Our family chose this cruise line because we have gone through it before and have really enjoyed the service and overall experience of the ship! We came to Orlando,FL a day before embarkation and stayed at The Avid Hotel which was very clean and 3 weeks new! We were told it was built with the intention of serving professionals, so I would not suggest this place with families with younger children if you are looking for something like a pool. However, for young adults and older it was just fine! Embarkation overall went very smoothly and they even let us on the ship a little early than our original boarding time! Once we got on they let us explore the Ship and our rooms were ready at 1pm. For the duration of our cruise our room was ALWAYS clean after a day of fun! Sabina, who worked as a state room attendant, was incredible clean and responsive to any mess we made! She also has an amazing and warm personality and whenever we saw her we had a great chat because she always asked us about our day! The dining experiences were amazing but I have to highlight Jacinto the head waiter, Kexin the assistant waiter, and Reuben who I believe was a manager, went above and beyond for their service! We made sure to be seated at their table every night because they were such a joy to be around. They were all very personable, welcoming, and went above and beyond in their job each in their unique way. They also all remembered our tendencies in terms of what we ordered whether it was extra vegetables on the side to an order of espresso. Royal Caribbean Cruises really hires top people in their industry! I would say that every staff member I encountered on the ship I had a positive experience with. The entertainment was AMAZING. Definitely top performers around the world!! The ports and shore excursions were very fun! Even though Coco Cay excursions were canceled due to weather, the Island was beautiful and the service was still great! The ship did not seem overcrowded ever and the only time it ever felt busy was during dinner in terms of waiting, however we never even waited that long. There were children on board, but there was this place called the solarium which was an adult only place and it was incredibly relaxing. It definitely felt different than the rest of the pool areas. If you’re someone looking to meet others on the ship it is actually quite easy to because it seems that many guests are very friendly and open to meeting new people! There’s also many opportunities to meet people either the same and or similar identities. My sister and I went the the LGBTQ meet and greet one night and met some really nice people we kept in contact with and hung out with for the rest of the duration of the cruise! The cruise line made it easy because they have an app where you can actually message Other passengers on! I would definitely recommend using the app if you go on the ship. It keeps you updated on all events and activities and really promotes involvement. However the only down side is that the other guests would save the cabanas and not let other guests use them, so I would say maybe add more cabanas if possible? I would definitely go again!!! My husband and I thought that we would try something different this cruise and go Royal rather than our norm, which is Carnival. We have never had a bad cruise with Carnival, however, we didn’t see an itinerary that caught our eye during the vacation week that we had scheduled off for out of the port that we use. No biggie, we were all for trying something new! (Our mistake) Day 1 starting our voyage on Harmony of the Seas, embarkation was a breeze! Easiest check-in/boarding process I’ve ever had. Royal did not provide sign and sail cards until rooms were ready and they left them in an envelope outside your cabin. In the meantime, they provided a paper with a barcode you could use as a temporary sign and sail card for any purchases onboard the ship. We boarded the ship and had very minimal time before our cabin became available. We had a standard balcony cabin that was pretty much the same as all of our Carnival cabins. Our cabin had a “cooler” instead of a fridge. This is apparently a Royal thing. It was better than nothing, but a fridge would have been nicer. We purchased bottled waters for our cabin and they were “chilled” and that was about it when we took them out to drink. Next was the laundry fiasco! There was a paper bag left on our bed that had laundry service instructions. There was a promotion on the first day to get your clothes ironed for half price. Perfect we thought! I hate ironing! I packed as many clothes as I could into the bag as instructed and left for our room attendant. She informed us she would have our clothes back to us the following day, though the instructions stated it could be up to 48hrs before clothes are returned. We head to dinner where we are seated at a table for 6. We asked our waiter why we weren’t at a table for 2, he stated he’d have to speak with his manager. Luckily, no one else showed up. (We are all for table sharing at breakfast but not dinner and especially not after a long day of travel) I ordered chicken Marsala and my husband ordered prime rib and a baked potato. My food was edible. That’s where I will leave it. The presentation was not as expected. My husband’s steak was okay but he had to eat his baked potato plain because he was never offered butter nor sour cream as we watched the other waiters go from table to table serving it to their guests. Our waiter was inattentive. The dining room was bare, likely due to being the first night, so there’s no excuse that he was overwhelmed. The dining room manager came and told us that we had been assigned a new table for 2 in a different dining room for the remainder of the cruise. Let’s head into Day 2! We were excited for breakfast. Breakfast in the main dining room has always been a highlight of our cruises in the past. We made our way to the dining room for breakfast where we were shocked with how limited the menu was. However, it was a day at port so we had hopes that the sea day breakfast would be better. So, Perfect Day at Coco Cay! First time for us. It was okay. It was literally a water park and man made beaches! Nothing spectacular, but relaxing nevertheless. We beached for a while and had lunch that was provided at the park. I was impressed with the variety of food that was provided for lunch. We headed back to the ship for an afternoon nap before dinner. Luckily, we slept past our dinner time (5:00) because our laundry still hadn’t been dropped off so we had no clothes to wear to the main dining room. My husband had a few extra casual shirts that he was going to put on so we could go to the buffet. He proceeds out of our room with his shirt and asked staff in the hallway where he could find a laundry room to iron when he was informed that “Royal does not do that.” Note to future cruisers! Carnival, laundry rooms everywhere. Royal, pay for laundry service or go wrinkled. Had I known this, I would have paid to have all of our clothes ironed. Moving on, the buffet was great! Lots to choose from. Good service. Around 12:45am we were woke up by our drunk neighbor who in the moment we thought was in the hallway w/ his guests. They were being extremely loud and obnoxious. We could hear their entire conversation word for word. We ended up calling in a noise complaint after 20 minutes went by. Apparently security came and did not see anyone in the hallway so we then were called and security asked my husband to come out to the hallway where he was basically confronted about the people actually being in their room and not the hallway. We had no idea being woke up out of a dead sleep where the people were, it sounded like they were in bed with us. We were giving them the benefit of the doubt and thought that they were just locked out and waiting on someone to let them in. We have never experienced a “bad neighbor” on a cruise before. Security tells my husband there is nothing they can do when guests are inside their cabins and that, “Sir many people are still awake.” As we were approaching 1:30am at this point. Day 3 was a day at sea! Again, we were excited to get to the main dining room for sea day brunch! Only to find THE SAME EXACT MENU OFFERED AS THE DAY BEFORE! No specialties. 