I am giving a review more of the ship than the cruise. We had a four night cruise leaving Southampton to Rotterdam. We also knew this was a tester cruise and certain thing might not be working etc so we did travel knowing these things. All in all I would say things where plenty good enough, the water show wasn't ready but apart from that nothing to moan about really as things like workmen being here and there doing final fixing etc was expected. I have to say well done as always to the ease of embarkation to the ship, I was worried that a ship of this size would struggle but it was a doddle, in fact it was so good it makes you think how fantastic was that. Our room was a balcony cabin (8678) which was once again what you come to expect from RC and that is lovely, I would have preferred the bed near the window rather than when you walk in but that's a bit of a nothing. Lovely delightful cabin staff as again what seems to be the norm with RC. Now everything here sounds perfect and yet I have given a 3 star (average rating) This is due to lots of things that I found where just not as good on this ship as others. Having to book for shows made things more awkward, having to book the specialty restaurants the same again. The fact johnny rockets the bars almost everywhere was a case of get in the que. Certain places like guest lobby we waited over 30 minutes to get served. And maybe the worst one was the Diamond club, this was simply a waste of time even trying to get a drink never mind a seat. I cannot exactly put my finger on it but if I was booking a full 7day plus holiday as I will be doing I would try my hardest to avoid Harmony and go on a smaller class of ship. I went on the Allure of the seas last year and even though that is almost as big I found that much better. I should say the holiday overall was fantastic and worth every penny, I should also say the Ice Show and Grease where as good if not better than any west end show. I actually think as I sit here I should give 4 stars but I am going to stick with 3 as that's overall what I felt. I would say try the Harmony for yourselves, I feel this will be a good ship for family's and kids etc. I won't review the 4 restaurants we ate at but again I felt these where all very average but the service as Wonderland was dreadful. Worst week ever You should re name this ship waiting of the seas because that's what you will be doing. First night American grill one and a half hours before a starter arrives took over three and a half hours for our first evening meal.new York strip should be call sole of your shoe, Second night Chops grill which you pay for Reservation booked for 8pm Shown to our table at ten to 9pm Sat until 10.30 then walked out with no meal (shocking) Windjammer should be re named Jammer as its so small you will not find a table. Only 2 small bars in the main pool deck they can't cope. You will struggle to find a seat in any public area. If you happen to smoke forget it 4 tables deck 15 or casino 4 tables The service is dreadful. It's all about maximising profit Crammed in then extract as much money from them. Book again not even if it was free now at Southampton and can not wait to get of. I must say last night in the dining room the head waiter Milan went above his title and done everything to make it a pleasant night top marks for him shame there aren't many more staff like him.guest services was a joke lines that went on for ever air con stuck on full in cabin would not have been bad if we was somewhere hot cabin boy said he would get me a blanket maintenece workers all over,Aqua thearte and many other things not in use top deck is rammed with sun beds no tables anymore outside windjammer.no sope in some of the public toilets, large bins in the cubicle of the toilet as there was no sanatary ones in place dining room is so squashed the poor staff cannot get between tables as your chairs are touching the next tables. I would not recommend this ship to anyone in fact it has put me of cruising with rrc again Read Less

We thought we would try this taster cruise, have not travelled on Royal Caribbean before, but have on P&O, Cunard, Fred Olsen and Saga. Very quick to board using on - line sea pass. A beautiful ship, a work of art. Some work was still going on around the ship, but most places were operational. But ....... we were glad it was only 4 days as we would not go back on this ship. We found that compared to the P&O Azura there were not enough shows for us. It caters mainly for families I would say .For which the facilities looked excellent. The theatre was lovely, and Grease excellent, but Azura has 3 main venues. The drinks prices were very dear, plus 18% added. If you liked walking around and drinking it was great. In our opinion it was not a proper cruise ship, such as Cunard. It was brash and noisy, Butlins afloat !! The food was good in the main restaurants, breakfast was a nightmare in Windjammers, worst we've seen. Also no midnight buffet on this ship !! Just a small pizza bar with a long queue ! All in all there was a wide age range, but if you want refinement and a stylish cruise I don.t think this is it. Its a seaside resort on sea. Read Less

