This cruise was its initial cruise from Shanghai to Sydney via Korea, Hong Kong, Nha Trang, Saigon, Singapore, Darwin, Brisbane to Sydney. As an experienced Princess cruiser I was very disappointed at the start, but over 22 days the service improved markedly. Primarily, the problem was the lack of experienced waiters and chefs, and inadequate numbers of staff overall. The ship had been crewed by many Chinese and they left the ship in Shanghai to be replaced by a very large number of inexperienced staff. The situation improved when more staff were loaded in Singapore. The food was very disappointing as it rarely matched the menu. Too often the food was poorly cooked or sometimes not cooked at all! I had never experienced a dining room on Princess where at times there were no supervisors present and no waiters - they were all out the back trying to find meals. I wrote an extensive report on our experiences as the voyage progressed which was passed to Princess at the completion of the voyage. I hope they read my comments (and that of many others who also submitted reports) and have made significant improvements. The cabins (mini suite) were OK but smaller than normal. The cabin staff were excellent, always courteous and helpful. I wrote much more on our experiences but readers can get the idea. I expect Majestic Princess will improve on all its Pacific voyages. Overall the voyage was pleasant but not up to the standard of Princess. Read Less

I've sailed with Princess 19 times now and this was probably the worse. Started off with a very, very poor embarkation process in Singapore, though much of it I blame on immigration I do think that Princess could work better with them to move people through the hot, hot terminal. Nice TVs, 48 or 55 hung on the wall, so this was a plus, however I bring lots of movies with me and an HDMI cable. While the TV had these outlets they were unreachable and the remote would not allow you to change inputs, nor would the TV, so no movies to watch from my Laptop. Fox news is a plus! usually these cruise ships have only BBC and CNN but this one had Fox which is a real plus for me. Staterooms typical size. We were bringing our granddaughter but she cancelled at the last minute which was a godsend for us! Had she been on the little pull out couch it would have been very, very hard moving around the room. Vines, no Sushi, very disappointing! We had the late seating. I do this because I like to go to the show first, then have dinner, then bed. Well let's fool me, most shows started at 7:45pm on this ship, so we only got to see one or two, which was also disappointing. Hollywood Conservatory is an enclosed pool area and quiet area, however they keep the place freezing cold. I don't know how people can sit around the pool in there when it's so cold. Perhaps that's why it was never really crowded. I was looking for some R&R time in this retreat but didn't bother. One day I went to the future cruise office. Waited 15 minutes to be talked to. Unfortunately the clock had just struck 1pm when they close and the lady totally blew me off, told me I had to come back later. Not a good way to handle customer service. Wait staff was great as they generally are on Princess. The customer service desk was horrible. You could never get a straight answer out of them! By the last day I had had enough so my wife and I went to complain to the manager. We got one of the assistants and prior to him coming out of the office we had asked what time we would be getting our passports back, the girl told us by 7am the next day (departure day). While we were waiting another person asked the guy next to us and he said after 6pm tonight. Just another example of not getting a straight answer. When we told the assistant manager of all the issues we had with his service desk and what had just happened, he politely said "thank you" and walked away. Sorry, that is not good customer service. We chose this cruise package because of the destinations. We have been on quite a few different cruise lines but hadn't been on a Princess before. We embarked the cruise in Singapore and the queues were massive and slow moving. We arrived at the terminal at 12.30 and did not get to our cabin until gone 4pm. The fact that there were two cruise ships embarking didn't help I'm sure. A bit of poor planning perhaps? The ship is about a year old but I found one or two issues that pointed to poor build quality of some of the internal structure. For example some hand rails in the public areas were loose and out balcony sliding door was extremely stiff and creaked and groaned all night. The seating in the bars was very limited and filled up very quickly. There is a POLICY that forbids the reserving of sun beds on the pool deck but this was not policed at all. At any one time up to half the beds were reserved with towles, books etc but otherwise empty. We even noted some people reserving two beds each, one in the sun and one in the shade. The entertainment was only so-so. There were a couple of excellent comedians but not much else to excite. Food was good to very good and the choice was wide and interesting. The cabins were a little smaller that we have previously experienced but adequate and the bed was comfortable. As I said we chose this cruise for the itinerary and here we were not disappointed. In future we may use Princess but again only for the itinerary not for the ship. Read Less

Wanted to experience the new ship. I know it did state it was built for the Chinese market but didn’t expect it to that extent. Only very high end boutiques. No daily sales around the atrium like the other ships. No photo gallery- one had to flip through thick booklets of negatives! Laundry rooms were only at one end of the ship! Long long walk if you were at the other end. Food menu was very repetitive- disappointed there was no local cuisine when we were in each port. Onboard production shows were great. Lots of guest entertainers as well. Many passengers were complaining of the high costs of the alcoholic drinks. In some ports there were shuttles into town but it was not advised on the shore excursion portals when booking tours! Crew were as helpful and friendly as always. It was a lovely ship but I will stick to the other Princess ships Read Less

