We had planned to go to the Mexican Rivera, we had planned for over a year to take this dream vacation. Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) knew before we left port that the ship would need to change destination ports do to a Hurricane Willa heading for Mazatlán. We should have been given the opportunity to opt out or get the cruise at a reduced cost. NCL did not inform us of the change until we had set sail and got out to international waters. The food was only average except for in the specialty restaurants. Most of the bartenders did not know how to make a proper drink. The Bliss being a brand new whip was beautiful The entertainment was OK, nothing spectacular. My wife and I are in our 70’s and this was to be one of our items on our bucket list to have wonderful memories of being on a cruise with my son, daughter in-law, grandson and our in-laws. We are highly disappointed in the cruise and now have no good memoirs of the time we spent together. Read Less

We were supposed to go on a cruise to mexican riviera, it was a bad storm over there and they knew it in advance but didn’t tell anyone until we got on the water so we just cruise around California san francisco & san diego and some other place it was cold. we had all summer clothes. They offer us nothing. The boat was nice, the Entertainment was ok the activities were nice but we didn’t do them because they were outside and it was too cold.but the trip was the worst. We call corporate they were like.sorry the weather not our fault. We knew that so we said are you going to give us anything credit toward our next trip or some money back they were like no we are not giving anything. No credit or money. Nowegian was wrong for this trip. I am going to try others Cruise Lines because this is my 2nd disappointment in nowegian.verry disappointed, disappointed disappointed disappointed disappointed. Uncaring. a lot of people on the boat lived in san francisco and were really upset and we came from new york and stayed 3days in california to hangout and we had fun,to find out we were cruising around California for 2,000 dollars that was some Bull Crap what a waste of my money and time Read Less

We paid over $6000 to do a cruise that took us from one California city to another where the temperature stayed below 60 degrees at every stop! We paid to go to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas and never saw either location! I watched the web cam from the day this ship arrived in L.A. from their Alaska itinerary and the first week you could see the Mexico locations. The second week the web cam shots were different so since I wasn't familiar with the areas I assumed the ship docked somewhere else at the Mexico locations. The third week was the week we sailed. We were maybe an hour out of port and this captain (sounding shocked as ever) comes onto the PA system and announces we're going to San Francisco, San Diego and Ensenada! Really! They changed the schedule the week before and never told anyone! We never saw another ship from any line at any port, not even the one's that left L.A. as we did. When we docked in San Francisco and saw the view, it was the view we saw on the web cam from the previous week! So they knew we were doing an itinerary that a rental car could have done! One excursion was offered in San Francisco, A TOPLESS bus tour! It was COLD and sitting inside the bus it was difficult to see outside because the bus windows (Big Bus) are covered with advertisements! We ran into several people from San Francisco and San Diego, none of them were happy at all. One couple had friends to pick them up at the port and went to lunch and dropped bags off at their home. Imagine driving to L.A. from San Francisco only to have a mega ton ship drive you back to San Francisco (too funny, right?)! Everyone was packed for warm temps and boy did we get surprised! The pool decks at evening/night were empty because it was cold for 6 straight days! The water attractions never opened that week. A few kids played in the kiddy pool when the ship had sunlight but people in recliners were covering themselves with towels! It was an awful decision by Norwegian to switch the itinerary to places that were cold. To ad injury to insult, the embarkation pictures showed the Mexico trip! After people complained they changed the location on the pictures to show you a trip you could have driven in a rental car for a far lower price. We spent 7 days going in a circle at what seemed like 1 knot. By the way, if you're on the ship in a state side port and get that included drink package drink, be prepared to pay state tax and of course the customary tip. They have all these complimentary restaurants on board right? Don't stress about not going to one of them, the menu is the same for Taste, Savor and The Manhattan Room, you won't miss a thing. Avoid staying on a floor with anything other than rooms above you. We were on 18 in the HAVEN! and early every morning and late into every night we heard a 1000 pound gorilla walking and he was dragging a bench behind him! It was noise always! The restaurant menu you get on day 1 is the same menu you get every day or night. If you see a menu and only like 2 or 3 items, you will eat those 2 or 3 items for 7 days! In the Haven you get this invite to a reception with the captain and it was from 7:00PM - 7:45PM, where was the captain? Never saw that guy! We were told a perk to the Haven guess was complimentary access to the Mandara Spa, NOT! We were embarrassed at the spa desk! We were told it's complimentary if you are in a spa suite (a spa suite is a suite with a spa tub)! We upgraded from a spa suite to a penthouse suite costing more money and in the end, got less. By the way, there are only 12 spa suites on the Bliss according to the concierge desk. Imagine the looks (and laughs) we got from guest who were given free access to the spa prior to cruising. Thanks to the concierge who gave us a pass because I was fuming! It appears Norwegian will offer no credit for a far inferior itinerary to guest who sailed October 20 - October 27, 2018. Our butler, cabin steward and haven concierge staff were absolutely AWESOME so they are 10 Star! trust me! You may have heard about Latitudes Rewards right? My wife registered her number and gets points...I can't register my number for some reason and no one has been able to correct this issue. Yes, my card says the same status as hers, but what happens if she kicks my butt to the curb? Cruising is great but remember, you are at the mercy of the cruise line so if they make a decision when you're out on water that you don't like, YOU CAN'T WALK ON WATER (can you?-Lol!!) so you're likely just a duck out of luck! L.A. port embarkation could use a MAJOR upgrade, it's awful! even for Haven guest. We stood in a long line outside a tent basically and when we entered the building, the non-haven line and haven line was the same length, LONG! No snacks like in Miami and you're lucky if the escort doesn't leave you because you're stuck behind others that may not be able to walk as fast as she was walking plus the card entry guy took our picture a second time like they did when we were at the Haven check-in desk (something was odd about him and the way he was acting so I stepped on his side to watch him take a picture of my wife (he was taking 2, 3, maybe 4 shots of her...it was about to get ugly!) and she watched when he took my picture to make sure it was not some sort of game this joker was playing with the pics). I should have trusted more of the reviews I read before spending that much money because they were spot on and would've likely made me shop around and give another line a shot. We will now because truthfully Norwegian 2 out of 4 times has been a major super disappointment. Don't expect much from the workout center. We went 4 of the 7 days and all 4 times half the machines didn't work and there was no attendant. Expect guys to sit around on benches and watch butts (I encouraged one guy to keep it moving as he pretended to play with his phone and snap a pic of my wife's buttocks. We were on elliptical and I looked back at the mirror and could see his phone face showing her butt, so he was busted). The spa is small and not at all quiet even though signs on the wall say "Quiet Area"! Some people in the spa tub/pool spa were loud as heck so we saw a few people (we did as well) exit the facility. I know this is a lot to read. Even though I could go on with more, hopefully this much helps you make an informed decision about Norwegian. A lot of HYPE but average to below average line. Good Luck, hope this helps. Yes, I'm a real normal guy not a paid review person to slam anybody, just a normal everyday guy who hates wasteful spending so don't make the same mistake I made. You have been warned!!! If you like, go to Youtube and see a couple (not me) in cabin 18706 and ask yourself it you see Penthouse in that video (put bliss cabin 18706 in the search and hopefully it's still out there). We booked this cruise because we want to have some warm days, visit Mazatlan und Puerto Vallarta, we got a Cruise up to 71 F in Ensenada. Norwegian Cruise Line had the possibility to inform the passengers before the cruise about the change of the iitineraries with the choice to cancel the cruise. To my opinion they had to cancel the cruise because it was´nt the cruise booked! We expected sun and hot temperatures and not cold weather! We expected Mexico and got a roundtrip of LA! NCL shift the risk to the cruisers and get money because they save fuel! NCL doesn´t matter that the most cruisers don´t want this ports because they live there or were at the ports several times! It looks NCL is only interested in the profit! The second negative point was the large group of travel agents which blocked often public areas, also the pool deck or the smoking area on Deck 17! Now for the actual cruise: The dining was ok. We used 2 times "Le Bistro" and Tepanyaki. We preferred the breakfast in the main diningroom. The buffet restaurant was a disaster from concept, when you come to your seat the food could be cold. The Beatles Show was very good but you had to be in the Cavern Club 30 minutes before the show otherwise you couldn´t get a seat. The room was to small for this shows, also for the shows in the atrium you must be early to get a seat. The Shows iHavana and Jersey Boys were not what we expected, the shows were ok but had not the quality of RCL. The pools were to cold to use them, for the heated pool in SPA you need a pass! On our cruise in summer with RCL from Amsterdam to Stokholm, St. Petersburg and so on I liked going swimming every morning, the pools were heated, I expected the same for NCL! The 3rd time NCL but by far the worst cruise. In San Francisco we walked around, in San Diego we visited Seaworld and in Ensenada we made a shore excursion. Read Less

