We chose this cruise because of the route from Sydney to Singapore, but it was terminated at Perth because of the Coronavirus. It was announced during a show in the theatre by the captain, whereas we understood the reason ,it had a deflating effect on the rest of the cruise all the people we spoke to felt the same. One man said it was the most disastrous cruise ever, his wife said “ it was not that bad “ but that’s how my husband saw it , so much so he said he will not cruise again, for us it cannot compare to celebrity cruise line. We found the entertainment poor ,apart from the gymnastic performance , a violinist who was good, how they called the rest of the entertainment headliners, it beats me. The food was disappointing in the Main dinning room , we found the market place food disjointed wandering round looking for food, one man said to me there is no Continuation it doesn’t flow, I understood what he meant, the bacon and sausage were either under done or very well done, the people behind the counters, were so indifferent and did not make eye contact with you and begrudgingly did you a poached egg, why on earth were the omelette station not with the other eggs, the scrambled eggs very wet and unappetising or sliced you a piece of meat. The waiting staff in the market place were very helpful and pleasant, it’s a shame the counter staff were not of the same mind. The bar staff very friendly and helpful worked really hard , the ship was really clean and plenty of elevators. We found the cruise director scruffy looking ie shiny suit and not pressed , on night he had a button missing off his jacket. One last point I submitted that I was lactose free, they brought me the menu for tomorrow’s menu , but it was just plain veg no sauces for the meat or fish that I had, one night I had dry over cooked sea bass, very unappealing , they did make an effort with a Creme brûlée, but it was like rubber. If I can make sauces and make food tasty , I just wondered why I was not catered for by top chefs , my desserts were mainly fruit plates because of imagination. Read Less

A beautiful ship. Service is the reason we come back for Princess even some not smile, why fuss about little things. Usually February is the best time to cruise Australia, but this year we experienced rain, wind, rough sea, etc.. Bristol Sur La Mer offered good food but in the wrong location. A partition Is needed to seperate the restaurant and the passengers traffic. Harmony Chinese restaurant is quite disappointed. Food looks good but bland. Our cabin steward is friendly and always greet his guests. Thank you for keeping our room clean. Guests performance always touching and fun to watch. Buffet not much variety but you won’t get hungry. Soup need to be improved. Entertainment is far too loud to enjoy. Finally enjoy the fountain show which we missed on Regal Princess because of the strong wind. We missed the older ship’s promenade deck which you can have a pleasant walk around and enjoy the breeze. Overall a nice cruise. Read Less

We were on the six day segment from Sydney to Adelaide. So the major issue with this cruise was the poor attitude and service from the staff. With the exclusion of the cabin stewards, the rest displayed attitudes ranging from indifference to sometimes even hostility. None of the crew seemed to know much of anything about the ship, and seemed annoyed often to even be asked a question. I am not complaining about a single event, but rather a long string of them. This was our fifth cruise and second with Princess. By far it was the worst. Embarkation was smooth. I'll give them that. Shortly after boarding, there was a stand where you could purchase beverage packages. I wanted to purchase a soft drink package, but was told I could not because we were only onboard for 6 days. However, if I wanted to get the booze package that was perfectly alright. I asked for the manager to get an explanation, which basically only consisted of him saying that this was from the corporate office. I then said if its going to be like this I might not want to cruise with Princess in the future, to which he replied that it was OK with him...with a real attitude attached by the way. I had purchased casino credits online. I do this in order to budget for gambling. I expected to find a voucher in the room, but did not. So, I went to the casino to find out more information. The lady in the casino said she had no idea and directed me to the purser. I went to that desk only to be shuffled back to the casino. I eventually found someone, by the grace of God and luck, who knew something about this. This took at least an hour. So, lets look at this as a chain of events. First, the lady in the casino should have known SOMETHING. Secondly, if she did not, she should have offered to contact the front desk for me instead of shuffling me off. I felt more like a ping pong ball than a guest or customer. Wait staff in the buffet was hit or miss. One morning at breakfast we had been waiting for some water for nearly 10 minutes. There was no one to be seen. Out of frustration, I got up and got a jug of water myself...and would you be surprised to find out that two servers appeared within less than a minute to tell us we could not do that. POWs get better treatment...as they do not have to beg for water under Geneva convention. That was really what this cruise was all about...don't bother the staff, and if you do, expect some sort of unpleasant outcome...whether its being bounced around like a ping pong ball...or chastised for getting water...or told they don't care if you cruise with them again or not. Then, I wanted to find out about the laser shooting gallery. No one...out of half a dozen people I asked, knew where it was. I finally located it on my own, and it was locked up tight as a drum. I asked a security person if they knew anything about it or when it would open. They said no and then turned and left like I did not exist, without so much as an offer to call or look into it. Again, I returned to the customer service desk. There I asked to speak with a supervisor, and a fellow named Oggi came out to speak with me. Oggi was initially very defensive about the churlish nature of the crew, but eventually seemed to be receptive. I think he has heard it several times over. After speaking about the difference between customer service on this ship and others, we spoke about the shooting gallery and I was fairly surprised to find out it was closed on sea days. This makes no sense. There is not that much to do on the ship...so why only open it on days when there is something to do by going ashore? On to the dining...which was great at the Crown Grill, but atrocious at the buffet. The thing was disjointed with little to know continuity or logic about where to find stuff, except for the desserts and breads. The food was usually luke warm or cold. The only real vegetables would be at the Salad bar, Coffee was never hot. Now lest talk about the lobster bar. I fancied to treat myself to some grilled lobster. I LOVE lobster and did not think twice about paying extra for this. I am not sure how the chef was trained to cook lobster...but it was certainly not prepared in way I had ever experienced before. It had to have been soaked in salt, boiled in salt, grilled in salt, and rolled in some more salt for good measure. It was so bad I spit out the first bite. I decided not to complain and simply suck this one up because I knew that speaking with the staff would only get me more aggravated. I just wanted the cruise to be over by this point. The only good place to eat was the pizza place...which was fantastic. The service was great, the food was great, and it came out hot. The staff there should give training to the other crew about service. I don't expect to have my rear end kissed on a cruise. I think some people do. I do expect, and rightly, that the crew will be helpful and considerate...placing themselves in the shoes of others. That's just basic civility, which they are lacking. The whole experience with the crew made me very sad...because I always had positive feelings about Princess based on our prior cruise with them. I now have to take them out of the running for future travel because I simply don't want to be mad and aggravated when I vacation. Read Less

