We chose this ship because we wanted to go the Panama Canal for years now and finally decided to take the plunge. NCL is the best cruise line out there and decided the Bliss was how we were going to do it. Ship is amazing and the crew was phoenominal. We will never cruise with any other cruise line. Saw Prohibition. I was worried because I am not a hard liquor drinker but what the give you at the show was great. Not too strong. Not too weak. Also booked the Vibe. It’s the only way to go if you like to sunbathe. Quiet and you never have to hunt for a lawn chair but there are limited passes so book as soon as you get on board. Food out of this world. We ate mostly at the non specialty restaurants but were lucky enough to be invited to the Haven one night for dinner again unbelievably good. Just made platinum. Next stop platinum plus. Read Less

We decided to try the Bliss for our first Panama cruise and are happy that we did. Some of the major key factors were that it leaves from where we live and it’s brand new. From the moment you get on the ship ( check in staff at the pier was a joke ) you are in awe. She is definitely huge and beautiful. There is much to see on her. Many great photo opportunities. Our balcony on the 13th floor was perfect. Your normal balcony. Room steward Marion was excellent but we did hardly see him. The gym was a little small for the amount of us that do visit it. Visited the salon for a haircut avd had massages and a facial book that I later cancelled due to the high tension sell on unwanted products. The observation deck was nice but yes as you have read on reviews there are many folks that treat it as if they were camping. We usually just passed through it and saw what we wanted to see from our balcony. Front desk staff when we did encounter them were friendly and helpful as everyone throughout the ship was. Extremely friendly and always smiling. We took most of our meals at Savor and hostess May, server Aida and Mark were surpurb!!! Allan at the Mix bar was outstanding also. The food was pretty much food throughout just a few dishes being a little on the salty side. Pool deck area was nice and enjoyable as well as the slides and the go karts. We did not do the laser tag as I did not care for the theme of it. The entertainment was a hit or a miss. The live bands were fine. Show Havana was terrible. Talent was there but the show had no theme and was just blah. Jersey boys was ok but a little to long for me. Now the comedy was some of the worst I have seen on the open seas. I felt bad for them as the jokes were not even a tad funny. Almost everyone had the same blank is this suppose to be a joke look on there face as I did. We really did enjoy the cruise and had a great time but the reason it is not a 5 star rating is due to the lackluster itinerary. The itinerary had changed 2x by the time we got on and apparently 2 other times from the first booking. And a few of the ports that we had were terrible. Guatemala took the crown as being the worst port ever . Ncl had really dropped the ball on this one. From the long wait time to get on a bus to be taken to a shopping compound to that place having nothing at all. Other than that we will sail with Ncl again. Read Less

We have sailed on Norwegian cruise lines every Thanksgiving for the past 5 years. We have been on the Epic twice, the Escape, the Getaway and now the Bliss. After each cruise, we have sent in comments on the post cruise survey about things we believed NCL could improve on. Well, on this ship, clearly we were not the only ones with the comments, as they have truly addressed any of our comments from prior ships. First of all, the placement of smoking areas were so that non-smokers would not have to travel through smoking areas during their trip. The casino now has a self contained smoking area, so you could actually enjoy the casino as a non-smoker without the awful smell. (No offense to smokers, but I just don't like the smell). The cabin bathrooms were incredible Double sinks with longer countertops - huge bonus! The walk in shower with multiple jets was amazing, and I am definitely going to look to install one of those at home. The Observation deck was such an amazing touch on this ship. I loved the fact that you could sit inside, enjoy a drink, some snacks, listen to music and enjoy the sights of the sea. This was a wonderful place to gather as a family and play card games as well. I did miss the fact that they did not have a dueling piano bar. That has always been such a fun outing for the entire family. They did replace it with more comedy shows, and both comedians delivered fantastic performances. The Beatlemania concert was excellent, as was the condensed version of Jersey Boys. Havana was my least favorite performance, however they did have some great musical numbers. The NCL on board app had vast improvements as well. It never lost service like the old version. My only suggestion to them would be to add an audible noise to alert you of any incoming messages. We ate in Ocean Blue, La Cucina and Le Bistro as our specialty restaurants. All 3 were very good. Ocean Blue involved an added upcharge in addition to using one of our specialty credits, and although I enjoyed my food throroughly, I would not pay the additional fee to try that one again. The Laser Tag experience was enjoyable for the entire family. If you would like to use the Laser Tag and Go Carts on board, I would suggest booking those at one of the touch screens around the ship upon your arrival, as the slots book up fast. Our go cart timeslot was rained out, however we were able to secure a ride on a standby basis a few days later. If you have never sailed Norwegian, and are looking for a great ship, the Bliss is the way to go. Read Less

Good deal with drinking package and dinning package for a balcony room. Specialy dinning was lacking. Cagneys was not good and Ocean Blue was overpriced. The Hibachi was very good. The casino was large and nice. Lot's of bars and venues to socialize in. Game shows were fun but should actually be adult only. The pool area is small. Only one adult pool which kids are allowed to go in. The jacuzzis were very small and always being used. The dinning rooms were very nice and the food was overall good. Jersey Boys was outstanding. Staff was not overly friendly. Some staff were very nice and some were not. A lot of them were not personable like I've experienced on other cruise ships. The cruise directors were very friendly and got people involved. The gym was very small for the amount of passangers on the ship. Had to go in the middle of the afternoon so it wasn't as busy. Overall, enjoyable experience. Read Less

