I have been reading reviews of the NCL Bliss and am a little shocked at what I'm reading. I haven't written a review on this site but thought it was important. I'm assuming the bad reviews are from people who need every little whim taken care of and can't do anything for themselves. Let me say the ship itself was beautiful. I have been on a few cruises before and this was by far the best one. I went with my two daughters (10 and 14), husband, another family with two kids and my sister and brother-in-law. We all had balcony rooms, which for 4 were small but they always are unless you want to pay a lot more. Rooms were spotless and everything we needed our steward got us ASAP. The decor on the ship is classy and beautiful. Nothing tacky here. As far as things to do there was never a dull moment, unless you wanted it. They had containt stuff going on until at least midnight and after that a few bars stayed open. I couldn't do everything I want to! Adults saw Jersey Boys and it was amazing!! We saw Havana as a family and it was great! We all also saw the family comedians, Beatles show and many other bands and "game shows" around the ship. My kids loved them all. The younger kids went to the kids club quite a bit and really enjoyed it. The teens enjoyed their club but actually ended up hanging out with us a lot. The food was very good. Something for everyone! Although, I will admit it sucks that some of the best restaurants you had to pay for. We stuck mainly to the free restaurants and buffet and only went to one speciality dinner. Also, I never had a hard time getting a drink. Maybe I had to wait a minute or two at the very busy bars but nothing crazy. Get the free drink package if it's offered! It is well worth it. We met some people that didn't and their bar bill was insane. We drank everyday, all day (very slowly) and never had to pay for a drink once. It includes pretty much every drink you could want, most were perfect - more strong than weak. *Go to The District, look for Carlo, best waiter ever!!!!* Getting on and off the ship at the ports was a breeze! So was debarking the ship at the end of our cruise. Couldn't have asked for better. The last thing I have to say is about the staff. I can't believe people have any thing negative to say about them. They work their asses off. 7 days a week, 10-14 hours a day for 8 months straight! They are always upbeat and smiling and seem to be willing to help in anyway. If you had a problem with them you might want to take a look at yourself! This was an expensive cruise but for what we got along with the incredible memories I'm so glad we did it! Read Less

