First cruise. Enjoyable. Food was good. Would rate Le Bistro as best, Teppanyaki was the most fun. Ocean Blue was good, but Le Bistro and Cagney's were better for us. First night ate at Manhattan room - did not go back. Used Garden Café more than we planned - it was very good. Taste and Savor were also good. All restaurants were good. Vibe club was probably not worth it for an Alaska cruise. The hot tubs were warm and could have been 3-4 degrees hotter. Would have been nice for the cool misty days. Service at the Vibe was outstanding. The thermal spa was wonderful! Probably our favorite place on the ship. Wish it opened earlier. Spin class was disappointing. A lot of potential wasted. Gym was packed most mornings. Jersey Boys was great, Havana was not. Beatles were good, but crowded every night. One had to arrive very early to get a seat. Comedy was very good. Went to two, but fell asleep at the late one - not because of the act, but because we were tired. Alaska was a good choice and Glacier Bay was the highlight. Read Less

Everything was ok until we started using our cabin. First the bedsheets had stains on them!!!! Then the cabin ceiling and walls started cracking at nigh... plus we could hear weird sounds coming from the deck above us very late at night (we were on deck 15 and heaven staterooms were above us). I’m talking about 1 am to 3 am. Who can sleep like that???? Our steward and a carpenter came a couple of times and couldn’t find where the noise was coming from. They gave us a cheap wine bottle and a $200 onboard credit for the “inconvenience” but I feel they were short, in reality I should’ve gotten a refund for the whole onboard expense account and for being so uncomfortable on our cabin, plus if things were not getting fixed, they should’ve moved us or upgraded our stateroom to a better one, as I explained to management we were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and it wasn’t a cheap cruise to begin with so to have this kind of situation was very bad for our cruise experience. On the other hand we had booked our excursion with NCL way before our cruise started thinking our experience was going to be the best (even tho we could have gotten it cheaper with independent companies) and the truth is that at the end it was as bad as anywhere online because it just got cancelled just a few days before the cruise; when we called to cancel the cruise at that point they said there wasn’t any refund or exchanges available and they didn’t even give us a credit or anything towards a new excursion; so we had to pay even more money for the new one. Similar issue happened with one of the ports which by the way I must say they do stay very little time at (Ketchikan), you’ll be practically running the whole time when ashore (some even get you there at almost night time) and even when we missed that port (due to bad winds or weather) we didn’t stay longer at the next port. I’m don’t know about the rest of the world but I like things to go according to schedule or to be compensated for it; mind you this is the third “inconvenience” on this cruise so yeah so far not recommended to people like me who actually care about details on a cruise. Other than that food was great, service was ok (they don’t go out of their way to serve your needs), the ship is very stylish and updated for our times, doesn’t feel cramped (except when getting off to explore a new port, people are coming to the hallways from all sides, it’s crazy); they do have good shows (Broadway style I’d say), you can’t miss the Beatles and Jersey Boys, I’m not an art critic but I thought they were all very profesional and talented (didn’t feel cheap). The disembarkation process was very smooth (they use a camera system with face recognition, very sophisticated and fast, I liked that). Read Less

Short vacation, out of Seattle for me and my wife. Impressive big ship comes with a price when you share it with over 4000 passengers. Crowded check in, main areas, theater shows, restaurants and elevators. You need reservation for almost everything if not you'll wait for long time on standby lanes. Lots of amenities and fun options if you don't mind being charged again for them. Surprised by pastry and ice cream charge. Even clean our balcony stateroom was smallest so far and mini suites are not much better, just a 3 feet larger bathroom. Looks like the real staterooms start at Heaven level-high price. Complementary restaurants have pretty much same menu every day, Some of the staff are trying hard to make your experience better while most look tired or bored. Best Spa and treatment if you don't mind the over charge. Our impression was that of a bar/ casino where if you are not ready to spend extra better don't come or be there. Read Less

We were impressed with Norwegian's dedication to the environment. Towels were not washed and replaced unless we requested it. Only cloth napkins and real plates, cups, etc were used for the meals. We were equally impressed with their concern for cleanliness. Hand sanitizer was available as we entered all restaurants and squirted on our hands by lovely, cheerful employees whenever we entered a buffet area. All of the entertainment on board was very enjoyable, but Jersey Boys was a cut above! The acting, singing and dancing were professional and as good or better than other plays we have seen in top venues. Frankie Valli's voice was amazing, as well as all of the other "Jersey Boys". WOW is how we felt when it ended!! The Observation Lounge was also a plus on this ship. There was a light lunch available everyday and we enjoyed being away from the crowds in the Garden Cafe Buffet. We are so glad we chose Norwegian Bliss. Read Less