First cruise on Norwegian, went with 2 other couples. Very large ship with many, many people. Reservations go very quickly but we knew that and reserved ahead of time and right after we boarded. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Bars are beyond numerous. Food was excellent except for a few exceptions. Mini Suite is a suite on a cruise ship but bathroom was large with 6 separate shower jets and a double sink, NICE! Just a couple of negatives. Specialty restaurant La Cucina is nothing special, many of food items are available in main dining room, service was very slow here and subpar, disappointing. Fee for Go Carts $99.00 is not worth it at all, explanation given to me was not correct, you got no special privileges and track kept breaking down due to children using the go carts and not knowing how to operate the vehicles, wait time is sometimes in excess of 1 hour. DO NOT BUYTHE GO CART PASS! One of the Broadway Plays, “Jersey Boys” stated no one under 16 yet there were kids 7, 8 and 9 watching the play and playing games on their cellphones, embarrassing and distracting. Elevators tend to get crowded. Make sure you get a reservation for the specialty restaurant “Cagney’s“. Amazing and well worth it. Service was phenomenal here and food was superb, also the Japanese restaurant was well worth it. No reason to sit down for breakfast as the buffet has everything and I mean everything. Just one other complaint I heard was bottled water is not a part of ultimate drink package and it is expensive. Aside from just a few minor details my wife and I really enjoyed our first cruise with NCL. Read Less

This is our 5th cruise on NCL and definitely would say this was our best ever! The ship was amazing and after sailing on the Getaway and Escape, I would say NCL really got it right with the Bliss. It is a very sophicated ship - the new lounges (both on 15 and for Haven guests on 16) are amazing and a well use of space, the location of Le Bistro makes much more sense and the close-off of the smoking section of the casino has made a huge difference in limiting smoke smell in the main areas of the ship. The atrium remains "the heart and soul" of the ship with many of the activities held there. Seating is still a challenge so anything NCL can do to address that would be most welcome. Silas and Jacky from the cruise staff are the best and truly set the tone for the cruise. It was a very fun cruise and we all had a wonderful time! Our cabin was great (see below). Food was outstanding except for La Cucina. It was fine but they seemed to have moved away from traditional italian menu options and heard a number of other cruise guests complain about La Cucina. I suggest go back to what works and stick to more traditional menu. Cagney's is always the best! Haven restaurant was great. Entertainment was outstanding and enjoyed by my entire family. The Havana show is a must see and Jersey Boys will not disappoint. The various shows/programs held throughout the ship were a ton of fun and as mentioned above, Silas and Jacky really created a fun and inviting envirnoment. Read Less

We are first timers traveling with experienced family members that cruise yearly. The Bliss had excellent service, excellent food, the variety of food is fit to meet every palate, very clean, pleasant employees. In the dining rooms the employees just wished away all the dirty dishes very quickly. They exceeded our expectations. The entertainment was wonderful. The casinos were fun and affordable. We purchased many professional pictures. They were extremely organized in getting people off and on the ports. The staff were always waiting with drinks and a cool towel when we returned from our excursions. There were several employees that we almost felt like family. They were so pleasant. We also enjoyed the Havana and Jersey Boys. They were Broadway quality plays. After we arrived to our home port we cried all the way home. We can't wait to be back. Thank you Norwegian for giving us the best experience. Read Less

We did the Thanksgiving week cruise out of Miami on the new ship the Bliss! Kind of like the old ship only bigger. We were really excited for this cruise and the kids were super pumped about the go karts and laser tag. The only problem is they never got to use them as they were all reserved before we even boarded. The reservation system was horrible as multiple reservations we made were no where to be found for both dinning and activities. We were not the only ones with this problem as on Thanksgiving we were pushed to the side with all the other families that they had "lost" the reservations. Demanded to speak to a manager and they refused. Of course it was now going to be over an hour wait and our 5 year old was not going to sit there for over an hour in hopes getting a table. So we had to go to the buffet and sit there all dressed up....not good. Same problems with the go karts....lost reservations. The shows were not appropriate for younger kids so we had to leave both of them (would have helped if they told us that when we booked them). The movies on board (not many) were shown on the screen over the pool and again were not geared to younger kids. It was mostly football that was shown here anyways. The service in the restaurants was spotty as they brought the wrong orders once (then you had to wait all over again) and took me going to a manager to get served another night (just poor organization). The service in the pub was horrible and you had to go to the bar to get anything and clear your own table. The food was just ok as they seem to be pushing the upgraded restaurants if you want better food now. There is a couple of other new features on this ship with the observation deck (napping lounge) and the draft house. Cool spots but I miss the ice bar. The kids club was awesome as usual and all those folks did a wonderful job! The room steward also did a great job and never missed a beat. The casino was packed as usual but seemed to be better separated for the smokers so the smell was not as bad and that was nice. Most everything else was the same old NCL. After these problems with reservations we are going back to RC for the next one. Read Less

Pros: Ruby was an excellent bartender. Highly recommended. Very friendly, happpy and energetic. The observation lounge is amazing, plus food and snacks. You get quite a view and a relaxing area for all to spend some time together. Los Labos was excellent and huge food portions. You must like Mexican. Great guac and skirt steak. La Bistro was excellent. The food tasted so good. I recommend the filet or the shrimp. Ocean Blue was good but little portions. The taste was superb. Cons: Stay out of the casino the worst odds I ever saw. What are they trying to do pay the ship off in a year? Just be careful if you do gamble. Not worth it. Food service at La Carina needs work. Very slow and small portions. Don’t go hungry. They also never offered us if we wanted wine or a drink. Gave us water but little Refills. Read Less

