We’ve done a few cruises with other liners and they were so much better than the Princess if you are between 70 - 90 yrs old, then this slow paced ship is designed for you it was boring. The same program almost every day. The constant pushing and harassment to get you to buy on board all the very overpriced things suggesting markdowns, discounts, buy buy buy! The staff are friendly enough, it’s not their fault, it’s the sales pitch their forced to do. Raffles to win was one way to get you in. There were many ‘evemts’ Daily, enticed to get you to buy more! This never happened on the other cruises. The food was also boring. No variety. I’ve been on a few cruises and this one has to be the worst when it comes to selection or choices. If you want lactose free milk, you had to ask for it especially. It was never an option next to the breakfasts where it should be. There were no lactose free cheese, yoghurt or ice cream. Yeti when we booked we were given the option to select food requirements and this was suggested that it was already a part of their every day food choices! I received an email stating that lactose free will be available. For gluten free needs, there was one little section with the same food in it daily! I’m not gluten free but would hate to be as 8 know someone with coeliacs disease and she gets very sick if she eats gluten! So having such very little food options would be a dreadfully long cruise with the boring selections! It reawas very disappointing. I’m never a complainer with anything and will always make do with what we have but this really needed to be mentioned! The movies by the stars, was a huge screen at the end of an open deck pool area. So you can imagine how noisy it was! You couldn’t watch a movie at all during the day as you couldn’t hear it, it was just noise in the background over people talking loudly or kids in the pool. The evening movies were better but you had to fight to get a good spot to see it clearly as most of the deck chairs were on the level of the pool and they had this fountain in the middle (which was never used except for special events!) and you had to battle to see through rails, bars, decorative trees and so on. So it was really poorly designed to see around it. The best seats were near the smokers deck and we had to put up with inhaling their second hand smoke or sit somewhere we couldn’t see the screen well! The theatre where we had most of the main entrainment held, was badly designed. If weren’t lined up an hour early, you were either unlucky to get a seat at all, or got one of the crappy seats on the front several rows to either side which you couldn’t see the show anyway! That’s when the seats were not broken! For a new ship, I really felt there was so much poor design of the layout. Other than all of this, I did find that most of the staff were wonderful! Read Less

After cruising for many years with Princess my partner and I were disappointed with the lay out of this ship, their seemed to be not enough staff for the amount of passengers on board, most places we visited on board did not have enough seating, the ship was designed the Chinees market and it shows with the conversions of the public such as the vista lounge once part of the casino and another now bar also was the high rollers as you will see by the amount of surveillance cameras in the rooms, far to much Chinees writing hard to know were you are in the lift with the English/Chinese writing, we had the opportunity to have dinner in the French restaurant the food and service was good, the location of this restaurant was not good in a walk way I sat looking at a till, was told they were booked out so had to eat at 18:30! this was not the case only two couples in when we arrived, the walk way running along side was very busy and noisy, would not recommend this ship. First impression entering the Piazza, was wow. Very impressive. But the biggest thing that lets it down is the layout. The Market place is so confusing, it’s set out in 2 sections a bistro and buffet. To get your food you have to negotiate .different areas. For example I wanted toasted Banana bread, I went to the counter with the Banana bread, then had to take it to another area to get it toasted then again to get butter. The Market place seating is divided by many screens, it feels a bit closed in. The Princess theatre is a good size but entering and exiting is a problem as the aisles are one person wide, which causes big problems with everyone trying to leave. The future cruise desk and captains circle club are in the same very small room, with only one staff member looking after each area. Causes major cuing. For a ship with 3500 passengers you would think they would have more room and more staff to handle the volume. Our cabin was excellent, we had a Club class mini suite, very big, plenty of room to sit, or eat a meal, very good and big balcony with table chairs and sun lounges. Embarkation and disembarkation was very good, very well organised. The entertainment was good with the imported artist, but the Princess entertainment was the same as any other ship. If you been on a few Princess cruises no need to go and see them. The crew where mainly very good, but there was a lot of Chinese crew that did not seem to want to serve anyone except Chinese passengers. I asked to use the Karaoke room and was told it was only for the Asian cruise, by one Chinese crew member, then told to go and see, the Internet cafe person, then told to see Customer services, who are the ones I saw first so I didn’t bother. I would not go on the Majestic Princess if there was an alternative ship. Read Less