Far east cruise Feb-Mar '18 from Shanghai to Singapore. Our first time with Princess. I liked the ship and we had a good holiday, but the overall experience was not good enough to say that we will definitely sail with them again. For us it is usually the itinerary that entices us, and certainly is never based on cruise line loyalty, as we have yet to see this returned by any company. Good and standard obstructed balcony cabin layout E607 on deck 8 (pictures attached as I hope these will help others considering choosing this category) and, being quite a new ship, all amenities worked well, though my wife reported that there were almost always cubicles out of action in the public ladies toilets. Anytime dining works for us though we found the dining room menu's and food quality quite poor, especially beef/steaks were very tough. We never use the buffet except for getting an occasional snack to eat elsewhere, though positively we thought the quality here was better than other cruise lines. We ate twice in the steak speciality restaurant, first visit was very good, second not so good as waiter poorly trained, scallop starter (a mousse not a real scallop - penny pinching!) was disgusting in taste and consistency and the side dishes were cold so had to be sent back, which is very poor on a night when not busy. Very positive that the pizza restaurant and room service were not chargeable and the quality of both was good. Also, the coffee (payable) at the international cafe in the atrium was very good and with an egg and bacon muffin or danish made for an easy and relaxing breakfast option which we used often. Bar prices are average, not as expensive as Royal Caribbean but not as good value as P&O, however, the cocktails (approx $8'ish) were not dressed very much and were often quite dull, not living up to the menu description. When the barman asked my wife if the cocktail was good and she said it was not a great choice he was happy to swap it at no extra cost. Daytime entertainment was not extensive, but the trivia's were good. Theatre entertainment was mostly good, though surprised that the company dance troupe were not used more. Duke, the cruise director and his assistant Abi, worked very hard throughout the cruise. Although the enrichment lecturer (Neil McShane Oz outback PC) was not a natural speaker I enjoyed his talks. Annoying that Princess do not publish that they run shuttles in many ports (clearly do not want to impact on excursion sales, exorbitantly priced as usual). $20pp in Busan and Hakata was a total rip off, as the journey was very short, and we heard some customers who complained were given a refund. We preferred to use public transport (despite getting on the right bus but in the wrong direction in Busan!) except in Thailand where we did pay the $20 each for the 40 minute shuttle to Pattaya. It is also worth mentioning that immigration in all ports, as well as embarkation in Shanghai and disembarkation in Singapore, was very well handled in the background reducing delays. Princess deserve credit here. Overall, and as said, it was an enjoyable cruise and a memorable holiday. If Princess keep focusing on good agenda's then we will likely be back but they did not offer enough to win our loyalty. Oh lastly, we had a good laugh at a British lady we had seen many times walking fine around the ship suddenly walking with a walking stick to justify early boarding on the flight back before the masses. You know who you are!! Read Less

We chose this cruise because of it itinerary, which we really liked. Embarkation and Disembarkation were very smooth. First time ever that our room was available when we were aboard. Their handling of immigration and customs was handled very well. Our cabin B 736 was great. Aft of ship overlooking the stern. Extra large balcony, We had been upgraded from lowest catagory to deluxe. The ship was really pretty nice. As usual with any ship, never enough deck chairs. The common area was beautiful. The dining was challenging at best. I do not feel it was up to what we experienced on our last Princess cruise in 2015. Not much choice and the quality was not there. Have gone from a 3 course menu to a 2 course. They repeated the menu after 7 days. The buffet was almost the same food everyday. Service in the buffet and dining room was not up to par. Slow. Same can be said of the lounges, maybe a little short staffed. The entertainment was ok, the cruise entertainers were very good, but the brought on entertainers were not all that good. The shops for the most part were high end designer shops. We ignored the shopping. Usually do anyway. The cruise port speaker was ok, but he spent too much time on things that we would not experience or need to know for the short time in port. Could have spent more time on what to expect on the dock and local transportation and shuttles , etc for those not going on organized tours. We did not make use of the ships shore excursions as they were too expensive, We had arranged smaller tours with others thru the room call on Cruise Critic. Other than the lounges and dinning areas any other service was very good. Overall it was good cruise, but sort of felt that it was thrown together for these cruises. Read Less