we cruise about 2 times a year with Carnival, tried NCL Bliss as it was a new ship and sailing out of Los Angeles to Mexico which made it very convenient. Boarded ship and prepared for great mexican riviera cruise (Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo)..after 2 hours we were notified that due to a hurricane we were being diverted and going to San Francisco, San Diego, and Ensenada. They completely lied to everyone who could have cancelled the trip prior to leaving and sail another time however they failed to notify us. TERRIBLE shame on you NCL! The weather was cold and dreary..not exactly what anyone had clothes packed for and due to a travel agency annual convention we were shut out of many areas of the ship during the entire week for private functions including the pool deck on 2 occassions, the bewhouse multiple times, the social club, etc.. The ship is beautiful however our cabin hallway always smelled of diesel burning, not sure why. The ships vibe was very off and during the one day we finally had a little sun they decided to show a movie on the pool deck..no live music, no recorded music..terrible. Never saw any activities on the deck. Diverted us without notice then had no shore excursions planned. People tried to get off in San Fran because they lived there and were denied or it would cost terrible fines. HORRIBLE ANNIVERSARY! NCL offered us NOTHING for this, I understand the hurricane and being diverted but they knew well ahead of time and told us nothing! we could have rescheduled as NOBODY wants to be prepared for warm weather and end up in a cold city where you would pay zero to go as you live close to it anyway. Waste of money and no consolation from NCL. THey should have offered discounts or partial refunds but they did nothing for us at all. Complaining to corporate office..shame on you NCL for not being upfront and honest with your passengers! Read Less

Dealbreaker - Zero compensation for massively changed itinerary: Due to Hurricane Willa, our itinerary changed from the Mexican Riviea to San Francisco, San Diego, and Ensenda. This, of course, is a normal risk for any cruise ship vacation, and my family have been lucky to not yet experience a weather-related issue on a cruise. However, this change happened mere hours after our ship embarked, leading many to feel trapped without the option to potentially cancel or change dates before leaving. It was likely that the tropical storm should have pushed them to announce a potential itinerary change beforehand, perhaps 24/48 hours before the trip. Even worse, once the changed happened, NCL did absolutely nothing for any of the 4000 passengers to even minorly compensate the massive change in destinations. No on-board credit, no future cruise credit, nothing. Nobody on the ship provided could do anything but say "tough luck, should have had travel insurance" to anybody, including those who spent upwards of 8-10k+ on Haven suites, which are the most profitable type of room for the ship. This is a good way to lose customers like myself. Crowded/slow elevators: The elevators on this ship are not properly configured for the number of passengers that can fit on the Bliss. Our previous experiences on multiple Disney (large and small ship) and Princess cruises have not had the same issues with elevators. We would sometimes wait a full 10 minutes for an elevator during busy times. The bliss cannot handle this number of passengers, and it shows in the elevator usage, as well as the general crowded nature of the common spaces. Fortunately, the Haven facilities are not crowded, so we spent much of our time there. In addition, there are only two elevator groups, one in the back, and the other slightly ahead of mid-ship. The result is that everybody from the front and middle of the ship crowd into one elevator shaft/group, making traffic in those areas even worse. Slow and inflexible food service Food quality was generally very good or great, depending on the kind of food you like, but getting the food was often slow, even in the Haven restaurant. Again - it seems like the kitchens may not handle the passenger count correctly. In addition, doing any substitutions, like vegetarian or shrimp/chicken substitutions, were met with either denial or refusal. We never had this issue on Disney or Princess, but NCL's wait staff and kitchen seemed to be inflexible. "Warm" not hot Hot Tubs: For some reason, all the Hot Tubs were only warm, and staff said this was due to some kind of regulations. Princess and Disney did not have this issue, so we were perplexed. The Good: Steward and Butler were extremely helpful and friendly, and restaurant staff were all friendly, even when the food was slow to appear. The Penthouse stateroom was VERY good - lots of space, very clean, and a lovely bathroom and lots of closet space. All Haven locations were uncrowded, clean, and full of helpful staff. The Thermal Suite was AMAZING. The pool and jacuzzi were plenty large and full of bubbles, and the saunas/cold room/salt room were all well kept. The new shore excursion we took in Ensenada was also good - with very friendly staff. Go Karts, arcade/gaming, and onboard live entertainment were all top notch. Overall: Our experience with NCL having zero even minor compensation for a massive itinerary change will keep us away from Norwegian in the future. It's a shame, because if they work on elevator scheduling (possibly with on-demand touch screen floor destinations like competitors do), improved food service speed and flexibility, and some uncrowding through better activity layout, the ship would be great, especially with all the activities to do onbard. However, they lost a future high-paying Haven customer who would have spent a lot more money with them in the future, if they had even offered a small amount of apology and minor compensation for the trip changes. Too bad. Read Less

I chose this cruise because my travel agent organized it. From the cancelled ports of call to the dessert that tasted like compressed sand, the 157 minute dinner service, the elevators being too crowded to fit people resulting in long waits, broken hand towel machines, dirty restrooms, staterooms that resembled those of an RV and then everything being closed for a private event, and NCL catering to a huge group of travel agents, poor entertainment, fitness center which was OK, but didn't allow to use the sauna unless you paid $267 additional - made this cruise was the biggest waste of time and money. I would have never agreed to get on the ship had they disclosed the trip itinerary changes. It was shady they waited until we had set sail to disclose the changes. Not having WiFi we couldn't look into the new ports of call. I had my heart set on Mexico. I have been to San Francisco and San Diego more than any other city in the world excluding the ones where I have lived. Had NCL offered me a deferral on a different date I would have taken it. Instead I paid way too much money to spend a few hours in cities I have been to 40-50 times and would never travel to for vacation. This was disappointing at a minimum. Sorry if my story is not a good one, its just an honest one. I will for sure never choose to book on a ship of this size ever again and likely never go on NCL again. Read Less