We did a six night Sydney to Adelaide cruise, via Hobart and Melbourne. The ship is beautiful and still fairly new so everything was lovely. Our cabin E707 mini suite was a good size with bath. Two flat screen TVs, balcony was adequate but not large, just standard size and was umcovered. Our friends were also in a mini suite M428 on deck 15 and they had a large covered balcony so do your research. We both received free upgrades from standard balcony to mini suite so we were very happy. As we travelled with friends we did not attend any of the production shows. We did use the MDR mostly, with good service and nice food. We used Crown Grill, which was delicious and heaps of food $35 per head. Service was good although the waiter had several tables so he was really running between tables. We also ate at the French La Mer which was also delicious and $35 a head. One lunch we had burgers and noodles from near the pool area. Noodles were good but burger was just ok. We had dessert once in the buffet, we didn't eat any proper meals here. It was very crowded with queues waiting to go in whenever we went there so we avoided the buffet. The ship has sinks outside the buffet so people have to wash their hands, which is excellent. I really like how Princess is in Australian dollars when cruising from here, very easy for us. The laundries are on most floors and they are excellent with several machines. I only used the iron, but the space was clean and there was no waiting. The champagne waterfall was a fun night, formal night. Lots of people dressed up, lots of tuxedos. It was beautiful. We did our own thing in the ports, hired a car in Hobart and caught the 109 bus into Melbourne and went to the Victoria Markets. Read Less

We chose this cruise because it went around parts of Australia and the overall package seemed a really good deal to us. We hadn't cruised Princess before but had heard good reviews and that it was a step above RCI and just below Celebrity so we were really looking forward to it. We started in Sydney on 12th February, the staff were all friendly and smiley (except for the young lady who served us drinks in the bar as we got on! She really didn't want to serve us). The ship itself was a little bit like Ventura in as much as we quickly realised that you had to go to deck 7 to get anywhere but I found it didn't have the flow of Ventura. The shops were ok although overpriced, as are other lines, but we experienced extremely highly pressurised selling unfortunately. We found the entertainment poor overall, although the Fiero show was very good, and there was an extremely good vocalist Rietta Austin on board. Saw both her shows and her voice is magnificent, spoilt only by the "comedy" element she adds in - she really doesn't need that element to her show as her voice is outstanding and I would happily listen to her for an hour or so without the comic stuff (which I didn't like), other passengers I spoke to felt the same. The buffet was much the same as other lines, slightly better organised as waiters came and served your drinks as you sat down, which we found much better than P&O where, in the main, you get your own. The bakery was excellent and I found myself eating rolls and Danish pastries where I wouldn't normally bother! Otherwise we found the food choice and quality not to be as good as P&O or RCI. MAJOR problem for us was not having a kettle to make our own tea and coffee - especially when the jet lag meant we were waking at 3a.m and wanted a cuppa. Ringing and waiting hour 20 mins - half an hr for room service just didn't cut it for us. Also, quite often we couldn't get an answer from room service so that was irritating. We did like the fact that the Entertainment director Andrew held an all denominations church service with hymns and a little talk and was really good, we thoroughly enjoyed that. Service from staff was mixed, our dining room waiters were very nice, but elsewhere (like the coffee lounge) staff weren't very happy at all :-( Sadly our cruise was cut short due to health concerns in Malaysia and we terminated in Fremantle, I have no problem with that as it can't be helped with this Coronavirus business and Princess were looking out for our health and well being. They have said we'll get 50% of our cruise fare back (been back a week and still waiting, apparently it will be at least 10th March before we see any money back) and also 50% off a future cruise with them as long as it's to the same value and we take it before Feb 21st next year!! This last fact of cruise cut short etc has had no impact on my opinions of Princess - some things can't be helped and are no ones fault. IMO P&O and RCI are FAR superior in all aspects apart from waiters fetching drinks in buffet Read Less

The decor magnificent, crew so friendly ( but they are always ) food fantastic , balcony cabin very nice and how cool is the glass bridge took some fantastic pictures. Can’t wait to sail with this ship again.embarkation was fantastic, no holdups , disembarking wow of in 5 minutes no hassles at all the only thing we would change would be the bed , take bed and shower head from Ruby Princess and the ship would be 200 percent . We sailed from Sydney to Tasmania only an 8 day cruise but we loved every minute of it , in fact we didn’t want to get off . Food was good no matter where you ate we just loved it. Read Less