I chose this cruise from COSTCO as i trust Costco for most major purchases. My wife and I had been thinking about a cruise for some time. This cruise was visiting many countries we wanted to see; Shanghai, Hong kong, Japan, Vietnam, South Korea, Thailand and Singapore. Boarding was very time consuming, about 2 hours, long queues. After a day at sea I got a really bad sore throat like swallowing a razor, in the morning it was not too bad but by late afternoon I was taking 3 advils at a time for the pain, this lasted until we deboarded finally, a day later i was okay. went to their medical but they wanted 95 bucks just for initial consultation, so i just put up with it. i never found out the cause, it was not a virus. Their restaurants wanted 29 bucks a head for speciality dining, like a steak or something, which i thought was way over priced considering we paid for meals. I read somewhere else, someone saying their food quality was equivalent to Mall court food - this is a good assessment. Staff were friendly and helpful. getting off at the ports was time consuming, the first port was Hakata in Japan, lots of pshing and shoving by guests to get off, i had one british woman try to climb over me and my backpack in the queue. typical of british women. i’d say the guests were 60% Aussie/NZ, 25% UK, 10% Asian and 5% USA. Cabins were nice but very small, bathroom were a total squeeze. Read Less

Firstly let me say that this was my first cruise so my expectations might be different to more experienced cruisers but in speaking to many others their views often reflected my own/The ship is "new" fast and stable. FOOD We ate mainly in the World Fresh Marketplace (Bistro) where the food was varied, ample in quantity and of a standard which would be found in most shopping mall feed courts. Waiter service was mostly excellent except on the morning where shore excursions started at 7 and no table staff-appeared till after 6:30. Specialty resteraunts Harmony (Chinese?) lets say that I have never eaten such dishes in China. Alfredos Pizza a choice of Five type of pizza. Grill Steak and seafood but no fish on the menu? Coffee costs rxtra0 never saw a thermometer usrf in thr milk Capucino = espresso plus hot milk? Latte = espresso plus more hot milk in a glass? Some Barista training required, Library -small space, few books, two seats and one internet terminal. Shore excursions- This was a maiden voyage. /did Princess send an advance party to vet the tour companies and facilitated? I think not. Example: Tour guide spoke highly accounted English Answer to complaints "We do not supply the tour guides" Example Sailing time is approaching =, an hour has passed amf no shutttlr bus, What starte as about 20 people has grown to 50 or 60 worried passenger. Did a bus come? I dont know, I caught a taxi.he answer to complaints "We don't supply the buses" No, but how hard would it be to have a staff member AT THE SHUTTLE STOP TO ASSIST PASSENGERS AND KEEP IN TOUCH WITH THE SHIP. Currency exchange machines generally did not dispense the relevant currency rg before arrival in Shanghai machines were dtspensing Japanese Yen. The final indignity was disembarkation day. Qued and waiting yo leave. Calls of nature found most of the toilrt out of service. Am I a whinger? I have tried to be constructive in mu comments. Slmodt every passenger I asked "How do you like the ship/cruise" would typically reply "We have cruised many times but we do not like this ship" often adding "it is too big" Would I cruide again on prince dd line. Perhaps but sadly, not on Majestic Princedd. Read Less

We are 'elite' rating and have travelled on many Princess ships. We were happy until now. Here is our summary, first the good part: food as good, piazza is lovely, lots of things similar to other Princess ships. But here is the bad part: cabin seemed smaller, 17th deck walking track is user unfriendly as you just cannot keep walking but have to enter the basketball court and exit on each walking round (strange design), walking track is dangerous when wet (I fell), definately do not board this ship if you want to smoke! The smoking area on the 17th deck is totally exposed to wild sea weather. Assuming you were indeed able to light your cigarette be careful as the ash flies around in the strong sea winds and may burn holes into your clothes. But if it rains just forget smoking alltogether as there is no rain protection at all.The seats could be easily dried with a towel when the rain stops, but you will have to do this yourself most likely. Could not see staff there for some time after the ra I n stopped. Not enough ashtrays and small tables but after Kuala Lumpur more ashtrays arrived. One more thing. Why on earth would Princess enter an Indian port (Cochin)??? Getting the visas was a challenge and extremely expensive ($A200 per person for us). Add to that the immigration entry fiasco on the day of our arrival in Cochin (it took almost 2 hours to go ashore!) and one wonders why an experienced cruise line would punish their passengers with this? So, to sum up, do not book this ship if you smoke or enjouy doing your rounds on a walking deck. How will the Chinese/Asian customers (who tend to smoke a lot?) Cope with this ship? What kind of ship design/market research people does Princess hire? Read Less