So a little background we have sailed on the Escape three times (awesome), Disney a few, and carnival a few as well. This trip was had extended family with us, 26 people in total traveling. Ages from 2 to 70. The Ship. Positives. No smoking in the Casino would be #1. On the escape all three open decks smell like smoke, the bliss does not have that. A major improvement is the pool deck. The more open concept makes it easy to watch the little one and we never had a problem finding seats. Both the laser tag and race cars were fun (90 minute wait for cars with an appointment. ) Los Lobos was amazing, we ate there twice. Great service very good food. Teppanyaki was also very good. The observation deck was super nice, and always empty. I spent nights there waiting for the Teen to get in (aka reading at the bar). We purchased internet again this time around, It sucked less than on the escape, but it worked. Jersey boys was very good. It was long but they can sing well, totally worth it. As others have said embarkation was a breeze, practically walked on board. We waited no longer than 10 minutes. Getting back on board in port was also smooth. The whiskey bar staff. They were great. We are not mixed drink people, we may be now. 9.95 app, still well worth it. Free would be better but it kept us in touch. The negatives. #1 the space for dueling pianos and comedy. It is sorely missed on this boat. The social is a waste of space, and the silent disco is a bit creepy IMO. Service at Cagney’s. let’s just say a near 4 hour disaster on Thanksgiving, Meals wrong, 2 tables served 45 minutes apart. I’m still not sure my table had a waiter, other than the manager. The absolute worst service I have ever had at a restaurant. Getting off the ship. Both in the Bahamas and in Miami. A major wait. I understand the Bahamas as we were cleared late, but communication as pretty poor. Dance parties near the Pool. On the escape they were at the back of the boat and drew a fun crowd. Putting it on the pool deck it seemed spread out and just so/so. My teen hated them this trip, loved them last. Teen club, she also did not like the space and missed it being smaller on the top deck. Moving the Chocolate cowboy to the mojito bar. He is still awesome, just seemed so much happier at the 5’oclock somewhere bar. He was a fixture on the escape. Havana… was horrible. Half our party is Cuban, they laughed through most of it The… so/so Music. We loved it on the escape. Here it was ok. Silus the cruise director. He was ok when we saw him, but not super motivational. When Tyler Grey was on the Escape, he was amazing and kept the boat rocking! Our room steward. I never saw him. My wife did once or twice. Asked for a few things that he never followed up on. Also, when he cleaned the shower, he left the water on scalding hot. Glad I noticed before someone got burned. On several of our last cruise’s I always tip extra to our steward as they have done a great Job.. This guy, let’s just say if I could have found him I would have passed on tipping. Garden café. Not bad, not great. Dining, Dinners: Manhattan room the first night. It was good. 26 people, 2 tables, Fast service. I think of the 26 people 1 person did not like the meal. That’s not bad in my opinion. Teppanyaki the second night. It was very good, our chief was awesome. Everyone loved it Food republic. It was good, same as the Escape. They did not have the coconut desert A fav. Los Lobos was very good Ocean Blue, It was also very good. I’m not sure worth the upcharge. But everything was hot, severed properly and tasted very good. Cagney’s. An utter disaster! See above or the Cagney’s rib eye thread for details. An absolute disgrace. Los lobos again. Delon as our server I cannot praise enough. Great job, great meal. others Taste for lunch, it was not bad. MargaritaVille for lunch was pretty good. Garden Café so so Observation lounge, A nice place for a nice light lunch. Salad, bread, some cheese and wine. The local. Good for late night pie or a hot dog. Ports, we do love these ports St Thomas, Myself and DD #1 diving with JJ Divers (loved it), wife and DD #2 twice as nice booked through NCL. They had a good time, we have done this in the past. Tortola , almost everyone went to Jost Van Dyke. Love the island. I wish the NCL booked trip lasted longer. They run a late and an early boat. I wish they ran 1, and had more time there. My 2nd fav place on the planet. Nassau . Wife and DD#2 and most of the group went to Atlantis. They had a good time, but with the late port clearance they all wanted more time. Myself and DD#1 went diving with Stuarts cove. Pick up was hectic, the dive was amazing. Baby shark doo doo… lots of mommy sharks doo doo. Over all we had a nice Vacation. The new ship is just ok. We loved the Escape, we are sailing again on NCL. But I really doubt we will sail on Bliss again, unless it’s for an Alaskan trip. It really just did not live up to our expectations. Read Less

