via yacht club. I would NOT book the regular rooms. It is way too crowded and sun chairs and pools were crowded. The lineup to use the elevators and the bar were quite long without the yacht club private elevator. My son did not use the kids club although it looked like fun. The shows were great as we went to each one. English was never a problem. Shout out to Marvin in the yacht club for being an exceptional Butler. I would recommend pre-booking the internet, the trio private dinners as onboard prices seem quite high. This is a brand new ship which only launched in June. The interior was very beautiful, amazing atrium with Swarovski crystals on the main stairs, Cinderella stairs according to my granddaughter. The cabins were in very good condition, of course, but there was a lack of wardrobe and storage space. Balconies were standard size, but no reclining chairs. Beds comfortable, good bathroom, we had a bath and shower, no awful shower curtain to contend with, nice glass screens. We chose this cruise because we were travelling as a family with young children, we appreciated it would be different to our usual (Princess or Celebrity) cruise. The facilities for kids were good, our 10yr old granddaughter made full use of the water park. However, our grandson is only 4 and found the constant bombardment with water jets in the kids pool too much. There was no calm shallow pool, he used the 3 other pools with a member of the family in the water with him at all times as they were all around 6ft deep. The food was ok-ish, especially if you like veal, which seemed to be the staple. Children's food very much chips, pizza, nuggets, some improvement required here. No steaks offered in the main dining room, you had to pay for speciality dining if you wanted steak. Drinks packages cheaper than some cruise lines, plenty of cocktails available. Overall, not bad, but considering this cruise was aimed at families, which means lots of children, all the stops were city based, we paid a small fortune in Malta to get a taxi to the beach. Requests for a change of dining room sitting time were largely ignored, as was my husband's request to view the Yacht Club area with a view to booking a future cruise. We have already booked again with Celebrity and very much doubt we will cruise with MSC in the future. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it was a new ship and looked really beautiful online. The Seaview turned out to be a magnificent ship, with great ports- Barcelona, Marseille, Genoa, Messina, Naples, and Valletta, Malta. It was also easy to navigate your way onboard. The cruise line offers ports that other cruise lines do not. The dates the cruise offered were convenient for us. Embarkation and Disembarkation went very smoothly. There were no lines. Our luggage arrived at our room shortly after were checked into out cabin. The cabin was a balcony cabin on deck 9. There was enough room in the cabin for my husband and myself. It could be tight for a family of 4. Cabins were tastefully decorated, clean, and comfortable. We ate in the dining room every evening. All other meals were eaten at the buffet restaurant. The food was average. Many items that used to be included on the menu, are offered, but you must pay extra for them. There were many packages for extras- bar, soda, water, coffee, steak, lobster, etc. The shore excursions were offered in many languages, and there were very few offered in each port. Entertainment was lacking. The show at night was 35 minutes and utilized the same group of performers every night in a different show. Entertainment during the day did not exist. There was no social director. They had a big screen tv above the panorama deck, which never had a movie playing! The shops had a poor selection of souvenirs. Handbags looked like copies. There were many children on board and they offered many activities for them. The main problem we had on this cruise was that no passengers spoke English. This was a European line and we were unaware that this would present itself as a problem. So, we met no one on this trip. All in all, this was a worthwhile cruise, but not sure if we would go on MSC again. Read Less

Had a a fantastic time on MSC Seaview. Embarkation very smooth....no queues or hassles . Cabin very clean, very comfortable beds and nice shower with bath. We had a balcony which gave you extra space and nice to sit in the sun and relax for a short time. Found Buffets a bit busy for breakfast and Lunch but the food was varied and nicely presented. Enjoyed our Evening Dinner in the Restaurant as we had lovely people as companions. Theatre shows quite good (tho some not so good ) but only lasted about 45 minutes. Pools and Loungers very busy and had to hunt to get one. Usually found one eventually. Plenty different Bars to explore and some with entertainment. Everything nice and clean and shiny as you would expect with a new Ship... very impressive! Had some nice excursions, especially in Malta and Marseille and would like to return there. Found all staff on the Ship to be friendly, cheerful and hardworking. Enjoyed my very first Cruise and would definitely sail with MSC again. Read Less