A totally un-pleasant experience, ship was not fit for paying passengers, workmen were everywhere, drilling, welding, floors being prepared and repaired, cables everywhere, ladders everywhere, there seemed no area on board that was not receiving some sort of work, hot tubs not working, childrens water area not working, aqua theatre not finished, ceilings being fitted, we had one crew member tell us we were guinea pigs for proper passengers, we brought this cruise sold as a maiden voyage back in Sept 2015 only to be told the real maiden voyage is from Spain on 29th May. We were totally miss sold this trip, if it had been appropriately priced and we had been aware it was a shakedown cruise then we would have known what to expect, but we paid full price for this and were told by passenger services on board we could have 20% off our next booking, we have no intention of ever booking another Royal Caribbean cruise, we will be sticking to the more professional P+O. A complete waste of money and valuable holiday time, if you want to holiday aboard a floating shopping center, save money and book into a cheap hotel near a large shopping complex and visit each day for the duration of your holiday. We were used as guinea pigs!!!! This ship was NOT ready to take on passengers but did anyway. Toilets in staterooms often did not flush - reported - fixed (eventually). Basin water very tepid - reported - fixed (after a while). No orange juice in buffet for breakfast - when reported was told they had none on the ship!!!! - then it miracously appeared on the third day. Aqua show not ready and won't be for a while yet!!!! Saw a show with two comedians in the "Attic venue" - literally on for a total of thirty five minutes between them (not each) - the venue was far too small for the amount of guests onboard. ALL SHOWS had to be pre-booked - something that has NEVER happened on other cruises we have been on. Food in the buffet was not varied enough (choice I mean) and most of the time was tepid. The only good point on this ship was the food in the restaurants was very good, which we used on the last two days. There was a film channel on the TV but no guide or information as to when and what was on - I contacted the broadcast manager (well tried to on several occasions - he was elusive), but through guest services was told it was on a playlist with an eighteen hour turnaround - she said "the film you want to see should be on TV around 7pm" - so we rushed our dinner in the restaurant - just had the main course - and guess what? - went back to our stateroom and it NEVER appeared. Just another gliche. I asked about the 3D movies that were supposed to be shown - where I asked? I was told it would be in the theatre but guess what - NOT ready for this cruise!!!! My list is endless - along with MOST of the passengers on this cruise that should never have happened - there were people telling me that if they were offered a flight home from Rotterdam - they would take it - they just wanted to get off the ship - myself and my husband agreed. I spent most of the time on the phone talking to guest services about one complaint after another - stressed out - this did not help my high blood pressure at all. Read Less

An awful experience. The ship was not ready to set sail. Construction workers were still on board and even worked during the night ( noise ). A lot of the advertised attractions were not open and pool playing areas roped off. Breakfast was served cold and when exchanged, was cold again. Our TV was not even configured to work and was not resolved until the day before we disembarked. Paid for a premium restaurant package, only to be told that no reservations were available. After visiting these restaurants in person, we were able to book two of them. So bad communication there. I must say however, that the food and the staff in Jamie's Italian and The Chops Grille were amazing. A customer service assistant advised us that the journey had been an absolute disaster. Even she tried to contact the maintenance department for us twice, but nobody answered. Shameful. Read Less

Wanted to explore and investigate this new ship. Cruisers with over 30 cruises . Mainly cruise Celebrity. We were prepared to be underwhelmed and we were preoared for there to be some snag type problems on board. In fact we were disappointed and upset at the degree of the unfinished state and the generally poor service on board. We sailed in the owners suite which was very nice but on deck 14 and from 6am in the morning until gone 1am at night we were treated to the sound of loud grinding which only stopped after angry requests to guest relations. Luggage to room was delivered after 8 pm after an 11am boarding and was only located after many complaints. Suites lounge messy , unkempt and definitely not maintained. Coastal kitchen fully booked by others before we boarded. Service generally poor and food mediocre. Many facilities onboard cordoned and closed. Other facilities not fully functional. Muster assembly a joke. Instructors did not even know how to put on a life jacket. After that impressive demonstration of ineptitude nothing by way of instruction. Bars ok but under stocked. Smoking and smell from same out of control . Children's facilities almost all closed. Ice show and Grease the Musical were good. Aqua show cancelled. Generally VERY DISAPPOINTED. This cruise was NOT sold as substandard but definitely was. Who wants a discount against another Royal Carobbean cruise???? An empty gesture. RCCL failed to deliver anything like an enjoyable holiday experience and in arrogance offer faint apology. We recommend you go elsewhere. Read Less

We wanted to see the ship while in the Uk. Check in by ipad was a first for us in Southampton. Having got off Ventura the same morning we boarded Harmony of the Seas early as it was just a short walk down the quayside. As usual the Royal Caribbean check in process was a very quick and smooth operation. We spent the first few hours exploring the facilities and having previously been on Oasis of the Seas we were familiar with many of the different areas. The information stations were very helpful and we checked that the bookings made prior to our cruise for the various shows were registered. All was well with the exception of the message that the Aqua Theatre was not yet completed and therefore no shows would be possible during the cruise. We collected our cruise cards from outside the cabin (another first for us). The cabin itself on deck 14 overlooking the Boardwalk area was spacious and well layed out. The balcony was a reasonable size, although the access door was very heavy to move. After attending the life boat safety drill did not involve wearing or carrying a life jacket. Our first evening meal (freedom dining) was enjoyed in the Grand Restaurant. The process of allocating tables appeared complicated and time consuming, however we enjoyed the food. The first live show in the theatre starred Bobby Davro. Not really our bag but a really professional and funny entertainer. Our Cruise Director made a joke of saying that as the cruise was for only 4 days we could sleep when we got home. Those words meant as a joke were to become a reality! Our cabin on deck 14 was immediately underneath the basketball court. When anyone bounced the ball the vibration and noise were heard in the cabin. During the next 4 nights I managed to find out that the basketball court was open until 11pm, but nobody supervised this and so I had to make a request on a nightly basis to Guest Relations Desk for the curfew to be enforced. The early morning alarm was the deck steward brushing and cleaning the walkway at 5am every morning! So much for a relaxing holiday! Talking about Guest Relations and I must mention the constant queues throughout the cruise. During my 15 years of cruising I have never seen so many people waiting in line from early morning until late at night. It soon became obvious during the cruise that there were many things still incomplete especially on the open decks. Every time you turned a corner there was a Contractor either up a ladder, with a grinder or sander in his hand, a bunch of cables being sorted, or a paint brush being used! There were rolls of tape everywhere notifying of areas not in use, and we were also advised that many of the childrens facilities were not available. Our second evening in the Grand Restaurant was our last. The service was very slow and we decided to use the buffet for the last 2 nights. The variety of the buffet was good and the food stations were well spread out allowing easy access. The highlight of the cruise for us were the Ice Show and the Production of Grease which was just amazing. A credit to the entire cast and fully deserved their standing ovations (we watched Grease twice). Overall the cruise was enjoyable but slightly dissappointing due to so many things not being ready. The noise at night was another negative feature and the inclement weather did not help us see the ship at its best. Having booked the cruise in November and not been made aware that many of the ship's features would be incomplete we felt somewhat let down by Royal Caribbean. The Cruise Director persisted in calling it a Preview Cruise, but we would probably use different words to describe it! Read Less