Flew in early to Seattle and had decided earlier when planning, to get on the ship and get restaurants and shows scheduled and to do our exploring Seattle on the back end. We were happy with decision. Note that there is a 10% tax on alcohol while docked in Seattle, even with the unlimited alcohol plan! This was our first cruise so everything was new to us. Getting on and off the ship in Seattle and at every port was simple and moved quickly. There are kiosks on different walls with touch-screen to make/edit reservations for dining, spa, entertainment, etc.. The ship wi-fi never seemed to work for us. We had 250 minutes to use and ended up wasting them trying to log on and off and trying to access internet. You really have to let the social/internet world go while on the ship. It was actually quite nice once you got used to it. The NCL app on the other hand, we used constantly. You can pay $10/person to have unlimited texting and calling with others on the ship. That was great to be able to meet up. It was only my husband and I on the trip but we used it a lot, surprisingly. The ship is 20 levels and you are not together every minute. He would get up a couple hours before me and go for breakfast. I would turn my app on once I woke up and see where it was to meet up. Or he might be running back to the room for something and I could call and ask him to bring me a jacket or tell him I'm moving to another deck or bar, etc - totally worth the $. Best things about ship to me were the amazing staff and the cleanliness! I can't say enough about the service provided. Everyone was so friendly, happy and helpful. They truly do everything possible to make sure you enjoy your trip up until the very last hour. I loved that there was never trash or empty dishes laying around. The bathrooms were always spotless and well stocked and always had warm water at the faucets! Same with shower - always instant hot water. The bars were all so fun. We spent a lot of time at the bar in the Atrium just because there was always a fun show or activity or music going on in that area. The Local restaurant above was another great hangout because it has a bar top that ran all the way around the opening down to the Atrium stage. So you could eat (food there is included) or have drinks and enjoy the entertainment. Loved going to karaoke in the evenings. Loved the comedy shows, Havana and especially Jersey Boys! Siglo was the main live music we watched. They are amazing! And they play several different types of shows around the boat throughout the whole week. The dinners at Tepanyaki and Ocean Blue were my favorites for all the seafood. My husband's favorite was Cagney's for the steak. Ports - We rented a car in Juneau at Avis, which is on the walk towards town, and drove up to Mendenhall Glacier and then up to the road to the "end of the road". I didn't care for the shopping in town though - too many jewelry guys and cheap souvenirs from China. They do have a Costco and grocery stores if you need to buy other basics you might have forgotten. Must get salmon cakes (and/or salmon burger) at Salmon Spot! Amazing! Be sure and look for bears at Mendenhall. We didn't know to and kept hearing stories and seeing videos from others throughout the week about their bear sightings there. In Skagway, take the bus up (and back) to the north end of town to see Gold Rush cemetery and do short hike behind it up to the beautiful waterfall. It is totally walkable to get there but I felt like we wasted a lot of time walking through a non-exciting neighborhood to get to it. Definitely take the train ride and hang out on the end of the cars as much as possible for great pictures. It takes you across the Canadian border. Skagway Brewery was our choice for fish and chips - delicious. What I loved most though was the biggest crab leg I've ever had in my life! It's about $40 for a 1lb leg but so worth it! Hubby loved the beer. Loved the shops in Skagway as well. Much better for shopping. In Ketchikan, we booked a float plane tour with Seawind Aviation. Awesome pilot and fun way to see the Misty Fjords. Walk to the river and go upstream and you will see 1000's of salmon waiting for their chance to move forward. It's unbelievable. You can see them anywhere along the river. Our lunch here was in tiny building across from the ship called Alava's. Wonderful chowder in a to-go cup that we ate while standing in line to get back on the ship! The last port was Victoria from 8pm-midnight. We only got off here because I had never been to Canada and wanted to check it off my list of places I've been. It was late so we walked quickly over to Fisherman's Wharf to grab fish 'n chips at Barb's. It showed it was closing but they stayed open late to get the late arrivals off the ship. (The Salmon Spot in Juneau did the same thing.) Their cod is what the "famous" one on the menu states. The server told me it had a bit of fishy taste and that he preferred the cod or the salmon. Hubby had cod and it was huge, non-fishy and so flaky! My salmon was my favorite. Never had fried salmon but OMG! Cute area to walk and see the floating houses. It's a like a little neighborhood on water. It was really dark so we decided to just head back to the ship. Glacier Bay - Very Cold! That was the only time I wore my puffy jacket, gloves and beanie. Beautiful pics. We brought food and drinks out on one of the decks outside of bar and hung out for most of the day. We would take turns going in for refills of both. I really expected to see way more ice. The brochure and map they hand out was so helpful in understanding why the ice is receding and what it all looked like before. Definitely glad we included this in our itinerary. I don't have anything negative to say about the trip! There were a couple times I had a food item that I didn't care for but you can go back and eat something different anytime you want so that didn't matter. The cabins were laid out so unbelievably well. There was PLENTY of storage for all of our things. Loved that they provide hair dryer, shampoo, soap, handsoap, bodywash and lotion. I would suggest switching the bodywash with conditioner since you have a bar of soap already and handsoap at the sink. Us girls need conditioner! Announcements are always made over the speaker and on Channel 2 to let you know port info, etc. Channel 2 is nice to have on because it is a view from a camera off the front of the ship. I would recommend this trip to anyone! Read Less

