The cruise was very enjoyable. If you opt for the dining package be sure to get reservations for the prime restaurants immediately upon initial boarding. If you wait you may not be able to experience (or even use your package) for the good food joints . We enjoyed Cagnie's and the tappanyaki tremendously. We were not able to use our third day of dining which really sucked! We also used the spa package for my wife to attend the spa area every day, It was reasonable for the services and comfort provided. We also did a couples massage which was a horrible experience. Firstly we were in a room with large windows (not a bad thing) but as we were in port, the darn window washers conducted cleaning in the middle of our massage! Loud and zero privacy! Then came the billing (unfortunate) event...we were charges an unbelievable amount and was clearly "Bait and switch" as they described the fees as "starting from" and not actually reflecting the simple costing for two people at a fixed rate (even supposedly discounted as we were still in port!!!) for 75 minutes stone work. I would highly recommend timing or filming the event as proof/evidence that they cannot tell time accurately as well. GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR is my best advice - be a smart consumer! Also to note that after our trip I compared our bill to my friends (who had a couples message with his wife at the exact same time as ours) and was charged much less for the treatment. They also force an 18% gratuity which in our case would have been closer to zero given the shorting on time and very rude interruption by the window washers. My wife did enjoy what she experienced so all was not lost in the spa realm. The room attendant was great. The room was very clean as was our balcony. a lounge chair would have been useful as the chairs were Wal-mart specials and very uncomfortable. Read Less

Overall, I had a great trip on the Bliss. This a very clean ship with attentive staff. Bring comfortable shoes becasuse you’ll be doing lots of walking. Take note that “solo cruiser” is not the same as being “single and ready to mingle”. However, they did a nice job of making sure solo cruisers had company for dinner and shows. Pros: Beautiful ship, excellent staff, very clean, great fitness room. Excellent food. Summary:The studio cabin was tiny, but very comfortable. The virtual window was a nice touch. The solo cruiser lounge was quite nice. The lounge is only accessible by stairs, so take note if you can’t do stairs. There was a solo cruise director of sorts who arranged for group dinners and shows which was a nice touch. The “freestyle” cruise experience, is a bust in my opinion. It was hard to get dinner reservations to coincide with seeing an evening show. Cons: Excursions were “eh”, freestyle cruising = no real organization, small pool and a fight for lounge chairs, speciality restaurants are a waste of money. Read Less

Because of the possibility to join a group of solo travelers. Our daily meeting and the accompanying cruise member (Ankica) who helped us participate in different activities. The Studio stateroom and studio lounge made it easy to meet other travelers. I purchased credits at the Cruises Next desk which will be used in the near future I will recommend NCL to my friends. That being said. I would like to point out a few things that I thought could be improved: 1. Being a Karaoke fan, I thought the song selections was OK but limited. It should include more songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s (for the middle age group). I personally own a large selection and brought a list with me to help me find songs to sign but could only find a few. 2. I would have liked to see a Golf simulator. I REALLY enjoyed the Go Cart track. Loads of fun! Read Less

We recently went on this cruise ship from Miami to the Caribbean. Embarkation was pretty good. The disembarkation was a long line, disorganized. The ship is nice. It's huge and there are TONS of people. A lot of people on our cruise were very rude. Over crowded elevators, drunken idiots disrespecting the facilities, talking loudly in quiet areas. The cabin was ok, pretty small even though we had a balcony. The entertainment and activities were not really much we were interested in. The things we wanted to do with our kids costed us extra. $10 per kid, per game for laser tag and also for go karts. Long lines for the waterslide. Overcrowded bars and pool deck. This cruise line seems to nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING. The internet barely worked and was crazy expensive. BEWARE parents-They also charge $15 per DAY per child for an additional housekeeping fee. You can have it removed at the end of the week, but you have to visit guest services to do so. Again, long line. We only did one excursion, Blue Lagoon Island in the Bahamas. It was nice. Cost was reasonable. We saw Havana and Jersey Boys. Both were good shows. Read Less