If you are planning on booking a cruise on Norwegians new ship the Bliss, DON'T. I was on a cruise October 20th to the 27th. I thought Norwegian was a better Cruise Line then what I experienced. During breakfast there is are a lot of dirty tables that are not cleaned In time by the staff. So you have to stand around and wait for a table to be cleared so you can have breakfast. In the dining rooms, three of the different dining rooms ,I experienced the service was extremely poor. After they serve the food it was hard to get a refill of water or coffee or a drink. The food quality itself is very poor . In the buffet area they serve frozen pizza. Soon as I took a bite of it I knew it was out of a box. The hamburger I had was drier than my shoe again an indication of frozen food. I did not have one single meal on the ship that was a memorable. The Main Theatre of the ship is very lacking. It reminds me of a high school or college Auditorium. The seats are very narrow and uncomfortable. The armrests are not padded they're very short so you end up with your elbows in the cup holders. The center of the ship where the atrium is . It's basically the entire ship's entertainment area. It's extremely noisy when they have activities going on is located in the same area as customer service, guest relations, Next Cruise booking and the internet cafe. You cannot even sit at the bar near the area and have a conversation with somebody without actually yelling at them. It is so noisy. There is also no separate steam or sauna for men or women. If you want to warm pool or a steam or sauna it will cost you another $300 for the week. There is also no Solarium where a warm indoor covered pool would be located. Our cruises diverted from Mexico because of a hurricane to San Francisco so a warm pool would have been very welcoming . Sadly the only FREE pool is outside and its 50 degrees on a ship that was not an option. Norwegian nickels and dimes you for everything. There's a cost to do anything on the ship over and above your room fee. One of the local pubs had a small bowling alley for children using a ball the size of a bocce ball. That was $6 to play that. it just goes on and on as far as the added costs. The ship is definitely built for kids so if you have kids this is the ship for you. As for me I will never step a board another Norwegian Cruise Line ever again. Read Less

I can understand a change in itinerary due to weather, but when the entire experience is filled with bad customer service it's difficult to make the best of what you've been given. Our tropical vacation become our typical weekend getaways. Too bad I didn't take my San Diego Zoo season pass with me, didn't think I would need it. Customer service was laking through the entire boat, especially in the main dining rooms. Staff did not take the time to interact and almost appeared bothered when you asked questions. One of my favorite experiences, from previous cruises with other companies, is the food. This ship did not offer exotic food or anything new to experience. It was the typical meat or chicken with potatoes type of menus every night. They never even had lobster tail on the menu, something I looked forward to and expected bases on other cruises. There were very few staff that made a positive impact on us. Even the experience afterwards when reaching out to guest relations was bad customer service. Norwegian has left us feeling like they do not care if we ever travel with them again. Read Less

This is a smokers alert- Norwegian Bliss Nov. 3rd Panama Canal cruise. Prior to booking I was advised I could smoke on Deck 17 at the Spice Bar, In the humidor lounge, and somewhere at the pool area. I smoke mini cigars which are slightly larger than a cigarette. Arrival at LAS airport and awaiting transfer (prepaid) of the shuttle. We waited and waited and after an hour finally saw a woman with a blue scarf (no signage just a blue scarf) a gentlemen advised me he too was waiting an that I should speak to the woman with the blue scarf. I was advised that we were waiting for one more couple and the shuttle bus had been called. An hour after that I was told there were more customers arriving on different flights and that the bus had been called. Three and a half hours later – you read that right – a bus finally arrived and we were told it would be about a thirty minute drive to the port. The ride was uneventful but the three and a half hour wait started telling me this isn't right. Chaos upon arrival- no one tells you what is going on. Where are the bags, do they take them, do I, or where to check in. Checking in wasn't bad except there is no information available. Cabin #14796, Balcony; OK room, shower could use an enlargement but was acceptable. Room was fine, midships, except for at night the band playing at the pool area was loud in the room. Cleaning staff was excellent, friendly, and always asking if there was anything he could do. “Z “ Bags don't arrive till late at night the first night- wasn't use to that type of service. This is probably due to it being a large ship with 4000 guests. With no luggage to unpack it was time for lunch and a snack. Learned where the Cafe is, front of ship. Had an acceptable meal and headed off for a smoke at the rear of the ship. It's a long walk when you are unfamiliar with the ship. You get used to it! Upon arrival I was advised that I could only smoke cigars in the Humidor. I promptly went to guest services and asked for a complete refund at the first port. After a discussion I was advised that I could also smoke at the Spice Bar on deck 17 by guest services but there is no smoking at the pool area. I thought I would be ok with that until the arrival at the spice bar located behind Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville. I asked for a Bailys coffee at the bar. No! They don't have coffee at the bar. They advised to go to Buffets and get a coffee and then bring it to the bar. (I should do that?) Yes! Drink in hand I was further told I could only smoke on the Starboard side of the ship in an area no bigger than 12' x 35'. I thought I would be ok with that until other smokers showed up. I went to sit at a small table approx 24” in diameter and there were about 5 tables there each with about 5 chairs at each. Note- when we started the first day there were three umbrellas in this area. Three days into the cruise there were only two umbrellas. There is a covered area in which to smoke approx 12'x20' the rest is open or semi covered by umbrellas. Note- remember there are 4000 people on this ship. Another problem is that the starboard side railing is covered by sheets of glass or plastic with spaces in between them so that wind blows extremely forceful through the slats. ( hmmmm- creating cigarette ash to blow off a lit cigarette....fire hazard....naaaahhhhh! This ship was designed for Alaska waters and I don't think it would be pleasant to smoke in a cold climate with no wind protection. At the table the four ashtrays on the table were full of cigarettes. I complained to guest services that I don't clean ashtrays- this was taken care of and was acceptable for the rest of the cruise with one exception which I'll mention later. It got crowded as people learned where you can smoke- Humidor, Spice and the CASINO!!! Casino- smoking of cigarettes is allowed. Cigars-NO. People complained that if you didn't have money in a machine you couldn't smoke.-I don't know! I do find it odd that you couldn't smoke in the casino if the casino was closed-all ashtrays removed while in ports after all it is a smoking area but I guess you have to pay money to smoke there. The spice area holds approx 40 people maximum and they couldn't open up the entire deck area for some unknown reason. Rumor was it's a rule-Captain doesn't like smokers- Seems to me the non smokers have numerous bars they can attend but smokers are herded to an area the size of a cabin. On top of that the non smokers utilized the smokers rest room- It was comical watching some of them hold their nose as they walked by to open the rest room door- PS there is a bathroom on the non smoking side but they didn't use that one!!! I think you get the idea so far. It is now standing room only. A person of authority assured me the reason for the small smoking area was to prevent fire hazards. A travel agent aboard stated that all cruise lines are doing away with smoking. Appears so! I would say it is a beautiful ship except for all the walking one has to do especially since the elevators are always on the wrong floor and when you do get one it was usually full- to the stariways. What I found odd was that since it is a new ship what was a lot of the paneling on the walls coming buckling- front of the Cave/Cavern by the humidor. In the humidor and numerous other places. I guess someone didn't tag out the ship before taking possession from the factory. Guest speaker for canal trip was good- however on his first day the theater was packed full. Went to the atrium and you have to hear people complaining at guest services a few feet away from the speaker----- this also works in reverse- speaking to guest services you can't hear employees due to they always have music or show going on in the atrium area. Need sound walls installed. At guest services I stated this noise wouldn't be a problem if the speaker was on the TV in the rooms. The next day it was on the TV- problem solved. Back to the cafe- another design flaw- no where near enough seats. You get your food in a line and people are picking a piece of food and tasting it in front of the serving area. I was shown an area that is not crowded. Get your food and take it to the table towards the pool area. Set your food down and go way back to get a beverage, etc. Food is edible but I noticed that the India cafe area is hardly used. Manhattan room- excellent service the first night- then it went downhill from slow to bad. Food quality was fine. No charge. La cucina Italian? I don't think so- no lasagna, no eggplant $$ Cagneys steakhouse excellent. $$ This was a repositioning cruise- the ports were the worst. We always docked in the commercial parts of the ports. They charge for a bus ride to the towns. Seems petty to me- I your taking me somewhere at least have some service available. Due to 4000 people NCL needs a lot of work in this area. If you can't handle it hire more people or get out of the business. Even people that paid for tours advised that it was so disorganized that they got refunds. NCL- this is not good business sense. At Puntenaras we had to pay $15 PP to get to town. The HAL docked about 100' from where our bus dropped us off. Hmmmmm! THE OTHER SHOE DROPS- So I finish dinner and go to smoke on deck 17 in what I was now calling the CAGE! I am told that the area is closing in 15 minutes for a special party. OK- where do I smoke! Told to go to deck 19 top of the ship behind to smokestacks. I go to deck 19- couldn't find an elevator with 19 on it but finally did – there is only one elevator to 19. Talk about an unsafe area to smoke- on deck 19 the wind is howling. There is no wind protection, the bar is closed, no ashtrays, and no cover-overhead. There is however an NCL rep standing there that didn't have a clue about anything. Back to guest services- The complaint is written down a refunds due. I had it with NCL.... I was told that the bar did open- it was too windy- and ash trays were on hand after my complaining. Should never have happened. None of this was in the brochure. I suggest that any smokers avoid this ship. I have numerous cruises with NCL and this one has caused me to seek other cruise lines. As for non smokers who like large crowds, lines at dining areas, unavailable show tickets, disorganization of the highest level from getting to the ship and from the ship, terrible fill in ports with no transportation unless you $$$$. I further suggest that NCL reads this article- It could help but then again, maybe not! Read Less