Booked this sailing a full year in advance while sailing on the Escape and got a great deal. We paid $1079 per person base fare for our BA balcony. By the time final payment was due, BAs were selling for $1929 per person! We have sailed twice on the Escape, so it was hard not to draw comparisons between the two ships. Despite being similar ships, it actually turned out to be very disorienting having the buffet (Garden Cafe) at the front of the ship. We had a cabin near the aft elevators and found it to be a lot more of a hassle to get to the Cafe than we were used to on the Escape. But once we got our bearings, it wasn't too bad and, luckily, we had nice weather so crossing the pool deck to get to the Cafe wasn't much of a hardship. Our only indoor options would have been walking through the stateroom hallways on Deck 15 or going down to the public decks on 6-7-8 and then taking the forward elevator up to the Cafe. Navigation issues sorted, here is a list of pros and cons of the Bliss versus the Escape: Pros: - The Observation Lounge - This is hands down the biggest advantage the Bliss has over the Escape. It is a lovely space. It is HUGE, has beautiful views, is generally quiet and serene, has comfy chairs and chaise loungers to relax and read or chat, has a full bar that was open most of the time, and has some buffet options for light snacks. - Go Karts & Laser Tag - I know it was a controversial choice to take up so much upper deck space with these attractions, but I thoroughly enjoyed them and I am not a big fan of "fun in the sun" type activities, so I don't mind the loss of pool deck space. I have yet to do the ropes course on the Escape (though I hope to in April) and have only played a round or two of mini-golf on the Escape, so I did not feel the loss of those spaces. - Entertainment - Both of the main theater shows were really good. Havana was high-energy and highly entertaining. Jersey Boys was the full-length musical and the performers were wonderful, though I did feel like the production value was very low. The women's wigs were downright horrid. Britain's Finest, the Beatles tribute band, was great and we saw both their early years and Abbey Road shows. But the real show-stealers of the whole cruise were Siglo, the Filipino house band. Their lead guitarist was out of this world. We made a point to see them every chance we got! - Los Lobos - I thought I would miss Moderno, but we loved Los Lobos so much, we actually ate there twice! The food and service were both outstanding. - Beautiful Decor - I really felt like the decor throughout the entire ship was a notch up from the Escape. I don't just mean slightly more modern, being a newer ship, but slightly higher quality and aesthetic as well. Found ourselves taking lots of photos of thinks like tile around the bars or wall art. Though I do like the Escape's chandelier better. - Q - I had read some bad reviews beforehand, so I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I definitely didn't feel the loss of the Supper Club space, having never gone there on the Escape, so this was a welcome change. - Casino - I definitely appreciated the separate smoking room in the Casino. It really helped reduce (though not completely eliminate) the smell of smoke. Plus, I never came back to the room at night smelling like and ashtray. Cons: - Garden Cafe - Ugh, where to begin? I already talked about the forward location being disorienting. But the issues only BEGAN there. The stations are set up so strangely and there is just no FLOW to it at all. Many items were only available at one station, so you had to go all over to get the things you wanted, rather than duplicating the most common things on multiple stations to help manage traffic and crowds. I never once say a separate tray for "Crispy Bacon" at breakfast and that is one of my FAVORITE things about the other NCL sailings I've been on. There were only nachos ONE TIME at the late night snack bar on our entire sailing and never once did they have plain potato chips (though I did find some of those in the Observation Lounge a few times) and those are my go-to late night snack staples on NCL! At least the Tastes of India bar did not disappoint at lunch times. That's about the best thing I can say for the Garden Cafe on the Bliss. - The Social - I never actually even managed to get in there for a show. The comedians were fully booked by the time I made it to a touch-screen on board. But the MAIN thing missing here versus the Escape is Howl at the Moon. I heard many people on the ship lamenting the fact that there is no Howl at the Moon on the Bliss. People love that show! - Pincho Tapas - I really really missed this from the Escape. It's such great food! Really wish they hadn't eliminated it, though as dead as it always is on the Escape (why!?!?!), I'm not surprised. The expanded Sugarcane with a little stage area is kind of nice, though I felt it was under-utilized. - Manhattan Room - They got rid of the dance floor and I never saw any live acts performing in the evenings there on the Bliss. In all, I would sail the Bliss again for sure, but I still feel like the Escape is my "home". I want to take the time to make a special shout-out to our Vacation Hero from the Bliss. Ramesh Naik, our assistant maitre 'd at Los Lobos. Our first night at Los Lobos was during the Super Bowl and we were nearly the only people there (definitely the only ones seated on the Waterfront). He came out and chatted with us several times and he was incredibly friendly. Later in the week, when we decided to go to Los Lobos again, we didn't have a reservation, but he was able to accommodate us still. We saw him throughout the week all over the ship and he always called us by name and was incredibly friendly. Then once, my SO spilled a full drink on the walkway in the Observation Lounge. I didn't want to leave it unattended, because I didn't want anyone to slip and fall before it was cleaned up. We waited and waited for someone to either bring a caution sign or a mop. Finally, Ramesh just happened upon us and he was all over it. He got on the walkie-talkie, and he shooed me off and guarded the spill until someone came to clean it up. In all, we had a fantastic cruise. I cannot say enough about how friendly and accommodating the staff are. Our room steward, Arnel, acquired a lounge chair for our angled balcony by the end of the first day, always provided me with the extra bath towel I requested, had our room cleaned perfectly twice a day, left us a lovely towel animal each night, and always called us by name every time we saw him in the hall. Our servers in all of the specialty restaurants were helpful, made great recommendations, and provided outstanding service. They never made us feel rushed, but they were quick and attentive as well. We are in Los Lobos, Q, Le Bistro, Ocean Blue, and Margaritaville. Food was good in all of them. I was worried my SO was going to actually leave me for the filet in Le Bistro, he was in such ecstasy over it. We loved Los Lobos! We were pleasantly surprised by Q. At Margaritaville they gave us WAY too much food as usual. I would say, of all of them, Ocean Blue was actually the most mediocre, even though it was an up-charge. The spicy shrimp appetizer and clam chowder were excellent, but our entrees were just okay. Read Less

We chose this ship because it is brand new and would have all the latest amenities. It exceeded our expectations. The buffet was excellent morning, noon, and night and the meals changed daily. The observation lounge and Walkway on 8 are lovely, very comfortable and had plenty of room. We had the perfect amount of time at sea (3 days) and in port (3 days). The Broadway shows are very good (although loud, so bring ear plugs). We had four adults in our room and surprisingly the room and bathroom was large enough (mid-ship balcony). We enjoyed meals in Taste, Savor, Manhattan, Los Lobos. So many restaurants we did not have time to try them all. No complaints with any of the meals or service. Make time to ride the go carts and ride the slides. Please ask me if you have any questions. I hope to ride the Bliss again to Alaska. Read Less