This ship is too big. This was our third cruise with Norwegian (past cruises on Getaway and Escape). We were disappointed that Spice H2O was cut to half the size on the other ships to accommodate the loading area of the "race track" (the racing was pathetic, speed controlled by NCL employee and only a 3 or 4 laps, no room for passing). The Glow party became the Family Glow party and lasted one hour after which the DJ packed up his equipment and went elsewhere. We were also a little put off by the race track and laser tag taking up one whole deck. they took out the free activities and replaced them with revenue producing ones. I would rather have the ropes course, climbing wall, and basketball court rather then having to pay for the rather pathetic race track and rarely open laser tag. Other than that the crew and food were excellent. We ate at Q twice and it was probably the beast BBQ I have had. They are changing the drink menus also (no more Mango Meltdowns) and a lot of trainee bartenders that don't know anything beyond the basic mixed drinks. Christmas decorations were pretty, but blocked the view of the atrium from above, which is where we usually watch the shows from. The port at Nassau was awful, three other mega ships in port with us, excursions were rushed and crowded, not worth the time or expense, St. Thomas and Tortola were ok, but I don't think we will ever go on this itinerary again. Our 13 th cruise. 11th with NCL. Stayed at Holiday Inn Port of Miami Biscayne Blvd the night prior for an awesome stay. (Right across from Marketplace) Embarkation was perfect. So fast and organized this year. We stayed on 14th floor, mid ship, closer to aft and star board. Cabin was as expected on prior NCL ships. Dining- Cagneys great steak but so slow. Bistro doesn’t have a ribeye anymore. Slow service. Limited menu. Manhattan was good and pretty fast. They move quicker if they know you have a show to get too. Teppanyaki was tasty and fun. Los Lobos great tableside guacamole, elotes and other yummy Mexican food. Went to La Cucina twice. Great service and food. Local-mediocre but open 24 hours. Liked Observation lounge for lunches and less crowded. Fresh. Great desserts.superb view. We liked Jersey Boys. We couldn’t precook comedy shows so we couldn’t see any. All booked. Better to book shows and food prior to trip. We couldn’t see a lot of the smaller shows/singing due to no seating available. Many people loved the line dancing with Nashville Junction on pool deck. Tortola-Escape to Josh Von Dyke excursion was so fun. 1 hour boat ride each way but 3hours on island. Bring money for the $8 drinks, food, souvenirs, etc. Didn’t get off as Nassau. Instead, got a day pass for $59 for thermal suite. It was peaceful, quiet until everyone got back from port. Spa-port days 10% discount BUT make sure if you are platinum and you get a “signature” item you can get 25% on port days. Doesn’t include Swedish but does include hot stone. Husband had a lot of acupuncture for pain which provided temporary relief. Husband enjoyed poker tournament, table games and slots. You can be as busy or as lazy as you want to be. Slow to get drinks poolside. They work hard but not enough on sea days. We used the “cruise next” for future cruise deposits, good deal since we go 1-2x year. More tips-review your account online. Be aware of your discounts, if any. Book everything as early as possible. Disembark. Walk off. Went as expected. Not terrible. We always like to try the new ships. Would try Bliss again but wanting to do Encore next year. Read Less

Crews are smiling and give us an magical moment. We have already booked the next cruise. Thank you NCL! It's the best journey of my life. My only deception is that all port expose the same boutique. We gone at st-thomas, tortola and Bahamas. Food is duversified. Menus changes daily and restaurants specially tepaniacky are delicious. I enjoy the shows and the entertaining in the atrium was funny. I didn't like familiar strangers group. It looks like they didn't have chimestry between members. The disembarkation at Bahamas was unfunctional but otherwise the logistics on board is on point. Also, for the drill please take time to arrive before the alarm. Doing that is the way for having fun faster. Read Less

For a ship this new I expected more. Have cruised many times and was not expecting what we encountered. We purchased internet for both of us and it was non exsistant the service. Went to the Internet cafe 2 times (2 1/2 hours) the guy was worthless. He said they were having problems with getting people online and the app was not working. Order chocolate covered strawberries for second cruise day and they never showed up. Went to guest services and they said that the do not feature sign might have been on. I said why didn’t you leave a note then. Said would deliver next day. Got a call later to see they were delivered said yes but 2 days late. He said they would credit account. Not very good service. Other than that the entertainment was great, food servings way too big a lot of wasted food. One serving can feed two people. Read Less

Embarkation and disembarkation were smooth. We were on the ship by 11:30, our room was ready by 1:00 and the luggage arrived shortly thereafter. Getting off and on at ports was easy - no standing around waiting in line as I've experienced in the past. Arrival back in Miami and getting off the ship were also smooth and easy. We didn't feel rushed. We had plenty of time to eat breakfast before we headed ashore. Our cabin was clean and comfortable. There was more than enough room for my husband and I. The balcony was small, but adequate. My only complaint was the couple in the cabin next door who seemed to know only one volume when speaking: loud. I was impressed with the quality of the food, especially in the buffet. I'm not big on buffets, but my grandkids loved it! I went with them for breakfast a few days and was pleasantly surprised. And the pizza was good too. All of the food I had in the specialty restaurants was delicious. We ate at Ocean Blue, Cagney's, Teppenyaki and Los Lobos. All were excellent. The food in the main dining rooms was also good, but the service tended to be a little slow. No surprise when you consider the amount of people eating at the same time. The food in the Local (free) was also very good. The lounges were beautiful and there were more than enough. The only complaint I have is that the service during peak times was slow. Norwegian needs to either book less passangers or hire more staff. Considering the amount of people they deal with everyday, I think they did a pretty good job overall. The shows that I saw were excellent! A real highlight for me. Jersey Boys, Havana and the Beatles were well done and definately worth seeing. The other entertainers onboard were excellent as well. No complaints here. As I mentioned earlier getting off and back on the ship in port was a breeze. We got off the ship at each stop, but only did one excursion on Tortola. The ziplining was worth every penny. The instructor even went with my 10 year old granddaughter when she saw she was afraid. She saved the trip for us. We may have been able to book a less expensive excursion with an outside agency, but the peace of mind that booking through the cruise line offers is worth the added expense in my opinion. My only complaint was the reservation policy for the race track and lasar tag. While I understand that may cut down on long lines, it is also very difficult to plan your day, whether at sea or in port, around a reservation for go karts or lasar tag. The point of the cruise is to relax and NOT have to plan the day. Available times never seemed to coincide with when we were free. Guest services messed up our lasar tag reservation by scheduling it on the wrong day, and we were never able to find another time that worked. We were all disappointed. My grandson was never able to schedule a time on the go karts by himself after doing a double with my husband. He, too, was disappointed. I think there needs to be a bit more flexibility here. The pool area was very nice and well kept, but extremeley crowded. It is no wonder it seemed to take forever to get a drink from the bar and that roving servers were few and far between. Chair hogging is always and issue; one I don't have an answer for. The adult only areas were nice and I especially enjoyed the amonut of hot tubs available around the ship. I had a massage at the spa and it was wonderful. The staff was very accomodating. I hate the up-sell at the end, but I have come to expect it. The kids enjoyed the Kids Club activities, especially the preformance they put on for us. The older kids also enjoyed the arcade and bowling. They loved the pools and water slides. I just wish it hadn't been so very crowded. I would cruise on the Bliss again, but I hope that by the next time they will have all the kinks a new ship entails worked out. The biggest issue for me was the slight sense of feeling crowded, and the problem with the race track and lasar tag, none of which was enough to keep me away in the future. If you can't have a good time on a cruise, despite minor irritations, there is something wrong with you. Read Less

