This is the second NCL we have done. Last year we did the Epic and it was really fabulous! We did Haven both times and the difference was huge. The Bliss has an indoor pool in haven but it was still very cold and kids could stay in it for 5 minutes before jumping into the hot tub that had 15 other kids in it. Only one hot tub kids could use. In rainy windy times we would sneak up to the deck 16 years or older and let them use the hot tub as their own private pool. However last day at sea the closed all the hot tubs for maintenance? We complained and said why close them on a day at sea? Day 1 all restaurants, race track and laser tag booked. We complained and overheard them say an extra 1,000 people on board and they sold too many dining packages for incentives. Kids in boat were crying because some did not get a chance to race or laser tag. It was often closed because of weather anyways. We were able through haven to secure 1 race track per person and 1 laser tag. Haven amenities same dessert in observation lounge never changed once, who wants dessert at 3:00 with cocktails? Went to 15th floor to get food. Haven staff was ok, we tip at end of cruise, cocktail servers seemed only driven by tips to help you. Upcharged for a drinks in haven, same drinks we could get at maltings whiskey bar on beverage package. Haven restaurant was a joke- better food anywhere else in ship. Epic was much better- same menu too! The port times are rediciouus never enough time off the boat I have seen other cruise port times and much better. Bliss seems to have gotten the worst port spots as well. No expedited on board off board for haven guests. I think they did once in Victoria. Juneau it took 30mins in line to get back on ship. Security man closed the line and started to take pictures of the line saying it was a joke. Manhattan had the best staff! Faster service and best food. You should have those people in the Haven. The buffet was the same food over and over. Splash academy was ok- we used it once. My kids got to ride the slide on last day before Victoria when the weather was ok. This ship is not designed for Alaska weather and outdoor activity. The walk out boardwalk was rarely used as it was too cold. Epic in Europe was half the price and twice the fun. Bliss has some kinks to work out. All in all I would not recommend this cruise. Read Less

I chose this ship because I sailed on the Pearl and Jewel. They were pretty nice ships and had a lot of great activities to do. Unfortunately, the Bliss is too big. 4,000+ people with about 1500 staff. All the shows were booked before I got on the ship, nearly all the specialty dining was booked before we got on the ship, the elevators were constantly packed, the buffet constantly packed, the staff were overworked, over exhausted and probably underpaid.... They charge for EVERYTHING!! It didn't matter if you had the dining package....Ocean Blue added an additional $18 per person to eat there and the food was raw!! Disgusting. I truly had the worst experience every on this ship. Shore excursions were amazing of course because Alaska is amazing, but choose another ship to enjoy this Alaskan adventure unless you like crowds and lots of pushy people making their way to all parts of the ship. Oh, and if you decide to try out the fitness room just to kind of get a little exercise, be prepared to be belittled while you are there by the fitness guru who knows it all. Read Less

We took our family of 6 on this cruise, 4 kids ages 11- 16, my husband and I have been on 9 other cruises and have loved all of them. However, this cruise was not so great! Alaska is wonderful, we loved every minute of the views and the ports of call, but just skip going on this ship, we were never able to do the laser tag, go carts, shows, or sit in the observation deck due to to many people and not enough seats. We were not even able to upgrade any of our meals on board because all of the restaurants were full for the week.We paid for 2 balcony rooms, they were honestly the smallest balcony rooms we have ever had, even Carnival's were bigger. The food is all the same, nothing special at all and we were so sick of it by the end of the cruise, and the wait staff was very unprepared and just plan old didn't care! Oh , and that great water slide that they show, only one of my kids got to use it, it was hardly Ever open, we have no idea why, it just wasn't! I will never cruise NCL again! Read Less