This was my first civilian cruise and it was MAGNIFICENT! My wife and I had not been back to Alaska since the last century! Loads of changes in that time. The weather was perfect, 60 degrees F at night and 70s during the days. Rain at night only! Visibility was great during the daylight hours, except at sea. Glaciers had filled the bay with floating ice and the whales welcomed us to Alaskan waters. I cannot say enough about the crewmembers courtesy, politeness and efforts to make our voyage special. The excursions were outstanding and very much on time. Our schedule was only briefly interrupted once for a medical emergency where passenger safety was paramount. Although this was the busiest week of the season, the ship was not overcrowded and there was no real wait for anything, meals, drinks or boarding. We had an aft-facing balcony for this trip and it was worth every penny with those spectacular Alaskan views! We eagerly look forward to our next NCL voyage. Read Less

We loved the Breakaway last year, discovered Haven and didn’t even look at other cruise lines, booked the Bliss for our Alaska trip which we’ve been planning for a while now. Haven was great for embarking, disembarking and to skip the crowds which can be overwhelming. However, it’s exaggerated to the point of misrepresentation. You do get priority with dining but everything else is just regular. You have a concierge that calls around for you but if something you want is booked, it’s booked. Our trip also started on the wrong foot, a customer representative canceled our whole reservation by mistake 4 days prior to sailing - she was supposed to be canceling the airport transfer- 3 hours on the phone after being interrogated and put on hold to listen to the recordings and I got it back but allen reservations I’ve made were gone. And when I tried to rebook, everything was gone. Another few hours on the phone with no luck, no sympathy from anyone, not even an apology and we hoarded without any reservations. Haven concierge just kept saying everything is booked. Freestyle cruising is a joke, if you don’t plan months ahead, you won’t get to do the things you want. Race car and laser tag we’re both completely booked, we could do race car doubles only and once in the whole week. That was disappointing since we were counting on those two even though they charge extra. Our butler was nice but he didn’t have language or people skills to make anything happen. Luggage - tagged priority- came at 7pm, butler said sorry it will come from downstairs?! Everyday I asked for housekeeping at 9am, we get up early with the kids, no one stopped by before 1pm. I was washing coffee cups in the sink because housekeeping wasn’t responsible for those, it was someone else, butler we found out the last day. Small things but they add up. Jersey Boys was great, Broadway quality. However, there was nothing to do with the kids during the day. The simple silly things were really boring because the staff is not enthusiastic and language is really a problem. How can you entertain people if you’re struggling to speak English the whole time? And 80% of the activities revolve around selling you stuff and promotions. So we actually walked around not being able to find anything to do which was not the case at Breakaway. Haven lounge was a great escape and the observation deck there is outstanding, we spent most of our time there. Also the pool and jacuzzi was nice for the kids since it was indoors. Fitness center is a shame, it was full every single time I went and it’s so small. Just the lounge area of the spa is bigger than the fitness center. The weight equipment is lined up on the side so narrow, looks like an after thought. And no classes other than a 7am stretch class. This is a deal breaker for me. Dining is pretty good at NCL, however Haven restaurant was over staffed with under trained employees that walked around all the time but you still don’t get your coffee and only option is French press. For us, Haven was not worth the money and downstairs was too hectic so we’ve decided to look at smaller cruise lines and it’s ok if they don’t have a race track on top. Read Less

My wife picked this cruise based on reviews from Cruise Critic and the awesome deal being offered by Norwegian at the time. The Bliss is an unbelievable beautiful, clean and well run ship. Don’t cheat yourself out of a great time by going with something smaller or less expensive! We’ve been on several cruises with different cruise lines but this is the first one with Norwegian and the first time we bought the drink & dining packages. All I can say is going forward, it’s the only way to go! If you like entertainment, you’ll be pleased....The Jersey Boys & Liverpool Beatles were two shows you wouldn’t won’t to miss. They had other shows but we didn’t have time to see them. I would recommend booking your cruise early and taking full advantage of the specialty dining packages. The food & service was as good or better than any “land based” restaurants. Read Less