4-6 hot dishes. We were once again let down and ate in the WindJammer Buffet for breakfast for the rest of the week. Our room attendant saw us in the hallway and asked about the noise complaint the night before. No clue how she knew about it. So we told her that security was not helpful and that the noise continued until around 4:00am. She apologized and stated that she would be in contact with guest services. Surprisingly, later that evening she brought her manager and guest service supervisor to our room who were very nice and asked that we please let them know if the neighbor continues to be a disturbance because there was only to be 1 guest in that room so if he was bringing people in, they could put a stop to it. To make a long story short — we ended up downloading a noise app on our iPad and played it every night to get rest. There were a few nights that we weren’t bothered too bad, but we had a TERRIBLE neighbor. Days 4&5 we good days at port. We loved biking in San Juan and snorkeling in St Thomas. We thought we’d try our new dining room out since being reassigned seating. The service was better. The food was worse. I had ahi tuna that had an orange sauce over it that resembled baby food and tasted like carrots and cinnamon mixed together. It was terrible. I couldn’t even eat it. My husband had the New York Strip steak that he was pleased with. We made sure to have dinner off the ship in San Juan at the local Tatiana’s right at port. Some of the best fish tacos I’ve ever had! The only downfall to eating off the ship was that it left us with limited options for later. The buffet closed at 8:45pm EVERY NIGHT and the only other option after that was pizza on the promenade where most of the 6,200 guests would be for “night life.” In fact, every time we went down there we had to weave through chairs that people were sitting in lining the sides of the entire deck. They actually blocked off the entrance to the pizza place! It was not convenient at all! We stayed hungry after hours! Day 6&7 we knew we were in for it! 2 LONG days at sea! Days 6&7 at sea. We had a massage booked on day 6 in the spa. It was delightful. The staff was friendly! In fact, a lady that helped us actually told us that she had requested to be on Carnival and was put on Harmony. She told us that the staff was “serious and grumpy” on Harmony as we were telling her that we were not enjoying our time. She is trying to get back on Carnival ASAP she said. Our final evening we were in the hot tub and met a couple who cruise Royal frequently. They encouraged us to try a smaller ship w/ Royal. They felt like Harmony was an understaffed ship and that was why the service was not good. We continued to make small talk and I asked why Royal doesn’t make any towel animals in the rooms. The couple told us that they had received one EVERY NIGHT. They said that maybe our room attendant didn’t know how to make them, made sense. They then mentioned their room attendant’s name … SHE WAS OURS TOO!! THIS COUPLE WAS ONLY 3 ROOMS DOWN FROM US. We were never so disappointed. We will never cruise nor recommend Royal Caribbean to anyone in the future! We paid a lot of money for this trip and typically only take 1 big vacation a year … complete waste. My husband and I cruise a lot. We have cruised on Carnival, MSC, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean. I think about 15 in total. We have only been on Royal Caribbean twice. This last time we went on Harmony of the Seas. The ship was beautiful but it was just another cruise ship. We did not like that we had to make reservations for the shows prior to departing. While at sea one of our shows was cancelled and the new time for us was at 10 pm. We had our small grandchildren with us so this time was not good so we missed the show we really wanted to see. The food was pretty good and the shows that we did get to see were good. The cabin- a balcony- was typical. The ship, although it did have all the bells and whistles, was pretty much the same as all the other ships. We found that unlike MSC or even Carnival, Royal Caribbean over charges for everything and they automatically add tips onto EVERY little thing. THey even charged a tip on a little overly priced plain popcorn that we purchased for our grandsons to have during a show. Carnival gave us popcorn for free. We did not like that our grandsons were too small to go on the water slides- even though they were big enough on the Carnival Breeze. In fact, the water park on the Carnival Breeze was far superior to the Harmony. BUT, the main reason we are giving only one star is because when we returned home we were charged $200 for a deposit on a future cruise. Neither I nor my husband authorized this. We had not been interested in a future cruise at the time of the cruise. We had JUST returned from a European MSC cruise (AWESOME EXPERIENCE-LOVE MSC) So, although we are planning on a cruise out of China, that is not for at least another year. When we called Royal Caribbean to inquire about the charge we were basically told that the charge was NON REFUNDABLE! HUH? How is a charge that neither I nor my husband authorized be non refundable? When we departed the ship we were given a printout of our charges and nowhere was there a mention of a future cruise deposit. Well after an hour on the phone only to be accused of having second thoughts and therefore wanting our money back we hung up on Royal Caribbean. We immediately filed a complaint with the BBB and contacted our credit card company. Now, our future cruises will definitely be on different cruise line. Shame on Royal Caribbean for treating their customers so rudely. NEVER AGAIN ROYAL CARIBBEAN! Read Less