Harmony of the seas. She is a beautiful ship yes there where areas still not complete or working. I did expect this as I've seen several show on tv about ships on there first sailing not being complete. Embarkation best I've ever had from leaving my hotel at 10.30 walked on to the ship at 11am just 30 minutes including travel First the aqua theatre wasn't ready but givin the weather in the channel don't think I would have wanted to sit out there anyway. Also neither were the water slides something to do with the pressure I heard again it was a bit cold for these too. The children's pools were also being worked on. The rest of the attractions were fine ultimate abyss merry go round golf course, zip wire, flow rider were all working. Royal iq rather system which you book shows dining etc. In most parts is a good idea as you can plan your day several days ahead but bye the same token it made it more difficult to be spontaneous. There also seemed to be a constant queue at guest services Cabin was lovely ocean view 9528 good size window was big enough to sit in nice size shower a..small night light in the bathroom meant you didn't need to turn the light on in there at night. Dining yes the windjammer is too small if you go at main meal times but did discover an ice little restaurant in the solarium. Got up a t 8 the other mornings breakfast wasn't a problem then. Had my time dinning ate at 7.30 was told we couldn't have the same waiters as we had the first site I said we could and did haha. In fact on the 3rd night we were put on a table near by we caught is eye and he moved us himself and pinched another waiters table. Service was was both jamar and his assistant waiter were wonderful he sang to us Beatles songs most nights the wine waiter was also wonderful The shows we saw grease and the ice show were exerlant. Just one tip don't sit upstairs in the theatre as it has an obstructed view in every seat poor design Ports didn't book the cruise for the ports Rotterdam was ok. 1000s turn out to see the ship Public space yes they were often full but this was due to the poor weather so many stayed inside. The ship is definitely designed for warmer areas like the Caribbean tho I would think it could be crowded up top then. Overall the ship was lovely yes there were a few unfinished bits but not an issue to me. And if it came to Europe I wouldn't hesitate to go on her again Read Less