I was invited by family members, and I was interested in seeing Alaka, so I was happy to be included. Alaska was beautiful and the three shore excursions I chose very well done, though a bit expensive. But there were several issues for me. 1.The worst issue was the disembarkation. It was a nightmare. Trying to get 4000+ people off the ship in a period of 3 hours was unrealistic and the process was very long and exhausting. I would suggest having a longer time range to get off and adding more exits. This was terrible. Just getting off and back on the ship after shore excursions was unwieldy and crowded. 2. I am dairy and garlic intolerant and though the cruise attempted to make my dining more selected, the process was not done well. The food at buffet at the Garden Cafe was overwhelmingly cooked with dairy. We had to ask the staff about every item. We had to reserve a dairy free meal the night before for each of the restaurants, and even then, they would just tell us which item we could eat, rather than make adjustments in the meal preparation. Besides Jello, the dairy free dessert was unedible and awful. They told us we would have a "guide" for dairy free meals, but that person never materialized. Besides that, the food at the specialty restaurants was excellent. The main dining rooms, not so much. 3) The line at guest services was always a long wait and the phone to guest services from our cabin NEVER answered the phone. 4) The daily flyers were great but would have been a lot more helpful if they had been given to us in advance rather than the night before. That would have made it more feasible to plan our activities. 5) Elevators were too slow and too crowded. 6) When I went to see Jersey Boys, entrance to the theater were closed, and two people I was with were not allowed to enter after me because of space... BUT there were empty seats all over the theater, including two next to me!!!! There was no reason to close admission. 7) Arriving in Victoria at night and having only 4 hours there was unrealistic. I dont know if the itinerary can be adjusted but I wound up not being able to see Victoria... so a wasted time. Read Less

I have cruised with Norwegian 9 times now and have never had a bad experience until now. The food was cold, the wait staff forgot some of the order and when we spoke to the supervisor we were not welcomed back. When we went to the Italian restaurant we were told we could not gift our coupons to my parents which wasn't a problem at cagney's but we could gift what was left of our dining package at guest services, but when I went to guest services to do so I was called a liar and told he wasn't going to waste his time to call and check. Half of our party had their show times changed and the other half did not so we were separated. I will never go on this ship again and may never go with Norwegian again. On a good note the ports of call were absolutely amazing and our room steward was the best one yet. Read Less