We recently sailed on the Harmony of The Seas for the September 22, 2019 through September 29, 2019 itinerary which was scheduled to visit Perfect Day at Coco Cay, Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas and Phillipsburg St. Maarten. Our stateroom number was 6542 on the starboard bow. Sailing during hurricane season is a new experience for me and I had some anxiety leading up to the sailing, thinking our cruise may be interrupted due to a storm. I began checking the Royal Caribbean website every day, the week leading up to our cruise. Thankfully, there were no itineraries being affected by the multiple active storms at the time. About midway through the week leading up to our cruise, Tropical Depression Karen caught my attention. I continued to check diligently and to my surprise, there were no itinerary changes. I woke up on September 22nd full of joy and excitement. I couldn’t wait to take my one-year old son on his first Royal Caribbean Cruise. My wife and I are members of the Crown and Anchor Society and have been on our fair share of Royal Caribbean cruises. We were excited to visit St Thomas for the first time and to return to St. Maarten, one of our favorite destinations. I checked the website one more time before we left our house to drive to Port Canaveral. Once again, no itineraries being affected. We boarded the ship, started to explore, and got settled in. At about 4:13 PM the Captain came on the intercom and made the announcement that due to Tropical Storm Karen, we would not be sailing to St. Thomas or St. Maarten and no replacement ports had been chosen yet. I again checked the website and there had been no updates. We didn’t find out until the next day that Costa Maya and Cozumel were picked to replace our original ports. We fully understand the safety of the ships passengers and crew is paramount and Royal Caribbean does not control the weather, but Royal Caribbean can control the way information is disseminated and when it is disseminated. This is where our frustration lies. We would not have booked this cruise with the Mexican ports at all, especially for the price we paid. We do not feel we received the full value of what we purchased. We also would have seriously considered rescheduling or cancelling the cruise, had we known sooner about the change. Unfortunately, the way Royal Caribbean chose to handle this, left us with one choice, which was to stay onboard a ship which was leaving in 15 minutes. According to the International Cruise Passengers Bill of Rights, Cruise passengers have the right to timely information about itinerary adjustments related to mechanical failures or emergencies, and I think the same should apply to itinerary adjustments due to natural phenomena. This was not the case. We are not the type of family that makes decisions based on one bad experience, but we are human and were frustrated about this situation. Our situation only got worse when we tried to reasonably voice our concerns to Royal Caribbean. We were basically told too bad. Up to this point I hadn’t needed to use Royal Caribbean customer service for any issues an I am surely glad because their service is non existent. We did really enjoy the ship itself but our customer experience was atrocious. If I was to chose on service alone, I would never sail again with Royal Caribbean and I wouldn’t recommend anyone else do so either. Speaking on the ship, It was very clean and very easy to navigate. There was a lot of walking and stair climbing involved but we were able to do that with no problem. We ate at Izumi, Johnny Rockets, and Sabor while on board which are additional fee specialty restaurants. Izumi was similar to any hibachi we've eaten at before. Our one complaint with Izumi is they allowed us to book a 5:30 pm reservation and sat us on time but they made us wait until the 6:00 pm reservations showed up before serving us. Johnny Rockets and Sabor were very nice and our food was good at both. We used the kids splash area, which was large and was never crowded. The splash area is split into two sections for kids in diapers and those who are not. The area for kids in diapers was much smaller and most of the water features were too tall/big to play with. I went down both water slides and the Abyss which is a dry slide. All were very fun. We also used the marry go round on the boardwalk almost everyday. Read Less

My wife and I were on the Cruise from September 15-22, sailing out of Port Canaveral. We are both Gold members (I gained mine by marrying her!), and we had a lot of expectations that this ship...and cruise line... would do a lot to overtake Norwegian as the top line. Sad to say, that never happened. Before we even set sail, we had arranged for Valet Service for our baggage on Departure Day. We planned to place our bags outside our Cabin by 10PM on Saturday night, September 21, 2019. However, at about 8PM a young lady knocked on our cabin door and handed us a note. That note...which I have saved... may well make it into a Court of Law before this is all over! It advised us that we would NOT be having the Valet service as advertised, and that we would have to see to our own bags in the terminal! Mind you, we had flown into MCO...and were flying OUT of MCO... on both ends of this trip. We used Jet Blue, which is listed as being one of the airlines that is involved with the program. SUPPOSEDLY... (and here is where it gets dicey!)… Jet Blue had turned down our request for the service. We called them, and they did advise us over the phone that they had no idea what I was talking about. The letter from RCCL was not addressed to us by name, but to "Dear Guests"...something that I found to be offensive. They seemed quite unwilling to even talk with Jet Blue about this problem. Mind you, it was THEIR EMPLOYEE who delivered this letter to us, and the letter made numerous mistakes. It even said that we had to leave our bags outside our cabin on FRIDAY evening by 10PM for a SATURDAY departure. The problem with that? Our ship was returning to Port on SUNDAY MORNING, so we had to leave our bags outside our cabin on Saturday evening by 10PM. They gave us exactly TWO HOURS of notification, which was NOT enough time to resolve this mess. This is not the whole story of this disastrous cruise! I'd heard that RCCL likes to nickel and dime everyone, but found it hard to fathom how badly they did it! They brag about their buffet being...supposedly... the finest on the seas. Well, on the Norwegian Bliss we could easily get an omelet...to order... for breakfast. Was that possible in the RCCL buffet? NOPE! We had to go to "Johnny Rocket's" in order to find a decent omelet. But the crowning touch? Mind you, we are talking about a $1 Billion ship, and we were paying a lot of money for the cruise. Yet, when my wife went to an event at the theater, she was told that she'd have to pay an extra $2.50 for a little box of popcorn! I was surprised when she told me about it, so I checked it out. She was telling the truth! I stopped there and asked the man who was making the popcorn about it, and he offered to give me a box..."for free". I declined because I believed it was wrong for any one person to get a free box... while everyone else has to pay. It is not my norm to look for things to complain about. However, there were so many things that were just plain "wrong" about this cruise and this cruise line that it would take a really LONG message to go into all of them! We will be sticking with Norwegian Cruise Lines from now on, and have no plans to go on RCCL again...period! One other real problem: The casino allows smoking in one half, but there are no signs warning people that they are about to enter a smoking zone. For those of us who are highly allergic to cigarette smoke, it can be a real issue. My wife almost did not make it out of the smoking section before getting ill from the smoke. IF there had been NOTICEABLE SIGNS that were placed to warn the passengers, this would not have been a problem. But did RCCL take the time to place such signs where they could be seen? NO....and I did look all over the place. All I was able to see were the "international stickers" indicating "no smoking zones"... placed on the slot machines... down low so as to be almost out of sight. Read Less