We booked the Bliss for 2 reasons. #1 - We are Beatles fans and had to see the experience and #2 we wanted to try the Go Carts. We saw every show the Beatles tribute band did, both in the "Cavern Club" and of course in the Bliss Theatre on the last night. Wow! These guys were terrific in sound and appearance. This experience did not disappoint. Also saw and enjoyed the live production of Jersey Boys. However, we did not enjoy the Go Cart experience. Not the fault of the ship but because my husband and myself are in our 70's and should have realized how difficult it was to get in and out of the carts, especially me with a knee replacement! I'm sure it was fun for most guests but I honestly should never have tried it. The food, entertainment, Casino, shops were all top gun! But the one thing that made this cruise so special was the staff and crew. Everyone we met or passed by always had a smile, a greeting or went that extra mile to help us with requests. Bliss had a bottle of complimentary wine in our Ocean View stateroom and we had a special promotion of 3 specialty restaurants thanks to Vacations To Go. Even though the restaurants were free, we still gave a generous tip for each and every evening thanks to such great service. We really enjoyed the beautiful Observation Lounge for quiet relaxation and light bites and we also relaxed on the comfy couches on the Waterfront when we wanted to read. Of all the Norwegian ships we have sailed on, The Bliss was the best and for sure we will sail on her in the future. So in closing I wish to remind everyone that there are good moments and sometimes bad experiences on each and every cruise ship. This was our 40th cruise since 2004 so we know this for sure. Continue to read reviews but remember to take them lightly into consideration because some people complain about everything but most will give you honest opinions and suggestions to help you choose your next cruise. We had so much fun on this ship! There was plenty to do all hours of the day under the great planning of the Cruise Director Staff. Food in all of the restaurants was delicious although the crowd in the buffet area could be a bit overwhelming at times. Our room was always clean and every time we came back, the room steward had made it very welcoming to come back to. We saw severa shows and they were all of a very high caliber. The Jersey Boys and Havana shows we’re excellent!! As far as the embarkation and disembarkation processes, it was a breeze. We were on and off the boat in less than 10 minutes (including claiming our luggage).. Shuttles provided by Norwegian were prompt and easy. The only complaint was my ability to obtain a bandaid. They tell you that you don’t need cash for anything because you can use your key card to pay for everything, but for a bandaid, you will need 4 quarters to get one out of the machine. Other than that, I would cruise on this ship again in a minute and highly recommend it for anyone looking for a great time. Read Less