Chose the Bliss to Alaska as our first cruise to celebrate 2 birthdays in the family. Their much touted go-kart was a huge attraction. My wife had called Norwegian ahead of time (before boarding) informing them of this special occasion and they had mentioned they would have a surprise in the room when we enter. Of course--nothing when we boarded. Go-Karting and Laser Tag--there's an additional fee for those. On top of the $6.5K we already paid. Also, when we went to Go-Kart, we were told that although we had paid and made a reservation, there weren't any 2 seaters that they could give my daughter and I and we would need to pay for 2 hours. Did I mention it was very windy and 40 degrees outside while we waited in line for 30 minutes to be told this? This was on Day 1. Oh, did I mention, they don't have indoor pools? So my 7 year old couldn't swim as it's 40 degrees outside on their outdoor pools. When my wife went to guest services to remind them about her call on trying to make the trip special for us, guest services was rude and then gave a certificate for a cake at one of the restaurants. Finally--as soon as we had boarded, we requested to change one of our included packages (from the on shore excursion credit to special dining). The response? Sorry--can't change after you board. That's our policy. Not accommodating at all. If this was my experience on day 1 then I'm never going to cruise NCL again. EVER. You would expect they would at least try but it seems as if corporate policy trumps everything else. You would expect they could change the on shore excursion to the dining credit. Their response was, "if we do it for you, we would need to do it for the others." Really? Great way to make me feel special. Read Less

We chose this cruise as it was going to Columbia, Costa Rica and Guatemala and Mexico. We spent the longest time to pick a cabin with a bath tub in a quiet area. From the moment we boarded the ship in Miami we knew we had made a big mistake. The cabin (so called mini suite) we had chosen and paid extra for a bath tub in fact had no tub. Also the cabin was so small compared to other mini suites we have traveled in. When we pointed this out we were told 'we got what we paid for'. We were so angry they finally changed our cabin for one with a bath. We were told it could be a little noisy so we should check it first. We went with a member of the crew. The cabin had a little noise but not bad and we asked is that as bad as it gets. 'Yes' was the reply. All went well to about 9.30pm when the whole cabin began to throb and we could not hear the TV. So again we complained. The next day we were moved to another cabin with noise but not as bad. The Bliss is a new vessel and one would think in this day and age sound proof cabins would be the norm. If we were going to another US port we would have got off. The food was disappointing even in the specialty restaurants. We had hoped the high light of the trip would have been to Tikal in Guatemala and we had booked the tour before leaving home as it was on a charter flight and when the flight was full that was it. This was the most expensive tour they had but reading the itinerary we thought it would be worth it. When we reached the site the itinerary stated a 3 mile walk in the rain forest to get to the main square of the Maya Ruins. During this walk we expected to get a feel of the Maya city. The walk did not happen and we only had an hour at the site before we were told to get back in the van. We paid well over $1000 each just to spend an hour at the most touristy part of the site and were robbed of the ambiance and surrounds of the main area. We were told there was no time for anything else but yet they still advertise this tour with the walk, knowing full well that it will not happen. The ship is too big, carrying over 4000 passengers. The queues that formed at peak times were difficult to bear. Those that needed the lifts had to wait for ages as when they stopped they were usually full. Some of the activities were very crude to say the least, especially in this time of the 'Me too' movement. We have a video that could cause a lot of trouble for the ship if we attached it to this review. Most of the crew were great. In summary, unless you are a die hard cruiser that likes to eat, drink and laze around we do not recommend it. Read Less

Nice ship, very different layout, not sure if I really like it. What I really do not like is the size of the suites they are super small. Bathroom have as well been reduced in size completely. I should mentioned we paid for a mini suite and boy this could not be minier. Closet space in the suite is increadably small it is so small that I cannot fit my cloth in it an I’m a man who travels very light, my wife is going crazy. We are forced to leave much of our clothes i the luggage. This in our 20 years of crusing has never happened. Very little counter space, almost none. Storage is very limited in the suites. Also they cut big time the morning room service, only coffee and very few items are included real breakfast has an additional fee now. Crew does not seem very happy, they all say good morning and so on just because they are told to do so, however, I see very long unhappy faces. Dinning expect to be in dinning room, the Manhattan, at least 2 hours, service very slow. All dinning areas are very crowded, it seems to me that there is not enough area to accommodate all the guess they put on this ship. I will never go on this ship again. Very very disappointed. I do not recommend this ship at all. Read Less