My family and I, 11 individuals total, booked a family vacation and birthday cruise for myself. Days one through five on a seven day cruise were Horrible! We reported incidents to Guest Services as they occurred and there was little to no follow through. It took three requests for beds to be separated in one of the cabins, four of the six rooms were not clean nor being cleaned daily, the food was average and sometimes served old or cd, initial wait staff was rude and inconsiderate, dinner tables were separated versus together as booked, several activities on schedule unavailable due to lack of staff, elevators were not functioning properly, charged for birthday cake before receiving it that was not ordered and had to prove it was an error, venues for shows not adequately sized which led to people sitting on floors and stairs, specialty restaurant vouchers given could not be used due to over booking, and incorrect billing for beverage items included in package. After several attempts at resolution and promises to “make it right” nothing was done to appropriately remedy the situation. Definitely not worth the money spent and won’t do it again! This was our group of 6's first cruise and we were excited to get things underway. We booked flights with Air2Sea with the guarantee that there would be alternate flights available if there were any delays during our layovers. Lo and behold, we experienced a delay. When we got to the next airport station, we were told there were ZERO alternate flights available. We missed the cruise. Although they tried to make up for what happened by giving us stays in Orlando and later Cozumel, there was zero communication made with us unless we tried to call Royal Caribbean or Air2Sea first. We were promised to be updated on flight itineraries in the following morning; ultimately, we weren't updated until the night before, when we had to call them, only to find out that they made the flights without emailing or notifying us. We would have missed the flights if we didn't call. We were even told by one of the agents to "stop calling" when we were updating them on impending delayed flights. When we reached Cozumel by plane, we realized the agent did not book our hotel rooms at all. Air2Sea's international number also did not apply in Mexico (IMPORTANT TO KNOW) so we had to resort to Facebook after 2 hours of nothing else working. Finally, rooms were secured. On the day we were embarking, port security told us that 2 of the guests did not have their names on the embarking list. Apparently there may have been some miscommunication between Royal and Air2Sea. Again, we had to wait until this was resolved. When we eventually got on the ship, the experience was great! Onboard entertainment was amazing and the food in the main dining room was excellent. However, this was cut short when Hurricane Dorian happened and the ship's travel length was to be extended. Because some of us had strict work commitments, we had to leave at the next port, finishing our cruise early, cancelling our other flights, as well as having no compensation for booking these flights. In summary, we only experienced 3 of the 7 nights on the Harmony of the Seas. Although our time on the ship was amazing, the miscommunication between Royal and Air2Sea ruined our vacation. We received no compensation for the events that unfolded and this has soured our experience with Royal Caribbean. We will NOT be cruising with Royal again. Read Less

Other than that, the weather was quite unpredictable, coco cay was not perfect, all excursions cancelled because of stormy weather, we were able to enjoy part of the day. Be warned that you cannot do lap swim on the ship, the pool is very small, crowded and dirty. Jacuzzi was good. They put the smoking section near the swimming pool. You will smell quite a bit of ship exhaust in the sports area and the aqua theater. The surf rider if you don’t know what you are doing don’t ride the surf, you can get seriously injured. The food was okay, most of it was salty. The breakfast and lunch have little variety, if you have a balcony get it at mid or front section to avoid the exhaust. We did not do the tour on st marten , the beach there are many scammers trying to get you pay fit chair and umbrella. It is not a bad cruise, we had plenty of bad luck, it is definitely one of the worst I had gone, the cabin lock did not work at first Read Less

GREAT ENTERTAINMENT, BAD SERVICE AND MEDIOCRE FOOD THE BAD RC has gone to new depths to encourage you to spend money. There is no comfortable seating anywhere in the ship, including your cabin, except in the bars. There is no place to sit and read a book. Indeed, there is no library on board. The only half decent food is in the specialty restaurants. So if you do plan to go, despite my warnings herein, add the cost of specialty restaurants to the price of the cruise and make your reservations early. Their on ship app is awful and frustrating, it has limited information, doesn’t always work, and doesn’t notify you if you get a message. So....you will have to buy the WiFi package. The upsell is constant and they must be under a lot of pressure to make quota because they won’t take no for an answer......so very annoying. The shops are over-priced, you can get the same thing in the overpriced tourist traps on shore cheaper. One thing of note, an 18% tip is added to all the bills and called a “service charge”. . So when you are contemplating a tip keep in mind that you have already given them 18%. For myself, I don’t appreciate the deliberate deception. Give great service for a great tip. THE UGLY MEDIOCRE FOOD. Looking forward to great food on your cruise? You won’t find it here. This ship falls way below standards. In main dining the chef does a decent job of cooking the meat properly, but the meat is of the poorer cuts and such low quality that it is tough to cut and chew. The sauces are watery and served skimpily, perhaps a tablespoon. I can’t say if they are tasty as there is not enough served on your plate to make a determination. I don’t know what the eggs are, but they are not real eggs....powder maybe? Note: if you still take a cruise on this ship, there is a fried egg station hidden aft ..... we found it on Day 6. OJ is simply disgusting, not made from oranges. I could go on. Most of the alternatives for lunch, such as Johnny Rockets, aren't worth paying extra for. BAD SERVICE. The wait service in main dining is non-existent. They are quick to take your drink order and charge your account, but you can wait up to 17 minutes (we timed it one night) to have your food order taken. THE GOOD WONDERLAND SPECIALTY RESTAURANT In contrast, we ate at Wonderland one evening and experienced the best meal we had of our life. We have traveled around Europe and the US to some of the best restaurants, so that is saying something. The creativity, the imagination...and I’m talking about the food, not just the surroundings. Bread made into foam, clear tomato juice, meringue dessert in the shape of toadstools. The explosion of flavors as they hit your palette. I won’t spoil the awesome surprise with the smoking eggs and chocolate dessert. Don’t let the menu dissuade you, this is an experience not to be missed and be prepared for the gastronomic experience