we chose this cruise as it was a new ship and wanted to try Princess cruising. we chose the wrong ship for the Princess experience. our cabin was good (mini-suite), but every time it rained, the balcony was flooded and took quite a long time to empty - no drainage - therefore there was already signs of rusting on the paintwork. the ship is lovely, but poorly set out. no quiet bar areas with just light music to sit and enjoy. all areas very open and noisy. the buffet had good choice of food, but never hot. always luke warm!. anytime dining completely separate to seated dining, felt like second class passengers! food just so so! again always warm not hot!!! Alfredo's (pizza/pasta) was excellent, soup delicious & hot, pizzas wonderful. Crown Grill also delicious, but noisy as it is open to their bar area. the crew on the whole were excellent. found the chinese crew not so, didn't seem happy to be on the ship. the cruise director should go back to cruise directors school, he and his group were boring. the casino area and so called VIP gaming lounges always smelt of cigarettes as you were allowed to smoke in them. phew!!!!! the tours were expensive and poorly organised, ending up cancelling 2 of ours. not enough time in most ports! and why oh why would the crew be sanding back the varnished outside stairs and re varnishing when ship only 3 months old?? so ship always smelt of varnish or paint - again phew!!!! photographers took boring photos, same ole poses...they need to try modernising their sittings and take better photos. although we had a good cruise and relaxed and enjoyed our holiday, this has put us off doing another Princess cruise. definitely enjoyed Holland America & Canrival cruises more. I dont think building a ship for a specific market (Chinese) has worked! and to cap it off most of the cruise half of the public toilets were out of order! Read Less

The ship was new, but although my room was nice, the bathrooms on the ship were usually Out of Order and there were many problems with the air conditioning. This may have been a maiden voyage, one of the reasons I wanted to go, but Princess has many ships and they should know how to build a high quality ship. The tours were awful. They did not show the main and important places to see. We liked the food and entertainment. They had great entertainment in the Piazza too. We were not so thrilled with all the daytime activities. Getting off at South Korea was a nightmare with the Passports. The staff and waiters were quite nice and very attentive. Not having a deck to be able to completely walk around like a track was not acceptable, and the exercise room was always hot. Made it hard to do my exercise. The computer/Library room was extremely small and totally unacceptable. Read Less

This ship was going to the Far East to some places which we had not been to before so it seemed a good cruise to take. The price was also very good for a 26 day package. We embarked ship in Singapore without any trouble and were soon in our cabin. The cabin was much the same as balcony cabins on other ships which we have been on but the balcony was not quite as big. However, we were quite pleased with our "home" for the three weeks which we would be sailing on the ship.our cabin steward was excellent and kept everything beautifully clean. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Of course everything was gleaming and fresh and I have to say that we were happy with what we were seeing. The Piazza was lovely and in my opinion makes the heart of a ship. Some entertainment was available in this area but not very much, the most of it being dance classes. There was a distinct lack of entertainment throughout the ship in the evenings other than the show in the main theatre. These were very poor and it would seem that very little money had been spent on hiring good entertainment. We only watched three shows during our stay on board. The Vista lounge seemed a waste of space. It was to be used but the Chinese who like to play Mahjong. However, we were told that it would cost 10 dollars per hour to use the very special tables which were in this lounge. We NEVER saw one Chinese person playing in this lounge, they all preferred to play free in the dining area in the cafeteria on deck 16.this lounge seems such a waste as I am sure it could be used to very good use without the special tables. The food was not to our liking as most of it was Chinese variations. In the evening we had great difficulty in choosing something from the menu. We fared best at breakfast time when there was a good selection of good. The only problem was that it was not hot enough and who wants a cold fried egg? The vegetables on the ship were like rocks, how anybody could eat them was beyond me, you could barely get your knife through them. The staff seemed friendly enough and were helpful mostly. We did not buy drinks from the bar. The prices are eye watering with the addition of a tax put on the price of the bottle of wine or on your glass. We did go on some tours but they were very expensive, often uninteresting and had a guide who could not speak English very well or understanderble and most of the time we did not know what they were saying. Money NOT well spent. In this part of the world I do not think that they are ready for an influx of hundreds if cruise passengers into their cities. In most places they do not have anything to show people and you are left wandering after somebody who has difficulty in making themselves understood. I felt sorry for them as they did try their best. One of the worst times for most people was the immigration face to face, to get your passport. This took us over an hour in a queue which snaked all around deck 5 to get a pass to be able to leave the ship. Even people who were not getting off the ship had to attend. It was truly farcicle. I like the library on a ship but this one was laughable, you could hold about 8 people within it. It housed the Two computers and the desk of the computer technician who was always extremely busy. There were very few books so take your own! However, having moaned my way through the above, we enjoyed the holiday but it could have been much improved. Saying that the ship has been made for the Chinese market does little to alleviate the poor service given to the other Nationalities who far outnumbered the Chinese. Good luck to the Chinese, they might need it. Read Less