Having cruised on sister company Celebrity twice before, was looking forward to this 4 night sailing. Disappointing doesn't sum it up. I can only concur with previous comments. Served cold food after queuing for 30 minutes for breakfast. Asked for it to be returned only to wait another 20 minutes for another cold offering of Eggs Benedict. Could not even make a cup of tea in stateroom. Shows cancelled, all premium restaurants fully booked, even though we pre-paid for them. I had paid for premium drinks package but this had not been loaded onto my card. Numerous calls and visits to Customer Services as our television was not working. It was fixed the day before we finished our trip. It had not even been configured for use. Hundreds of maintenance workers everywhere. Drilling and banging day and night ( try sleeping ). This was only my fourth cruise but my companion has sailed 40 times and actually sells cruises for a living. He told me if he recommended this ship to his clients, he would never hear from them again. We were Guinea Pigs and Royal should be totally ashamed of themselves, bite the bullet and apologise. Think that had an impact on opinion about ship, maybe in hotter location ship would work out OK. traveled with my wife daughter and her husband, think they had worse problems, so think R.C. may need to put their tin hat on!!!! Extremely disappointed with this cruise. My husband and I were excited to be going on this brand new ship on its first cruise - being regular cruisers with Royal Caribbean we expected their usual high quality and standards. The on boarding was managed very quickly and within 15 minutes we were on board. This was the only organised part of the cruise. We headed straight to the Windjammer for lunch, and was horrified with it. It is badly laid out and you feel really crammed in. On the fleet's other ships this is nicely arranged and flows well. On this ship you firstly have a bottle neck of a hand washing station, then it is very poorly laid out with cramped seating. It seems far smaller than on other ships - this is worrying considering the far greater capacity of passengers! Staff didn't appear organised, so as well as bumping into other passengers, you bump into staff as well. Then to the cabin - we had a boardwalk balcony. First impressions were good, although not many hangers were provided in the wardrobe. No tea or coffee making facilities were available, we were told they had all been allocated. Toilet had a mind of its own, it flushed when it felt like it some time after the button had been pressed. We were well positioned to be able to view the Aqua Show from our balcony - until we found out from other guests there was going to be no Aqua Show! Muster drill was a joke! Our muster station was in the Aqua Theatre exposed to the elements, and when the heavens opened everyone just ran for cover! Good points about the cruise were: 1. Chops Grille as always was excellent; 2. Central Park was a lovely part of the ship; 3. Ultimate Abyss slide is a fun addition; 4. Wonderland Restaurant was a fun experience; 5. Shows were good - Grease show in particular was fantastic, it has to be the best production we have seen on board a ship; Bad points about the cruise were: 1. Gym now in the bowels of the ship, no natural light - gym staff very officious not the usual friendly team; 2. Only Sauna and Steamroom on the ship have to be paid for; 3. Jogging track now tucked out of the way which is great, however drinking fountains don't work and it appeared to be a dumping ground with old doors, ladders etc.. left down there. The white lane marking strips are already damaged! Not expected for a first cruise on the ship!; 4. Guest Relations disorganised and chaotic - we had numerous issues so spent a lot of time here; 5. Shower in room didn't work; 6. Workmen all around the ship; 7. Abandoned tools and workmen equipment all around the ship - drills, angle grinders left unsupervised!; 8. Holes in sports deck; 9. Missing glass panels on Sports deck - by the crazy golf a toddler could have easily plunged 15 decks into the sea. When it was pointed out to staff tape and wire was put there to cover it up! Missing glass panel by Zip wire - when some mothers refused to move until it was replaced it was balanced precariously in place - there was no restriction to those walking underneath on the boardwalk - if the glass screen had slipped the consequences could have been very serious! Missing glass panels could be found elsewhere too; 10. Children's pool not open at all during the cruise; 11. Water slides not open at all during the cruise; 12. Only one flow rider open on any day during the cruise; 13. No sail away party on day we left Southampton; 14. General untidiness of Solarium area, staff were not clearing dumped towels, glasses or crockery; 15. Solarium area cannot be screened from elements so when in rains everything gets wet, towels were exposed to elements so all towels at towel station got soaked; 16. Toilets became blocked on day we visited Rotterdam, urinals and toilets were full, when we informed a member of staff they said they knew - why on earth weren't the toilets then closed; 17. Welding, drilling could be heard after midnight; 18. Music left on till after midnight on Boardwalk; 19. Staff seemed miserable; 20. Main dining rooms had no hand gel provision; 21. Diamond lounge small, dark and dingy, again tucked away in the bowels of the ship, with no natural light. Insufficient provision for the 600+ members on board, when we arrived we were greeted with a load of dirty cups and no milk in the coffee machine, this was only an hour after boarding!; 22. Card room - no cards and dangling wires; 23. No Aqua Show, and formal communication about its cancellation; 24. Lifts breaking down; Thank goodness we had no children with us otherwise they would have been very disappointed - no children's activities seemed to be organised. What should have been a wonderful experience was the worst cruise we have ever had - the ship has the potential to be fantastic. Much of the work required needs to be totally redone due to the shabby finishes - holes in decks/ damaged steps can't just be patched, nor should they on a new ship! Royal Caribbean claim to think that all guests knew it was a preview cruise. We certainly didn't and the price certainly didn't reflect that. If the ship wasn't ready, then cruisers should have been notified, and given the option to cancel or made aware of its unfinished state. We expected the usual high standards and quality we have experienced on other ships in the fleet - sadly this one was a let down. Read Less