of your life! THE GOOD GREAT ENTERTAINMENT. I was very impressed with the variety of entertainment and quality of the performers. The ice shows were spectacular. We saw 1887 and the iSkate show, the latter being one put together by the performers themselves. They are world class champions skating for your entertainment pleasure. The aqua show was equally outstanding. The stage rises and falls, the choreography is wonderful.....high divers, tight rope walkers, and a guy who twirls for 10 minutes. We asked, because we had to know, but apparently he meditates and that’s how he can do it for so long. The thing to keep in mind is that they are doing all this on a ship that rocks back and forth! There is also a lot to be said about the cool things on the ship. Imagine the elevator doors opening up and there before you in the elevator is a funky guy with a funky hat, singing and playing the piano.... a piano in the elevator! I rode up and down with him and had a jolly good time. So cool! Or you can order a drink and watch a robot make it for you! Too cool! Or you go sit at a bar in Central Park to have a drink and the entire bar rises and falls three stories! Or ride a carousel....on a cruise ship. Or how about watching a replica of the kinetic sculpture of Kafka in Prague (a silver head that turns around in sections). Hard to describe. Zip lines, water slides, this ship has it all. For us, this was our first and last RC cruise, even if they did improve the service and the food. In addition to the things discussed above, there is music everywhere. You cannot get away from it. Music in one area competing with music in another area. Then on top of that, the many passengers trying to talk above it all. Waiting long periods of time for the elevator because of the masses of people waiting for one.The lack of comfortable seating. The void of a place to go an sit quietly and talk or read. The awful food and service. I can spend my money on a ship far more enjoyable that doesn't confront you with a sales pitch at every turn Read Less

This was my 9th and LAST RC cruise. It started with the most disorganized safety breifing and got worse fron there. The VOLUME of music is intended to cause hearing loss. Not just the venues, the music playing around the ship. The pool deck is so loud you cant hear someone speak directly in your ear. There are NO quiet places to smoke and only one quiet place without A/C to play games. Don't ask the crew where or when anything is- they do not know or care. We tried Trivia but the two spermalougers were snarky, condescending jerks. RC sold us a cabin with noise intrusion nightly (from an aqua show) without telling us. We gave RC four weeks to apologize, refund, or respond and we got nothing. The Columbus Musically has multiple burping lines. It's a cross between Pirates of the Pinzance, spring time for Hitler. To say it was terrible would be to give it too much credit. There were plenty of things to do for an upcharge- escape room, specality resturants, zip lining. The Kareoke bar is only open for two- three hours per day even though it is a kareoke specific bar called "on air". Generally open from 11pm u til 1:30 AM. Not all of us need liquid courage. Having been a fan of royal and it’s sister ships - this was a huge disappointment. I chose this ship that was suppose to have a dreamworks program catered to little kids. After paying in full I was told the program was canceled and nothing would be replaced. I paid 500 dollars for an almost 2 year old to sit a one mini splash pool. The best part is kids wake up early and the pool doesn’t open to 10. The last day the filter was broke and we couldn’t even go in for hours. LocAted right next to a larger splash park that she couldn’t go in with a diaper or any other pool on the ship. I was told there would be multiple options of things to do with a young child - ok great if I want to put my baby in an indoor playroom on vacation NO THANKS. Do a Disney Cruise is all I can say. The food was about good as a cafeteria in a hospital and lines for places to pay were a mile long for also mediocre food. 150 central dinner upgrade was the only positive thing I can say about this cruise. Service awful, out of everything form drinks to hot dogs, they never had anything. I haven’t taken a royal cruise in many years and will never again. Celebrity has always lived up to its expectations but with a child I was told Royal was the ship- NO go If you dont want to be nickel and dimed for every penny you spend skip this cruise line. I am a person happy to spend money on a trip especially for my baby girl. I have cruised on most lines and vacationed from beaches to the best resorts. Thank goodness we are going to Disney world after this or id be so upset right now. Lesson learned I will spend my money elsewhere where by daughter can actually have things to do like the characters and parades that i paid for but we’re canceled. My family of 9 went. My husband and I (28 y.o no kids). My Brother and his wife (30 y.o with 3 kids) and my Parents (67 Y.o). So we can give you a broad overview of each family type. I wrote a lot, so I headlined everything so you jump to the part that is relevant to you. LARGE GROUP REVIEW We choose this cruise line 1.5 years ahead of time to celebrate my father retirement. We scheduled 1 big family excursion which was to swim with the Dolphins since my two younger nephews were limited with what they could do. In addition, we chose the Royal Caribbean because they had DreamWorks associated with it. With less than 6 months to go, they canceled both. So we all ended up doing something different in Saint Maarten. My mother took the younger kids for an excursion and my husband, brother, and sister in law did something different. Day of port they canceled the one with my mom and the kids again!!! This time because there was a protest going on near the French side of the island. They did not cancel ours, we talked to our tour guide who said they canceled over 100 peoples tours for no reason. She said the tour companies even told Royal Caribbean that the demonstrations were done a week ago. Overall, not a lot of tours for 5-12-year-olds. Dinner times sucked. It was 5:30 which tended to be literally right when you got back from the port or 8 which is way too late for people with children There needs to be a 6:00 pm or 7:00 pm time slot like Carnival or Norwegian has. KIDLESS ADULTS This cruises entertainment sucked. The shows we extremely below par. The fine line was an aqua show where everyone was out of synch. Reminded me of the Shark during the Superbowl. It was as if a bunch of HS hip hop kids wanted to do Cirque de Solie but had only a week of practice. It was like they were using actors from other shows as background dancers. For example, the divers from the water show were performing in the musicals. Some of these performers never took dancing classes and it showed. There was limited comedy clubs with no variety of performers. The only good show was the headliner (juggler) and the ice skaters. Also, they had reservations for shows which kind of worked like fast passes. This was stupid so I ended up signing us up for all of them and not showing up to some of them. Because who wants to plan everything out on a cruise. The adult pools were 16 and up but was never enforced. Do not expect this to be the place for 20- 30-year-olds