came along as a group of 25. wish we had chosen either another ship or different time of year to sail. my least favorite of all cruises i have been on. second cruise to alaska. suffice it to say, i am not a megaship kind of cruiser. breakfast in the buffet? good luck finding a table. dinner at the buffet? good luck finding a table. oh...and reserve everything beforehand. everything. i am not that kind of planner...if you are, you are a good fit for this ship. while it is perhaps well suited for others, the layout of the ship with all activities taking place in the atrium is not my cup of tea. you cannot hear anything at the guest services or excursion desk if you are trying to get info. too loud from the game shows and other stuff going on. the plus side is everything you might want to do is very centralized on decks 6, 7 and 8. smallest mini suite cabin i have ever had and most expensive cruise i have ever taken. seriously not worth what i spent. the ports are beautiful, but owing to a medical emergency the night before, our time in ketchikan was cut to about 3 hrs . good thing we had been there before and knew exactly where we wanted to go. elevators had quite the wait. disembarkation was one of the worst experiences if not THE worst of any ship i have sailed. 1.5 hrs just off the thing, never mind the almost 1hr wait for our bus transfer to the airport. can't help that...the traffic in seattle is a cluster you know what on cruise days. choose another port to sail from...seriously...if you are not big on being patient. will i sail her again? nope. will i sail any megaship again? nope. As a Miami resident, we have sailed the Caribbean often. For this summer vacation, we decide to embark on an Alaskan cruise. This is our second Norwegian experience. We stayed in the Haven and had an amazing experience. Anywhere on the ship, the service was superb and delightful. The activities were well timed and diverse. We were treated like royalty all over the ship and enjoyed every minute. Food was delicious, amenities were immaculate and inviting, and the ship itself was magnificent. The destinations were well organized and timed. We cannot wait for the next one. We did complain about the Victoria excursion, Bites and Sites did not deliver the intended itinerary. We did have a walking tour but the bites were literally "bites". The caliber of restaurants described for the excursion were not even close. The staff in the Haven assisted us in rectifying the situation. The kids club for the 8-10 yr old was a blast and we loved the kids circus. We did explore Seattle 2 days prior and had a great time there also as it was our first. We loved the Jersey Boys and comedy and attended each multiple times. We felt we were on Broadway!!! Special thanks to David Contreras, Concierge Haven, for making it all happen for us Quan Qi, assistant concierge with helping fulfill all our requests and cancellations Haven Maitre D's Keith Poblete and Juline Canalang. The Bliss was very clean and you can tell it’s a newer ship. The Haven is amazing, great customer service, private restaurant was yummy, bar tenders always attentive, concierge always willing to help. Penthouse was nice size with lots of storage space with huge bathroom and balcony however I do feel the room was overpriced compared to other cruise lines. Butler “Walter” was wonderful. Cruise to Alaska did not have to fight for loungers at the pool deck. Casino is nice and the smoking section is separate from the regular casino so doesn’t leave you smelling like gross smoke. Laser tag was so much fun and a must. My son loved the race cars. Jersey boys was great. My son loved the splash academy! Cons: do your research and make reservations before you go. Everything books by afternoon first day don’t miss out. Race cars are fun but only 3 laps, too quick should be at least 5 laps. Havana was ok, not great but something to do. Bingo staff not entertaining but fun to play but expensive. Most Entertainment is in atrium and location is too small. Kids arcade much smaller than some other newer ships but it was entertaining to my 7 yr old. Food was good but not memorable at all. Haven was good but speciality restaurants were just average. Ate at steakhouse (ok), Italian (below average),Q-bbq (good). Margaritaville has good appetizers but burgers seemed like the same burgers served on the buffet. The local was good and ate there several times for quick bites. Cupcakes at the bakery were good but nothing special. I enjoyed the cake in the Haven Lounge more. Ate breakfast once in buffet and a couple lunches in the buffet and it was your typical cruise buffet but i was impressed by how clean it was and staff were always cleaning and clearing dishes and offered good variety of food. The ship was full occupancy but I always found table for 4. I never felt over crowded. The drop waterslide was not open the entire cruise (rumor was it was missing a bolt), kids water slides didn’t open till later in day. 1st day not till 4pm and every other day was 11 or 12. Everyother cruise I’ve been on opens early like 9/10am especially on embarkation day. My son was disappointed not to try out the kids slides until late on the first day. Also closes early but water is always warm so that was a plus. Kids waterpark is smaller than I’m use to. Would have thought they would have had more waterpark attractions on new ship but my son still had fun but gets crowded. Mini golf-5 holes, nothing fancy. Smoke stack blows on you while playing. No real entertainment on the pool deck at all. If you go with kids make sure to make reservations for race cars and laser tag $. Other than letting them play in arcades $ and going to the kids club splash academy there is nothing else for them to do. Surprised there weren’t more shopping options on board. The Margaritaville store and pool accessories not available on Alaska cruise. Overall it was a great family vacation and Alaska is beautiful and lots of fun excursions. The Bliss was a beautiful new ship. The ship was nicely decorated and clean. The restaurants were disappointing but I never went hungry. Just think I could have got the same experience for a lower price on a different ship; guess it was newer so paid more. I don’t think we would have had the same experience if we didn’t stay in Haven room. It was nice not to have to wait in any lines to get on or off boat and always had seat available for the shows but again would have paid less on another cruise line. Would love to go back to Alaska but most likely will try another cruise line for less but ship was big and beautiful and we did have great time overall. If staying in Seattle, the Marriott waterfront is across from the NCL terminal. We literally walked across the street with our luggage and were on the boat. Plus there is free shuttle outside that takes you to all the local Seattle attractions. Very convenient. Read Less

We (family group of 8 / 3 rooms) choose this cruise for the Alaska outings and wanted to try the large ship with great looking laser tag and race track. You cannot book those 2 in advance. As a result, when you get on the ship, you need to book for your entire week and availability is very limited. Do not plan on that for entertainment. The slide my teens hoped to enjoy was closed the entire cruise. On the race track, you cannot bump and speeds are very restricted, passing is difficult so the person first in line will always be first at the end. There are 4,000 people trying to eat in the Market Cafe which probably has seating for 1,000. It's a crowded mess and trying to sit with family is impossible (breakfast and lunch - horrible). Food is good, especially the Indian section. They must assume all cruising will pay for the additional restaurants. We did not, and when we saw some of those places they seemed available - for an additional fee. Very little entertainment options so bring books and games. There is ~1 or 2 show options daily and again, if you did not book before you came on board, you will likely not be seeing a show. The comedians we did see where great. Jersey Boys also was terrific - I booked that pre-cruise. The staff are robotic, sing songy, and have no attention to service or making your experience fun. First time on Norwegian and this is a striking difference from Royal Caribbean. Pass you in the hall - surly looks - not like you are their guest. Very limited public announcements about the days events. Sporadic screeching over a scratchy intercom that can only be heard in the public halls. It was great to see some whales from the ship and the beauty of Glacier Bay. Amazingly beautiful scenery all the time. The excursions were decent, but the time in port is extremely short. For teens, the teen club requires that you wear a bracelet the entire cruise. My teens would not go, due to that, plus nothing happening in there. They did hang out in the video arcade, but that was their main entertainment. 2 bowling lanes for 4,000 - not possible. 4 mini golf holes - 4,000 people - not possible. Fitness center is open at 6 (sometimes when someone opens the door). On a day we could get off the ship at 7 am, the Market Cafe did not open as planned at 6 am. We were told 6:15, then 6:45 by staff that acted like we were expecting too much. Norwegian - never again. We can and will receive better service on a different line. Read Less