The Ship was nice looking, at first it seemed smaller on the inside than other cruiselines we've experienced. But we realized that it had more social areas, which was a big plus side as it did not feel overcrowded although it was fully booked. There were no big lineups and things moved fast so we could enjoy our vacation instead of waiting in line all the time. One thing we liked was that with an all inclusive alcohol beverage package, they stopped handing us a receipt to sign everytime we ordered a drink. We liked not feeling pressured or cheap if we didn't leave a tip on the paper for each beverage which actually made us want to hand out a dollar or two once in a while to show appreciation of good, friendly service. It would be great however, if cruiselines could introduce a no additional tipping policy all together as in resorts such as Sandals. Keep in mind that the daily gratuity that is shared amongst all employees is $14.50 USD per person AND we are charged additional 20% on any dining, single drinks and beverage packages when purchased (even if its included in the cruise cost, the 20% is added as if the entire package was paid for). Note the Ultimate beverage package does not include bottled water which we found ridiculous. So we had to buy a water package of 6 x 1 ltr bottles for $17 USD. The activities were fun. We took advantage of the go karts (awesome) and lazer tag (lame). We kept pretty busy overall so did not get a chance to try the water slides, but they did look like fun. We saw Jersey Boys which was ok. The piano/comedy guy from New York (i think his name was Bill) in their Brewehouse Pub was a funny and interactive show every night that we enjoyed. The food in the specialty dining was overall very good (we very much liked the Steakhouse and the Japanese, the Texas Q was tasty but very fatty meat) and the food in the main restaurants were acceptable. As for the menus in the main restaurants they were a few notches below Royal Caribbean, Princess, Celebrity. Therefore we were disappointed in the menus of the main (no extra cost) restaurants. The normal daily quick eat buffet was pretty good and had lots of delicious choices. Also an advantage was that there was always something open to eat at any time of the day. And this was the first ship on which we could find chicken wings (which are a favorite for us) at their pub called Locals. The dress code is definitely downscaled on the Norwegian Bliss in their dining room restaurants (note this excludes the pubs and main buffet which are more lenient on all ships that we know). Some people were still dressed up but we saw alot of other people going to diner in jeans, shorts and ball caps, which to us diminishes the classiness a nice restaurant. The party entertainment in the evenings were similar to other cruiselines, and it was good dancing. There were different options on where to "party", depending on what type of music one prefers. The overall entertainment during the day, although had the regular "game show" and such, was otherwise nothing compared to what we could find on Royal Caribbean when the staff dresses up and dances and interacts with hundreds of people in the middle of the ship (I'm thinking of their disco party, their Dreamworks character parade for kids, etc.). Norwegian had none of this. Since you are not allowed to bring irons on board, we appreciated that we could borrow one at no extra cost, by calling guest services. We may return on Norwegian, knowing more of the expected differences, but because of the dining room menus, the downgraded dress code, smaller stateroom, lower grade entertainment and having to purchase bottled water even with a beverage package, our favorite cruiseline remains #1 Royal Caribbean then Celebrity and Princess are pretty much at par and Norwegian comes after. This is where you missed the mark: - Both shows in the theatre were way too loud...even with ear plugs on...just horribly loud, not to mention when there is music in the Q (right below the theatre), you can feel and hear this music along with the loud music of the show (this happened during both of our shows). During dinner at the Q, the music there is so loud, you can't hear your dining companions or the wait staff - Why were there only 2 shows in the theatre that were production type shows? We were on the Jade in August for an 11 day Norway cruise and every night was a different amazing show! If a smaller ship can do this, why can’t the Bliss? - No real latitudes benefits - no cocktail reception, no behind the scenes tour offered (I'm Platinum). And if you're going to give me restaurant coupons, at least reference the restaurants on the ship (it mentioned Moderno which isn't even on this ship). It seems like this is becoming less and less a benefit to be a loyal NCL passenger. Even the pins we used to get are gone. Other than 2 dinners and 1 bag of laundry, that’s about it as we always have to remind the shore excursion desk about our discount. - Being interrupted at dinner to buy photos taken with no option to buy them later in the gallery...this is very disappointing. After this happened a couple times, we opted to not even have our photo taken. why are you interrupting dinner to pressure us to purchase photos? Again, on the Jade, one of your photographers, Maria, was so amazing I think we purchased every photo she took of us. We also had the ability to see all of them and get them from the gallery. This new procedure on the Bliss makes us not want to have any photos taken because it’s buy it now or not at all and being pressured during dinner with our friends!!! - Food Republic - just plain boring and a mandatory 20% gratuity when you order your food (on a tablet) and pay for it in advance. 4 small plates of mediocre food cost over $40. No thanks! - Go carts are just ok (rules were not enforced with folks in our "heat"). We were bumped, passed on the right and it just wasn’t fun when folks are doing this and the rules aren’t being enforced at all by the staff. We would rather have the ropes course back. We didn't even try the laser tag as it just looked boring and was another $10 per person. - If you're going to have the fast water tube slides, have them open!!! We saw these open once for about 15 minutes during a 7 day cruise!!! They were constantly being repaired and closed. The other water slide half the time wasn't open and one time we were able to go, it wasn't even manned at the bottom and the person at the top wasn’t even spacing people out. - Music events were poorly planned - having the beatles show (which is always a favorite) in the Cavern club which is just too small. - The events/music/etc in the atrium were so loud you couldn't hear anyone at the guest services/shore excursion/cruise next desks when events were going on.Even the employees found this to be annoying and stated such. Our biggest issue with this ship...unless you are in the Haven, you cannot walk around the ship or be on the front of the ship on the outside. We love to walk the ship, especially in laps and cannot do this on this ship. When coming in to port or leaving, you cannot stand outside on the front of the ship unless you are in the Haven. Why is NCL bringing back the class separation on their ships? We have cruised a lot of NCL ships (my first cruise was on the Norway) and do not like this separation and lack of inclusion for simple things like standing on the deck at the front. Positives: - The cruise director Silas and his group...we hope they are on the Joy in May when we are in Alaska - the layout of the Garden Buffet - the new Los Lobos restaurant...hands down one of the best restaurants I have ever been to on an NCL ship - the service in the restaurants, including Savor/Taste/Manhattan and the specialty restaurants we tried (Q (twice), Los Lobos (twice), Cagneys, the Local) - Embarkation - I don't know what you changed but apply it to every ship...we were through the line and onboard within 5 minutes flat. The Bliss is a beautiful ship. Norwegian got it right with this plus class. They have made up for the sins of the Epic. Embarkation was a breeze. They used two terminals at the Port of Miami and this kept the crowds to a minimum. We had barely finished our health surveys when the agent called us to the desk. We were on board within fifteen minutes of clearing security. As with many larger ships, the elevator count and placement is inadequate. They also seemed to accommodate fewer passengers than many ships. Getting around the ship is relatively easy if you remember that you sometimes need to "go down to go up". Entertainment was mostly good. Jersey Boys was excellent but Havana was very repetitious. Stage mechanicals were amazing. The Beatles tribute band was very entertaining but they really need a larger venue for this popular show. The comedy show was average. Games, competitions and karaoke were all fun. One of our favorite hangouts was the Atrium. The drinks at the Atrium bar were the best and most consistent. You won't go wrong if you attend any offerings in the Cavern Club. We tried three upcharge restaurants. Teppanyaki was excellent with great food and entertaining chefs. Le Bistro was excellent but was strangely located near the race track. La Cucina was a bit of a disappointment. When the waiter saw that I had eaten very little of my entree, he didn't even ask if there was something wrong. I had to bring to his attention that my meal was subpar. This did not put a damper on our trip as the meals in the main dining room (Taste and Manhatten) were excellent and the service was prompt and friendly. Enjoy a lunch at The Local pub. Buffet is well organized and the food tasty and warm. Seating is much less crowded than many large ships. Addition of booths was a great idea and the high tops provide additional seating. Pools are small and very crowded on sea days. Deck chairs are plentiful but you have to snag one early if you want to be near the pools or in the shade. Bar service is quick and friendly. Theater is large and comfortable. It is not overly ornate, more like a up class modern movie theater. Visibility is good from most seats. This was the first ship I have sailed where the theater did not have a balcony, eliminating the need for support posts that block views. I don't know why but Norwegian has the most disorganized method for disembarkation. It often involves a conga line of people with multiple suitcases weaving around the ship. Why call people to join the line when it is already a quarter mile long? Better to have them wait in the common areas then exit the ship as their tag color is called. All-in-all we had a very enjoyable cruise on the Bliss. Would definitely sail the Bliss again and recommend her to all. Read Less