Let me start by saying that I am a great Royal Caribbean fan but the recent trip on the Harmony of the Seas was a complete shambles. Let's start with the good stuff. The shows were spectacular and top drawer. The balcony cabin we had was a great layout, spacious and loads of storage. The staff in the Windjammer were also great, and attentive and the food was great also with loads of choice. That said, there was not a lot to applaud. This cruise was billed as the maiden voyage when in fact it was not. Some people had even changed their trip dates because it was made out to be the maiden voyage. The boarding process was fantastic. Straight through to the ship with no delays but from there on we were exactly what they kept telling us we were, Guinea pigs. I have read the responses from Royal Caribbean about how they have played down the issues, that they were all sorted and that things were not as they seemed and that the ship was pretty much ready. They said this despite the overwhelming evidence in terms of videos, pictures, reports, and confirmation from Royal Carribean that things were fine. This is alarming and condescending, especially when I and thousands of other passengers laid siege to the customer services desks for days complaining about just about most things on board. Spas were closed for cleaning as were pools. The water park was not open. Service was diabolical and there appeared almost no cohesion between the staff. Royal Caribbean keep banging on about prices reflecting the standard of the trip reflected in the prices we were charged. As a customer, I decide what is good value for money and we paid the going rate as did most other people. That said, there should only be one standard for Royal Caribbean to deliver, and we did not get it. The experience I paid for, and duly expected to get, was not delivered and for Royal Caribbean to effectively bury their head in the sand and brand the thousands of passengers who complained about the same issues, as liars effectively, is beyond belief. Staff were not trained right, service was atrocious, and to top it all, the Abyss had been working and I had been down the slide a couple of times on the first day. No problems, good fun. On day 4 I decided to do it again, only this time the tube I was riding in, which had been internally lit on the first couple of goes so as you could see what was happening, was completely in the dark, so you could not see, lost all orientation, and as a result, I flipped over and slammed my head into the tube grazing my head. At the bottom of the chute We complained to one of the crew who was busy discussing the lighting on her radio asking for it to be checked. When I complained of the black out in the tube and that I had banged my head, her response was first to deny there were any issues, followed by going on the offensive to tell me I should have leaned back further. At no point was she interested in my well being or the injury I sustained. She was not wearing a name badge either which I thought was compulsory. That topped the kind of slap dash attitude a lot of them head, more I suspect from lack of training rather than the isolated case of an unwillingness to help. The ship was a building site, and on the first day at the entrance to the Abyss, they were openly welding on the deck in the middle of all the passengers. Royal Caribbean are completely in denial despite the over whelminging evidence and sent letters out to passengers on leaving the ship offering a measly 15% discount off our next trip based on it being 15% of the price we paid. The Windjammer, which would normally be open all hours, would shut at 15:30 so no opportunity for the usual afternoon teas etc. You could only get a hot drink after 21:30 from one place on the ship. We travelled in a group of 6 and we all had problems. We reported a whistling sound from the cupboard outside our cabin, numerous times, and it had still not been fixed when we left the ship. Royal Caribbean have insulted the intelligence of so many faithful and new customers by denying the evidence. How can so many people be wrong. They should bite the bullet and at least make a far better offer of compensation to those people who suffered the upset of what we faced. All I would say to first time cruisers would be, please don't judge the crushing experience and all it has to offer, on this miserable trip. Unusually, Royal Caribbean have got it wrong. They should accept responsibility for doing so, rekindle faith in the line, and compensate people properly for this disaster. Read Less

Here is my feedback to RCI. I think that it is a balanced review. I thought that other Cruisers may be interested. The good bits: Check-in – arriving at our chosen time, we were directed to a check-in agent, who scanned the Sea Passes, we answered the three questions, and we were on our way. Less than two minutes. Now that is a WOW! Stateroom cards awaiting us, loaded up with what we had ordered and our benefits as Gold members. Big improvement. USB charging points in the stateroom – extremely useful. RoyaliQ. A very useful app which we used a lot. Staff. They were almost of the usual RCI standard but were obviously fighting the incomplete services. They were most apologetic when something didn’t work or they had run out of things. Despite it all they gave a very good impression. Grease. We have seen this show numerous times from the West End to amateur productions as well as the film. This beats the lot by a mile! The set, the lighting and the sound were superb. The choreography was divine. The acting was excellent. The singing was great. Only one small gripe. The song which Sandy sings at the end of the records scene with Rizzo, was sung far too powerfully. It was not in keeping with either the song, which is sad, or the character. It did show off the power in the singer’s voice but it did spoil the song completely. 1887. Forget the so called story line (it was invisible to all except the creator!!!!) this was a superb show. We have seen several ice shows on RCI and this was the best by far. The costumes were amazing, the skaters were so very professional and the lighting effects were unbelievable. We attended all of the headliner shows except Tenors of Rock (not our taste in music) and all were excellent entertainment by very professional acts. We especially like Bobby Davro. The Orchestra. I know it was only one set up on deck 5 but they were superb. I could have sat through a whole show of just them. Jazz on 4. We don’t normally stay up late but on all four evenings we stayed up way past our bedtime to listen to these musicians par excellence. I cannot find words to describe the pleasure that they gave us. I have kept their names and will be ordering CDs of their music. I must also add that the young lady barman was outstandingly good. I think that her name was Kristina. Wonderland. A restaurant which kept us guessing from start to finish. The tastes and textures were an amazing mix which gave pleasure to the senses. It was good to see that Chops Grill has not diminished in quality at all. The menu in the American Grill was extensive and the quality of the food was very good. The bad bits: Our table in the American Grill (306) was difficult to get to and very squashed with other tables. The impression was of tables being crammed in together to make up the numbers. The wine waiter never came to ask if we wanted anything (which we did) and we had to ask our waiter who obviously didn’t have a clue about wines. As a result, we had half-finished our main course before we ordered. We only had a glass each instead of our normal bottle as there wasn’t time to finish it. All the restaurant staff appeared to be rushed and not working as the relaxed efficient team that we are used to. I suspect that the processes need to be sorted out. There were far too many technicians working in all parts and on all decks of the ship. To see cables being run in to booths on Deck 8 (or was it 5?) showed just how much work there was to do on the ship. Also equipment being installed above roof panels with wiring hanging down waiting to be connected. We had anticipated small glitches (e.g. no channel descriptors on the TV Guide page, water handle on the basin out of alignment) but not the major failings and incomplete work. There were boxes and cabinets waiting to be used in the public areas. One balcony area was full of boxes and equipment roughly covered with a tarpaulin. There was equipment waiting to be installed in the bar area of Wonderland. I have experience of work being contracted to French maintenance organisations so I should not have been surprised when the ship was in the state it was. Never did the French deliver something to schedule! The difference with my organisation is that we refused to accept the work until it was completed and we invoked the late delivery clause in the contract. The PA system on decks 5 and 8 was useless. We couldn’t make out a word that was said because of the echoes. Because there was no PA in the rooms we didn’t hear a single announcement in the 4 days that we were on the ship. It was OK for hearing the emergency alarm. Booking a restaurant was not possible from either the app or the TV. You had to go to the restaurant itself to book it. By the time we realised this many of the slots we wanted were full. Fortunately, the staff did their best to accommodate us. Having to wash your hands before going into the Windjammer restaurant is an aim to be applauded. However, only having 4 wash basins meant extremely long queues at peak times. This was totally unacceptable. At least 4 or 5 times that number of washbasins are required in order to give an acceptable wait time. We spurned Windjammer as a result. The normal sanitizers should be available until this is sorted out. Not enough thought has gone into this. What is especially annoying is that all other restaurants either have sanitizers or nothing at all!!! Where is the consistency? Finally, the biggest failure of all. After I booked this cruise back in October it struck me that I had never heard of the Harmony of the Seas. I went to your web site and looked it up. The background image was of the Aqua show with descriptions of how it is amazing and proving to be a great success on your other Oasis class of ships. Other friends had also told us how good it was. To find out after we were well underway that it would not be on was a major disappointment. Watching the rehearsals showed just how far behind it was. I fail to see how an organization like RCI could not have had the rehearsals carried out on the other two ships when the pool and trampoline were not being used. This is a major failing of RCI. Some of the shops were not open. Either they were not ready or the concessions had decided that it wasn’t good for their brand image to be on a ship with so many issues. I received three e-mails about the need to have the check in completed and the sea pass ready at the appropriate time. I did not receive an e-mail saying that there was still lots of work to complete on the ship and that the Aqua show would not be available. At no time before the cruise was I told that this was a “pre-inaugural” cruise. That phrase only was used on the 3rd or 4th night by the Cruise Director. In summary, the ship should eventually be up to your usual standard and meet the expectations which RCI dedicated cruisers have come to expect. But on our cruise (and I suspect the current one also) the ship simply wasn’t ready for fare paying passengers. It was OK to have some Elite Class and above passengers on board on a complimentary cruise to receive their feedback but not for passengers to pay money. This ship is not yet ready. I am sure that you are considering compensation to the passengers. Read Less