Choose this cruise because the Norwegian Bliss is a new ship with excellent reviews. My daughter and I being bitten by bed bugs, having to go to the doctor twice, receiving 4 medications, including 2 for itching and 1 for pain, transferred to another cabin, having all our clothes, belongings, luggage taken away, steamed with hot water, shrunk, destroyed, some never returned turned an otherwise positive happy experience into an nightmare. Not only was our cruise miserable but it also effected our after cruise stay in Miami. At first everything was great, embarking was relatively fast and smooth. Our cabin was great, large picture window on Deck 5. The food is excellent, kitchen staff assigned to assist with prevention of germs (washi-washi), cabin steward great. The ship is beautiful. On the third day we asked how the couch let out. ..laid on couch later at dinner started itching daughter had red bite marks on arm me on face. Went to sleep in cabin awaken by biting bugs. When I sat up the bug crawled over your shoulder. I knicked it off, landed on table and we trapped it under a glass. I had red welts and bites on neck arms chest thighs and feet. we called Guest Services they came out and a ship staff inspected the bug and said yes it was a bed bug. What happened next is above. Due to medical needs, we were allowed to have priority boarding. While embarking on the ship, we noticed people literally running by us. Two quite large young woman literally pushed me out of their way (I wear an ankle brace due to recent bone graft surgery). Then we saw another couple sprinting up the gangway. We had wanted to buy passes for Vibe Beach Club and once we got to the area and were 8th in line, we were told that we did not have a number therefore we could not purchase the pass (no one was giving out numbers). The large women that pushed me out of the way were already there right in front of us and had numbers. We were also told that they only sold 15-20 passes and that everything else was sold out. My understanding is that they have somewhere near 70 passes to sell. Its impossible that they sold 50-60 passes when we were one of the first passengers on the ship.. Something was not right. We have always gotten the Vibe passes and have sailed numerous times on Norwegian Cruise Line. We did report this to the higher ups and let them know that this has become a very volatile, dangerous situation. It was like a stampede. We have never seen this on either Epic, Getaway, Escape or any other ship for that matter. We told Wade (the guy selling the passes) that if we could not get passes then we would be getting off the ship. He put us on a waiting list and I told him that I would be back in touch with him in an hour. Fortunately, we were able to get the passes. I must say that the Vibe Beach Club is usually almost empty so I do not understand where all the passes go because the people do not show up. I don't remember exactly how many cabanas there were (5 or 6 I think) and only 3 of them were taken and we were told that the other are reserved for high ranking officers. I don't understand why these officers can't go to Haven. It's always empty over there. This cruise line really needs to get their act together in my opinion. Now to move on to the casino. The ventilation is not very good. As soon as you get off the elevator the smell of smoke almost chokes you. They also have a very large smoking area which makes the non-smoking area much smaller than their other ships. Specialty restaurants - Not so special. They were better on Getaway and Escape. The first dinner at Cagneys was horrible, but in their defense, they gave us another night to make up for it and the food was much better. Cagneys had always been our favorite specialty restaurant. Keisha was great and was able to redeem the restaurant. LaCucina was not good at all and the service was terrible. It took over 2 hours and we missed the show that night. We also missed the show the first night due to the Cagney fiasco. It seemed that many of the guests were also having issues. We were told it was because hundreds of crew members were switched at Miami. So, needless to say, we were not having such a great experience this trip. This was going to be our last cruise for awhile due to upcoming intense medical treatments, so to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. In closing, unless NCL does something different about getting the passes for Vibe Beach Club and their embarkment procedures, we will most likely sail on other cruise lines. I am not going to risk getting hurt by passengers who have no manners and will push, shove and almost trample other passengers to get the passes. I have never seen anything like it in all my years of cruising. It's shameful for a cruise line to allow this to happen. Read Less

We have gone on two previous cruises but both on Royal Caribbean. We did the Allure in the Caribbean and a smaller ship I can't remember the name of in the Mediterranean last year. This time we wanted to try something different and we took our whole family of 10 with us! We were excited to be on the new Bliss with a go kart track and laser tag! The whole family was looking forward to it for months! Plus we were spending a pretty penny! Early on I had a clue that NCL was not so great when I ran into issues with their customer service and booking. I actually wanted to cancel but I was too deep and would lose too much money. I decided to put the issues aside and was sure the ship and experience would be grand just like it is with Royal Caribbean. For starters, The staff on the ship are "indifferent" heck even the people who check you in at the port are passive aggressive. The words that come out of their mouth are polite but the attitude and disinterest far over power the vocabulary. This is such a contrast to Royal where we are hugging out wait staff and room attendants when the trip was ending. On NCL every time we dined it would take at least 10 to 15 minutes to get water and acknowledged. If you didn't like a meal they didn't care. Frankly they got you your order, dropped it off and NEVER asked you how you liked the food. Not one single meal were any of us asked if we needed anything else. They literally do the bare minimum to get by. I suspect NCL must treat their staff terribly because they are virtually all miserable and frankly it ruined our experience. Let me also tell you that the Ultimate beverage package is not for wine drinkers. Their wine selection is terrible on the ship and the wines by the glass that are included in your package are $10 bottles at home. Anything of any decent caliber is of course only sold by the bottle. I caved and bought a bottle because my beverage package had a 20% discount BUT they add a 25% service charge automatically! Normally this is fine but there is no service so what am I paying for? Even mixed drinks at the Mojito bar conveniently starting at $10.95 when your beverage package is only up to $10 per drink. So after you are nickeled and dimed on the drinks keep in mind the go cart track is $10 per ride. Now this is IF you can get a spot because it's reservation only so hurry up! Same with laser tag and the Prohibition musical. Jersey boys was great and free but again make sure you book it early to get your seat! Lastly the layout of the ship was terrible and there was one small pool for 4000 people. Ridiculous! The only good thing is the rooms are very nice and bathrooms are larger but certainly not enough of a plus to override the experience. I could go on and on but I will end here by saying NCL will never get a dime of my money again and there were ALOT of other people on the ship who were feeling the same way. Think long and hard before choosing NCL... heed my advice and go with Royal Carribean! I heard from others Carnival is great service too! Heck I would do anyone BUT NCL! Read Less