We had the drink package and liked the fact we didn't have to sign for every drink thus speeding things along. I chose this cruise because it was a new ship and to see it's bells and whistle's. check in went well except the people I was traveling with had to check in at one terminal and me at another so that was odd. my cabin was nice #12300, though not thoroughly cleaned. in several spots I could see that something had spilled or splattered and was never wiped off the cupboard/closet doors. My room steward was nice but seemed to need more training. Pros: The Jersey Boys show was excellent. The room service in the morning was great and usually early. Guest services people were all very nice. The pineapple pastries which seem to come around only once per cruise. Having an in room coffee maker. Cons: We got the internet minutes but it took 2 trips to the internet cafe for one of us to use it. And all of the logging in and out so your minutes don't disappear is a pain. The designated smoking area was a joke. Smokers spend their money too so it seems they could get more than 120 square feet to smoke in.The other smoking area was in an enclosed area in the casino but you were supposed to be actively playing if you wanted to smoke. There has also been a trend to limiting the number of brands for sale as well. Thankfully, I was able to get my cigarettes on St. Thomas. Almost everything came with an additional price. The spa was very nice, but I only bought the week pass to be able to use the thalassotherapy pool and the steam room, which definitely wasn't worth the price. And there was big time push to sell products at the end of every massage, facial, etc. That gets tiresome really fast. Besides the fish on the carpet, there should be more indicators for fore and aft so you don't have to walk all the way to one end or the other to know whether you are in the front or the back of the ship. The entertainment and the customer service areas should be separated. if music was being played in the atrium, it was impossible to have a conversation with either ship employee or travel companions and forget about trying to order your dinner in The Local especially if you wanted something different than the menu stated. If the drink package was not part of your reservation, the cost $831 wasn't something I was willing to pay. Ridiculous! Overall, it was a good trip but these are a few of the things I would change if able. Read Less

I love trying new ships in the first year and had a ball on the Escape so I thought I would give it a try. This was a girls trip for 3 -50 year olds that have this same experience every other year. Embarkation was the best I've ever experienced. They use the pictures from passports and the info you supply at online check in so it's just a matter of swiping passports, completing the health form and getting your room keys. We arrived at 11:45 and within 10 minutes we were on the ship. Upon getting on the ship we opted not to go to the buffet and had lunch in The Local for pub fare which was good. Good decision. Our rooms were ready within an hour of boarding Ocean Balcony port side, spa floor. Adequate storage for 3 adults. Nice closets. The room was a bit small and only 2 of us could comfortably stay on the balcony at a time. I would not recommend bringing a lot of unnecessary items with you as it would just clutter the room. The bathroom was a nice size. Rooms have modern décor. Dining was above average in all locations, buffet, dining room. The buffet didn't offer much variance day to day but it was consistently good. Our specialty restaurant picks were Hibachi and the French restaurant which were superb! The extra money spent on the Spa Floor was money well spent. The Thermal suite is excellent. The Thermal pool is huge, ample heated chairs, a snow room, sauna and steam room. You will not regret it if you're a Spa kind of person. It was only crowded on the day it rained. The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. From an entertainment perspective I saw two shows in the theater, Jersey Boys (which was great) and Havana. I was not able to get into a comedy show, but did get the opportunity to dance the night away late at night. Bingo is very expensive and not so entertaining. The Casino is more like a walkway mid ship and they've enclosed the smokers. The bands throughout were very good. There was a glow party that did not get a big turn out on this ship but was lively on the Escape. All pool bars were great. I didn't get to enjoy the race cars because they were always booked. The water slide with the drop was closed most of the trip. Not into Laser Tag. The ship's design offers bars and restaurants throughout. The décor is not traditional, it's more like modern functional. The elevators are enclosed, no views. One of the best features is the Observation Lounge. It is located on the aft portion of the ship. There are seating areas, food and entertainment. It's innovative and offers some relax and recharge time. Our room attendant was very responsive after having a bit of a conversation. Overall the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful throughout. To have an enjoyable time, plan and reserve your activities prior to your cruise. Understand what cost extra (and there are a lot of things) but if you go into it with all things taken care of you wont get dragged into the bait of the extras. I had a blast on this voyage and look forward to doing it again with different ports....is Ports, Tortola (which is naturally beautiful), St. Thomas (which is great), and Nassau (which is a hole, bating tourists stay on the ship or go far away) Read Less