My husband and I took this short cruise to experience the new ship. We have never been on such a large cruise ship before. Check in at Southampton was smooth, straight through to the check in desk and on board within minutes after that via the red carpet! We thought we would head off to the windjammer restaurant which was totally manic, after visiting the new hand wash stations we soon found a seat and got a hot meal before heading off to explore. The ship truly is beautiful with many places to enjoy a drink and a chat with fellow passengers. The indoor spaces were quite busy but once the sun came out on the last day the situation eased somewhat. The entertainment was great on the first night, and we thoroughly enjoyed Grease the next afternoon. I plucked up courage to go on the zip wire, the staff were very professional and safety conscious, and it was a great experience. The balcony stateroom was kept lovely and clean, with the occasional towel art to welcome us back in the evening. The only thing it lacked was tea and coffee in the room. We ate 3 nights in the American Icon Restaurant on the early sitting, food was wonderful as were the staff. We also ate at Wonderland, which was amazing. After all that good food a trip to the gym was in order, it was very well equipped and I soon got rid of those extra calories. Plenty of clean towels abailable and hygiene wipes to clean down the machines after use. The aqua theatre was shut, but this did not cause us any disappointment. We did not use the solarium as the weather was not kind enough for swim wear. We did walk through and it looked like a great area to relax in. There was wnork being carried out, but I have never been on a ship which is free of maintenance men painting or repairing something, so it didn't bother us as all. As we left the port of Rotterdam we were given a massive send off, and people lined the 20 mile route to the sea, I felt like royalty. I am glad that I had the chance to sail these 4 nights on Harmony. Thanks RCCL Read Less

Well where do I start. Check in at Southampton was fantastic, quickest ever. Once aboard we went to the Windjammer for a bite of lunch, well for a ship that holds over 6000 guests seemed much smaller than i thought, in fact it was a struggle to get a table. Food quality was not as good as on my last RCCL cruise. Afterwards had a wander on the open decks, seemed all the Jacuzzis were closed for cleaning, looked to me like they wernt even finshed, childrens play area pools had construction materials in and were roped off. The more we saw of the ship the more and more unfinished it was. The muster drill was done in the aqua theatre but the wait to start was so long it strarted to rain and I am sure not all guests heard the staffs instructions. Main dinning was ok but the vegetarian options are getting poore from RCCL not better! Day 2 was Formal and me and the wife like to dress for pictures and dinner, well jumped in the shower around 4.30 pm, not working, NO hot water, a visit to Guest services to be told sorry pipe burst and they were not sure where so they shut the wole ship down, other guests from different floors confirmed it was wide spread. I never imagined I would be on a cruise with around 1000 construction workers, this is not how it was sold to me. I paid the full price set down by RCCL, was never informed by the next cruise sales team it would be an unfinished unsafe ship! I understand there are always teething problems, but so many areas were unfinished or poorly finished, I suppose you buy a cheaper french ship and this is what you get, all of the other ships we have cruised on were built in Fnland by a german owned company and the difference in quality is clear to see. To sum it up feel cheated and ripped off by RCCL, shame really because we usually enjoy our cruises on RCCL ships. Was offered a small percentage but declined, will have to take it up with customer relations in the UK and Miami. Read Less