You need to understand that I'm probably one of the worlds pickiest eaters. No really I helped the medical community discover many thousands of adults that have the same disorder ARFID. So my wife and I chose the Bliss because of past experiences on the Breakaway and the Getaway which we had great times on and I was able to find enough food that I could tolerate at the Garden Cafe. So my review will not cover all the upscale dining on the Bliss which has many many choices. I'm going to cover the eating issues at the end of this review. Now here is the rest of the ship review first. The Casino was outstanding. The best I have ever seen on a cruise ship. Over 300 brand new slots and table games with seperate smoking and nonsmoking areas. However the smoke did leak out to the nonsmoking portion when the doors to the smoking section were opened and closed. The leaked smoke was a minor problem that did not affect most of the non smoking portion. My wife had 3 wins of $200 and one $400. Seemed to me like the machines were looser than many you play in shore based casinos. I would caution that they seemed to tighten up quite a lot on the last day. While we are discussing gaming let's talk about the Bingo game on the last day of the cruise. Bingo really is a suckers game but the Bliss took it to a new level. There were probably 250 people playing the game and the average cost per person including the additional sale of cards just before the last game was easily around $50 per person. So I would guess the revenue collected was near $14,000. The event consisted of three games. The first two were some sort of regular Bingo and the last was a cover all in 47 numbers or less for a prize of $5000. If no one got their card blacked out the prize was reduced to around $500 and continued until a blackout was completed. Of course no one blacked out their card in 47 numbers. It is ridiculous to think anyone would ever win the $5000. Look at it this way you need 24 of the first 47 numbers called to be successful blacking out your Bingo card. That would leave 28 other numbers that were not drawn yet. If you look at this in reverse. When was the last time you ever had a Bingo card go through the first 28 numbers and not have a single one of those numbers on the card? The odds of a blackout in 47 number is so small. I wonder if NCL has ever had to pay the $5000 jackpot. So at the end of the Bingo game The Bliss paid out about $1750 total which included blackout and the first two games prizes. I would guess the ship made a tidy profit of $12,000 to $13,000. I have been on cruises that each day the blackout number was raised by 1 making it slightly more possible to win the jackpot So if you love Bingo go ahead and play. Just don't expect to ever win the $5000 jackpot by blacking out in 47 numbers or less. Excursions were just OK. The Bliss is so big that many regular cruise ports can not accommodate the size of the ship. So in 4 of the 5 ports we visited we were docked in an industrial location. In those locations you either had a tour bus at dockside or if you wanted to wander on your own shuttles were provided to the port entrance. I was in the US Navy and if you were on a small destroyer port visits were lots of fun and the local populace treated us well while ashore. One thing that would always ruin a visit was the docking of an Aircraft Carrier with 5000 crewman. Well you might say the Bliss and mega ships like it are the Aircraft Carrier of the cruise ship world. My wife and I are not very mobile so the excursions we took were always on an air conditioned bus. The Bliss had all excursion passengers assemble in the Theater. Then we would be called one group at a time and hustled down 3 or 4 flights of stairs. Only to stand in long lines while waiting to board the tour busses waiting for us on the pier. This hurry up and then stand in line left our legs feeling weak. So in the next ports we timed leaving the ship to about 10 minutes before the excursion groups departed. We were able to locate our bus that had a sign on it describing what tour it was. This provided us a way to always get a great seat in the front of the bus. This could be a great tip. Seems each of our tours were accompanied by 4 or 5 other packed buses going to the same places. So it was always hurry up move along. Watch out you don't run into another traveler. Sometimes I felt like the ball in a pinball machine moving through the crowds at each location. Finding a bathroom during the tour was always a problem. Some of the other excursions for more mobile travelers might have been better. Now when you review the entertainment on the Bliss we have a great review There were so many great shows to see. I especially liked the Jersey Boys the last night of the Cruise. Wow what a great show it was. The audience was so pleased with the performance. Havana was really great also. The Beatles band put on a great show featuring the early sounds of the group. Place was packed to gills. There were other musical acts that were all great to listen too at various locations around the ship. The go kart track was just terrific. I lapped my wife twice. It is really neat that all the cars are electric powered. You would never know it. The cost was about $10 per person for about 8 to 10 laps on the course. If you like water parks the Bliss has some very interesting water slides including the one that you just get dropped straight down. I have never seen anything like it on a Cruise ship before. The internet was great once I got it working. I would advise you to create your login on one of the internet cafes terminals before trying it on your phone. You will probably save lots of time and aggravation if you do it that way. Everytime you use it make sure you enter logout.com to finish your session. A really great part of this ship is the service and the crew that provides it. Wow what a great group of dedicated people. From our steward to the food service staff including the bartenders at all the bar locations. The Bliss just has terrific people everywhere. They deserve 5 stars plus. There is so much that I did not cover. I really like this ship and my wife and I prepaid a deposit for two future cruises with NCL and we are hoping to do more on the Bliss. Now my food issues. I hope someone from the Bliss food service reads it. As I mentioned I'm the worlds pickiest eater. I have a web site called www.pickyeatingadults.com established in 2003. I have found out that the world is populated with lots of people just like me. Most of them never like to talk about it. Here is all I need to be happy regarding food and then I will grade the bliss on how they did. In the morning some toast, crispy bacon, cereal, plain pastry, and a cold glass of milk. This has been my breakfast for most of my adult life. Really it's very simple. I will give the Garden Cafe a B for breakfast. The serving line had many commercial grade toasters and lots of bread stations in the Buffet lines. It was very easy to toast your bread of choice. There was lots of cereal along with cold milk. Never had a problem with milk. I did stockpile extra milk in our cabin's now empty mini fridge. I like pastry like a plain sugar donut. Never did find a single plain donut anywhere during any meal. The reason for the B is the bacon. While it was plentiful and usually well cooked it was at times so thick and tough to chew. Many times I would start to chew a strip of bacon and ended up spitting it out because it was so tough. On our last NCL cruise started from Miami the bacon was always perfect as you would ever get on a cruise ship. Could be the west coast supplier of bacon to NCL should be changed or at least obtain bacon that is not so thick. Lunch and dinner C All I require is more of what I like for breakfast or I do like a grilled cheese sandwich made with white bread and American cheese. French fries like you would get from Mcdonalds, plain cake or donuts, Cold milk. This is really simple. How did Bliss do? Never saw a grilled cheese once. The French fries were great if you could get them hot. That was the problem. Almost always they were cold or worse. Seems the staff is making them too fast and they get a pile that is too big which results in loss of all heat before someone puts them on a plate. The wonderful toasters during breakfast are all stowed away during lunch and dinner. Also there was no plain sliced bread available. I was able to find some pound cake that was great once in awhile. There was never any milk unless you took it from the dispenser located in the coffee area. I have to admit the dispensers provided some really great cold milk. Like most ships Bliss has soft ice cream dispensers at about 6 stations in the Garden Cafe. They were almost always working and full. One small problem was the temperature of the product was always high enough to make the ice cream runny. You could not make a cone that was very tall because it would run over the sides of the cone if you tried. I tested these machine at off hours when they were not being used very much. Always runny was what I found. The staff needs to lower their set temperature probably about 5 degrees to dispense a more satisfying product. My food review could be much better if a few changes are made. I hope the Bliss staff will read this review and make their ship a place people like me would always want to visit. It's a great ship overall. I doubt any other cruise line has a better one. I highly recommend you take a cruise on the NCL Bliss. Picky eaters hopefully things will improve for you soon. It would be so simple. Read Less