This was an 8 night cruise from Sydney to Melbourne, Hobart then back to Sydney. Boarding was easy and painless, about the best cruise line we have experienced for this. The ship is new, clean and despite it's large size it never seemed crowded or that big. There is a large central atrium with 3 surrounding levels. There are a selection of various shops on the top level, restaurants on the middle level and bars and a cafe at the bottom with guest services as well. The top level in the atrium extends forward and back through the entire ship. The princess theatre where the main shows are presented is on one level and seems a bit small compared to other ships and certainly for a ship of this size. There is large lounge (Vista Gaming) at the rear of the ship where other shows are presented. Shows were good. We occupied ourselves with the regular trivia events which are great way to meet with people. Speciality restaurants- the Crown Grill steak house is good, the Harmony Chinese restaurant is certainly not for everyone. The normal restaurants were fine and the World Fresh Marketplace buffet is as you would expect-busy. Food quality was good but variety not so good- very little daily change in the buffet. We selected anytime dining and met some entertaining fellow travellers from all over the world. Compared with other cruise lines I did not find the crew generally that friendly this time. The dining room service could be slow, not sure if this is due to less staff? The lifts were always busy and pretty slow. Beer prices are not too bad but spirits and cocktails are too high. We had a day at Port Arthur which was the brilliant and this was accessed by tender- well organised. At the other ports we did our our own excursions. The cabin was a reasonable size, comfy bed, large TV, big walk-in wardrobe leading to a bathroom. Always kept clean by Rodrigo. Air-conditioning was efficient. The balcony was small as usual and not used. Disembarking was also very quick- brilliant. Read Less