First time on a Princess cruise and won't hurry to get on another one. Embarked in Singapore and got off in Shanghai. Chose this cruise as it let us visit a number of parts of Asia on our way to Europe. Also we were told that Princess cruises had a good reputation for service etc. We had no problem boarding the ship in fact it was the most efficient boarding experience we have had from the past number of cruises we have been on. Cabin was very good as was the service from our cabin person. We mainly had breakfast in the buffet on deck 16. The service there was poor and probably the worst we had from any cruise. Found it strange that we had to have the main breakfast in one part and then move to another part if we wanted pastries. The service did get a bit better the last few days of the cruise. Had anytime dining meals where the service was much better, however we wanted to try the normal dining but were told we could not do it. Entertainment on the whole was good but there were some artists that were second rate. This showed by the number of people leaving shows before they finished. Excursions we went on were good however the getting on and off the ship seemed very poorly organised. We sat on a coach for over an hour before the tour to the Demilitarized Zone started when visiting doing a tour in South Korea. As part of the cruise we watched the sports channel on our TV. We were extremely unhappy when this channel was discontinued about a week before the cruise ended, We have never had this before. Read Less

Chose this cruise because of the Singapore starting point and date of cruise. Embarkation was going through the usual long lines, even though we have platinum status. On the whole trip, I found no advantage for our status, except the captains reception, which has been downgraded too. The service on board is excellent, the staff very eager to please. The interior cabin on the deck twelve was nicely equipped and serviced during the entire voyage. The dining room service is excellent. The menu has been shortened, compared to our Atlantic crossing last fall on the sister ship. Breakfast in the buffet on deck sixteen was at times chaotic. It seems unable to handle the 4000 passengers. The atmosphere in the concerto dining room for breakfast was more sedate, even though at times there wore long lines to gain entrance. Entertainment wasn't always to my liking, but that is a personal thing and I would not fault Princess for not providing entertainment for every body's taste. I did miss a little music for the pre dinner cocktails, which we ended up having in the grill bar, since the it had the most competent barman on board. Also, some bars have been eliminated and the space filled with fancy shops. The disembarkation was the normal hang around until your color is called. But upon leaving the ship the experience went downhill fast. Standing in long lines before you get to the luggage hall. The luggage was piled heater skelter, not in color coded areas, and we had to search all around before we found our four cases. That is when the nightmare began. Somebody walked out with my suitcase and left his is identical one behind. Fortunately he had a detailed label on the case, but this was no use since he left early for a flight to Tokyo. I sent in a notice about my missing case, but up to this date have not heard back from princess. The other passenger took my case back to Texas there it remains so far. I called the person in charge of missing luggage after I came home. The only answer I got, this is not princesses fault, there is nothing that I can do, you are on your own. The person, whose case is still in Shanghai, was less fortunate. He has not heard from anybody and does not know who is in possession of his case, even with his complete address and tel number on the label. The very least I would expect, is to get a notice where the case is stored at the moment. Princess is unwilling to provide any help and the person handling missing luggage has a real attitude problem and is very snippy when called. On my next cruise I will certainly avoid Princess and try to book with superior Royal Caribbean. Read Less

We booked this cruise in July, 2016. It was the week and route we wanted and I read that it was a new ship. We have sailed on a brand new ship before and loved it, so this sounded perfect. Unfortunately, nowhere in the literature back then did it say anything about this ship being designed for the Asian market. The changes made on this new ship did not make it as enjoyable as previous Princess cruises. The Food - The food in both the World buffet and the dining room left a lot to be desired. In the buffet, the food was always cold. The waiters were not particularly attentive as we have experienced on previous Princess cruises. There were two sections to the World buffet, and often the selections were different. We seemed to always pick the wrong side to sit on! Our best lunch was at the pool. We had cheeseburgers and fries. We really missed the pizza parlor that is by the pool on the other Princess ships. We ate dinner in the Anytime Dining Room on 6 of the 7 nights. We had an excellent waiter (Michael J) on three nights only! Unfortunately, on the other nights our waiters seemed inexperienced. Shops - The addition of the "designer" brand shops was not a good thing. Perhaps they will see more use when they relocate to their new Asian Market. Excursions- We did ship excursions in three ports. They were all very nice with excellent tour guides. We did private tours in Florence and Rome. Passengers' Service Desk- This was completely understaffed. The line was always long and moved at a snail's pace. On the first night of the cruise I stopped by this desk to get a small amount of pounds that we would need for a taxi on our return to the ship from the Rock of Gibraltar cable car. Our excursion was one way only and you had to find your own way back. I was shocked when I was told they didn't have any pounds. They "got rid of them" on the previous cruise! Spa - We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the thermal pool and took advantage of it every night after dinner. We also tried several sessions of acupuncture for the first time and loved our clinician and the results. Princess Air - This was the first time we used this service and it was excellent! We were able to select the flights and dates we wanted and selected our seats 10 months ahead of time. The price was cheaper than if we had booked it ourselves. Overall - Unfortunately this was our least favorite Princess cruise. We will definitely sail on Princess again, but I will select the ship more carefully. Read Less