New ship and very very big. Great ship...Ports of call were interesting, should have been longer at Singapore and Vietnam, so much to see and do. Food menu was very disappointing in the Lido bar. Very repetitive and boring. Disappointed with photo deals....no package offered...only digital copies promoted....not good! Ping pong tables were unsuitably positioned, in the wind rain and heat....should have been indoors. Gym was good, did not feel uncomfortable. Overall entertainment in Princess Theatre was good but not great, could have been better. Enjoyed the music and entertainment by the band Opus. Line dancing Flash mob Choir and yukelele was great. Balloon drop and staff entertainment was enjoyable. Loved The Majestic Princess overall. Looking forward to next cruise with Princess, already paid future cruise deposit in anticipation of a great holiday in 2020/2021. Hope my review will contribute to better changes in the future for all passengers concerned. Read Less

A lovely ship with so much to explore. Dining rooms are lovely as is the adults only Hollywood retreat. Its a Easy ship to get around if you are a seasoned princess cruiser. Excellent entertainment from the comedy show to soul music show. The big screen for movies etc is hugh and provides a great backdrop against the sky . The rooms are very comfortable and spacious for a interior room. The marketplace food area is good but lacks tea and cofffee making stations they need more of these as on the other princess ships . There is plenty of seating in and out of the ship but missed the deck 7 promodene deck for walking but being only a 2 day cruise would need to explore more options on a longer cruise. Only problems were lack of seating in Vista lounge for triva and the lack of dress code standards in mdr some people allowed in with shorts and t shirts not a good look. Read Less

This was a CruiseTour which included a 6 night land tour of Australia which included the Great Barrier Reef. Also included a 2 night stay at Ayers Rock which was a little long compared to what was there to see and the hotel accommodations were pretty rural. But the tour of Sydney prior to boarding the ship was excellent. The New Zealand portion of the cruise was excellent, beautiful scenery throughout and shore excursions were excellent. As I have trouble walking, we only do the easy excursions so we see a lot of scenery and drives around the town. Lot of good information, Getting on and off the ship in Sydney is extremely easy, well organized. As far at the ship itself, this is not a ship designed for cruising from US ports. This ship is designed for the Asian traveler as there are a reduced number of bars (areas are converted to gambling and mah jong halls. There is no pizza other than in Alfredo's which is a good pasta/pizza sit down space (no addtl charge) but the noodle bar poolside was good. We did Club Class dining and the service was fantastic. The food selections were not as they have been in the past, however with Club Class dining, you get one additional choice that is prepared in the eating area. Won't go back to regular anytime dining again when traveling on Princess. Hate the wait in lines to get a table. Only did the buffet on the lido deck once. The selection of food was mostly Asian type and layout was difficult to get around. All in all it was a good cruise, but it is long and if you are coming from the states, the time change affects you more than you realize. Read Less

This is my 4 th cruise with princess and was excited for this one being there biggest ship but found the layout of the ship difficult to get my head around I had been on the royal princess a couple of years ago and no doubt in my mind the better ship . I also felt hygeine standards had slipped with often no staff member on guard or sanitiser available just a sink hand washing area and often soap had run out , consequently sickness was rampant through the ship and of course I got it and have been sick now for 12 days and ongoing visits to doctor , carry your own sanitiser. The staff work long hours and try there best and are very polite but often cannot speak English very well so sometimes it’s hard to get your order correct the first time. The food of course is in abundance most of it excellent standard and a great vareity. If I sail again with princess it would be on the Royal for sure. The inside cabins are small and aircon seems to be switched off at night which makes the room stuffy, would recommend a room with an opening window. Getting on and off the ship was easy very well organised, entertainment was first class ,the shows were amazing , room service was excellent but if you order a pot of tea be sure to ask for milk also.happy sailing Read Less