Right let’s get this straight, The ship was 99.999% finished so everyone stop bloody moaning about everything. Get a life. We did not have a problem with anything at all, sure people moan about something that will come back on because someone has had to turn something off for a short time. Me and my 4 mates loved every minute of the cruise, the ship was awesome and all the staff were just as good. The food was outstanding and the service was just as good everywhere around the ship. We had a really good cruise because we did not spend the whole time at guest services moaning and trying to get something back. I spoke to a couple who were in their 70s and they were complaining the water slides were closed.Yeah right as if they would have used them anyway. Let’s move on, Its awesome ship and it has it all. It’s perfect for lids of all ages and perfect for families and couples. There are so many options to eat for free and some you do not. Book this cruise and it will blow you all away if it’s a little high for your budget book the Oasis or the Allure which are the same apart from no water slides or the Ultimate Abyss at the back of the ship. So harmony gets big thumbs up from me and my friends Read Less

The cruise was sold to me on the basis of being a 'Maiden Voyage', but once on board it was indicated as 'Pre-Inaugural' or 'Preview' cruise. There was no indication the ship would still be in the process of being completed, with work men being everywhere. The Aqua Theatre not being ready was a big disappointment. The main dining room was a major let down due to the calibre of the food and the service. We ended up having to use the supplementary restaurants in order to get a decent level of food, spending another £200 in the process. On the first morning we had a sit-down a la carte breakfast in the main dining room. After waiting an hour for our order, random dishes arrived for our table in place of what was ordered and they were lukewarm. We left shortly after, hungry. The quality of food at dinner was mediocre at best, with service being very patchy. There were very few places to sit when it rained, due to the amount of outside public space. This drove people in to the limited seating in the Royal Promenade, even into areas that they had no intent of using, such as Sorrento's. This then made use of those places harder. I appreciate the ship is intended for more warmer climes, but rain is still likely in the Caribbean. An enclosed lounge area looking out to see was sorely missed - even the Solarium is unusual in that it is open to the elements. It seems you can sit inside or outside, but not inside looking out. You end up being forced to your balcony in order to get adequate seating and have some peace and quiet. The food in Windjammer was poor in areas of choice and quality. I don't see why the buffet cannot be the same calibre as that on Celebrity. The Coke lifestyle machine in the Windjammer had no ice leading to the drinks it dispensed being warm and unpalatable. There were very few hand-gel dispensers and people enforcing their use. The supplementary restaurants didn't seem to have them, and the main dining room was certainly not enforcing their use. They were notably absent from the frozen yoghurt area on the Lido deck. Given the high profile of Noro virus on cruise ships and how it can spread, this is a problem waiting to happen. We were woken at 1 am on the last evening by the people collecting the suitcases laughing, joking and being very loud. Given the time of the morning, this should be done as quietly as possible. The emergency drill was quite chaotic with people not quite knowing what they should be doing and people just standing around. There could be more structure to this. Johnny Rockets had a number of issues. There were 8 tables in the building, but the lack of covered outside seating meant there was a large queue. It was not easily apparent how people should queue for take away food over sitting in. The staff would suddenly break into a dance whilst food sat gradually going cold on the counter, which just exacerbated the length of queue growing outside. For some reason on a port day Johnny Rockets doesn't open for lunch, choosing instead to open at 2pm. There were also bolts emanating from the floor where the stools were clearly meant to be. The aircon in the stateroom started at a reasonable temperature, but after some maintenance one day the aircon only provided cool temperatures even after being turned up to maximum. The ladies toilets had large round bins in the cubicle instead of proper sanitary bins. My Crown and Anchor status did not appear on my card for some reason. Getting off the ship was an unusual experience with having to get off a deck that was below the pier line. This necessitated a steep metal ramp up and then down, with lots of people assisting with the needlessly difficult traversal. My wife and I are quite able bodied and could manage it, but I feel sorry for more elderly passengers. Given both the dimensions of the ship and tidal patterns in Southampton are known, I'm not sure how this came to be. It was clearly not the correct deck to have to disembark from. When we sailed on Anthem of the Seas last year on its second public sailing, we were impressed at both the finished state of the ship and quality of service offered. It does seem that it was pushed out to paying customers too soon. My overall feeling is a lack of consideration to paying passengers. We had been looking forward to the cruise due to it being advertised as a Maiden voyage as well as it being rare quality time for us to have as a couple. To not meet our reasonable expectations after the expenditure of time and money was a huge disappointment. The ship has been massively promoted in the media, but who cares about big slides and a robotic bar if the the basics such as food and seating are just not adequate? The promise of a new revolutionary ship was not delivered. Read Less