I’m not even sure where to begin with this review as I’ve never felt compelled to leave such negative feedback about a cruise, let alone whilst I’m still on the ship! A bit about me first, I’m 31 and considered ‘quite young’ to be passionate about cruising however this most recent cruise (which I am still currently onboard) Majestic Princess is my 9th cruise in all, 4th on Princess. Other lines I’ve enjoyed time with have included Cunard, Holland America & Royal Caribbean. I consider myself a ship enthusiast, I love the history of passenger shipping hence what draws me to modern day cruises. I’ve always been such a strong advocate of cruising and have become known in my circle as ‘the cruise guy’, so I’m often helping friends book their first cruises after telling them of my fantastic experiences. We decided to book Majestic Princess departing Sydney, February 4th for an 8 day trip around Tasmania. We also asked my parents to join us onboard for the trip which they agreed. This is their second cruise, they first cruised 4 years ago on the Golden Princess and absolutely loved it. I chose Majestic because of how new it is and it looks great in Princesses marketing campaigns. Unfortunately that’s about the only positives I have to say. I truly hate to sound like one of those people who just complain about everything but like I said, I’ve never felt this way about any cruise before as I love cruising. I just feel that based on this experience, Princess have completely turned me off any future cruises with them and certainly any ever again on Majestic, maybe even any ship in the Carnival Corp Fleet?. I’m a realist, I know the world isn’t perfect and I’m a very understanding and polite person. To be honest, even on past cruises when there have been negatives, I’ve completely brushed them under the rug due to my passion for ships, I’ve made excuses for cruise lines but I’m not doing that this time. It’s time to point out the flaws so that others can be truly informed about the current state of Princess Cruises. Embarkation: The quickest embarking process I’ve ever experienced which was great and certainly helped fuel the excitement of our trip! We were onboard within 10 minutes of arriving to the terminal. They lost my mums suitcase which she got quite worried about, being so new to cruising this is understandable. I tried to calm the situation by telling her it will turn up soon and to wait however eventually she had to go down to the guest services desk and ask after it. To which she then had to find it herself out of a pile of ‘missing bags’. She was also told by a staff member ‘why are you worrying it’s not a big deal.’ When she was worried about it. My fathers brand new suitcase also arrived to the room with one of the wheels snapped off almost fully. He then stayed up till 3am the first night trying to repair it himself using my mums eyebrow tweezers as a screw driver in their mini suite. Stateroom: Mini suite A226. I’ve only ever travelled in suites or ‘mini/junior suites’ so the room was as expected however, compared to Golden Princess and other ships I’ve sailed, Majestic Princess mini suites are not the greatest. Certainly the smallest balcony I’ve ever had, seriously it’s about 1m deep? The layout is extremely similar to the Grand Class ships but slightly updated. I prefer the older version. The bathrooms are also small for a suite and really should have been addressed when designing this new class of ship. The toilet in the suite was acting a bit strange from when we boarded. It often wouldn’t flush properly or would take a minute after pushing the button to then flush. Eventually it stopped working completely mid cruise and had to be fixed. The bed is not comfortable at all. I read so many reviews saying how good the beds are, really!? My plush mattress at home is way more comfortable. The ship: Yes she’s a pretty ship, the decor and the colour scheme inside is very contemporary and nice. Layout is shocking, I absolutely cannot stand everything being focussed around the Piazza area. For such a grand, lovely space, I was sick of it by day two. Deck areas are nice with lots of couches and lounges and the pools and spas all great however, the Enclave area is not fully functional, one of the saunas doesn’t work and not all the jets in the pool are working. Not something I would normally complain about, however when are these cruise lines going to question whether it is right to charge passengers full price to use these facilities that are not fully operational or as promised? That’s wrong. I’ll also note that the hull is very rusty and dirty and is in need of painting. Obviously this is hard on a ship and I get it takes time etc but have some pride in the ships external appearance. It says a lot about the standards onboard. Staff/service: This is the major let down of this ship, I can honestly say I’ve never experienced such an uninspiring, careless, unhappy mob of workers on a ship, the attitude of the staff have been the biggest let down. This ship has such a strange vibe, it just doesn’t feel right onboard. None of the staff are warm & friendly. Everyone seems pained to be working onboard and every simple request eg; ‘Hello, how are you today? Can I please buy a drink..?’ You are made to feel like you have bothered them. Even if they are completely not doing anything or serving anyone else at all. To be honest, I was confused as to whether the staff were all just on holiday because they all seem to just loiter around talking to each other and ignoring passengers. Restaurant staff, unprofessional and rude with no idea about the food or drinks or basic manners such as apologising when your meal arrives after everyone else at the table has finished eating there’s, this included the waiters in the Chops Grill paid restaurant who basically were too busy to even ensure we had a pleasant experience. We felt bad for even being there. Bar staff all shocking and no customer service skills at all. Not even general politeness such as ‘Hello, how are you?’ or recognition of you after constantly seeing the same bar person day after day. To be honest I’ve spent more time saying hello and asking how staff are than any of them have with me. Spa staff (after paying $150 to attended the Enclave daily) never even look up from the desk when we arrive to go in, it’s actually become quite amusing now as I’m being extra super friendly above what I normally am just to see if it makes them change their tune, no luck. They can barely look at us or say more than a grunt. Don’t expect to be served on deck either if you are in one of the deck spas. We jumped in one to watch the daily movie on the outdoor screen at night, we never got asked once whether we wanted a drink and when I flagged down two girls standing near by, they gave me the most horrible look as if I have bothered them. Do these staff even want to make any money for Princess anymore!? It seems when you want a drink no one cares, when you’re willing spend hundreds on drinks and have a good night/day, no one cares. The Captain & cruise director, who? Never seen them or felt engaged by either, unlike other ships where you often see them out and about ensuring passengers are enjoying themselves. In fact, all ‘management’ are hidden, good luck finding any of them. Room attendant is friendly enough when we pass him in the hall however, he’s cleaning skills are next to none. There are still items in the room left over from the previous guests such as an asthma puffer that was in the bathroom and is yet to be removed. Our used pool towels not removed or empty bottles. He also leaves the room in total darkness every night and just throws the chocolates on the bed and leaves them wherever they land. My parents have a different steward and apparently she is lovely though and does a great job. The culture with the staff on this ship is awful, I work in Customer Service myself so I’m very aware of the lack of standards which I can assure you start at the top and work their way down through the staff. The way the staff even carry themselves and stand shows the lack of care factor. I’m shocked managers don’t also see this but maybe they do and this is apparently acceptable? Entertainment/atmosphere: Another Major let down. Where is the atmosphere!? I’ve never been on such a dull cruise.. When we left Sydney harbour at 6:45 on a beautiful Australian summers evening the band played for 15 minutes before they were removed and the 7 o’clock outdoor movie began which completely cleared the deck. What a weird thing to do on the first evening of the cruise when passengers expect a sail away party. Being the first night of the cruise it really set the tone for what was ahead. The band have not been up on deck since! No matter how lovely the weather is, speaking of weather, so far we have been blessed with beautiful smooth sailing and lovely days so I’m not sure why there is nothing happening on deck during the days/nights other than the movie which probably gets about 10 people per viewing. I think one movie at night would be fine and more attention should be paid to entertaining guests by the pool with music etc. Most entertainment takes place in the Piazza, which is so weird. The Piazza has specialty restaurants and bars off it so if you’re trying to enjoy a nice meal or a classy drink, you’ll have to put up with the noise coming from the Piazza. But don’t worry, everything pretty much stops at 10pm. Don’t expect to be doing anything after that time, it’s all basically shut down. There is no night club on this ship for night owls or people looking to have a good late night dance on their holidays.. Ridiculous. There are so many people wondering around after 10pm unsure of what to do but not wanting to go to bed, but you basically have no other option. Tonight we arrived in Hobart on a special public holiday where there were fireworks we could see from the ship. The captain mentioned this during the day and do you think the ship still did anything special for the event? Nope, once the fireworks were done they shut everything down outside and everyone went back in. They even turned the big TV off. 10pm. This entertainment director needs to be fired! Food: I personally feel the standards have dropped for Princess. Menus are uninspiring and dishes made with no love. Desserts especially have been a big let down as they’re so boring and almost child like food. Jelly in the main dining room as one of the four desert options, the others being bread and butter pudding, ice cream or a lime tart. We were also not impressed with Chops Grill having had such a wonderful meal on our last Princess cruise (Golden Princess 2 years ago) we were looking forward to a high end feed. The food was average to poor along with the service. To be honest, a waste of $35 per person. I was asked how I wanted my steak, medium/rare and I received well done. Really, at a steak restaurant?. Room service menu is also the exact same menu they’ve had for 10+ years.. Apparently they can’t think of anything else. Breakfast in room is only continental, so don’t expect any eggs/bacon in bed. I also wanted to note that if you’re watching the late night movie under the stars that starts usually around 9:30 the grill and noodle bars on deck shut at 10pm sharp (NO EXCEPTIONS) so if you feel like a snack half way through the movie, too bad. Why wouldn’t you keep them open to match the movie running time? Ps: don’t expect drink service during the movie and don’t do what we did and sit in a spa to watch the movie. They won’t come over to you, you will have to get out to order drinks. Tender service: This is actually what compelled me to review this cruise. This was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. We had one tendered port on this cruise and that was at Port Arthur. What an absolute joke that whole experience was. It started off fine, tenders leaving the ship from around 7:30am, we decided to leave for shore around 11am which we thought was good as we didn’t have to wait to get on a tender, we got on one almost straight away, then from that moment the issues became clear. After leaving the ships side, we were still on the tender 1hr later waiting to dock at the shore! The trip to the shore itself took around 5-10 minutes however they were only docking one tender at a time at a dock that was also shared by other boats doing tours of the harbour from Port Arthur. We sat there in the water for an hour waiting to dock, there were 4 tenders at once doing as we were. When it was our turn to dock, we noticed the horrifically long line of guests waiting to get back on tenders to come back to the ship! I actually took photos which I have included below, the line must have been 300m long, we couldn’t see the end of it. It looked like an evacuation but no, it was just Princesses complete mismanagement of the situation docking one tender at a time for 3500 guests. We decided to not even get off the tender and take it straight back to the ship due to how hectic the situation looked. My parents were on the tender in front of us and waited as long as we did to dock, it also took their driver 6 attempts to dock their tender correctly. In perfectly calm and flat waters. They then got off the tender (not knowing they could stay on) and jumped straight back in the line to get a tender back to the ship as they were worried they would have to wait so long. It took them 1hr of waiting in line to get back on a tender. So all in all they spent nearly 3hrs to tender to shore and come straight back. We literally missed Port Arthur, because of how horrible the experience was. There was no apologies or acknowledgement of what was happening. No mention from any of the staff that the wait times had blown out, no mention from the captain when we departed Port Arthur at the end of the day, nothing. Not even a free apology from anyone... What on earth has happened to Princess Cruises? I guess I will leave my review there. As I said, I know the world isn’t perfect and I know that some people will just find anything to complain about but I am not that person. I consider myself an advocate of the cruise industry however, after this experience I am even questioning now whether I will ever cruise again. I know my parents will not, after such a positive first cruise with Princess, their second cruise has been a nightmare and I doubt they will return. We confronted the duty manager today at the Guest Services desk about our concerns and experience in a very polite and collected way and would you believe, he agreed with all criticisms and was not only shocked by some but was well aware of most as he himself has seen it with his own eyes but he had also had a number of complaints on this cruise. I wanted to leave this review because although I love cruising, I understand how big business works and as customers, we are not doing ourselves any favours by not exposing the negative truths! I feel too many cruise passengers just stay silent and put up with poor cruises and I think that is wrong. These cruises are not cheap, you are promised the world and yet they can blatantly fail to deliver, take your money, kick you off at the end and take on the next lot.. It’s just not right. I feel Princess, perhaps all of Carnival Cruise Corp to be honest have a new attitude of ‘Oh well, near enough is good enough..’ well we as paying guests should not accept that. We are spending big money on these cruises and we also have a choice as to whether we even cruise or not and I feel like we are being taken advantage of. Perhaps the cruise industry has gotten too big for its boots and has lost touch with reality? Well if this is the acceptable standard, I can assure them that there won’t be a cruise industry in the not too distant future as the younger set, the cruises of tomorrow will take their money elsewhere when they wish to holiday. I’m sorry for such a long and negative review but I felt compelled to share as this particular cruise on Majestic Princess has completely ruined my faith in cruising. Only 3 more sleeps and we can get off and go home! What a horrible mindset to be in whilst you’re on holiday. I’m so disappointed by this cruise that I actually feel upset that we even came and I feel stupid for wasting our money. Read Less