Most fun cruise I had so far this year, Bliss was beautiful and entertainment was a blast. Jackie Tang is the best at keeping us entertained. The Battle of the sexes had me on the flood laughing so hard. The ports were beautiful and the food was delicious. It rained a few hours while at sea but it didn't last for long. The Cabin was always clean and the crews are friendly. The announcements are clear from the bridge and from the cruise director. The guest were friendly and everyone on board was smiling and having a good time, not sure if the good time was due particularly to the Ultimate drinks package, but no obnoxious drunks or drunken events occurred. The ship was not overly crowded with over 4 thousand guest s including 1200 kids but it was all for the thanksgiving week so families are getting away for the holidays and enjoying the 75 degrees weather compared to -20 snow storms that were happening up North. This is a short review of the NCL Bliss which departed November 17th for the Inaugural 7 night Caribbean Sailing. I had a group of 103 people sail on this ship and more than half of them stated to me they would not sail on this ship again which is troubling for me to hear. Our group has done the Getaway, Escape, Jade, Sky, and now the Bliss which underperformed in many areas. This was my 44th cruise and I'm a Platinum member on NCL. This cruise was average to just under average which was really disappointing. Embarkation was very smooth, little hectic, but I thought the employees did very well. As we boarded the ship, the initial staff was very friendly. On Deck 6 there was a long line already set at noon to sign up for the go carts and laser tag. Unbeknownst to me there was a limited amount of all inclusive packages for these on the ship. This information was no where to be found on the NCL.COM. It was also learned at that time each ride or play was $10 per person so for a family of four is $40 for one trip on the go carts. Our group had many kids, including myself, who didn't even get an opportunity to ride the go carts as they were sold out or as a walk up was a two hour wait on different occasions. Also on Deck 6 was the dining reservationist. Most of our group had the 4 nights UDP, however, when we went to make reservations, they were told all specialty dining was sold out. Luckily for me, I had scheduled mine ahead of time, but to not have any reservations open for people with the package is very disappointing. I actually had to go to three different Matri D's and beg for them to allow people in my group to make reservations for whatever was available. On the second night of the cruise I received a message in my cabin from Guest Services that my children had racked up a $408 Arcade charge and they wanted me to be aware of these charges. I thought to myself that was very thoughtful. The next day a client of mine told me there was an unlimited arcade package you could purchase for $175 per person. I was never given this information and when I went down to guest services, I was told it was too late to sign up for this. I asked the guest services why I wasn't offered this on the phone during the message and was given the "I don't know" response. This was very disappointing to me as a Platinum level guest (my own kids fault in the end) On the second night of the cruise we had a table of 8 at Cagneys. The food was average, just warm, not hot, service was slow, and it took us 2.5hrs to eat dinner for all of us. The restaurant was oversold and understaffed. Needless to say, we didn't go back. Third day of the cruise, at 11am couldn't find two pool chairs that were together. Couldn't get bar staff to walk upstairs for service and the two bars were three rows deep. This was like this every day at sea and we had to go to Spice to find a chair to lay in and leave the kids in the main pool area with friends. This cruise was apparently overbooked for the social areas of the ship. The only spot available was the Observation Deck which never felt overcrowded. I won't go into the fact we had a broken propeller which rocked the ship so bad our clothes hangers were clanging all night and falling. We left late for Tortola and the ship just never seemed to be smooth sailing. The buffett's food was luke warm at best, no clear way in or out, people cutting in line constantly to get food, no bar service as I was told to go to the back of the ship or outside, just not typical NCL. Most disappointing of the entire cruise for me was the fact I never got a phone call from the group coordinator and if I didn't go to Guest Services myself on Thursday, I would of never met her. I have been the group leader on many NCL cruises where the group coordinator reaches out with their name and number and to see if our group needs anything whatsoever. I didn't receive one phone call at all! These are just a few complaints from me, however, most of the group was very unhappy with the vibe of the ship. Everywhere you turned it seemed like nothing was included except for the drinks I ordered. This is extra, this is extra, that is extra, and it just went on and on. I won't go into detail of others who were booked with me because you do have some rockstars on that ship. On Deck 8 at the SugarCane bar with Clarence (Cowboy) and Marcos and Bong, those guys work very hard, always have a good smile, remember people's name and drinks, but they belong at a better bar. Gerry, the matri d at the Q was awesome, always friendly, and made sure our dinner was very good. William, my room steward was excellent. New my name first day and my kids. Always did everything we asked and just a really good employee. Many of the Casino staff were very friendly, helped teach me some of the games, and always seemed very patient. They did a really good job. All in all the cruise was very disappointing to say the least, especially for the price paid for two balcony cabins (over $6k). The ship in itself is a beautiful ship, but I don't think I would ever go back on the Bliss, however, I would on the Escape or Getaway which happens to be two of the best ships you ever built. I am booked in the Haven for the Pearl departing 01/12/2019 out of Tampa and hopefully won't be disappointed. Read Less