Overall, the cruise was nice. Luxurious ship, good service and friendly staff most of the time. However, I need to mention the following points related to those with dietary requirements, swimming pools and the Excursions office: 1) The main buffet on the ship (Marketplace Buffet) does not take dietary requirements into consideration. I struggled explaining my vegan needs and some staff could not even understand what I was talking about. I had to ask lots of questions and staff members seemed to be unsure about their answers most of the time. This could be easily resolved by tagging each dish with its suitability for different dietary requirements. In addition, vegan options were limited to only salad at some points and I couldn't find a single vegan dessert over the whole cruise except some fruits. I tried The Silver Dolphin restaurant one night and the service was not better. 2) There's no adults' swimming pool on the ship. All pools are full of kids which makes it impossible for an adult to swim. I couldn't even enter any of the three main pools over the whole week as they were so crowded. One pool can be specifically allocated for adults who want to enjoy swimming away from the kids. 3) The most disappointing part of the cruise was the last day when Barcelona city tour (ending in the airport) was cancelled because of the low number of participants. Although I talked to the excursions office two days before the tour they couldn't manage to arrange any alternative. As a result, all what we could do on our last day was waiting for our flight from 8am till 5pm. While we selected this cruise in particular (and obviously paid more) because it covered four countries, we ended up visiting three (France, Italy and Malta) and just passing through the fourth (Spain). I believe that more effort could have been done in arranging an alternative (another city tour already took place and all what was needed is to arrange a taxi drive to the airport by the end) or at least we could have been informed in advance to book a hotel in Barcelona for an extra night to enjoy the city. If you have kids don’t choose this ship, long queues for water slides with no other entertainment for them. I had the wellness experience which entitled me for free sod drinks, water, wine all over my stay with 2 free shore execrusions, that i had realized later as reception didn’t inform me about it, more over they charged me for bottled water to my room that was included in my package for free. Overall boring, room attendance was only finding execuses for not cleaning our cabin and blame the amount of rooms he has to clean overall very bad experience with lack of entertainment, don’t get excited with photos they publish, the only positive point is that since ship is new there is no problems or faulty yet in room, fast internet is available with a cost ofcourse, I have been to NCL which was 100 times better, welcoming staff and good entertainment for kids and adults Read Less

MSC cruise was offered in trip package with many lines as options. I thought new ship would be nice change and decided on MSC. This was a big mistake. Had read reviews that was really negative after I had sign up for the cruise. I like sports so I thought I would review my cruise like football game review. Embarkment: A Very easy to get on, but first staff person took my picture and totally missed my head. Registering credit cards: C Machine gave you options for using two cards, which was kind of confusing.. Received memo after two days on boeard that one of the cards never cleared. Why did I need two in the first place. Cabin: C The cabin was nice, but just as I read there was not much room for your clothes and luggage. Had to stick my bags under the desk and under the bed. Bathroom had a tub. Been on several cruises and never had a tub before. Had a balcony and had nice view. My cabin person accused us of taking a bottle of water out of the wet bar that we brought from the bar and tried to charge us $1.75. The wet bar never had that type of water in it. Food: C- First meal in the dining hall was steak and fries. It was like I was eating. Concur steak and McDonald’s fries. After complaining they gave me two plates every night, but it just lack the “boom” you expect on cruise. Packages: F Wanted purchase a liguor package for myself, but was told that every person in the cabin must purchase one too. Cost over $600 and more, so I decided not to buy one. Even if you wanted water the same policy....crazy. Excursions: B+ I never been on a cruise where the excursions was handled perfectly. The process of tags and numbers and transportation they used were great. Entertainment: F- They had shows every night they had four good singers that performed in every show. And the show lasted from 20-35 mins....who does that? Baby Disney production....CHEAP, Pools and after dinner: F The pools were small and was crowded. People was smoking everywhere and the young people was jus standing or holding on the sides. My wife and I never got into pool or hot tub the whole cruise. Nightlife: There was nothing to do at night for anyone over 50.The music was European electronic rock. Being black, by Wednesday I was paid money to stop hearing that hard base music. Overall: C- MSC yo’re the CHEAPEST line we had ever been on. Every aspect other then your excursions were cheap....baby Disney. Was on the ship for a week and never really understood the ship. To many mirrors and no place for your older crowd to go and band in the Haven was poor. RC you have nothing to fear from the cheap organization. Read Less