I wanted to see the new ship. It is not a ship for smokers, there is 1 area that is "free" to smoke. H2O had the smallest smoking area that I've seen on any NCL ship, it was crowded not comfortable and partially covered so if it rained you would likely get wet. You could not use the Cigar Room, and casino for smokers you had to play to smoke. The ship and entertainment was wonderful as well as the staff but not enough staff for the number of passengers. Was in the regular casino for 3 hours and not one wait staff in sight the whole time, had to go to the bar for drinks. The food was really good in Food Republic and Cagneys was sub-par which is unusual since it typically is way above average. I'm not sure if this is due to staffing or not. Personally, I will not go on the bliss again but mainly because I am a smoker, if you are not, you will likely enjoy the ship which is a sight to to see. I'm glad I went and the ship will be awesome traveling to Alaska. I do hope that they increase their staff though which would round out the average to excellent for most on board. Read Less

Due to medical needs, we were allowed to have priority boarding. While embarking on the ship, we noticed people literally running by us. Two quite large young woman literally pushed me out of their way (I wear an ankle brace due to recent bone graft surgery). Then we saw another couple sprinting up the gangway. We had wanted to buy passes for Vibe Beach Club and once we got to the area and were 8th in line, we were told that we did not have a number therefore we could not purchase the pass (no one was giving out numbers). The large women that pushed me out of the way were already there right in front of us and had numbers. We were also told that they only sold 15-20 passes and that everything else was sold out. My understanding is that they have somewhere near 70 passes to sell. Its impossible that they sold 50-60 passes when we were one of the first passengers on the ship.. Something was not right. We have always gotten the Vibe passes and have sailed numerous times on Norwegian Cruise Line. We did report this to the higher ups and let them know that this has become a very volatile, dangerous situation. It was like a stampede. We have never seen this on either Epic, Getaway, Escape or any other ship for that matter. We told Wade (the guy selling the passes) that if we could not get passes then we would be getting off the ship. He put us on a waiting list and I told him that I would be back in touch with him in an hour. Fortunately, we were able to get the passes. I must say that the Vibe Beach Club is usually almost empty so I do not understand where all the passes go because the people do not show up. I don't remember exactly how many cabanas there were (5 or 6 I think) and only 3 of them were taken and we were told that the other are reserved for high ranking officers. I don't understand why these officers can't go to Haven. It's always empty over there. This cruise line really needs to get their act together in my opinion. Now to move on to the casino. The ventilation is not very good. As soon as you get off the elevator the smell of smoke almost chokes you. They also have a very large smoking area which makes the non-smoking area much smaller than their other ships. Specialty restaurants - Not so special. They were better on Getaway and Escape. The first dinner at Cagneys was horrible, but in their defense, they gave us another night to make up for it and the food was much better. Cagneys had always been our favorite specialty restaurant. Keisha was great and was able to redeem the restaurant. LaCucina was not good at all and the service was terrible. It took over 2 hours and we missed the show that night. We also missed the show the first night due to the Cagney fiasco. It seemed that many of the guests were also having issues. We were told it was because hundreds of crew members were switched at Miami. So, needless to say, we were not having such a great experience this trip. This was going to be our last cruise for awhile due to upcoming intense medical treatments, so to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. In closing, unless NCL does something different about getting the passes for Vibe Beach Club and their embarkment procedures, we will most likely sail on other cruise lines. I am not going to risk getting hurt by passengers who have no manners and will push, shove and almost trample other passengers to get the passes. I have never seen anything like it in all my years of cruising. It's shameful for a cruise line to allow this to happen. Read Less

A little pricey on this ship but I feel it's worth it. We love the spa on all Norweigan ships. Food was really good even in the buffet. I normally dont eat buffets but on the Bliss the buffet was great. Service was good. Very friendly staff. Will go on the Bliss again. Had a blast playing laser tag. Didnt get to ride the go carts. Just not enough time. Entertainment was great. I liked the Jersey Boys and Havana. Observation deck was very cozy and lots of room. Would be a great place to sit and watch wild life if you were cruising to Alaska. Lots of room to enjoy the sites. Read Less