We chose the NCL Bliss based on the great time we had on a preivious itinerary in June to Alaska. While, at first, we were unsure about a “mega ship”...we had a fabulous time on both cruises. The NCL Bliss traveled to St. Thomas, Tortola, and Nassau...beautiful beach sites with plenty of shopping, excursions, and other activities to chose from. Restaurants on the Bliss range from specialty dining...we chose Cagney’s Steakhouse which is superb in every way — from the sides, steak, and service. We dined at La Cucina and had mouth watering pasta and fish. We are fans of NCL’s freestyle dining which eliminates the scheduled time and place that competitors offer. We like to choose when and where to dine based on activities and schedules, Jersey Boys, Crew International Talent Show, Movie Trivia Skits, Havana, and Levity Comics were entertainment choices we enjoyed. Music tastes cover any style....easy listening, Caribbean, soul, lounges....dancing... We liked the race car track too..fun idea for a cruise ship...don’t miss it. Are we fans of NCL? You bet! But, we appreciate that they continue to “change up” their offerings and provide consistently great entertainment, food, and fun. Highly recommend.... Read Less

My Wife and I, along with some friends and their son, just returned from a 7 days cruise on the NCL Bliss. Overall we had a good time, but this trip didn't measure up to our past 5 NCL cruises. What we liked: Very large new well built beautiful ship; Plenty of excellent options for dinner or drinks, the sealed off smoking section in the casino (finally they got it right and stuck all the smokers in a closed off section so the rest of the non smoking world didn't have to suffer); Starbucks; Itinerary; excursions; embarkation process; the go-kart track (awesome even though it cost $10); lots of patio type wicker chairs along the waterfront to just chill and read; the observation lounge in one of the nicest new features on the ship, it's huge and very comfortable furniture; plenty of food options for a vegan or vegetarian; the fitness center is very well equipped for a good workout or run. What we didn't like: NCL decided that you can no longer go to see a show without a reservation so being that this was a full Thanksgiving cruise we were unable to see one single show that required reservations. On past NCL cruises you could show up and take a seat where available. They have taken the "free" out of "free style" cruising in that aspect. NCL continues to nickel and dime you for any and every little thing that they possible can. You have to pay for the go-karts ($10), drink package doesn't include bottled water ( I can order as many beers and alcohol as I want but can't get a .25 cent bottle of water without paying $6) Jimmy Buffet's food was okay but the surcharge of around $16 per person was ridiculous when they are serving the same food as the buffet. I had two very negative experiences that I will elaborate on a bit more; The first one was the first night when my bag didn't arrive by the 6pm time they indicated it would be left outside our door. I waited until 7pm and then decided to walk the floor to see if I could locate it myself. I ran into one of the stewards and he could have cared less about my missing luggage. He kept telling me to go to guest services on deck 6 to let them know but after a few minutes of standing there with him a crew door opened behind us and my bag magically appeared by another steward that had been listening. The second bad experience was with one of the personal trainers from the fitness center. I attended one of the health related "free" seminars that they conduct throughout the day and decided to get the $99 follow-up analysis done later that day. The printer wasn't working so I was told that the material would be left on my door later that night. When that didn't happen I went by the spa fitness center area to follow-up and they left a note for the trainer who I had worked with. Still nothing. Only on the last day of the cruise when I went by to get a refund did the trainer print out the material for me that he had promised earlier in the cruise. Very poor follow-up and customer service! Overall we had a good time relaxing on the ship and luckily they have starting charging for the public chairs yet. :) Read Less

New Ship birthday celebrations with entire family Couldn't of asked for a better week from the boarding process to embarkation and everything in between. Amazing cabin steward good dining options never had to wait for anything considering there were 4000 people on this ship. Can't wait to cruise again. Thebecause someone always had to be back to watch the little ones. shows were great my kids did the Prohibition Show and loved it. WE had 4 children ranging in age from 8 months to 4.5 years old the 2 older ones 3.5 and 4.5 enjoyed the splash academy but the only thing we were disappointed that there wasn't any babysitting or childcare for the 2.5 and the baby. made going out at night rather difficult. Someone always had to be back early and we really couldn't participate in any of the evening activities that looked like a lot of fun.. Read Less