Embarkation was very quick and efficient and not overcrowded as people start their cruise at each port the cruise stops at, so 5000 people were not trying to get on the boat all at once, which was great. Welcome was luke warm, from check in staff and onboard security staff. If you expect a big smile and a ' Welcome on Board' then this was definitely missing ( was the same everytime we got on and off boat) First impressions....boat is very large, impressive and brand new, extremely clean. Getting to our cabins was easy and we were very happy with them, very well located away from lifts and any noisy bars, restaurants or public areas. We decided to go the deck 8 buffet for lunch. It is extremely busy, chaotic and not the best dining experience although it is good that you can take you food outside to one of the many outdoor areas on this boat. There was a wide variety of food and as with many buffets quality varied....very good freshly made thin pizza, large joints of meat they would cut infront of you, also excellent salad bar. Staff in the buffet , both counter and bar staff were not the smiliest or friendliest encountered onboard but I can sympathise having to deal with the hordes of rude customers. The smaller buffet on the top deck by the pool is mildly better . Best advise go early and stay well clear of the horrible hamburgers Breakfast in the buffets is your standard affair of cooked and continental. If you have a drinks package be sure to order coffee and bottled fruit juice from the bar rather the stuff they have for free which is not nice. A good tip is to go to the Golden Sands restaurant for breakfast where there is table service...much more pleasant. We were booked into the 8pm sitting at the Silver Dolphin restaurant. Staff are welcoming and our 2 waiters were excellent. There is normally a good selection on the menu and food is good but not gourmet. We had several dishes that were excellent and a few that were just okay, you can tell that they are catering to a lot of people, but definitely more pleasant than the buffet Pool areas are impressive but crowded and I do not know why there is absolutely NO SHADE at 2 of the pools if you want to use a sunlounger. The main pool occasionaly had chillout music but was generally very busy and very noisy with extremely high energy loud music and staff trying to get guests to partake in activities holiday camp style, guess I am just turning into a grumpy old man. Icecream parlours at the pools are excellent with good quality icecream. We had a drinks package so sampled just about all of the cocktails that vary slightly from bar to bar. Generally found them to be very sweet. Although good margaritas and coffee martini. Our favourite bars were actually the sports bar which was quieter than expected and the brilliant Seaside Lounge were the staff were brilliant, very comfortable and great music plus no kids !!! PLEASE PLEASE change your tonic water it is horrible Entertainment in the main foyer was good with 2 great singers . The evening entertainment in the main theatre was quite bizzare. They have some very good singers and dancers and especially acrobats but it is just all thrown together in a very 'cruise ship' cheesy mess of show tunes. Moments that were really enjoyable mixed with times you wanted to crawl under your seat. Generally an enjoyable holiday but would probably not go during the summer school holidays and might consider upgrading to their premium experience where you get quieter more exclusive bar and restaurant access Read Less

We normally cruise with Royal Caribbean or Princess. We thought we would try this new ship and that our experience which was more expensive would be on par with these other companies but sadly we were mistaken. Pros - really nice balcony cabin which was kept very clean by our steward - deck 8 is great for sitting out eating, sunbathing etc at any time of day - overall look of the ship and decor (except the brown stairwells!) is nice - plenty pool areas Cons - staff not properly trained and overall customer service is very very poor! Overall staff were not very friendly like our experience on other ships - embarkation at Barcelona took well over an hour and no one seemed to know what they were doing. Never queued this long with other companies. - we had the Fantastica package and our dinning staff knew nothing about this. They wouldn’t give us the ‘free’ water or coffee on 1st night. - dinning food is poor. First night I ordered grilled chicken, it was dry piece of chicken with chips! No gravy veg etc. They didn’t seem to want to offer extras, different sauces etc which is never a problem on other shops. Baked Alaska was a joke, thought it has been sliced in a ham cutter and cans with sprinkles like a kid had made it. - dinning staff would take away plates before we were all finished. - overall dinning experience very poor compared to other cruise lines - most security staff were unpleasant, no niceites “welcome onboard etc”, no water on quay side terminals which other cruise lines offer in hot weather - theatre entertainment was pretty much same every night, no variety like other ships etc musicians, comedians. They do love the greatest showman songs and It felt like they sang these every night. - deck 15 balcony cabin in rear section really noisy with music, parties etc late at night Whilst we had a good holiday and enjoyed the ports, we won’t travel with MSC again, £1800 for our week and it was worst valve for money we’ve experienced on a cruise. We spoke to other Brits on the ship who had been with other companies and their thoughts were the same. Read Less