with no kids. Also for you, drinkers, DO NOT BUY THE BEVERAGE PACKAGE!! To make it worth it, you have to drink close to the max amount of drinkers per day (13) including excursion days. It appears to be worth it because they charge 18 for a drink. Here is my tip. Go on the website and send your room alcohol through Royal Caribbean. It comes with mixers such as sprite and coke. My mom had the refreshment package ( nonalcoholic mocktails since she likes pop and she would get us virgin pina coladas, which we made nonvirgin, with the rum we ordered to the room) We saved $500 and never ran out of booze. You also get to bring one bottle of wine per adult. We ended up taking 3 bottles of wine home (they were gifted to my brother's room complimentary and he doesn't drink). You think you are a drinker and its worth it, I am telling you my husband is a drinker (he makes his own beer since he drinks that much). In other words, I just can not see the drink package being worth it for anyone. Even if you don't get the refreshment package you can make screwdrivers with the free orange juice in the morning. ADULTS WITH SMALL CHILDREN My brother and his wife have a 3, 7, and 10 years old. This boat is for you if you have kids. It was very teenage-centric at night and kid-centric during the day. It had a carousel which I took the 3-year-old on many many many times. The 7 year old loved the kid play zone and went there almost every day. However, the play zone center did lose 3-year-olds clothes somehow. The credited my brother account for this. My brother said he would have rathered gone on the Disney cruise and thought the boat was not kid-centric however, I strongly disagree. His standards might be too high for cruises and kid stuff. Maybe he thought this because the plays were very adult orientated and the kid ones were more for the 3-year-old rather than the 7 and 10-year-olds. The sports activities were meant for teenagers so maybe the age 5-13 is not well represented. The tours for this age bracket was also very limited. ELDERLY REVIEW My father is very limited in his ability to move. There were very few activities he could do. Most cruise ships do tons of trivia for the older crowd. There was little to no trivia options compared to other ships. There were some, but most ships I have been on have them every other hour not just once every other day Also, my dad needed a scooter which they required to put in his room. However, how they designed the room made it extremely difficult to get it in. The bed was close to the door and there was very little space between the bed and the wall. As a result, they had to put it in the space between the bed and the bathroom which blocked the entire entrance and made it difficult to get up and go to the bathroom at night (especially for someone who needs a cane to walk). EXCURSION REVIEW: 1) Excursion: St. Maarten (RHINO RIDER) After all the cancellation we did a Rhino Rider (Small JetSki Like Boats). We were to ride to the French part of the island and go to a beach called Happy Beach which is named that because its a nudist beach. My husband and I did this one buy our self. The jetski ride was cool, you get to see all the capsized boats from the hurricane and even saw a boat in the middle of the road near the coast. We had to follow the instructor to avoid all the sunken boats until we got to the other side. This was pretty cool, as some of the boats looked like they would be perfect for a horror film. We rode to the beach area where we were supposed to swim to the shore and have some time on the beach. I wanted to half participate (topless) in the Happy Beach but not like near people I had to ride back with. So we walked about 5 minutes from the boats down the shore. My husband stood on some rocks and say every one getting on the boats. We had only been there for 15 minutes top. We had to run back and get on the boats and go back. This was way too short!!! 15 minutes on the beach is not enough time even if you are just snorkeling. I have done other excursion where you get an hour or two on the beach. That is what I get for trying to replicate the Carnival experience I had the last cruise. The worst part was, there was no reason the excursion to be that short. We had plenty of time before the ship left (>3 hours). The reason they have it so short, was because the next tour was waiting to use our jetskis. Wow.... all about the money. When we got back to the boat company they had taken some photos that I wanted to check out and see if we wanted to buy. The bus driver was yelling at everyone to get on the bus before the photos even came out. AGAIN there was no reason for this as the ship did not leave for another 3 hours and it was a 20-minute bus ride back. I am not kidding on the rush I am 28 y.o and very healthy it was not like I was dicking around. The photos had not even been developed yet digitally. Overally, extremely rushed. 2) Hati (Luxurious Sail Yacht) We were supposed to take a Yacht ride to a private beach for a swim but it was too windy so they just cruised around. The rum punch was unlimited so that was cool. It was pretty windy so I get why they diverted. PORTS REVIEWS 1) ST Maarteen Typical Cruise Port Feel. Tons of Jewelry stores and souvenir shops. We did not mind this as it was the first port. We bought some local Rum that was confiscated and returned at the end of the cruise ( normal for cruises). 2) Puerto Rico Puerto Rico is its best port because it's the only non-cruise port location and has tons of history such as the building architect, town church, and forts. However, you only get to be at this port from 7 am 1:00 pm to see the town. I assume they do this because they don't own the city and money spent there, is not money in their pocket. Do not do the excursions, they are a waste of money. I knew this ahead of time because I have visited San Juan once before. The walking tours are a rip-off. My brother bought a walking tour since he has small kids (7&10) at first, but we convinced him to cancel it and we walked the city with him. In the end, he said something along the lines "They were charging $60/person for something you could do in 3 hours with two kids just by going to the information stand". Remember PR speaks English, your phone works 100% ( just like it would if you were in another state) and San Juan can be walked in less than 3 hours even with kids. You can google anything you need, just like you would if you were in a foreign city like NY, Chicago or San Fran. My biggest issue is that the time spent there is way short and they know it. I just filled out the survey for the Royal Caribbean and they asked about the amount spent at each port except the one in San Juan. I wonder why they don't care about the one, $$$$$. 