We have taken many cruises in the past but this was our first with Norwegian (I should say first and last). It’s a very large ship with not enough staff to provide quality customer service and the staff we encountered were not very friendly nor attentive to anyones needs. We hoped to take advantage of the shows, the specialty dining, the spa, the onboard racetrack. All of which required reservations in advance but you could not reserve in advance online. The only option was to book the onboard activities when you boarded. Well by the second day everything was booked and we could not take advantage of anything we had planned. Our family who joined us had a three year old with them and while they expected not to have much available for a child this age, the”Guppies” program that Norwegian advertises is a joke. A couple of toys and some coloring pages and not a staff in sight. Since there was nothing else to do, we ended up spending numerous hours in the casino where the machines were old and again no staff in sight to ask if we needed a drink. We had to leave the machine we were playing to go to the bar and get our own drinks where the staff made you feel like you were bothering them. The food was mediocre at best. The one specialty restaurant we were able to get into lacked the quality we expected from a “specialty” restaurant. The food was no better than what was served at the buffet. The cabin was smaller than I expected, but that was not the problem. The problem was that it was not as clean as it could’ve been. When the sun shined on the closet doors, you could see the splatter marks of god knows what. We could not even say anything to the cabin person because we never saw her/him. The air conditioning kept shutting down and all night long we had to keep getting up to turn it back on and no instructions on how to use it. You always had to keep your key in a slot by the door in order for the lights to work. If you didn’t, you would have no light in the cabin so you had to be mindful not to lock yourself out when you left the cabin. Absolutely the worst cruise we have ever taken. We met many other passengers on this cruise who felt the same way about it and so we knew it was not just us. Read Less

This was our first cruise and planned for over a year for Christmas week 2018. Boarded in Miami and cruised St.Thomas, Tortola, and Bahamas. After exploring the ship on boarding day and eating at the buffet I thought we were in for a week of our lives. On Sunday morning we woke fairly early to have our first pool day, to my disbelief there was barely a chair to be found. We found a couple chairs eventually in a shaded area far from the one pool. Yes, that is correct they have ONE pool! They advertise two but the second has toddlers in diapers connected to water park area for toddlers. So unless you have little ones or like to swim in diapers its not for you. The first pool I mentioned is about the same size as the pool in my backyard! There's no easy entrance to the pool, no swim up bar, but plenty of salt if you bring your margarita! I literally swam once in the entire week. The two slides are flawed as it takes 45 minutes in line to ride them. The extreme ride was designed so poorly that many riders actually don't make the apex and slide helplessly backward and need to be extracted by personnel. Needless to say I did not attempt this nor my two children as the wait and failure rate just didn't seem worth it. I will finish with this regarding the pool area, on day two I woke early to mark four chairs for my family with towels and clips and bags, as this is how it's done on cruises. Upon arrival later that morning my chairs were now down to two, my bag was missing, and I almost got into a fight. Wow! what a cruise dream! They have go carts and laser tag for kids if you can sign up in time. I'll be honest I still don't know what that means because we never had a chance to sign up because it was full every time someone tried! Yes, we spent 7 days on a cruise ship with two teens and they barely swam, used one slide twice, and never saw go carts or laser tag. In my opinion they should have left the carts and tag off the ship and build some real pools. On the positive side the food and drinks were very good. The three shows we saw were also very well done. The room was decent size and always clean. The employees do an amazing job and are always friendly. Unfortunately for us this was designed around my kids and nephews who left highly disappointed. I would not recommend this ship to anyone with children, actually I would not recommend this ship to anyone as the pool deck experience is horrific! Read Less

Did this cruise with a group of 26 people. While the ship was overall beautiful and the food and drinks were great, the price was way too high for what you got. We got the unlimited drink package and the 4 night specialty dining option. While the food and drinks were amazing, the service in 2 of the main dining halls (The Manhattan Room and Taste) were terrible. Took over 2 hours just to get our food and we were seated right when they opened. If you didn't book a reservation for any of the other specialty restaurants or the 3 main dinning halls when you first got on and had to be right when they start boarding, you had to wait to eat a nice dinner at almost 8-9 pm or go eat in the buffet. The one comedy show I was able to see had some very funny comedians and Jersey Boys was awesome but trying to get into these shows was terrible. They put you in a stand by line if you don't have reservations and if people show up 10-15 mins late, they still let these groups in. Wasn't fair in my opinion to those that were there 10-15 mins prior to showtime to get a seat waiting in stand by. Same with the Go-Karts and Laser Tag. The Go-Karts were fun but not worth the extra $10 in my opinion. The staff at the go-kart track was terrible and they let young kids (8-9 yrs old) race that cant even see over the steering wheel, barely reaching the pedals, are not staying over in the right lane so you end up running into them if they can't make the turn. They also get mad if you accidently bump into someone who crashed or cut right in front of you. They also don't even have a standby line for any solo racers so they would let 8 karts go in one and then send out 5 in the next group. Also, you would book a time for 3pm but wouldn't even race until almost and hour later. Also good luck if it rains because if so, they cancel your race without being able to rebook and just give you back your money. Not really fair in my opinion. Both activities they just show you a video and then let you go. Overall the reservation system is total garbage. Outside of those, the Cabin/stateroom is very nice and the staff take very good care of your room and your belongings. Overall, its nice if you just want a getaway but not worth the extra money they nickel and dime you for. Would much rather be back on Carnival next time. Read Less

I chose this due to timing with my children being off of college & the ports we would see w/ great weather. Everything pre-cruise was a nightmare trying to contact anyone. I had over 9 hours of hold time and no call backs & the supervisor did not help. Could not get dinner or show reservations I had previously booked. My kids got stuck on the “awesome water slide” & has to wait in a hatch until they were let out (they weigh almost 150# & should be able to make the turn), the race track is slow and costs $9 for 4 laps. The kiosks did not work to book shows on a “new” ship and you had to wait in long “guest service “ lines. There are no chairs available at the pool. The staff were not very friendly. We got sick on oysters at the steak restaurant. No one seems to care at all about our experience. I tried to contact nick but it says that page took a permanent vacation after I was again on hold for over 30 minutes to get that site info! Beware of ncl! The “freestyle “ allows you to hold up reservations & not show w/no consequences while leaving empty seats for food enters. Terrible program! Read Less

We picked this cruise as we were celebrating our 20 year anniversary. This particular cruise included our very favorite islands, as it's probably the main reason why we chose this one. We have cruised with many different lines and never tried NCL - we thought it would be a great experience with one of their newest ships. Sadly, we were wrong! Our room was a spa room - typically on ships these are away from noise and near the spa. Not on the Bliss. I kept hearing constant noises above our room. Come to find out the workout room was directly above us. My husband walked the steps and sure enough it was the weights people were lifting and dropping. Over a SPA ROOM. We brought this to the front desk multiple times and were brushed off. The ship is very much designed for Alaska with many beautiful inside areas. Not so much if you're cruising the Caribbean and want to be outside. Pool chairs anywhere are limited. We went to the front desk and inquired and we were told about Vibe - the weekly passes were gone, but a cabana was open for $359. We decided to go for it to have a place to stay and not worry about people reserving chairs at 7a - only to come back and use for 30 minutes later. We made it up to Vibe - wonderful area and staff. Only to find out that the hot tub had been taken over by a loud crude group. Playing music on their personal speakers and ignoring the sign hanging - Quiet Area. The hot tub sits in front of the start of the 6 cabanas, so it was not really relaxing. We brought this up to front desk and they didn't seem to care. The free drinks are a joke. 2-3 bartenders per bar with many people waiting to get a drink. Not many bar staff members in areas such as pool or casino to order drinks from. Food was below average. It was difficult to follow the limited hours of the free places - for example on sea days the sit down dining rooms closed at 9:30a. Most people are on vacation and not setting early alarms to eat. Restaurants were ok - Le Bistro, Japanese, and Steak place were the ones we tried. Japanese was by far the best! Staff was rude and left really bad impressions. The spa and Vibe were the exceptions. Think again before you book on this ship! Read Less