We sailed on February 2nd 2019. Our room was lovely. We stayed in a Mini-Suite 10196. It was very nice. Storage was average. Our steward was very good and kept room very neat for us,he did not have much interaction with us as we have had on other cruises. The bed was good. Husband loved it I thought it was a little firm, but this is a personal opinion. Yes there were over 4000 passengers aboard but you would never have know. Everyone of the crew you met greeted us with a smile and a "Hello". Was the pool area crowed? Of course it was everyone wants to be outdoors when it is beautiful outside. Make the best of it. Service at the pool bars was great, we got served fast and with a smile and a thank-you. The servers were busy. We went to Cagney's and Ocean Blue. Cagneys was our favorite. Ocean blue was good too but not as good as Cagney's... We also went to Q smokehouse. after hearing other people talk about how big the portion sizes are my husband and I decided to split a meal, this was perfect. They were very accommodating with extra plates to split our meal. We also ate at the Local very good food and wait time for food was very mininmal. Jersey boys was our pick for entertainment. All I can say is "WOW" this is not to be missed. I have seen this production in Vegas and it was better on the ship. Reservations: Yes you need them to the specialty restaurants and the shows. Do not wait till you get on the ship, some of this you can do online prior, not everything can be done ahead of time but some can, don't complain when you can not get into things when you could have taken care of it months prior. Spa: I indulged and has a facial, manicure and massaage. Sophie was the one who did my facial, she is awesome, hope I can see her again if we sail with NCL soon. Rizzabelle did my manicure she is so great nails never looked better. Shore excursions: We did the Norman Island snorkel which was fantastic, they make sure you know what you are doing and safety is high priority for them. Certified divers are in the water with you watching everyone closely. We also did the St John's caterman snorkel this was also great. It was a 30 minute boat ride to where we would go and they were very knowledgeable about all the islands and answered many questions. We stayed on board for the Bahamas. It was very peaceful and enjoyed the downtime. Casino: I do not want to offend the smokers here, so I am going to say I am sorry ahead of time. I do not smoke, I do not like the smell of smoke, casino is smoke free, this was awesome, They had a room sectioned off for gambling and that was for smokers. If you are a smoker, this ship is not for you. You are very limited where you can smoke on this ship. Overall: Wonderful cruise, we will be sailing with them a again in the future. We did the cruisenext so we have 4 years to decide when we would like to go again. Hoping they can do a Southern Caribbean run with the newer ships soon. Would love a 7-9 day run. Read Less

When I told my friend who owns a successful travel agency that we wanted to go on a cruise, she suggested we choose a modern ship, first and foremost. When I told her we were thinking about Norwegian Bliss, she said, "now THAT is an extraordinary ship; you're going to love it". She was right. In spite of the 4000 other people who had made the same decision, we never felt that we had to wait in line for anything. Ship operations, programs and activities are models of efficiency, and the service staff is A-1. The food...OMG the food. If you don't want the fabulous buffet for every meal, you can choose from many specialty restaurants - all wonderful. We saw 2 amazing, Vegas-quality shows as well as some stand up comedy and musicians performing in various parts of the ship. We did the Caribbean cruise - designed for sun-sea-relaxation. If you want more action or culture, another destination might be more the ticket. Very happy with our vacation. Read Less

New ship, always like to sail the new NCL ships. This one is going to be a winner for Alaska with the beautiful Observation Lounge. The color scheme on this ship is very appealing and soothing to us. We enjoyed the mornings, afternoons, and some evenings on that lounge. We also enjoyed the continental breakfast and light lunches each day. We had a spa balcony, whereas we usually do a spa mini-suite, but they were sold out early on, and we enjoyed the spa experience every day. The ship has the usual features we like about NCL with the various specialty dining choices. There are two excellent bars on board in our opinion. Sugarcane, with the ever-funny and top-notch bartender, Bong. The other is the Observation Lounge bar. Every bartender there is very interactive with passengers, sharing beverage tips and stories. As with all of our NCL cruises, it is really important to pre-book both entertainment and specialty dining. We never had a glitch the entire week. Overally, embarkation/disembarkation was smooth and fast. Although we have read some negatives about the food and service, we never had any issues with any of it. Read Less