3) Hati This was the port we were most excited for since it was the only location we had not been to. They advertise this as Hati, but it really is just a peninsula of Hatti that they have rocked off from the rest of the land and commercialized. You were not allowed to leave their resort area. You are at a private resort where you can use your room card to buy everything because they own everything. They should not be allowed to call this Hati. The couple's cabanas were $100 for a small little umbrella-like structure and $500 for the bed like structure. I guess my bother did not know that you had to pay to use it, and accidentally used one during the day. So you could always try that. Do not rent the rafts they are of horrible quality for the price. I saw people try to use them and give up after an hour or so. The food was good though. SPA & FITNESS The three girls ( mom, sister in law and I) did the spa message with the seaweed treatment. Overpriced which is typical in cruises. We all 3 bought the products they pushed. However, I returned it because it was so overpriced and probably not worth it. My sister in law and mother followed shortly after. In other word do not feel like once you purchased something you are stuck with it. In addition, on the first day, we received a free consultation for feet arches. My sister and law and I did it where they fitted us. They then said the inserts were $200, so I passed. My dad ended up doing it on day 3, and he paid 99 for the consultation and 99 for the inserts. Yeah, so that "free consultation" was not free but built into the cost of the shoes that my dad got for $99 CABIN, SHIP & DINNING These are the only things I liked about the cruise. The cabin was huge compared to other cruise lines even for the budget option. Food was very good in the dining and the service was of course very good. Very friendly staff. The pizza was served till 3 in the morning which was nice. The Ship was very well designed, I liked Central Park as it had a big garden that was pretty. Read Less

We chose this ship because it was a newer ship and the fantastic reviews. Embarking was quick & easy. Unfortunately the only time of year we are able to go is Spring Break, we expected a lot of families and children on board. What we didn't expect was parents allowing their children to run wild all over the ship day and night. Children were allow to run through the Casino while it was opened. Waiting for an elevator one night at 9:30pm there was a group of boys playing catch in front of the elevators, staff members walked by and said nothing. The pools were very small and could not accommodate the passengers. If you wanted to sit by the pools like a can of sardines in the chairs you had to save your chair early in the morning. The adult only area allowed anyone over the age of 16. By the end of the week the pool decks were disgusting, we were tripping over glasses and stepping on straws. The only smoking area on the ship was on the pool deck which was never cleaned during the day, ashtrays were seldom emptied. Food was minimal not like Royal use to be. The dinner menu in the main dining rooms were the same the entire week expect for 1 different entrée nightly. (The flakey crusted fish was hard as a rock). I would recommend spending the extra for the specialty restaurants, well worth the money. Our cabin steward was very friendly. As for other staff members we had a hard time understanding them, as well as them understanding us. Royals private island Labadee Haiti was a money pit, anything you wanted to do cost extra, renting a water raft to float was $25 for the day, Zip Lining was $135.00, a Roller Coaster ride was $26, the only free thing to do on the island was sit on a beach chair or eat. We decided to sail the Harmony of the Seas this year, and we have sailed with Royal Carribean before (Allure of the Seas) as the previous one. This time, we felt like we had the worst service and experience possible. We went as a family of 8, we had a total of 3 rooms. Service: 1. When we went to grab food from the buffet, which took forever to get in because there were constant lineups. I met up with my sister and her baby at the table they chose because they were there earlier, they were already done eating so they gave us the table with their finished food left there. My boyfriend grabbed 2 full plates of food for me as I waited - a freshly made pasta from the make-your-own pasta section in which, may I mention, he literally lined-up for 20 minutes, and another plate from the selection of foods. I left my table with the 4 plates ((2 obviously finished, and 2 COMPLETELY untouched) with grated cheese sprinkled on my pasta still)) with my purchase coca-cola bottle there to grab tobasco, a 10 second walk to find that the 2 completely untouched food were gone, and the 2 finished plates were still there. No one came around, and I asked a server if she saw, she replied: Because you left your table. I explained the situation to her that I was only grabbing tobasco, for 10 seconds but she still blamed it on me that I left. I questioned, are the servers not able to tell the difference between what is eaten and what is not? I even questioned why she didn't take the other two plates that were finished, but she actually shrugged and walked away from me. She did not apologize at all, but she talked to her manager and her manager came and apologized and to also offer to grab new pasta for me. I am extremely furious with her bad attitude, if she had apologized, I honestly wouldn't be writing this review. 2. When we got to Haiti, we signed up for an activity where a small boat would take us to a complete ALL INCLUSIVE private island called the Amigas Island or at least that was what the sales said. She sold us on being able to drink, scuba-dive and do water activities for free on that island if we signed up. So we did, we paid. But when we got there, nothing was for free. We were stuck on the Amigas Island for 2 hours to do nothing, when we could have just stayed in Labadee and ate buffet. We got back to the cruise to specifically speak with her regarding this incident, she only gave us a refund for the price of the scuba-diving rentals (12$ USD). 4. On the last night, we went down to guest services to pay the remaining card balances, we paid with my credit cards, but we specifically asked to keep my credit card on file because I was going to make purchases at the duty free before we get off the next day, and didn't want any complications when we get off. I specifically mentioned and asked twice to confirm that the credit card was a file because I didn't want any complications, I wanted to just get off and go straight to the airport to catch a flight. The representative reassured us that the credit card is on file, everything was fine. However, when we were getting off the cruise ship, I GOT DENIED. because apparently there was a remaining balance to be paid in cash. So I go back to the guest services in which I see a really long lineup, but there was a representative at the end of the line. I spoke with him about my situation, there must have been a mix-up. He said he will check right away and had gone to the back. I also mentioned that I am in a hurry to catch a plane. He came back and said that my card might have a limit that is why it didn't go through. He told me I had to line up anyway despite the fact that I really had a plane to catch. 40 minutes later when it was my turn, another representative said that there is NO credit card on file and asked if I wanted to pay by cash or credit card. They pretty much lied to my face right? But I had to let it go by paying and rushing to the airport. All and all, I would definitely not recommend Royal Caribbean, or at least not the Harmony of the Seas. If I had to recommend, I would recommend going for Princess cruises instead. We had a noisy cabin next door, loud music at 2am. It took 4 days and a lot of complaining to get the ship’s crew to do anything. This basically ruined the cruise and is justification for 1 star on its own. Staff are told to “push” specialty restaurants, their words. So, if you aren’t one of the many people who are happy to go to the windjammer and shovel copious amounts of sub-average food into your face non-stop, then you will need the premium dining package. The main dining room food has gone downhill, probably to incentivise guests to pay for the “specialty” restaurants. They seem to be substituting pestering for service. Whether it is photographs, drinks packages, merchandise, etc., the crew are clearly incentivised to make the hard sell. It makes the whole experience fee cheap. There were wires all over the common area that were racked up with Velcro. It just goes to hilight the lack of attention to detail. Yet another symptom of the slow grinding decline of Roya Caribbean. Standards are slipping. I left my crown and anchor pin on the desk at guest services. I won’t be back. Read Less