We boarded in Barcelona great city. Embarkation easy. We liked the ports this cruise offered and being a new ship were so excited to sail on her, We were on the Majestic Princess for 35 nights Barcelona to Singapore for our trip of a lifetime. The ship herself is beautiful and new but not a ship for entertaining her travellers. The Piazza was always busy for line dancing and ballroom lessons it seemed, day and night, when the entertainment of Evolution was on board it was a breath of fresh air to be able to enjoy the music and dance but after Dubai the new band was terrible, very poor entertainment for a princess ship. Heddon Band great and Arny G great for relaxing with a drink in the evening. Grill Bar was the only place to be entertained but had to dance on carpet or in the passage. Cruise Director Dan organised nothing much for the pleasure of passengers, Paper Plane making, Juggling lessons, not for me. Bingo on sea days was good but costly for 4 games. We were bored most sea days as was many other passengers, it was very hot to sit by the very small pool area for too long. Food was good in Market Place but fruit terrible and not fresh. MDR food was good. Harmony Restaurant fair. Grill Bar Restaurant great. Chef's Table excellent. Vines Bar is great but only opened at night and does not serve sushi as on other Princess ships. Vista Lounge a crazy setup with the gaming setup. Karaoke Area never used so Lawn Bowls played in the passage of Karaoke Area. No great discounted sale days, the high end shops always empty. Most Staff were very pleasant and some outstanding but some really didn't want to be there it seemed and were not interested in more than getting through each day. Disembarkation was easy and Singapore a lovely city. Having met some great people on this cruise made it enjoyable but it lacked a great deal of Entertainment and the new layout for the Chinese market is certainly not to our liking. We missed Crooners Bar, Explorers Lounge, Wheelhouse Bar, Larger Pools, Wakeview Pool area. PublicToilets never working and never clean. Public areas often not clean. We love Princess but will not sail on the Majestic again, and hope Princess do not stay with the concept of this ships layout. Read Less

Me and husband have certain expectation when decide to go for Majestic Princess cruise ship, as most of our friends have very high regards of all the Princess cruises. Given Majestic Princess has launched on April 14 this year. We did 7 nights (cartegena, gilbratar, Toulon, Livorno, civittavechia) The ship is HUGE, but the overall services not being able to keep up to its size! What a disappointment becuz, no matter the services of photographers, services at eating outlet, food quality, wine selections, entertainments are not up to the standard. We expected the dining at evening might be much better, again, the food were not fresh enough, tasteless, often the food were luke warm, if not cold, when dishes arrived to our table. My room with balcony was pretty small, compare with other competitor. No couch or coffee table in my room. Entertainment programs were boring. Not sure if the management of Princess have the budget Issue or want? The ladies washroom right by the Theratre on deck 6 was dirty and smelly!!!! The staffs in the food serving area were impatient during breakfast! We paid the normal fare for Majestic Princess, definitely NOT value for money! What I can say is, won't choose Princess in future. Have to stick with other cruise ship. Read Less

It was my 10 princess cruise and I’m very disappointed with princess. I did 7 nights Greek isles cruise from Athens. I’ve been on Royal and Regal Princess before and it was much better than Majestic. I understand that ship is going to Asia and will be oriented towards Asian market, but it still sails in Europe for 8 -9 weeks and should be adjusted towards regular clients and standards. The décor of the ship is very dark and calm, some of the staff has difficulty communicating with passengers. The food was below average, except specialty restaurants where food was very good, especially in Harmony restaurant. The breakfast was the same in the buffet every day. The Alfredo pizza place was the best choice for lunch. International café was pretty good. The same labyrinth mazes in marketplace buffet that everybody complaint about on Regal and Royal was the same on Majestic. You could not find your way in our out of the buffet. But the worth was entertainment. It was only 1 production show on the last night, comedians were not that great, and singers were ok.Cruise director was the worth I’ve ever seen on the cruise ships. He was trying to talk as least as possible and had minimum interactions with the passengers. The embarkation and disembarkation were very smooth. The ports were great, but we only docked in 1 port out of 5 ports we visited and tendered in the other, which was a hassle for a lot of people and waste of time to get to the port and came back. The service was ok on the ship, not enough crew and not enough experienced crew to interact with the passengers. Make sure you check your final statement at the end of the cruise, because there were many mistakes made on almost everybody’s account. The ports were very nice, we had excursions in every port and they were ok, depending on the guide. We had balcony room and it was very nice, but the balcony was tiny. The room was decent size so is the the bathroom. Overall it was decent cruise for somebody who does not know what a great cruise should be. Princess cruise line used to have higher standards and better quality of cruises than Majestic princess. Read Less