We chose NCL Bliss for our Christmas cruise because @famcruising we are all about cruising with friends and family. NCL offers tons of fun, excellent live music and entertainment. We love the specialty dining on NCL and the free drink package is always a great deal. The Bliss is a beautiful ship. It's the most beautiful and most spectacular ship I've been on in 20 years of cruising. Our family loved it. We had an amazing cruise. We highly recommend the Jersey Boys show. We had many great nights of dancing at the Spice H2O club and we can recommend Cagney's steakhouse for great specialty dining. There were a few disappointments - The Bliss was built for Alaskan cruises. Subsequently the Bliss has only one pool outside of the Haven. For a Caribbean cruise the single pool got so crowded it was 5 people deep all the way around it. You could not even get close to the water. Also we found the dining room food and service to be lacking of NCL's high standards. It could be that the Bliss was new at the time however I suspect that NCL's turn towards including the beverage package is directly related to the lack of bar service. The anytime dining also, in our opinion, adds to the lack of good dining room service. We like to have the same wait staff each night and get to know them. We found the lack of service to be a let down as the cruise industry has set the bar in the service industry. Incidentally we have also cruised on NCL Dawn and found the service there to be less than spectacular. Overall we loved the Bliss, had an amazing time and recommend it. We @famcruising have another NCL cruise booked on the NCL Epic. We will be interested to see how the service is on the Epic vs the Bliss. We will post a review after that cruise. Read Less

Went on NCL Bliss for the excitement of a better ship with go-karts vs the NCL Epic and Escape. The Jersey Boys production was outstanding. The Havana show was good but not my type of show that I would want to pay for. The Observation Lounge/deck15 was the best part of the ship. What I was disappointed in were all the chairs and lounges in the Observation Lounge and Atrium. They were all very uncomfortable. People were laying on the fabric chaise lounges in the Observation Deck without towels underneath them. Questioned the sanitary conditions of those Observation Deck lounge chair fabrics after their use. The dining ( complimentary areas) was just ship food (some good some bad). Found the servers very good in the Manhattan Room. Had dinner one evening in Savour Restaurant and found the service to be poor. Did not eat in any specialty restaurants. The Meet and Greet with the ship personnel was excellent. Beds in stateroom felt uncomfortable as compared to the NCL Epic and NCL Escape. As to the cabin, never met the room Steward but the cabin got cleaned twice daily. The ports were nothing special, we primarily were on the NCL Bliss for the newness of the ship. There was an abundance of children on board and I would attribute that to free perk of 3rd and 4th passenger goes free. Although, we love children, we found many of them running out of control throughout the ship. Even saw them sliding down the rails on the stairways just outside the Manhattan Room. Very unappealing. We are Gold Latitude Members and usually purchase future cruise certificates but as a result of cruising on the NCL Bliss, we have decided to no longer sail with NCL. Read Less

I have to admit I was very nervous before we travelled as the reviews were very mixed, actually more leaning towards negative. Being in the Haven made the experience smooth sailing from beginning to end. If you are booking the haven one tip is the balconies on the 17th floor are quite a bit larger than the ones on the 18th. A word of warning, I’m not sure who the designer was, the windows in the bathroom are really not private. In the evening when the lights are on inside you are visible from the outside and on the 17th floor the balcony extends past this window. I will add that the space getting around the bed on the wall side is a little tight. No more than 8 to 10 inches makes it a little snug getting into bed otherwise the room is lovely. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the staff on all floors were very friendly and accommodating after all the negative comments. My 8 yr old granddaughter who is not usually a fan of splash academy said that all the counsellors were so nice on this ship compared to others. Entourage provided my teenage grandson some fun group activities as well in the evening. We dined at La Cucina, Cagney’s, La Bistro and Teppanyaki with La Cucina being our least favourite. -Teppanyaki is always excellent but be prepared for a very noisy experience as this place is huge. Haven restaurant was top notch. The casino had it’s friendly moments and not so friendly ones ugh. For smokers there is a private smoking area with both table games and plenty of slots. Entertainment around the ship was pretty good. The local on the 7th floor was always hopping as the band below on 6th was really good and drew a healthy crowd. We went to see Jersey Boys with our 14-year-old grandson. I figured he wouldn’t even know any of the songs but he really enjoyed it and so did we. Fantastic production The week we sailed must not be a very popular one because it really wasn’t very crowded on the ship (Dec 8 - 15) But I can see how the elevators could be a real issue. As for the ports, in Saint Thomas we went straight to Emerald Beach as we have been there before and it’s beautiful. TAXI’s are $6 per person to get there. We did Virgin Gorda snorkeling in Tortola. Beautiful sail out there and lots of swimming/snorkeling while there. The boat guide takes you through the rocks, which might not be for everybody, as there is a lot of tight spaces, awkward stairways and low areas. In Nassau we splurged and did Dolphin interaction at Atlantis. i’m not sure it was worth $200 US per person but we have never done it before and it was an experience. It is a bit rushed so you don’t really get to enjoy everything that the Aquaventure has to offer and with four ships in port at the same time it was a real treat (not) at the pier. The Bliss itself is still a new shiny ship and quite lovely. Nice to see the muted tones instead of the garrish purple and orange on some of the older ones. The observation lounge on the 15th floor is massive and a must-see. Read Less