Wanted to see New Zealand. Cruise tours were limited. No real wine tours if that is what you are interested in. Loved the Fjords. Cities were interesting . Missed a port due to fog-Port Chalmers. NZ is a beautiful if hilly country. Weather was exceptionally good except for one day of fog. Tasmania was a pleasant surprise with a visit to a animal rescue sanctuary. Able to get up close and personal with many kangaroos. For a new ship the cabin looked a little worn and the food quality has definitely declined. It used to be so good now the quality is suffering. The beef options were in the main tough unless you ordered from the Steakhouse menu. Vegetables were wet or mushy. We used anytime dining and did go to the Noodle bar, the cafe, and the pizza restaurant which were all good. I always enjoy the music in the atrium. Good selection of artists and easy to get drinks and food nearby. Did not go to any shows but enjoyed the art auctions and did purchase some art Read Less

The cruise was very disappointing. The entertainment was directed at the older passengers and nothing really available if under 60. No theme night, no white wine onboard as the ship is heading to Asia so they used what was onboard. Outbreak of respiratory condition onboard no extra precautions brought out until the last afternoon when it was too late. Toilet blocked in cabin x 5 times. Very big ship not easy to navigate around. Too many people and it had lost the special princess touch. The majority of the crew hardly smiled, they appeared to be tired of their jobs. I had not been on a cruise for six years and was so excited about the upcoming cruise unfortunately I don’t feel that I will ever do another one following this experience. A lot of passengers on this cruise were very dissapointed and it was a shame as everyone looks forward to the feeling that princess cruises promote “Coming back new” but unfortunately this cruise fell very short of that feeling. Overall very dissapointed Read Less

While we thoroughly enjoyed our cruise on the Regal in the Baltic, and the Royal in the Mediterranean, the addition of an enclosed conservatory on the Majestic, with full length floor to ceiling windows, allowed us to enjoy this trip even more. New Zealand, especially in Milford Sound can be very cold, even in March, and being able to enjoy the views from the warm conservatory, was a highlight. It is an adults only area, and is a quiet space to read, or play board games, as well as relax on comfy sofas or swim in the undercover pool. We were blessed with good weather, so were able to enter all the ports and enjoy all the excursions of some unique destinations. We enjoyed traditional dining, as well as the noodle bar (yummy broth soups), international cafe, buffets, Crown Grill, Le Mer (french). All meals were of a high standard. The service was impeccable, and the staff could not do enough to ensure we were well looked after. Even finding us at the back of the Lido deck, watching a movie, and going off to find some blankets for us, in case it became cool during the evening. We thought out obstructed view deluxe balcony stateroom might not compare to our previous mini suites, but it was very roomy, with a sofa and a balcony and the obstruction was only partial. Housekeeping staff were friendly and efficient, which makes all the difference when living in a small space for 2 weeks, to come back to a tidy and clean space. Sydney is a busy place to embark, due to limited space, but it didn't take very long to go through passport/security. Our accommodation, booked through Princess, was very nice, and in a great location for sightseeing, in the Rocks/Circular Quay. It was super nice having the Princess Team pick us up from the airport. Highly recommended. The Majestic is a very large ship, so my only recommendation to those intending to travel on it, is to do your research and read the daily newsletter, to keep on top of the many options available for being entertained. It would be easy to miss some outstanding talent/activities. The Princess Theater Shows were of a very high standard, and it was worth getting to the theater a little early to ensure a seat. The dance party nights (Beatles and Abba) were fabulous fun. Even those using walkers made sure they got up to dance and wiggle the night away. There are many choices for excursions. We loved the sheep farm visit/Christchurch, Speights Brewery in Dunedin, Napiers fertile fruit/wine growing tours, Wellington wharf and Cable car ride/museum, Auckland for shopping, Mt Manganui itself is beautiful, if you don't want to go to Rotorua, Bay of Islands /Waitangi Treaty grounds visit was exceptional, as we had a Maori guide. The Museum there is also a knockout if you like history, Read Less