Sailed on the brand new Majestic Princess at the end of April for a Greek Islands cruise. Elite status made for a very expeditious boarding with almost no waiting at all. The Majestic is well appointed since it is a new ship and, as it is designed for the Asian market, all of its signage is bilingual with Chinese under the English (even the test the water temperature sign in your shower in your cabin!). There were noticeably more crew with a China origin than is normal for a Princess ship and everywhere one could find Mandarin speaking crew. In the main dining room at our table, our waiter was from the Philippines but our assistant waiter was from China. There were also noticeably more Chinese food menu items in the buffet offerings at breakfast and lunch, although at dinner in the dining room, there was no sign of the Asian leaning (we were told however that when the ship reached Asia later in the year, the dining room will have full bilingual menu in English and Chinese). Service was fine and friendly as is usual for a Princess ship. I have been on both the Royal and the Regal, sister ships to the Majestic, and by comparison, the Majestic has much of its open deck space and deck loungers removed, likely because Asian are thought to be less enamoured with sunbathing but also probably to reduce weight carried by the ship as part of cost-cutting. In fact, cost-cutting measures were very very much evident on my cruise: (1) I requested a queen bed configuration in my balcony stateroom for single occupancy and instead of using a queen mattress to top two twin beds, they simply pushed two twin beds together leaving a prominent ridge in the middle of the combined bed, a complaint to the hotel manager did not help as he simply had his assistant call to leave me a message indicating they no longer provide queen mattresses except for suites, (2) instead of the Princess standard (at least as of last year) three choices of soups and two choices of pastas set out in separate sections in the dining room menu, the Majestic dining room combined all soups and starters under one heading for appetizers with only two soup selections and one pasta selection each evening, and the special Norman Love collaboration chocolate desserts were not available every evening but instead on just some of the evenings, (3) the dining room was opened for lunch only one day - the at sea day - instead of being opened each day of the cruise for those who would like to dine in the dining room rather than just go to the buffet, (4) the lunch buffet had the same food, except for the daily roast, each day for two or three days in a row so combined with the dining room not being opened for lunch, made lunch a somewhat less interesting and more repetitive experience than on previous Princess cruises, (5) the entertainment in the piazza consisted only of the piano entertainers and string quartet that usually provided entertainment in the various lounges in the evening rather than special acts such as body balancing duos or jugglers brought in just to perform in the piazza as in past cruises. As a result of these cost cutting measures, I wrote a long multi-page comments letter to the hotel manager, made much mention of cost cutting in completing the post-cruise survey and e-mailed an inquiry to Princess on its website about whether the no-Queen mattress policy applied only to the European cruise or will apply also to Caribbean cruises. I have had no response to my e-mail inquiry and no follow-up from Princess on any of my comments of concern. In particular, as a single occupancy traveller, I stressed to Princess the no Queen mattress policy would be a serious deterrent to my booking with Princess for future cruises. As for the itinerary, the 7 days Greeks Islands cruise has a good itinerary with a good combination of islands with historical cultural sites, and sunny beach-filled islands like Mykonos. I was particularly surprised by Kotor Montenegro, which has a very lively city center with lots of cafes, restaurants and bars that I wishes I had more time to enjoy after taking a Princess tour of local sites. Another nice surprise was Khios (or Chios), a small island only a few km and less than 30 minutes by boat away from the coast of Turkey. In addition to showing us the sites, the guide also gave us some local thoughts on the impact of the migrant crisis as Khios is close enough to Turkey to receive its share of migrants even if most head for neighbouring Lesbos instead. As a sign of the changing demographics for Mediterranean cruises, our cruise director told us that of the approximately 3,600 passengers, about 1,000 were from the US (less than 1/3), followed by about four or five hundred Australians, about four hundred Canadians, and then a couple of hundred from each of Russia and the UK. In fact, there were so many Russians that all shipboard announcements were repeated in Russian after being made in English. Read Less