Family trip with father in law 82y old. We choose Tasmania as it was bit cooler and slower pace. Dad had so much fun that he was still up dancing at 10pm. So much for slower pace lol. The food was for everyone's tastes. Restaurants were great and nice serving size. Decor was Majestic, shows were top quality. Rooms were clean and had all that was needed, pillow was like sleeping on a cloud would hv liked to take it home. Aircon was little cold in our room and couldn't turn it off, could turn it down. We even could watch a few love boat series on tv. When arriving at a destination it was easy to walk off ship and do our own thing. Also did an exclusion and the organization was great well worth the trip. Spa was friendly and helpful, there training was excellent. Great experience and many fantastic memories thank you princess cruises. Read Less

…..BUT COULD DO BETTER. Most of the usual PRINCESS pluses were apparent. Great entertainment, hard working cabin, food and wait staff. A decor not as over the top as some competitors. Lower booze prices and the chance to bring on-board 329 2 free bottles of wine + pay corkage on more. This particular ship is one of the bigger cruise boats out of Australia but had no shortage of bars, lounges etc At no time did I find areas overcrowded – the usual lack of sun-lounges on the pool deck didn’t eventuate. I thought its 3 storey PIAZZA area was way more sensible than the towering atriums found on some competitors. Many bars and restaurants were on the 3 levels and usually some entertainment at base level. The adults only HOLLYWOOD area was brilliant. Ship seemed to have many special interest areas - lotsa table tennis areas, a golf driving area, karaoke rooms etc. But certain things were not all that great: - carpets faded and marked - maybe a shortage of workout machines in the gym, although the number of walkers, X-trainers and bikes very good. - tender operations off DRAVUNI and SABUSABU hopelessly disorganised and chaotic. - only one security scanner on return to ship led to huge lines of people waiting to re-board (in the hot sun AT LAUTOKA.. - hopeless wine bottle corkage payment system on Sydney departure - only one guy manning table saw a 15 minute wait. - often no cooked tomatoes at buffet breakfasts (I thought them a breakfast staple). Sometimes no tomatoes of any kind. Often no french fries at buffet (another staple?) No ice-cream at buffet dinners although soft serve available just out the door on pool deck. Note however that I thought the range and quality of buffet food overall was very good. - some structural issues: cabin door needed slamming on exit (not great for neighbours when going on the 6am coffee run: cabin door hard to latch from inside: banging in the roof cavity above the life jacket area in rough seas: cabin aircon variable. Some of these failings are systems bases and will hopefully be fixed with more experience. Others are structural which should be addressed at the upcoming first (warranty – this ship was launched in 2017) refurbishment at the end of the Australian summer season. - an oily slick extending from the side noticed at anchorage in the DARVUNII LAGOON. Looked to light for bunker oil. TIPS – don’t miss any lectures put on by PRINCESS staff. The navigation and engineering talk was to a full auditorium (hats off to PRINCESS – on this ship the main theater seemed way big enough) and the cooking lesson from the head chef and maitre d was both informative and humorous (this was followed by a free quick tour of the galley – must have had a line of 1000 people). - if you miss a pm performance in the theater be aware they are often repeated as a matinee next day. - the second pool on the pool deck is a very small sauna-sized deep bit surrounded by a spacious area abt 2 inches deep. Latter ideal for non swimming kids and parents wanting to sun/stay cool and keep an eye on offspring. Kids will also like the circular splash deck nearby. - if you enjoy serenity, head to the adults only HOLLYWOOD pool and lounge area up top forward. Although underover, not chloriney smelly {treatment and pool water is that easier on the eye salty stuff). The lounge area just forward has great 17th level views over the bow. Read Less