If I could give less stars, I would. Not sure where to even start.... With this being a brand new boat, you would expect them to treat it like one and keep it clean. Our walls in our stateroom had feet all down the side of them. Maybe from the previous kids who left their crayons under the bed as well as their snot rags in the "under the tv" cubby. Out of all the staff, there were maybe 5 crew members who were remember able. Not counting our room steward who never once introduced themselves but expected that 14.50 service charge tip daily per person, per day, over the age of 3. One day, we sat two cups down the hallway near a cart and they were returned to our room. Yeah, you read that right. They brought the cups back to us that we were done with as well as the trash that was in them. On two separate occasions, I was looking at jewelry, not one person at either place could speak to me. They did spray glass cleaner in my direction right where I was looking though. It's a shame honestly. I really wanted that ring! -The only adult bar on the cruise ship turned into a teen night at 10pm each night. IF YOU ARE A SMOKER, DONT BOTHER. They put you in a 20 by 10 space on the back on the boat with 50 (drunk) people. No smoking cigarettes in the cigar bar but cigar smokers can smoke out in our hole. There is smoking allowed in the casino but you are patrolled to ensure you are putting money in the machine. Deck chairs are pulled up and strapped down by 4pm. No where to sit...(sun doesnt go down until almost 7) Make sure you eat by 330, otherwise you will be waiting until 530pm or ordering room service. Everything is just very forced. It's not on your time. If you do not prebook shows or restaurants, you wont be seeing any or eating anywhere other than the buffet. If you like to hang out in the pool while on a ship, forget the name Bliss. There is 2 small pools in the middle of the ship. That's it. I'll stop now. Back to Royal Caribbean we go. Read Less

Disclaimer: "I am an avid NCL cruise fan and stock holder. I only cruise on NCL as they are the best brand for me with the free-style attitude. I prefer not to have a dining time, and prefer to just do what I want to do when I want to do it. NCL provides that for me, so I stick with that is not broken. This cruise was my 15th cruise on Norwegian and 14th different boat. Yes, I know kind of crazy, but it just worked out that way. I am also going on the Epic in June, and that boat is the only one I've not been on." The Norwegian Bliss was by far my worst experience on an NCL Ship. To put it lightly I hated it. The main reason is that it is way too crowded. The ship is big, and yet too crowded (that tell you something). This is especially true with the buffett area. There really isn't a great outdoors on this ship, which really sucks because that tends to spread people out. You cannot find a table in the buffet area for at least 15 mins. At some points, you see people standing up and eating. A terrible design, just horrible. If you get on this ship, you will be frustrated just as I was. Now I did figure out that the 15th deck (the one with the glass around it FWD) has a small buffet. That tended to be a bit less crowded. I can imagine on the Alaska cruises it won't be as I am sure more people will flock there. The whole go-cart thing is the real reason the boat is so crowded. They decided to build that to look cool, but in the end it took a lot of space they could of used for other things. I think eventually it will burn them. As I mentioned the buffet could be much bigger, and should be much bigger. Not to mention, the same problem goes with beach chairs. You won't get one unless you get there at 6-7:30am. After that forget it, you won't get a chair. This will also frustrate you. I have to say the staff were awesome just as they are on all of the ships I go on. The exception is the guest services people as they sometimes are incompetent. Everybody else is fantastic especially the bartenders. The meals on this ship were not as good as some others. The only good meal I had the entire time was in Cagney's. Everything else was just average or just plain not good. The only thing good in the buffet was the Indian food. Everything else was just average. This is surprising because this is the first time that has happened. Out of 15 cruises on NCL, this was the only time I was real disappointing with the food. I still haven't figured out why they don't open Spice H2O every night as that is the best place on the ship at night. Fresh air dancing, and drinking. Yet they only have it open for one night and half. Makes no sense to me. Other ships had it open most nights. Embarkation and Debarkation were smooth. I am a Platinum Plus member, so my opinion on that isn't really relevant. But I do think NCL is getting better and better with embarkation and debarkation. As I mentioned, I am a NCL fan. I love the brand, but there is no way I will be back on the Bliss. Not a shot in the world. The other boats are much better in just about every way. I would highly recommend doing your research before booking a cruise on the bliss. Read Less