Last year my husband along with friends had the opportunity to cruise on the Norwegian Eacape so that is my only point of reference for my experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience on that ship. While our overall experience aboard the Bliss was great there were quite a few things that need attention. #1 the activities for teenage crowd was minimal except for race car, laser tag, mini golf. Each attraction was only open certain hours during the cruise and for 2 of the attractions it was pay to play each time. Music selection around the pool area was ok and there long intervals of nothing being played at all. 2) as the evening went on and all activities for teenagers were not in operation there were groups of kids running around the ship. Some were rude and disrespectful of the other guests on board cursing, walking on furniture in observation area. Some even appeared to be intoxicated. Aboard the escape there was a curfew for teenage passengers. I feel this should have been in place on Bliss as well. 3) our group did find that some of the bartenders were rude when we would ask for a specific drink to be made a certain way. And the drinks were not that great. Overall our experience was great all the ports were amazing with shopping and tours and excursions. We would definitely cruise Norwegian again although I may choose another ship over the Bliss due to my concerns listed. Read Less

I waned to give everyone a quick review of our cruise on the bliss during Thanksgiving week. All in all it was great trip. Lets start with getting on the ship. We took a early flight out of Norfolk and landed in Miami 9:00. After getting our bags (which took forever but that is a different story) we took a taxi to the terminal. We got to the terminal around 10:15 or so and went to check in. Had to wait 15 min in line to go threw security and then to get our keys. We got on to the ship around 11:15 and got in line to do the go carts and lazor tag. Took only 15 min. We went straight to the bar (The local). The service is good and started our cruise. The food at the local was ok not great but still it was great just to relax. Rooms where ready around 2:30 and actually our luggage arrived around 5:00. First night we went to the seafood restaurant for dinner, Great food and great service. We highly recommend this restaurant to eat. On to the casino, very disappointed in the craps table, it was $25 limit. Too high for my blood. It was always 25 limit each evening but did go to $10 limit during the day when it was open. If they are going to have $25 craps they should have another craps table. There is plenty of room. All the speciality restaurants( we tried them all) are very good food and service except for Los Lobos. The service was very poor here as well as the food was not the greatest. Not sure if the food was that bad but the service just made the experience that bad. The entertainment was very good, If I where you I would try it all even going to all the bars try the entertainment in those bars. I have heard a number of people who complained about the elevators on the Bliss, other than the first day we never had any big issues getting on and off. Remember folks there is 4000 people on the ship so don't get to upset if you have to wait 4-5 min. Just to finish this up we very happy with the ship and service, food was much better than expected even in the buffet where we actually had prime rib one evening. I do want to bring one bad experience we had was the one night we had reserved for Thanksgiving night. We reserved a night in the dinning room and according to the Maitre D the next evening they they lost all reservations for the dinning room for that evening. We where not told that when we checked in only it would be an hour before we could be seated. I was not a happy camper. Nobody at the desk could explain what the problem was so we where very disappointed. I did discuss this with the Maaitre D the next day that he should have been in the fire at the desk to explain what the problem was but he was no where to be found. The next night while we where having dinner the Restaurant Manager (Rogeliza Nanad) found us and explained what happened and we had a great 15 min conversation with her. She is top notch and will to help anyone out. We have developed a great relationship with her and this is one of many reason that we Booked the Encore for Thanksgiving as she will be on the ship. If anyone has any questions please put a notice on cruise critic and I will answer all your questions. I hope this helps everyone and sorry if things are a little jumble up. Read Less

My family has cruised with NCL many times and NCL will still be our continued choice. However, the Bliss was very dissapointing and we will never go on it again. Fist off it is to big, we were not able to do hardly any of the activities due to everything being booked up. We paid for the specialty dinning package for 3 specialty restaurants and we're only able to eat at 1 due to them being booked up the entire week. We werent able to do the go carts, laser tag, or mini golf due to them all being booked up the entire week. We also weren't able to go the the comedy club at all due to it being booked up. We tried to book activities the very first day as well as the second day of our trip and we're told everything is full. If you require using the elevator I wouldn't recommend this ship due to the amount of passages you will spend all your time waiting for an elevator. Also, if you want to get a chair around the pool area you must get the very early in the morning or there will be none. We didn't get to enjoy the pool at all unless we just stood. In almost all bars there were only 1-2 bar tenders so be ready to wait for your drink! Read Less

The ship is absolutely beautiful! The layout, the decor, the cabins, the food, the drinks, the entertainment...all of it was just absutely amazing! The Garden Cafe has such a great variety of food, and all of the main dining room restaurants food was really wonderful too! We never felt crowded either. We ate at 3 of the specialty restaurants. Teppanyaki and Cagney's which were just fabulous! We also ate at La Cucina which was just okay meal wise. But in fairness my fiancee is Italian and not many Italian restaurants can cook Italian food as good as he does...but their Tiramisu was to die for! Our favorite places to hang out were the Observation Lounge, Spice H20, and the Whiskey Bar. Vladimir at the Whiskey Bar was our favorite bartender, so go see him if you get a chance! Embarking and disembarking was VERY smoothe considering the amount of people they have to get on and off the ship! The only complaint we have is that we had to make our own coffee and breakfast this morning, after getting home from our cruise yesterday! LOL The Bliss is definitely a must do cruise ship, if you haven't sailed her already! Read Less

Just about everything was incredible on this cruise. Food, entertainment, cabin steward were all wonderful. Silas and Jacky were the best cruise director/assistant cruise director team. Jacky is hilarious and should be a stand up comedian. Observation lounge is amazing. Absolutely beautiful decor. In fact, the entire ship is beautiful, including the artwork all throughout the ship. If I had to give a criticism somewhere, it would be the service in the restaurants...not quite up to par with where it should be. Not terrible, but could definitely be improved. The cruise staff is awesome. Make sure to see the dance competition...it is the funniest thing I have ever seen. The casino is OK. I didn't love it, however I did love the fact that I won all of my money back on the last night! Nice that the smoking section is separate, but if you were anywhere near it, the smoke did waft out in that general area. Overall, a fantastic ship and vacation. Read Less