I chose the cruise for the port of calls and being a new Ship. What I found was this cruise is for the over 70's and disabled .Many of the crew members were enjoying guest services.the older people were hogging all the facilities and were a pain to walk past or get a seat anywhere. Food and entertainment is repetitive and boring, everytime I went to eat I felt like being in a hospital. The shuttle service to shore is packed before it leaves the ship and is extremely hot. On port days staff have no idea where people should go and NOT go. staff were overworked and seemed not to care. no decent music or shows to mention, only violin and piano everynight. There is DJ who is as boring as the music she plays. There is live band which makes a joke of any song they play. Female staff are dressed up to bring some glamour. Smoking faciltities are aweful. I would not recommend this ship to anyone under 50. Only highlight was the port of calls and the staff in the bars and children and youth program. Read Less

Entertainment Staff appear to go through the motions and do the minimum that is required. i think i spotted the cruise director once off stage, that was when he was recording in his private studio (Live) That was a joke Ship entertainment is equal to a Thai karaoke bar. There is no specific late night club, the ship is well equipped but badly used. The Pacific is a beautiful area we do not need to visit the rectum of the pacific. Please do not visit container ports, we are not goods for trade, i know you like to think of us so Rear cabin balconies are fouled by soot from burning cheap low grade fuel. The timing was ideal and we hadn't previously been to a number of the ports of call covered by this cruise We had previously done one Princess cruise and had heard some very good reports about Princess from friends. Overall the cruise represented very good value for money. The Majestic Princess is a very nice, comfortable ship. Given the number of passengers on board, most areas of the ship do not appear crowded. The Crew/Staff were in almost all occasions friendly and helpful. The embarkation and disembarkation process was quick and efficient - I can't recall a ship where this process was done better. Getting on and back on the ship at the ports of call was also handled very efficiently. The Majestic Princess also handled the tender process brilliantly. The three ports that required the use of tender craft/water transfer to the pier proved to be a very smooth operation. I have never encountered a tender process as smooth as this on any cruise ship. The only disappointment was the food in the Dining Rooms and Buffet which, on most days, fell short of my expectations. The fact that you are able to take wine on board (after paying a corkage charge) is a real bonus. Well done Majestic Princess Read Less

Service has dropped considerably. After 3 cruises with Princess cruises we are now considering other cruises companies not connected with Princess or Carnival. No happy hour. This gave us an opportunity to meet new people and enjoy our cruise. Over priced Princess excursions. We and just about everyone we speak to will not consider booking on shore excursions with Princess when then the are around four times the price. Majorly over priced Soda package. It has doubled in the last couple of years. However we have reduced our expenditure by buying less soda packages. Staff not knowing ingredients of cocktail menu. Some have no idea. Slow service all round. Like four small orange juices instead of one large. Over priced wine. Half the price by bringing your own and paying corkage. Stupid cruise ship policies. The majority of people I spoke to are not happy with Princess Cruises. From where I’m sitting this is costing you the company big time. Read Less

This was our first Princess cruise and having sailed on Celebrity many times it was a lovely surprise. The ship is only a few years old and well looked after, everything sparkled. We loved the fact that everything onboard was in AUD$ and reasonably priced, e.g. the coffee card ($36 for 15 speciality coffees), the drinks, the shops. Princess entertainment is first class, the Production shows are a visual delight and the guest entertainers were good. Our favourite was The Voice of the Ocean, such a professional show. Our Cruise Director was a fun guy who made our trip and there was always something happening, activities all day/night long so no time to be bored. The weather was glorious with only a couple of rain showers so no ports were spolit. We had never been to Fiji and the 4 ports of call gave us a good look. The Buffet restaurant was OK although not our favourite place to eat as it was always packed with people rushing around bumping into you. The Symphony dining room was our favourite with every meal of high quality and always hot. Alfredos Pizza makes a nice change for lunch or dinner and its no extra charge. We will definitely sail with Princess again, excellent service, wide variety of things to do and great food. Read Less

We wanted to try out the new Majestic Princess and it went further than we had travelled from Australia so very appropriate choice and exciting for my husband and I. The ship is well organised and caters for all ages and cultures both in their activities and food choices. We chose a Mini-suite and had an outstanding cabin stewardess who looked after us well. In fact, she went over and above her role and we were impressed at her efficiency. The Dining rooms were well serviced, quick and efficient, friendly and entertaining. We were impressed by how the activities were based around different cultures including Australia Day and Chinese New Year. The service in all areas was efficient and helpful. Most of the Ports and Shore excursions were enjoyable and well organised. We enjoyed the more traditional cultural villages and ceremonies. Loved interacting with the children in their uniforms at schools. Read Less