We've never cruised before and had no idea what to expect - all we've done are all inclusives. Embarking was hectic, we aren't used to so many people. The biggest problem here was that our luggage wasn't on the same bus we took from the airport to the ship. Our luggage came separately in a cube van and didn't make it to our room, we had to go down and collect it ourselves. This did cause some anxiety initially because who likes to be separated from their luggage?? They assured us this was a normal practice, and they were correct. Dan Dan (cruise director) is AMAZING. Hilarious, fun to talk one on one with. Don't miss anything he's a part of. The food at the buffet was wonderful, tons of variety for myself (a vegetarian) and my husband. My biggest issue here was that nothing could be guaranteed nut/peanut free. Even the gelato at Coco's had a hazenut variety and they used the same scooper for all the gelato's. The cupcakes from the bake shoppe used almond flour and the macarooms also had hazelnuts. The curry in the Indian section (at the buffet for all meals) often had curries with cashews. I have no food allergies, so this wasn't an issue for me, but I can see people with nut allergies having some issues. For the record, the head chef is Indian and his Indian section was amazing. They even had a Starbucks. The entertainment was phenomenal. From the day to day game shows, musical performers, Jersey Boys musical and especially the comedy acts, we were ALWAYS entertained. We went to 3 comedy shows and were not disappointed, way better than the Yuk Yuk's we see here at home (Canada). This being said, the second you've got a minute on the ship (the first day!), book the things you want to see ASAP. Do not wait. There were some things we wanted to do that got booked up fast. There was so much to do, in so many different areas, we were never at a loss of what to do. The ship itself was stunning. High end finishes, literally a floating hotel. I cannot say enough good things about the state of the ship, it was beautiful to look at. I would suggest to explore options for your excursions. We just walked off the boat and did local shopping but a lot of people booked independent of NCL and got taxis and boats privately for way less money. People aren't kidding when they say the boat is empty on port days. It was great. We paid extra and got the week long spa pass. It was worth the money and totally relaxing. We spent 15 mins at the pool deck and weren't feeling it. We've done so many beach vacations, we were happy not having pool and sun days. The pools aren't large, smaller than I expected, but they did have tons of loungers that got held with towels first thing in the morning. Most people sunned themselves, not many people went into the salt water pools. Definitely check out the observation deck. Great views and relaxing atmosphere. Great loungers, chairs and couches. Snacks, coffee, juices are always available. Overall, we had a fantastic experience. The staff are top notch, always accommodating and senior staff keep close checks on everyone. Would definitely recommend this ship, not sure we can go back to all inclusives anyore lol Read Less

I chose this cruise after doing a lot of research and wanting to try a new cruise line. I wanted top of the line cruising with 100% luxury experience and that is what I received. I can't be happier with my 7 day cruise experience with Norwegian. The ship is magnificent, the food is fantastic, the staff are very professional and friendly. I did it all and have zero complaints. We had an aft facing balcony penthouse suite, the views and ambiance were so romantic. I loved the space we had in our suite. All food options were so good that we did not even use all of our paid meal packages, we loved the Haven Restaurant and other complimentary food options. We did try Margaritaville and Steakhouse restaurant, nothing but good things to say about the food and staff. We gambled and won some money, which was fun and also enjoyed the entertainment on board. Don't miss Prohibition. We even walked away with some very unique art pieces from Park West Gallery to add to our collection. Read Less

My daughter choose this ship because of the date 1-19-19 was her wedding day. She was married at the end of the South beach pier and immediately went to the Bliss to embark on a wonderful celebration of her and Ryan's wedding. The embarkation and the disembarkation were very smooth. Our state room was right next to the elevators and our stateroom was still very quite. The ship is beautiful and the service was the best we have ever experienced and this was our 10th cruise. Our wedding group of 34 was treated like royalty everywhere and especially in the main Dinning room The Manhattan. My daughter and new son-in-law were very happy and now have new memories to last a life time. The entertainment was the very best a ship can offer from Jersey Boy, Havana, and all the comedy offered. The food was great from the Garden Café, the 3 main dinning rooms, and the Local Pub. The Spa was outstanding and the Observation Deck was quite, comfy, and relaxing with views of beauty looking over the ocean and ports. What a wonderful experience we all enjoyed. Never once was I disappointed in the service. Disembarkment at all ports was very easy and smooth. I really enjoyed exploring all Islands that we stopped at. (British Virgin Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Bahamas) Very beautiful scenery as well as the beaches. Enjoyed relaxing on the beach in the Bahama's sipping on a Sands beer and smoking a big Cuban cigar. It don't get any better than that.