Harmony of the Seas – 22-26/05/2016 I'm not able to attach here, but I have photographic evidence of raw chicken that was served in the Windjammer buffet on the Harmony of the Seas and video footage of the ongoing construction, which will be put on Twitter. The cruise was sold to us as the ship’s maiden/debut/inaugural voyage, however when it became apparent that the ship would not be ready, Royal Caribbean began referring to it as a ‘pre-inaugural’ cruise. Either it was mis-sold or RCI changed their minds - either way it is unacceptable. Harmony of the Seas is an absolutely beautiful ship and I am certain that it will come into its own when it is finished, however this was not our experience. Of course you expect teething problems but there were hundreds of construction workers, working around the clock and staying in the cabins next to ours. Our cabin attendant told us that ours was the only cabin in the vicinity that wasn't occupied by contractors! Venues were incomplete, entertainment and activities cancelled, deck 15 and 16 windows shattered and missing, staff were not fully trained and the iPad systems did not work - the same issues brought up by others. But not only this, the ship was so unprepared for this sailing, that basic health and safety standards could not be met. There was no hand sanitizer near the main dining areas and on the penultimate day, we were told by a staff member that the ship had no hot water (?). On may 24th, in the Windjammer buffet, the guests were served a tray of breaded chicken that was completely raw. Being breaded, it only became apparent after I had begun to eat it. This issue was so severe that the Food and Beverage Manager immediately removed it from service and we spent the following hour in the onboard medical facility. I believe other passengers have reported food poisoning, but we actually have photos of the chicken. In response to Royal Caribbean’s claim that "As always, Royal Caribbean's highest priority is to ensure the safety of all its guests and crew members", we are bringing this issue to light. We contacted Royal Caribbean and gave them the chance to resolve the matter privately, but were told that although our complaint had been acknowledged, due to the number of complaints, it wouldn't be dealt with for up to 3 weeks... Regardless of what label you attach to this voyage, the passengers and crew were put at risk and the ship was just not ready to sail. Read Less

Awful cruise! Dreadful staff and ship not finished. Since our return we've emailed RCCL twice to complain but still haven't received a reply. Ship was dirty and we had to change drinking glasses and cutlery several times because they weren't clean. Hand sanitiser was rarely available. Loved the shows on Anthem but the entertainment has definitely taken a step back on Harmony. Food was less than average unless you wanted pay extra. Even 150 which we've dined at before on the Oasis was a mess. The 10 deck slide was fun but not worth the hype. Cabin and steward were lovely. To make matters worse I had a dreadful stomach virus for the last 2 days of the cruise...a coincidence that hand sanitiser was no where to be seen?! We will never cruise with RCCL again and fear that they have lost a lot of loyal cruisers after this dreadful cruise! Read Less

This was the first sailing of Harmony carrying fare paying passengers. The ship was like a building site and no regard was paid to passenger safety. I saw a missing glass panel missing from deck 16. Yes the panel that prevents you falling overboard ! It was not fitted till 24 hours AFTER we set sail. There where trailing wires and ladders all over the open decks, no caution signs of any kind. The Aqua show, Ice show, water slides and many of the hot tubs where closed. Many passengers had no water in their cabins and public toilets where overflowing with untreated human waste. There was a constant long queue at the customer service desks all wanting to complain. No reason was given for so many of the facilities being closed at any time during the cruise and no apology was made by the Captain to any of the officers. Read Less

Yes, I was fully aware that there was work going on to put the final touches on Harmony of the Seas. No, that did not put a damper on my overall cruise experience for the four-night maiden/preview voyage to Rotterdam, Netherlands. The embarkation process was the smoothest I've ever experienced. My family and I were onboard in about fifteen minutes! Once onboard, I was wowed by sheer scale and spectacle of Harmony's public areas, especially Central Park and the Boardwalk. Even though the ship is the largest in the world, it's surprisingly easy to get around. The size of my balcony cabin was perfect for my sister and I. The beds were comfier than those on other RCI ships, and the installation of extra outlets was appreciated. The service onboard the ship was great (at least what I experienced). The food onboard was actually an improvement compared to the food on other RCI ships. Even though some staples of RCI entertainment, including the production show and Love and Marriage, were absent on this sailing, the show that was present (Grease) was an entertaining take on the Broadway classic. Some of the other activities onboard were great fun, such as the Ultimate Abyss slide and Escape the Rubicon. All throughout the first day, the non-redemption games at both arcades were on free-play mode, despite there being no sound on any of them. For my shore excursion in the Netherlands, I decided to go to the Efteling theme park in nearby Kaatsheuvel (RCI offers a shuttle/ticket package). It was one of the best theme parks I have been to, complete with amazing rides, equally amazing theming, and short lines. Overall, while it may not have been perfect, my maiden/preview cruise on Harmony of the Seas was plenty of fun to be had. I hope to cruise on this megaship when it comes home to Florida. Read Less