We figured we'd probably never fly to Vanuatu or Fiji so why not try cruising. This South Pacific 14 day cruise offer popped into our inbox and we signed up - no consideration for the ship or the time of year - but it turned out to be a great decision. We had such a good time! The Majestic Princess is a very big ship but we never felt crowded. It did take us a while to find our way around but all that walking helped work off the extra food we ate. It was a largely older group of people on board, but there were families and quite a few children too - a nice mix. Embarkation in Sydney took quite a long time but was well organized. Once on board we found our balcony stateroom and met our steward (the lovely Sherill, a real gem). One of our suitcases was damaged in transit to our room but I spoke to the Guest Services desk and the suitcase was fixed (totally new handle) by the following day. My only gripe would be that there is a lot to do on board but much of it is aimed at getting you to buy something. I'm sure this is only news to newbies like us. We thoroughly enjoyed the shows (get there about 30 minutes early to get a seat) and made the most of the Movies under the Stars - whoever selects the movies does a great job (new releases - some not yet released in cinemas in Australia). Trivia was fun, we also tried Bingo once. The virtual tours of the bridge and engine room, and the cooking demonstration and galley tour were highlights for us. The fitness centre was great, though a bit warm at times. The weather was perfect so we made good use of the pools too. The Hollywood Pool Club (adults only) was, obviously, a little quieter than the fountain pools and you could find a nice spot to relax and read without getting too much sun. We had Anytime dining but also ate at the World Fresh Marketplace, Alfredos, the International Cafe and Crown Grill. We found the food to be of a consistently good standard across all venues. I really liked the Noodle Bar and regularly had the wonton noodle soup for lunch on sea days. The port visits were amazing. We did a couple of tours through the ship and two independent tours. The tenders were always very well organized. Noumea - we did the Amedee Lighthouse Island tour. Would thoroughly recommend. A great day snorkelling with the turtles. Saw sea snakes. Delicious lunch. Great dancing and demonstrations. Walked to the top of the lighthouse for a magnificent view. Lifou - no tour. Another gripe - the ship didn't tell anyone about having to buy passes to Jinek Bay on board, so there were a lot of people turned away when they couldn't get access. Beautiful island with lots of photo ops. Good swimming. Nice walk to the church on top of the hill. Would have been better if we could snorkel at Jinek Bay. Port Vila - probably our favourite day. Did a tour through Vila Hope Tours - visited Rarru Falls, the Blue Lagoon, Hideaway Island, the Tanna Coffee Factory and duty free shopping in town. Our tour guide William was charming - informative and funny. Dravuni Island - stunningly beautiful but tiny island. Walked and swam and relaxed. Suva - Jewel of Fiji tour through Viator tours. Amazing day - long boat ride up the Navua river through the rapids, swam in a waterfall, bamboo raft down the rapids and lunch, dancing, kava ceremony, local arts and coconut demonstrations in a beautiful village. Wonderful guide - Malachai. Savusavu - so hot and humid. Pretty place. Walked around town and had a beer in the pub. Latouka - we did the Oolala cruise to Savala Island tour through the ship. What a day! Fun boat trip to and from the tiny island - served homemade pineapple and banana cake and a singalong with the Oolala team. Perfect weather - we swam with the baby reef sharks, snorkelled on the reef, kayaked, took a glass bottom boat tour to feed the fish and ate a BBQ lunch. Everyone was in high spirits - singing along on the way back to the ship. Great end to a wonderful last port day. We had nothing to compare it to but we loved this cruise. We felt very well looked after - it was relaxing but exciting too. If you've never cruised but are curious, just give it a try. You won't regret it. Read Less

Chose this cruise as part of a move over offer. We had cruised previously on the Majestic Princess in March 2019. Cruise itinerary looked interesting although this time of the year temperatures 30C plus did not encourage us to take up any shore excursions. Prefer traditional dining but allocated anytime dining due to late booking. Required to make a booking daily to guarantee a table and time although after first few days you could roll up and get a table with minimal delay. Food and service very good albeit little change from March previous. Enjoyed a meal at the crown grill however less impressed with Harmony restaurant and avoided La Mer bistro (no privacy walk through thoroughfare) Alberto's pizzaria and noodle bar for lunch worth a visit. Private dinner on the balcony was excellent and well worth the $125 cost per couple. The party band evolution were excellent and first production show "Fantastic Journey' was also outstanding. Overall the standard of entertainment was higher this cruise than in March previous. Read Less

We have cruised Princess several times . looking forward to Majestic but have to rate it around a 3 out of 5. Layout seems to be a bit disjointed ! ie seems whereever there was a small area with nothing in they just plonked something there - ie small bar area. - another internet area - there are 2 of these 1 has 2 terminals and a very very small selection of books(ie library) and the other from memory has 4 or 5 - not many considering the size of the ship. The market place buffet was very confusing - long and segregated sections - if you wanted sweets/'desserts you had to walk ALL the way back to nearly the beginning - older style layout is much much better for the amount of people. cabin fabulous L108. entertainment was average but production shows as usual were great. Pizza area was downstairs and was a restaurant - would have loved this upstairs on pool deck. Service was really just on what was expected - nothing exceptional here. First time I was worried about my safety in PORT VILA - seems they are so desperate for the cruise work they have no consideration for the passengers when trying to get out the gate on the wharf - security and police had to forceably push them back to allow the passengers to even get out the gate. This is a worry and have sent an email to Port Vila as a complaint. Read Less