We are Royal Carrabean cruisers and first time with Princess. One of a few cruises that included Rhodes in their itenerary. We spent 3 weeks on board. The ship is intended for the Chinese market. That is fair enough, BUT doing a Mediterranean cruise, we expected a bit of the local cuisine as most on board at least over 2000 we're from US, Canada, Australia and UK. Chinese were not the majority on this cruise, They didn't even offer FETA cheese when the majority of the 3 weeks was spent in Greece. FOOD. Not very good. Sit down quality was awful. The buffet was slightly better but the lay out very confusing. THE WATERMELON was SLIMEY and off for the first 2 weeks of the cruise it improved on the 3rd. STAFF. First 5 minutes on board encountered the most rudest staff on board. People were pressing their floor numbers in the lift and she went ballistic at 10 paying passengers. Not a good start. We accidentally left my husbands jacket with subscription sunglasses (worth $600) at the disco very first night. Went back to collect and it had gone missing. Went to enquirer counter where they confirmed it was not handed in. When we mentioned that if it was not handed in that it was then stolen! The staff member then said it was our fault for leaving it behind. So be aware people it's FINDERS KEEPERS on board. Kudos to Tony Keay though for at least getting his staff to look for it ENTERTAINMENT EXPERIENCE. The person who organised the seating, should be fired. You cannot reach 60% of the poker machines as the chairs are too big for you to squeeze through. Same everywhere around the ship. Dance classes in the piazza was a joke. I got trodden on pushed, shoved and hubby got a hand to the face by an over enthusiastic Chinese lady. Unfortunately during one of the shows, a fight broke out over seating which continued for over 8 minutes and ruined the show for many. Maybe if staff disallowed people sitting on stairs or standing in hallways because of overcrowding, this would not have happened. PLUSES. Best way to see the Mediterranean as long as you just use the ship as your moving hotel rather then expecting the ship to entertain you. EXCURSIONS. We spent over $2000 on land excursions and most were fantastic. Only minus for us was having to go to Kotor 3 times and Missing out on Messina because of weather. All in all I would do the Mediterranean cruise again but unfortunately not with Princess. Read Less

we chose this cruise to meet up with relatives on the ship who had travelled from Canada, We were disappointed with the entertainment we had to wait for 2 weeks for the one and only big spend show by the resident company. The food was poor in the Allegro set time dinning not very imaginative cold and please do not have the short ribs a mix of grissle and fat the menu was repeated for the second week. The Market place self service was disorganised much too big and like food was never together for eg if you had cooked breakfast the fried eggs were 3 aisles away from the bacon. Hot food was not held at a high enough temperature. This I found very worrying. The shore excursions were overprice. The drinks were very expensive. Disappointed that we went to some islands twice they were repeated the second week. overall the cruise was very overpriced This was not how memories are made Read Less

our first suite after 21 princess cruises. Chinese influenced ship (we thought slow boat to china) and all new musicals chance to reaffirm our faith see places I served in. Food usual princess quality, ports changed a privledge of princess. Only one musical not 3 as advertised but it was very good. Chinese specialty food cold and mediocre the time we tried it. Tours were moderate to stress on most stops not much for handicapped folk. We used cabs mostly and got around less costly than tours. Staff was superb in all areas especially the Maitre D who took special care of us handicapped folks. Ship is very pretty the ceiling in central area is breath taking and a marvel. smoothest onboard and disembark everi. Since ship is destined for China sea and then Australia region most staff were knowledgeable in several languages and were a mix of Asian and European. Dont get me wrong, the ship was beautiful inside and out, but on a ship not even christened yet,we thought they could do better Read Less

My Wife and I chose this cruise mainly due to its Mediterranean Itinerary as we had not cruised with Princess before. The destinations themselves were all great to visit - although there were some issue with the itinerary changing. With three weeks on board, we ended up visiting Kotor three times, which although a lovely place, became a bit much. Cruise itself was not up to the standard of other cruise lines that we have been on. For the first two weeks slimy Watermelon was served for breakfast, which was just disguising :-(. Food quality and variety overall was just average with my wife sometimes struggling to find something to Her taste. The seating layout throughout the ship was also poor with it sometimes being almost impossible to access a seat - especially the poker machines in the Casino. The Hollywood Pool Club, which was also used as the only night club, was poorly thought out and seem to be an after thought with very poor patronage. I could go on, but others seemed to have covered that well. Read Less

Picked this cruise because we have used Princess before. The ship was new and originally going to places we desired. However, troubles in Turkey saw port cancellations, port triple up and rescheduling. Eight of the 10 Princess tours we took were quite ok, even for the price. However, although the Amalfi Coast was great the Naples bus tour guide was terrible. Too much extra-sales baggage to cope with. The other poor tour was in Rhodes, which was a fantastic place, where the guide was softly spoken and newish. The Greek tours had nil high level sales pitch as did the Mt. Etna tour. The front desk staff must have been under pressure since they were far from friendly. The rest of the staff were wonderful. The food was good except the choice of desserts was less than on other ships. The laundromat token dispenser was woeful. Access to the seas was constrained, we love cruising but felt we were isolated. Our balcony looked down on the tenders and we could not see the sea immediately below us. There is no real promenade AROUND the ship and we love to promenade and exercise on deck 7. Much of the upper deck was covered with plastic sheeting above the railing which further isolated us. The cabin was really good but don't get one with an adjoining door to another cabin since they are paper thin and you can hear the folk next door easily. Bad if there are kids next door. One of the really good things was although the ship had so many people on it we never felt crowded. Princess entertainment was patchy but the best thing ever was the elegant string quartet and of course the trivia contests. We had know difficulty with the tender transfers whatsoever. Some people forgot that at some of the ports no ships could have berthed. An average cruise mainly affected by the ship's design for me. Read Less