we just returned from our cruise with ncl bliss. i just wanted to say if you use a mobility scooter and are concerned about getting around with the scooter in ketchikan, juneau, skagway or victoria dont be. we traveled to these ports. my husband and granddaughter went their own way and i was by myself with the scooter. ketchikan i took myself up to creek street and while i didnt see salmon there i walked up a street on the left followed the stream up and the salmon. went way up past where all the people were and there they were thousands of salmon. wonderful site! in skagway i took the ocean raft wildlife adventure. these ladies went out of their way to make sure i was able to walk (which i couldnt) and brought the bus where they could. in juneau i went to mendenhall glacier. the bus drivers took the scooter and put it under the bus. scooters MUST BE FOLDABLE. otherwise they will not take you. went out 2 miles to nugget falls. wonderful site. great photos. i probably could have done the helicopter and raft excursion but im afraid of heights. went thru the towns w/o any problem including the wood slated walkways. there is nothing to fear but fear itself. so give it a try. you didnt spend all that money to sit on the ship. enjoy! as for ncl bliss itself. i cannot say enough about the service or accommodations on this ship. i saw a waiter go over to a man and cut up his meat. even though this person was with his family and his wife was sitting right next to him. staff at the buffet would ask if i needed a table or if they could get something for me because i was in the scooter. they would ask if i needed assistance with an elevator. embarkation was wonderful. disembarkation in victoria was a bit annoying but then again the staff/crew handled it the best they could and even brought me down a "secret" elevator. the food was great. entertainment at all levels was wonderful. a cruise is what you make of it. we sat quietly in the observation deck reading & playing a game or two. we went to the comics and different bands, and saw havana and jersey boys, played bingo and daily games. its certainly what you make of it. sit like a bump on a log and you'll not enjoy yourself. i have been on other cruises. ncl was by far the best we have been on. a shout out to the maitre d in manhattan who made sure i had my cappuccino in a glass. even though he gave me his card, im sorry i misplaced it. my only complaint was at seattle airport. SMS & Sons Int'l. i did not pick up my luggage at the airport to board flight to nyc. jason who is the 'DIRECTOR' was a rude, nasty, arrogant person. even if i was wrong, he deals w/the public and should be able to control himself, which he cannot. how SMS has this person working for them amazes me and is a loose cannon. cant tell me i am the only one who left their luggage and he tells me 'the fact that you left your luggage @ the airport tells me something about you." i was furious w/this comment and made him know it. glad i spoke w/him after the cruise as he did not ruin it. but management should certainly pay attention to him. We decided to celebrate out 50th wedding anniversary by taking our children and their families on an Alaska cruise. The kids had been on NCL and had good experiences. The embarkation process was the best I've experienced. Staff was well trained and we all (11) got on the ship with no problem. We had three mini-suites, 9230, 9232 and 9234. The living space was definitely on the mini side. The rooms were so small that there was not a chair to sit on. We found out that there was another problem. The rooms received quite a a bit of noise from one of the ships venues . Only saving grace was that the band shut down at 11 pm. Reported this on the second day but didn't hear back from guest services until the following Friday. The problem was acknowledged and they were kind enough to give a $100 per cabin credit. Next thing, food. The food was nothing to write home about. A prime measure of a cruise to me is if I can get a good hamburger for lunch. Did not happen. Tasted like it had been cooked earlier and reheated. Next, the sirloin steak. A bit on the tough side. The group did go to Q barbecue, the Italian and Teppanyaki specialty restaurants. The food was OK,but nothing memorable. We sent to an early shown one night and attempted to get a bite in the buffet. Found the area closing at a little before 9 when they were supposed to close at 9:30. Had to confront a supervisor to get access to the buffet. The crew was very courteous to the guests but didn't seem to be happy with their work circumstances. Never happened before but I did hear several crew members complaining to each other about "unfair" work schedules. The production of Jersey Boys and Havana were enjoyable. The comedy club was also good but it sold out quickly and we could only see one show. The grand children did some laser tag, but could not get on the race track. Need to get this type of reservation when you first get on the trip. The pools on the ship were a big disappointment to me. THEY ARE ALL SALT WATER AND IRRITATE KID'S EYES. Had I picked up on this I would have booked with a different line. Read Less