This was our first cruise as a family with children between the ages of 8 and 12. Embarking and disembarking was a breeze. We loved that everything was so new and clean. Service was varied. Some bar staff was downright rude, complaining about making milkshakes, refusing to give us a drink menu, or overheard mocking guests. However the server in the Silver Dolphin did a fantastic job. Food - my young son has celiac and probably my biggest disappointment is that the buffet was not celiac friendly. Nothing in the buffet is marked. They also had no «kid» friendly celiac meals such as gluten free pizza or other things that most kids want to eat, such as french fries, chicken nuggets, hamburgers. If you have celiac you basically have to eat in the formal sit down restaurant. This is simply not good enough for children with celiac and is very inflexible for families. I am not sure how other cruises handle this. Activities and pools - great outdoor spaces BUT the pools were very overcrowded. People seriously argued over sun loungers. They need bigger pools. Kids loved the waterslides. The kids never wanted to leave the ship at any of the ports. We found some areas of the ship to be too noisy for our liking, especially at the back near the Panorama pool. The entertainment was insane loud...we measured at 95 decibels?! We prefered to sit near the lower pool ok deck 7 or on the side near the Sports bar on deck 8. Excursions - we found to be too pricy and pretty much did our own thing. There are plenty of taxis waiting at the Messina port, so do not waste money on a shuttle. In Genoa, there are markers you can follow on the ground for a self guided tour and the aquarium is within 10-15 min walk from the port. In Naples, we took a taxi to and from Pompeii. In Messina, we took the train to Taormina on our own. Valletta—walking distance to the center of town. Take the elevator to the top (1 euro)... be aware that the bus excursion takes you all over the island but does not drive around the center old town attractions of Valletta. Elevators - the elevators located mid-ship were painfully slow. How 8 elevators could be so poorly programmed is a mystery. Use the elevators located in front or back or take the stairs. Overall we loved our cruise because there was something for everyone. The kids had a fantastic time. We enjoyed the port visits. It wasn’t a perfect trip and I wouldn’t recommend it for families who have children with celiac, but other than that I can say it was great. Read Less

Had a terrible experience where our MSC airport transfers did not turn up. Was made to pay for a taxi and was then told was my fault as the luggage was delayed at Barcelona. Also cabin attendant threw away a protective dust bag for a very expensive hand bag thinking it was rubbish that was left on the SOFA. Therefore staff have clearly been touching items in the cabin they shouldn’t, as a small gold ring had also gone missing. Since cabins are cleaned twice a day it is impossible to remember to lock everything in the safe and anyway the safe is not that big. Food was good but service was very poor as the waiter for our order wrong 4 nights in a row and then felt like we was being rushed for the next meal sitting. Not something I expect for paying nearly £3500. MSc sea view is supposed to be there flagship ship I wish I had chosen royal Caribbean now. Overall I have had a terrible time and it had ruined 90% of the holiday since I spent most of the time checking the room and at reception. Read Less

Despite the reviews to the contrary, we took the MSC Seaview on a Western Mediterranean Cruise. We had no issues whatsoever. We had two balcony staterooms, that were located on floor 11. They were like brand new and totally clean and spacious. We had twice daily maid service, 24 free room service, a drink package that we did not even finish, delicious meals in the dining room, we went to shows, we went on tours (shore excursions) and we did our own tours. They had adequate security, delicious fresh food, all you can eat 24 hours, and we were able to get off the boat one stop prior to the end easily so as to catch a plane. The boat was very clean and new, and I did not meet an employee from MSC that was not willing to help on any issues. It was an awesome experience and I can recommend this to anyone wanting a cruise.