This is a long review but so are the troubles that NCL has caused us. Please take time to read this for your own sake. My husband and I just returned from a cruise on the Bliss that we booked through one of NCL’s sales agents. We booked the entire trip through this NCL employee including air fare and cruise insurance. We were nervous about the flights, and requested to fly out the night before the cruise (with overnight lodging at our own expense) or on the first flight out of Tulsa Saturday morning (as we had a layover in Dallas). We were told that we did not really get a say in booking the flights but that they would put a note on our account for our requests. When we got our flight assignment we were booked on the second flight out of Tulsa on Saturday morning which gave us a 50 minute layover in Dallas and was not scheduled to even land in Miami until 12:51 PM, after which we would have to gather our luggage and shuttle 30-35 minutes to the Port of Miami. Keep in mind, our boarding time was 12:00 and the eDocs state that if we aren't on board by 2:00 we wont be allowed onboard. We were concerned about this tight timeline as this would leave no margin for error for traffic or travel delays and our paperwork suggested that we not board the ship later than 2:00 PM. When we called NCL representatives 4-5 times about this and other questions leading up to the cruise we were given the same answer by each, “since you booked your flights with NCL, as long as you are to the port before 4:00 PM and this ship is still in port, you will be allowed to get on.” On the day of departure, our 6:40 AM flight from Tulsa to Dallas was delayed for 3 hours, causing us to miss our layover in Dallas. We were re-booked through the airline on a flight to Ft. Lauderdale which was to land a 2:45 PM as this was the only option available to get us to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale before 4:00. Throughout this morning, we attempted to contact our agent, the emergency travel line listed on NCL edocs, as well as all available NCL numbers to gather information about options, as we knew the flight delay would cause the time to be very close to ship departure. We were unable to get in contact with any NCL representatives, despite 30-45 minute holds, until we got to Dallas. The representative told us that we would be cutting the time very close but was unable to offer any information except telling us to call the shuttle company (that we had paid for to transport from Miami Airport to the Port of Miami). We did as he told us to but because it was Saturday the shuttle company was not open and had no way to be contacted. We arrived in Ft. Lauderdale, retrieved our luggage and hired an Uber driver (as we could not contact the pre-arranged shuttle) and got to the Port by 3:40 PM. We knew that we were very close to departure, but based on what we had repeatedly been told by NCL, fully expected to be allowed to board since NCL had booked our flights and made all other travel/transport arrangements. As we got out of the Uber, we were met by a NCL representative that said we would not be allowed on the ship and handed us a paper with contact information for NCL to see what our options were with the insurance. We told her what NCL had told us about getting on the ship and she said that no one was allowed on after 3:30 PM. We understand if this is the policy, but that is not what we were told by multiple people within NCL, including the rep we talked to in Dallas. In fact, we were never given a cut off time, only a statement that if the ship was in port we would be allowed to board. Had this been disclosed to us originally, we likely wouldn't have left Tulsa as it was extremely unlikely we would ever make that cut off. The NCL representative at the port offered no further help and told us to find a hotel. We spent the next 4 hours trying to contact NCL from the paper we were given at the port and spent 30 minutes at a time on hold. We then received different answers from different NCL representatives blaming the airline and us for not getting there on time and telling us conflicting information about how the insurance works. No one was able to lay out our options for us or break down the situation and help us, making it difficult to make an informed decision as to whether to meet the ship at the first port or fly back to Tulsa without cruising. We were extremely disappointed with the customer service of a cruise line that is touted as a premium cruise line. We had no problems getting answers or in touch with NCL when we were booking, but when we ran into a problem, no one was available to help. We stayed in a hotel in Miami Saturday night and ended up flying to Tortola to meet the ship on Tuesday. All of which was paid out of pocket (flights, hotel, taxis, food, etc.), amounting to $2000 on top of the almost $5000 we had already spent on the cruise itself. We were not able to join the cruise until day 4 of 7. This was our first cruise experience, we were traveling for my birthday, and we were very excited and pleased with NCL until we ran into a problem. The ship and cabins were new and clean and overall very nice, and large for what we expected. The food was good and available most of the day and we enjoyed the specialty dining package. The Jersey Boys show was excellent and there was plenty of activities onboard to keep us entertained. We were disappointed in Tortola, but enjoyed the other ports with St. Thomas being our favorite. We did not participate in many excursions but the sky ride in St. Thomas was well worth the time. We enjoyed the ship and attentiveness of the staff once aboard, but despite all of these positives, we were very disappointed in the NCL cruise experience overall. The issues with the flights booked through NCL, the incorrect information given to us, and the poor customer service would make us never sail with this cruise line again. Post-Cruise: We submitted all our expenses to the insurance company, but only half of our expenses were recovered. We then submitted the rest of our expenses to NCL as part of our complaint process to work toward some sort of resolution for all our trouble and missing HALF of the cruise. We went through the email process and were told it would take 10-15 business days for a response. We submitted the complaint on March 12, but didnt get a response until April 11th. It took 22 business days to get a response from the Bliss coordinator, Patricia Tamarit. In this response, she took no responsibility for any of the concerns expresses by us. She offered no refund, credit, or resolution of any kind. Here is the letter in full: "Dear Mrs. xxxx: We recognize the time and effort in planning a cruise vacation and regret to learn of the circumstances that resulted in the delayed arrival to your voyage aboard the Norwegian Bliss. We have reviewed your information and regret to know you experienced a setback with your flights into Miami. Although it is never our desire for our guests to be to be disappointed or inconvenienced in any way, please know that although the flights were booked through our Air/Sea Department, we do not have direct control over airline reasons for a delay, procedures, policies or their employees' actions. Please understand that it is not our intent to cause any further distress; however, we are unable to offer a refund or credit for the unused day of your voyage or out of pocket expenses. Because of the very nature of unexpected situations such as the one you experienced, we strongly recommend our guests always obtain Travel Protection to cover unforeseen circumstances. A review of your reservation indicates you purchased travel protection through AON Affinity. You may wish to contact them and file a claim in this regard. They can be reached at 1-800-722-5672 or via their website at www.travelclaim.com Thank you for this opportunity to respond. We trust our explanation will help you to understand our position in this matter and over the course of time you will consider Norwegian Cruise Line in your future travel plans Sincerely, Coordinator Guest Relations" As mentioned before, we had already purchased the travel insurance. She failed to address the fact that the airline got us to the ship, and based on what we had been told numerous times, they got us there on time. Instead, it was NCL that refused to allow us onboard. That is not an issue with the airline. That is an issue with NCL. We did not accept this response and called back to the guest relations number. We were passed around to multiple representatives who continued to blame everyone else but NCL. We were finally told that (Bliss coordinator) would call us back within 48 hours. This did not happen. So, we called again. This time, we were told that our case hasd been re-opened and sent to another supervisor. This would only take 7-10 days to resolve. That was on April 22nd. It is now May 16th and we have yet to get any response. NCL seems content to throw away customers and take no responsibility for their failures. Dealing with this company has been one headache after another, and I would recommend that anyone considering traveling with NCL to strongly reconsider. If everything goes smoothly, you wouldnt have a problem. But as soon as any problem occurs, you are very clearly on your own. AS FOR THE CRUISE ITSELF: We booked a mini-suite with a balcony. The bathrooms were much more spacious than I had anticipated as was the room itself. The room attendant was very attentive and kept everything clean. We had the specialty dining package which allowed us 3 specialty meals. We used them at Ocean Blue (seafood: $12 surcharge), Teppanyaki (hibachi style), and Cagney's steakhouse. The food at all these restaurants was excellent. We also dined at the Garden Cafe. It was less than impressive, but fine for lunches. We dined in all three main dining rooms as well. The Manhattan Room was the biggest. Then Savor and Taste were smaller, themed sites. They all served the same food, though. There were multiple bars to visit and we made it to most of them, but the best was the brewery. I believe there were over 20 beers on tap plus more bottled. Overall, if you were in need of a drink, you could find one easily. Drinks were reasonable priced if you were buying them at the time (we had the drink package so anything under $15 was "free"). If you needed coffee, there was a starbucks onboard. We utilized the pool areas and the shops most. There was an adult only pool area which was great. It had two hot tubs, showers, and a bar. We didnt buy much at the shops, but enjoyed looking around. Other than that, we enjoyed go karts, laser tag, and mini golf. Mini golf was free, but the others required reservations and about a $10/person fee. All were enjoyable. We saw the Jersey Boys show which was very well done. The participants were truly talented. Seating was first come, first serve. Overall the service on the ship was very good, and most staff were helpful. At the ports we did more self-directed touring than excursions. The only one we did was on St Thomas. We rode the skyride to the top of the island which was very cheap and offered panoramic views of the island. Great for picture taking. Also shopping and dining available at the peak. On Nassau, we walked to Junkaroo Beach. It was busy, but overall a good place to hang out. Had we not had all the trouble with NCL as I listed at the beginning of this, we would totally use this cruise again. The cruise and ship itself were wonderful. However, for the reasons I stated above, we will definitely not be using this cruise line again. Read Less

So I have been on RC, Disney and carnival. I can honestly say, sailing on the Norwegian was the worst experience. We booked a balcony room, which wa tiny! I mean very very very small. The bathroom layout was good. There is not much storage space. So when entered the cruise to a small casino, most ships you enter into a grand atrium. We were not greeted by any staff. Their was no instruction on where the food was or where to go. We finally checked into our room which was 1/2 cleaned. The staff had to reclean as trash was left in our closet. Staff members (pretty much all of them) were rude. You will not find good help! They charge for everything on this ship. Their is no set dinning time, so if you do not book your dinning everyday, you won’t get in. The food is mediocre even at the speciality restaurants. Their is no sports court to play basketball etc. They charge for laser tag, go carts etc. theaters and shows are not impressive. The Havana show was a glorified strip tease. Needless to say, I will not be sailing with this cruise line again. Everything closes down at midnight. One cafe open 24-7 with crap food. Read Less