We sailed on the majestic princess to New Caledonia, Vanuatu and Fiji from Sydney. Embarkation was smooth, super quick and easy. Best we have seen yet. The ship itself is amazing, so so big. Are room wasn’t ready yet but that was alright, we went and purchased our drink packages and headed to lunch in the marketplace, the marketplace was a bit crazy and hard to find a seat for the first probably 2 days, after that people seem to eat at different times or used a lot of the other options available, eg: burgers, pizza, other restaurants, as it seem to settle down after a couple of days and we had no problems finding a seat. After lunch we explored the ship, how amazing this ship is. My favourite place where I spent a lot of time during the 14 night cruise was the hollywood club. Cool and peaceful (no children aloud in this area). We finally went to check out our room which was a balcony room, midship on the 15th floor (marina deck) amazing views from here. Although small ( compared to the mini suite we had last time) it was all that we needed and made ourselves at home for the next 2 weeks. Emergency training conducted and we were off to the sail away party. We were at sea for the first 2 days and this is where we first became disappointed with the activities/ entertainment staff. I thought at first that maybe we had just been super lucky on our first 2 cruises to get amazing entertainment teams that were funny and well ENTERTAINING, that made you want to go to everything on offer as you knew you were going to have a great time and come away laughing as you never knew what they were going to get up to. But as the cruise went on and the more we spoke to other guest we soon realised that NO it wasn’t just as, The entertainment team on this cruise were not as good as on other ships, (No I shouldn’t say not as good, as at times they could be funny and entertaining) but I really don’t know how to explain it, we and others were just really disappointed with what was on offer and things that you did go to were just ok. As I heard one guest say, we (the guests) have to provide our own entertainment on this cruise. Not good enough for the money we pay. Other then that we still had a great time, other entertainment such as the performances in the theatre, and the musicians in the piazza were excellent. The destinations we visited were amazing and well worth the visit. The tenders on this ship are new, spacious and much easier to get on and off. Housekeeping as per usual - amazing, these people do not get paid enough for what they do, our steward Eric, couldn’t do enough for us. I paid to have access to the enclave in the lotus spa everyday. How amazing is this place, well worth the money - TIP - buy the package on the first day when they are doing the tours through the spa, you get it cheaper. Getting back to the entertainment, 2 things we did look forward to and I did hear other guest say the same thing was the Australia Day party, fantastic idea but why would you have it at 9:45 at night after people have been on shore all day. I would of loved to go but after a full on shore excursion that day I was exhausted as I’m sure other were too. Then came the Latin dance party, another great idea, again late at night, for what reason I do not know. This one I did stay up for, it started, the professional dancers and singers from princess came out to perform, performed one song, it started to rain so they went off. Now fair enough I wouldn’t want to see them get hurt, however it rained for a couple of minutes and then it was alright for the guests to get up and dance on the dance floor so why couldn’t the others come back and finish there performance. A lot of disappointed people soon went back to there rooms or on to other things. Finally the time came to disembark back in Sydney, I know it sounds like I didn’t have the best time on this cruise but I still absolutely had a great time just a little disappointed. I still as always never want to get off, I could so live on a cruiseship and have often dreamt of working on one (maybe one day I will ). Disembarkation was just as easy and smooth as embarkation and we headed off to our hotel just down the road for a few days site seeing in Sydney. I watched the ship sail away again that night wishing I was still on there. Read Less

This is our 5th cruise with Princess, we have had good luck in the past. BUT this ship was way to big, too many people and the service was not as good. The new arrangement with most public places open to the atrium is awful. Could not sit at the wine bar or any bar for that matter and have a conversation due to the loud noise coming from the atrium. LeMer was a fabulous restaurant but you better get there before 7pm or you won't be able to hear to order your dinner. If this had been our first cruise with Princess we would probably not go back. Some staff were good and some just did not seem to care. We had better entertainment on our last cruise, they did not have enough comedians, etc.. Lots of kids but all in all they were very well behaved. We only went to the buffet once and saw the kids picking through the food and that was enough not to go back. We had a mini suite which was actually larger than on their other ships. Loved New Zealand and would love to go back but not on Princess. Read Less

And all others that play an equal part in such a monstrous project such as a floating city. Also to every single punter and patron on board that ship. I’ll start by saying that we had not planned on ever cruising with Princess again after our last cruise with them (Crown Princess, British Isles 2019). The Crown was a mess and after 10 cruises with Princess we could not believe what had happened with this cruise line. We had previously booked the Majestic (prior to the Crown Princess fiasco) and against our better judgement decided that 9 out of 10 great cruises with Princess was worth one shot at redemption. Majestic succeeded! Pros: -Embarkation and Debarkation in Sydney was very fast and professional.....as good as it gets. -Loved the ship layout and decor. Ship is a few years old and still looks pristine for the most part. -We signed up for the Lotus Spa Enclave ($279 AU/couple unlimited).....fantastic! -Variety of entertainment. For the shows in the Princess Theater get there early. Crooners bar was a favorite of ours. -Crown Grill. Went twice and had great service and meals. -Had a standard balcony on the 15th floor. Seemed to have a little more room in the bathroom compared to other Princess ships. Cabin steward was great as usual. -Staff, very pleasant and helpful Read Less

Another thing that we liked and we used every day was the availability of the latest movies and shows at no extra charge in your stateroom this was a great treat. We found the staff and crew to be very friendly and always there to help if you required it.. We did try the Market Place (Food) area out many times and if you held out till say 7:00 pm to eat there was never any problems in getting a seat and that time suited us better anyway, there was always plenty on food and choices to choose.