We decided on the Norwegian Bliss because it is a New ship and seemed to have everything. We cruised with them 15 years ago and had a good experience. This cruise was not a good experience and they have lost my future business. Couple of issues: * 4700 guests and no more common space than any other ship we have sailed on. * The restaurant service was very poor. They rushed to get us out when they were there. * The food was below standard compared to the 15 cruises I have done. Buffet was ok * Needed reservations for EVERYTHING including dinner. We had seven and the best they could ever do was 9:00PM. So much for Anytime dining..Apparently if you don't get your reservations 90 days in advance of cruise you get what you get. Early shows were booked. Comedy shows sold out but was able to get in with the overflow group. Plan on waiting. * The premium drink package we purchased did NOT include water or coffee. * The world famous water slide / tube was closed for the entire cruise for repairs. * They offered a painting class that had 12 spots for 1 day only. Good Luck with 4700 guests and only 12 spots for a class. Why was it even in the daily program. * The drinks were not consistent. Find a bar you like and stay with it. Our biggest issue was the late dining time, poor food quality and service. Just FYI, the strawberry shortcake was made with pound cake. * Getting on the ship was simple but getting off at port was ridiculous. Again, 4700 guests is big if you dont have the staff to handle them. * One Starbucks coffee ship for 4700 guests. Yes, they charge. . Cabin was nice and steward was great. After providing examples of our issues, the manager of food services moved out last two dinners to 5:30. Expensive boat ride. Lost more cabins and the same amount of ship. When I take a week off work for cruise I expect a little more. Read Less

This was our first cruise and our first time visiting Alaska. Overall we had a good experience but we wouldn't do a cruise on this ship again. Positives: - Two highlights for us were two excursions we took. In Juneau with did a helicopter ride and walkabout to the Mendenhall glacier, this was definitely worth the relatively high price for the excursion. We also thoroughly enjoyed a bike ride that we did in Skagway. - We spent a bit more money to get a stateroom in the Haven, which is a separate, private section located at the top of the forward section of the ship. I'm not sure if our room was much bigger than any other room on the ship, but it was well-appointed with a nice big deck. Even better we had access to two private lounges, an indoor pool, sun deck, concierge and access to the Haven Restaurant. This was well worth the additional cost. - The food was great overall on the ship. We ate a number of meals at the Haven Restaurant. We also got a 3-meal restaurant package and are glad we did that. We had two meals at Ocean Blue and one meal at La Cucina, and all the meals were excellent. We also had a few lunches at the Garden Cafe, a buffet-style restaurant that offered any kind of food you would want. The food quality was high across the board. - Service was top-notch across the aboard on this ship. All the people working on the ship were professional, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. A first-class operation. - The ship's gym is good. We used it several times during our trip. Negatives: - A low point of the cruise, from our perspective, was the cruising in Glacier Bay. Due to manmade climate change, there were really no glaciers or icebergs to see except for one glacier at the very end of the bay. Lots of brown and green, and no wildlife. It was pretty depressing. - An odd segment of the itinerary was our stop at Victoria, BC. We didn't get off the ship until 8:30 pm and had to be back on the ship before midnight. So we really didn't have much time to see Victoria. - The beverage package was a bit awkward to use. I like to have a glass of wine with dinner, but the package didn't cover a lot of wines. You had to pay extra for most of the wines. - This final point isn't really a fault of the ship, but as a married gay couple with no kids this really wasn't the right ship for us. This ship is HUGE, and most of the people on the ship are large younger famililes with lots of kids and older straight couples. If we were to do another cruise, we'd try to find a smaller ship and/or a cruise for LGBTQ folks. Again, this isn't really a criticism of the cruise. We didn't really expect there to be a lot of LGBTQ folks on the ship, but we didn't think we'd be the only one. Read Less

We were a group of 10 - 6 of us were 50-60 years old and 4 of us were 15-20 years old. We had a WONDERFUL time on the Bliss. I've taken 20+ cruises, though this was my first time on a Norwegian ship - the Bliss is only a year old and really great. The race cars were fun, and laser tag was awesome. The Jersey Boys show was terrific (I've seen the NYC-Broadway production and it was well followed) but we thought the Havana show was "meh" at best. Service was excellent, from the room steward to the dining room servers, and the ship was always clean! There is a small closed in smoking area in the casino but the casino itself is non-smoking … so unusual but so wonderful. I didn't like the $10 craps limit ($10 blackjack is ok for me, but craps moves quickly and I prefer $5) but it is what it is. The food was very good - I haven't had "great" food in the last 10 cruises, but it was def very good - the buffet is well managed and well laid out and there were no lines. We didn't eat in any of the specialty restaurants b/c some of the kids in our group are horribly picky, but we sure didn't starve (get the mint chocolate mousse dessert when you see it on the menu - I special requested it a second night and was the hero of our group - it's that good)! The highlight of our trip was the Juneau excursion - we took the helicopter ride to the glacier, visited the dog sled camp, and rode on the dog sleds. At $650/pp it was def pricy, but it was hands down a once in a lifetime experience and I highly recommend it! In Skagway we did the gold panning/bbq lunch trip with the bus ride to the summit - the driver was awesome but the gold panning/lunch was only ok and not worth the $. Others in my group did the wildlife refuge trip and said that was awesome. In Ketchikan we just did the lumberjack show - it was an hour, it was corny, but it was fun. There are lots of shops there, so we were plenty busy. Only a 3 hour stop in Victoria, so it was rushed to take a bus downtown and back - wish it was longer. We saw whales at some point each day, and Glacier Bay was great. We caught a wonderful week of weather (it isn't wonderful for the glaciers but we enjoyed it) and had a terrific time. Read Less