We are platinum members and sail on many NCL ships. We normally like smaller ships however we wanted to experience the new locks on the Panama canal with this ship. We have priority boarding and it was easy to get on board, however had difficulty finding our cabin, inside Deck 12 midship. Well as it turned out it wasn't midship it was due aft net to an elevator. Cabin was extremely small, I had to turn sideways to get into bed, never before on NCL that we had an inside that it was this small. Now the specialty restaurants: used to be one price now it priced per item. We had two coupons for free restaurants Steak house and Italian, Steak, ribeye was great, now you only get one salad or soup, one on try and one desert for you free meal...if you want something else you pay for it, like if I wanted the Kansas City steak it was 5 dollars more, for appetizer another 5 bucks.....in the Italian restaurant, well there is no spaghetti and meat ball or meat sauce, no egg plant etc., you can get ravioli's with lobster??? well I had a pizza which was just about the same as the one you get in the buffet. The buffet area closes down, I mean door locked you can't even get a cup of coffee after midnight unless you go to the Local which is a 24 hour limited menu dining area midship and then you only get small paper cups. Now we're smokers and in the morning would like to have a cup of coffee and smoke, the only place to smoke is on deck 17 starboard side of the H20 spice bar, which has no coffee, if you're luck to get to the Margarita place right next door they have coffee only for 2 hours for a limited breakfast buffet and the hours were never the same, after they close it down they drain the coffee, I asked them why, and they couldn't give me a reason. Walking was terrible , with most food stuff in the front of the ship and we're in the back so you see our problem. Now the ship is pretty, but huge, too big , too many people, reservations are needed for almost everything and if you don't get reservations when you first get on you are out of luck. Jersey Boys was great free show, but had to pay to see Havana shop which was terrible, pay to see a show NOT....The itinerary changed three times just before we got on board, we even went to Acapulco, only got off the ship to walk to a pharmacy and back on. Never again on this ship and if all NCL ships are paying extra for meals , sorry but no more NCL. Read Less

Norwegian Cruise On The Bliss. If you are thinking of booking a cruise with Norwegian on the Bliss here are some important things that will enlighten you and maybe help narrow your decision between cruise lines. I really wish some of this info was available before we booked for 6 people. 2 ocean side rooms, 2 kids 4 adults with my Father in-law being disabled and needing a wheelchair. Our trip started off on a very bumpy start with a 3 hour boarding process at long beach. Ugh.. We notified NCL that we needed assistance to 1 in our group but they informed us no wheelchairs available at that time so they had about 7 disabled people stuck sitting on a bench outside the terminal in the sun for over an hour. No water offered to them or another area to sit in the shade. Was so bad! My father in-law was a total trooper and said I’ll stand in line cause he didn’t want to take a chair away from anyone else. We made him stay put. Finally NCL sent over an assitant and brought everyone inside but told all the family’s they would have to separate everyone except one family member, (just dumb).. Had no idea if we would be able to see them again with the 1,000 plus people in line till we boarded. As we got into the main check-in after waiting in line for a hour plus they then made you take a number to wait in another line.. What rocket science figured this one out??? So now another hour plus line after your number was called. Complete disconnect!! We were hoping that Dad wasn’t having to deal with this madness but well he was as I looked across and saw him in a line of 5 trying to get though the special assist line. He literally was in a line of 5 for more then an hour.. Just crazy.. It took 1 hour to process 5. Recap, NCL separated our complete family and made him wait in another line for well over a hour after sitting in the hot sun for over a hour.. NCL really knows how to treat disabled people! I’ve never seen anything like it.. This is America not a third world country.. We are blown away with this. Wait it gets better. Once finally getting to our state rooms we asked about getting a wheel chair. Figured we would have no problem.. Ha.. Nope. “Sorry sir, we are out of wheelchairs but maybe you could head down to Guest Services and ask them.” So I went down and low and behold another line 30 deep. Just keeps getting better. I picked up the lobby phone and called to see what options we had. Amazing that we were able to get ahold of a NCL member. They confirmed that no wheelchairs were available but if we wanted to go anywhere just call and a NCL member will pickup and drop off. Well we tried that a few times and it was a bust. 20 to 30 min pickup time and once you are at your destination that they take the wheelchair so now you have to call and request a pickup. This clearly wasn’t going to work. We attempted another try to find a wheelchair and they found one. That was a relief until we were given the bill for 195 bucks and the challenge of trying to maneuver through the hallways with all the service carts in the way. Clearly NCL is not taking Handicap or Disabled guests as a priority. The Bliss is not setup to truly make it easy to get around with small hallways, no center elevator and crew not trained. We just found out about disembarking is going to be the same issue. No priority. Another fun fact in the wisdom who’s ever in charge of getting luggage off you need to have your luggage outside your cabinet by 11:00 PM the night before so if you need to get ready the next morning you’ve better have what you need. Great so with all the extra stuff your Dad needs like meds and other crucial things we need to find a place other then his bags that need to be taken beforehand.. We already have a bunch of luggage to content with so it just make more things to desk with. NCL is very safety conscience so little surprised they are having all the guest clog in the hallways with bags. If there is an emergency no way we would be able to pass all the bags with a wheel chair. Makes no sense! The ship is beautiful and their newest in NCL fleet but be prepared to be nickel and dimed to death.. We paid for everything in advance including 6 nights of fine dining so wanted everything included but we were so wrong! They kill you with the WiFi for 300 for a week per guest. And if you want to keep in touch with your family and kids they have a basic NCL connection that will run you about 10 per person so you can text from phone to phone while on the ship after downloading the NCL app. Should be free! You also get charged 15 dollars per day per guest and if you want soda for the kids or adults that package is another 50. Oh and no free bottled water! Race track and Laser tag cost and if you don’t signup the minute you get on the boat forget it. Books up in super quick. Another bummer. Be careful about room selection. We booked directly with NCL thinking that they would know the ship better then anyone else. Wrong! I got talked into center upper deck for the following reasons; - less movement for bad weather - restaurant access Well not having a center elevator is a big issue with wheel chair and almost every night on the main pool deck there was a party with the music playing full blast. Both rooms vibrated until 12 almost every night. We didn’t sleep for 4 of the 6 nights on the ship. I’m for everyone partying but I want to be able to retreat to a quiet place to sleep. So basically center ship DO NOT STAY on deck 12,13,14 or 15 unless you don’t want to be sleep. I did complain a few times and finally got some help with the DJ bringing down the level days later. It was crazy that they would turn the sound all the way up with only 75 guest on the deck that can hold 1,500 plus. Doesn’t make sense. In all fairness they would have moved us but the ship was completely booked. Also tough when you have assigned cabinets next to each other. Dinning experience was mixed feelings. Our favorite was; - Ocean blue - Cagney’s - The Local - Le Bistro - Savor - Taste - La Cucina Ocean blue and Le Bistro were epic! Worse food and service - Los Lobos 2 hours to eat with reservation and food order came back wrong 3 times on two different items. My kids finally gave up and just didn’t eat dinner. Then the manager tried to compensate for our bad experience by not charging for the side of beans and flour tortillas. I pretty much said please charge me and walked out. Bad with a side of more bad. Food was also terrible. Kids left and went to the Garden Cafe buffet to try to eat some dinner. Entertainment: Good luck getting into any of the shows if not booked the minute you get on board. We paid for the only show we could get into which was Havana (and was a 10:00 evening showing) but with our dinner running late at Cagneys we missed it. And yes we got charged anyway.. Another challenge is getting a hold of someone of Guest Services without going to the counter. I’ve must of called at least 20 times within the 4 days and only was able to touch base over the phone 5 of the 20. Best time to go physically is before 7 or after 9:00 if you don’t want to wait in line. The only person who has been helpful really is the General Manager Belkys Sanchez. She has helped with the noise the best she can. All and all is has been an experience with more lows than highs for our first experience with NCL. Sincerely the Barbera’s Read Less