We were on the Dec 8-15, 2018 Bliss Sailing from Miami for an Eastern Caribbean Cruise, it was myself & my adult son. For both of us, this was only our 2nd cruise ever, the first being on the Disney Dream in Dec 2015. The Dream was a great cruise, the the Bliss was OVER the top !!! LOVED it !!!! To start off with, we were in Stateroom 8134, which was a mini suite with Large balcony. We LOVED this stateroom, the location was perfect, the room was huge, & the balcony was great for sitting on each morning & soaking in the beautiful ports. We also both added on a Thermal Suite Pass before sailing (did it online) & that was a huge plus for this cruise. We would book this room again in a heartbeat, but we have decided to book a spa mini suite for our Dec 12, 2020 sailing instead on the Encore because we do not want to risk them selling out the Thermal Spa passes, because for us, that was the highlight (of many) of this cruise !! The embarkation process was seamless, we were told to arrive no earlier than 11:00 & time given was 12:00, we got there about 11:10 & we were on the ship within 15 mins.. VERY quick !!!! We did not use a credit card, we put down $800 cash at guest services as soon as we got on the ship & I had $140 left on the night before, which was returned to us at guest services. You can monitor your balance on the NCL App (which was GREAT) & also on your stateroom TV... I booked this trip myself, all thru the NCL App & online, & I have to say it was SO EASY to use before the trip to book our excursions, make payments to pay off the trip, book dining reservations, watch down countdown ticker, get directions to the port (from the app), & EVERYTHING !!! I highly recommend the NCL app & their website, I think it is much user friendly than some other cruise lines in booking & everything.. I checked out other websites for our next cruise & kept coming back to NCL for the food, service, ease of booking, & of course, the Thermal Spa !!! The food was awesome !! We did not have a Dining Package or Drink Package because we just are not big drinkers & we like the ease of eating when we are hungry & not being stuck to a reservation (another reason we love NCL) & the only two dinner reservation we had were at Los Lobos, the Mexican restaurant, & Q, & both were AWESOME !!!! We are from TX, so we LOVE our Mexican food, & they did not disappoint !!! The margaritas were great, the table side guacamole was perfect, & the restaurant is beautiful. We also had a reservation at Q, the Barbecue restaurant, & it did NOT disappoint !!! I had the salmon, my son had the all meat platter (ribs, brisket, etc) & it was perfect. We topped it off with pecan pie & brownie sundae..... MMMMM !! But the place we visited most for the lunch/dinner, was the Garden Cafe.. It was perfect !!! We went during non peak times (no breakfast-- we used room service every morning for breakfast) & the lunch/dinner options were out of this world !!! Burgers/hotdogs (grilled to perfection), grilled chicken, fish, pasta, all kinds of potatoes, breads, salads, you name it, they had it !!!! The desserts were plentiful as well. We had the soda package, but rarely used it because we LOVED the mango water available in the Garden Cafe.... Next time, we may just purchase the soda per glass, since we did not drink that much soda. We also ate twice at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, for the $15 cover charge per person, I felt this was well justified for ALL the food you get.. You get appetizer, meal, & dessert & the service & meal was VERY good !!!! We are also huge water drinkers.. so we ordered the 24 pack of Liter size water bottles, they were in our room when we arrived, but there were only 20 bottles, so I had to call twice to get the other 4 bottles to guest services, they finally arrived that evening. The only complaint I had was that rooms were to be ready at 1:00-1:30, but our room was not ready until 2:30 & I had to have our room Steward come back to vacuum the floor because there were multiple hairs on the carpet in front of the desk where the hair dryer was & on the first evening after we took a shower, there must have been a hair clog or sand in the shower because the shower was almost spilling over into the floor because it would not drain hardly at all. They came out the next day & resolved the issue & even called back to ensure it was working properly.. GREAT service !!!! Our room Steward was great !! We pre-paid our gratuities before the sailing, but we still gave him $20 on the first day & $5 daily during the cruise & another $20 at the end of the cruise because he was so AWESOME !!! He always knew us by our names, worked so hard to keep our room clean, & kept us in stock on towels !! Shout out to Neil Fuentes for making our vacation so memorable !!! We did not do the race carts (bad back & too many stories about people getting rear ended by others) & we did not do the laser tag. We did the tube slides & that was tons of fun! We went to Spice H20 area, but the smell of smoke was not pleasant. The goal of this trip for us was RELAXATION & the Thermal Spa went above & beyond for us in this area & is the primary reason we have booked our next cruise with NCL. The spa was beautiful, the chairs, the pool, & the view out the huge windows was intoxicating, we were there once to twice daily & it never seemed overly crowded to us. We did two excursions, the Powercat Snorkel & Beach in St Thomas & it was so fun !!! NCL was top notch in gathering everyone in the theater & the woman that directed each of the excursions groups was top notch !! The captain on the Powercat was great (and not bad on the eyes either), we saw sea turtles while snorkeling (they clean the gear in bleach before/after each use) & they made the beach & excursion trip overall so MUCH fun !! We would book this again in a heartbeat !!! The ship was called the Cruzan Breeze !! The second excursion was on Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter, while the dolphin encounter was the highlight, we spent a LOT of time standing in line on the ship to get off, a lot of time beside the ship waiting for the excursion leader to walk us to the boat & we barely had any time to relax on the beach after the dolphins encounter. We did enjoy it, but we would not do another excursion on the last day again, we would instead spend it in the Thermal Spa relaxing. Thank you NCL for making memories that will last a lifetime & we can't wait until Dec 2020 for our next sailing on the NCL Encore !!! Read Less