We were excited about experiencing the new Norwegian Bliss, but were disappointed on several fronts. In short, there were just simply too many passengers on the ship. We had long waits for dinner service every evening. Also long waits for the elevators -- there were only 2 banks of elevators, and we often had to wait for several to go by because they were packed to the gills. Also there were always long lines at Customer Service. We had a hard time finding any quiet uncrowded space to relax . The Observation Deck was usually full, with no chairs available. The gym as well was over-crowded. We have been on 12 other cruises (Royal Caribbean, Princess, Norwegian, Cunard, Carnival) and have never felt so crowded. In addition, this cruise was more expensive than others we have taken -- so there was just no upside to this cruise at all. Very long waits to get on and off the boat at the Alaska stops, as well as the Victoria stop. Just so I'm not a nabob of negativity, there were a few good things. The comedians on board were very good, and we enjoyed Jersey Boys. Read Less

This was my 60th year of awesomeness; several friends joined me for the journey. I wanted to add places that I have not been for the 2019 trips. This was the 5th Trip of the year with more to come. The food was excellent aboard the ship with several dinning opportunities. Le Bistro... top notch, our server, “M”. (I cannot remember her name was superb. Cagney... excellent and great service by Ahmant. Taste... wonderful server, Mr. Cruz, he made our experience wonderful. Activities... There were fewer activities compared to other ships that I have been on. This could be better for adult and family entertainment. Prohibition was sold out, the Race trace was sold out...: The spa... wonderful. The warming lounge chairs are beyond description. The ports... just okay. Arriving at 8:30 for Victoria was a sad experience and not worth the walking tour we scheduled. Thankfully the experience of sailing and ocean views were great. The balcony view was worth the fare for great weather. Read Less

Must book activities and meal places within the first 24 hours or there is nothing available. I travelled with 2 teenage kids who were so excited about this ship. their excitement quickly turned to frustration as they couldn't do all the activities freely. The race track has a longer wait/demo time than the actually ride time. Same with laser tag. The slides were down the whole cruise for maintenance. Cabin is tight with 3 people in it. There was no where to put our luggage. The bathroom was ok. The dining experience is crazy. They have 4000 people on the ship and all trying to eat in the free places is mayhem. Everyone stalks for tables in the Garden Café. Towards the end of the cruise I made us go early to meals so we could get a seat. Feels like they are trying to force one to go to the 'for fee' restaurants. Staff is not friendly. During the week I only met 2 friendly staff personnel that were not robots saying whatever in a robotic voice. Lines for de/embarkation were LONG. Read Less

Short and sweet.... The cruise itself was amazing! The Bliss is an amazing ship and the crew were unbelievable. Dining options are very good and the food is amazing, however good luck getting into the dining venue you want. Even attempting dining reservations months in advance I could not get into Cagney's or Ocean Blue, I called and was told on the ship it would be no problem as they only pre book 10-20% ahead of time for reservations. Totally wrong! We were early on board between 10 and 11 am and they had a reservation specialist on the way to the ship. Cagney's and Ocean Blue were already 100% reserved for the entire cruise! To me, not having these choices available at all is highly unacceptable! My only other complaint the entire time was the photography studio. We were celebrating our anniversary on the ship and had a ceremony that was captured by the studio. We also had a shoot the same day in glacier bay. Since the studio took the photos we had no other photos of either event that day, not a single one! Now I was told when I inquired that they had something starting at $350 so I figured I could afford at least a few of the best pictures. When I went to view my photos they have packages already set and they were not anywhere in the realm of $350. The first package was 5 photos for $1300 and that was the lowest price package and they were astronomical from there. I could get the cheapest package and add digital copies of all 123 pictures for the low low price of $2400. There were probably 60 pictures that I would even dream of keeping and when I asked about just the digital files they will give them to you on a flash drive without any hard copies for $2000. So basically our big day and the real reason for the entire cruise was held hostage. They also do not have any way to order pictures after you leave the ship. The digital files would be nothing for them to store for at least a period of time and as a business they would make more money allowing post cruise purchasing for those of us not made of money. Other than that the cruise was wonderful and we will be going again I am just not sure about Norwegian as a choice in the future. Read Less