We have been on 4 NCL cruises and this time we were lucky to get an upgrade to the Haven. This is the first time I am writing a review,so I will apologize ahead for how long it is. I had read many reviews and tips about the Haven experience and my expectations were pretty high. I am happy to say all my expectations were surpassed, from the time we went through the security line and we were whisked away into the private lounge downstairs, checked in there. We were offered some light refreshments and then taken upstairs to comfy chairs to wait for the ship to be cleared so we can board, oh and offered more light refreshments and drinks. We were a little apprehensive because our friends were not in the Haven and we worried about any issues that could arise from this, but our concierge took all that worry away. We had no problem making dinner, show or speciality dining reservations with our friends and we even were able to have them to dinner one evening in the Haven, which was so much fun. We had seen many pictures of the Haven rooms and facilities but I have to say when you walk through the doors into the Haven it was beautiful, pictures do not do it justice. We had the Penthouse Cortyard room, it was nicely decorated and spacious. My only complaint would be the closet could not close with the hangers with the robes on them because it was not wide enough. But there are 2 closets, so really not an issue. The bathroom was a nice size and had a tub and shower combo. We were on deck 17 so we had the bigger balcony but we didn’t real use it because there were so many places to be outside in the Haven that we didn’t want to spend it on our balcony. We had heard sometimes there are a lot of kids in the pool and some people didn’t like that, but after being in here ..yes there are kids in the pool, but I found them to be very nice and the other reason for this is no kids under 16 are allowed out on the sun deck, so for the younger kids this is the only place for them to be in any water. I love kids so it didn’t bother us at all and there were plenty of places for us adults to go in the Haven if you wanted some quiet time or a hot tub to go in. Most times on the sun deck, my husband and I were the only 2 people in the hot tub or on the sun deck. It was amazing. The Haven bar was fun and the bartender s were great, we had Dhruv and Glen who were awesome. Ask them for the Smoky Old Fashion, it’s amazing. Now onto to the Haven Restaurant, I had read many reviews about this and all I can say is Wow. From the time you walk up the stairs and are greeted by the hostess Li Beth with the biggest smile every day to the MaitreD who always was there for anything you needed no request too small to the food which was incredible. Yes the menu does not change, but each dish was delicious, so we didn’t get tired of the menu. We also had 3 speciality dinners. We went to all the shows on the Bliss,. Jersey Boys was awesome. We really enjoyed Havana, some people didn’t enjoy it because it didn’t have a real story line, but it wasn’t supposed to it was about the dancing /era, we thought it was great. Prohibition was a lot of fun, the drinks were good too. The Beatles show for us was just ok. Go carts were a lot of fun, definitely worth a try. We booked this early in the day before any drinking begun..lol. If you get a chance to go on the Bliss you won’t be disappointed, it’s a beautiful ship . I think the improvements with the Observation lounge and moving the cafe to just below it were really a great idea. The Casino was really big,we didn’t do well there, but did see other people win. Still had fun. My husband liked the Humidor better this time because they stopped people from smoking cigarettes in there, so he said it was better. Read Less

We are happy cruising with NCL and wanted to try the newest ship. This was a family Thanksgiving trip. We live in South Florida, about an hour from the port of Miami, so that makes it an easy cruise to get to. We encountered no issues at the port. We had the unlimited beverage package, and on Thanksgiving day we tried to have a drink in every bar, but there are too many and we had to give up and continue the next day. We loved the go carts, but think that everyone should get one free ride. We didn't do the lazer tag because it's nothing special, so why spend the extra money? We did the 'escape room' activity, and really enjoyed it. We didn't hang out at the pools, but they seemed really crowded any time we walked by. The buffet was huge, always crowded, and acceptable food. We really had fun at Q, but we are barbecue lovers. The portions were tremendous! Read Less

This is not only my first time on the Norwegian bliss, but also my first time on a cruise ship altogether. Space first I had a balcony room 14222 In the room was better than expected. It was spacious enough to put all of our clothes away and talk away for suitcases. The bathroom what is large enough to get ready with the shower that I had ample room. The food on the bless is amazing both in the buffet and the restaurants. Hi chose the specialty dining package so I had a choice of three specialty restaurants to attend. I went to Teppanyaki’s, oceans blue, and Cagney steakhouse. All three were better than expected but oceans blue room the top. While On the ship we saw both Havana, and jersey boys. Both shows were worth seeing but the Jersey boys was far better than I thought it was going to be Carrie Though the ship was full, we never had to wait for food or drinks for more than a few minutes. Days at sea the pool was busy, but we were always able to find a seat in the water. The only negative thing I would have to say about the bless is the Manhattan room for dinner what is not of the same caliber as the rest of the restaurants on board. That being said the food was still good and the service was not as efficient as the rest of the ship. Overall this was an amazing experience and I have already booked my next cruise with Norwegian and I cannot wait. Read Less

The only complaint I have is the dining room service was entirely too slow. Your meal would come out separately at times ,15 mins after your first part. Dinner was at 830 I wouldn't leave till 1030 sometimes. I also didnt like that there was no captains ball with lobster served. The go carts were fun.