Picked an Acqua Theatre suite for a first class experience. Review is mostly a comparison to NCL which I cruise on a lot. First the highlights - ship is beautiful with great wow factor (central park, acqua theatre, skating, variety of shows), acqua theatre shows were great, wifi worked well, good mobile app for your phone, nice fresh fruit smoothie bar by gym, and nice gym. Areas for improvement - 1) The suites, suite restaurant, and private sun deck are all in different locations and it was obvious people were sneaking in. At the sun deck, we saw people hoping the little 3' gate because there was no one to check to ensure only suite guests were there. NCL has the Haven restaurant, sun deck, hot tubs, lounge, bar, and high end rooms all in one location and you have a locked door and a concierge desk to get by to access this area making it hard for someone to sneak in. 2) Coastal kitchen okay, but not high end. Hours are limited. Included wine had a retail value of $8 a bottle. NCL has bar, lounge, food open all day. 3) Even if staying in a royal suite, and one of the priciest ones at that, you still have to pay for popcorn at a show. 4) You can only bring 2 bottles of wine on board and if you bring to dinner, they charge $17.60 for opening it. Note, wines and spirits are included on NCL Haven suites in the club lounge, restaurant, sun deck, and at all restaurants. 5) Temperature inconsistent - hallways went from 70 degrees to 90 degrees depending where you were. Elevator banks were consistently 90 degrees. 6) No bottled water at Coastal Kitchen in the morning on port days. Concierge sounded surprised people would want bottled water when leaving the ship to an island when it's 95 degrees and sunny out. I finally found some at the cafe. By the way, bottled water was included in my package. 7) Kids camp no fun for the kids. At NCL I can't get my kids to leave. At RCL my kids were calling begging to leave. 8) Inconsistent policies - At Coastal Kitchen they told me the kitchen was closed even though posted hours showed they were open for another 20 minutes. 9) Misrepresentation - Royal suites are advertised as having special hours for slides and flow riders. No such hours existed. 10) Unperfected tech - You get a wrist band which acts just like your room card except for some restaurants, and for some items, and for the times it doesn't work...sir, could you go back to your room and get your card cause your band doesn't work here...but it did yesterday...yes, but they stopped working today 11) Room nice enough, but nothing compared to the 2 bedroom 2 bath suites on NCL ships. SUMMARY - Paying top dollar on RCL Harmony for royal class will get you a bigger room, but don't expect to feel special. The Harmony is the biggest lip stick coated pig I've ever seen. Read Less

Only spent two days at ships pools but seen over 20 people fall on slippery deck. So dangerous. Complete incompetence to use such a slippery surface. Food in windjammers average. Chops and other speciality restaurant was a over 2 hours....so slow but food was decent. Took over an hour to get to Atlantis and is was only a 5 hour port. Excursion listed as half day at Atlantis and was there for 2 1/2 hours. Not 600 well spent. Kids Can not ride water slides if wearing a rash guard. They get stuck. A lot of the hot tubs close at 7? I’ve taking a lot of cruises. This one is towards bottom. Better options out there. Read Less

I choose to spend one week with my daugther cruising in the Caribbean sea. The Harmony of the Seas, to me seems a big disneyland on water. No relax. Two small pool, full of people, all the time. We did not even touched the pool for the all week. It’s a pity but it was a terrible experience to me. Never again. Maybe I was unluky, but the previews cruise experiences that I had in Europe, were much, much better than this one. The stops were not the good ones. Labadee was like a Circus, everything was fake. Hopefully we had a sailing excursion, that was good. The only good memories that we have about this trip.the other excursion in Tulum was terribile, so hot!... the bus did not have the air conditioning and we arrived to visit Tulum at 13,00 pm. It was crazy!... so hot!... what kind of holiday is an holiday like this one! They had to warn people about not to pick this kind of excursion with this terrible temperature. the staff were always nice and kind, but this kind of cruise ship has not a good balance between relax and fun. We chose this ship because i thought it would be great for my son to have his kids club and i could have alone time to read and relax. The kids club was one single room for his age that the kids never left, hence no exercise at all. Also there was only one attendant for 50+ kids and another checking people in. There were no games, no artwork, nothing. My son was so board, he just wanted to be with me all the time. Even when i could convince him to stay at the club, which wasnt easy, id do a round of the public lounge areas and although they we nice, none had any windows to watch the ocean at all. Apparently every bit of the ship is taken up by balcony staterooms. The slides were fun but always with long lines and when we thought we could take advantage of shorter lines when at ports, not a chance, RCL would close the slide to save on not having to have an employee man it. The food was plentiful in the buffet and dining room but tasteless. Also cheap food except the occasional lamb chop or shrimp they would throw us once or twice. The shows were decent but of course cues were long and everywhere was overcrowded. And, get ready to wait in line all the time especially to eat. We went to shore a couple times but again cues were long to get baxk on the ship and once it rained so hard we got so wet, RCL did nothing to help. The worst thing about the cruise for me was the stateroom. I paid double for a jr suite 7640 and it had the Jamie kitchen to the top left and there was maintenace cleaning banging all night long. Mangement could care less, they threw me a couple bucks of my onboard bill for losing 4 nights sleep before they could move me to another room. Paying for the junior suite was a waste anyway, we got no special dining, no early or special boarding, nothing. But they were happy to collect more daily tip fee. We did get a few inches more of room but it was useless since there was nowhere to eat in the room, no table nor was there one on the extended balcony. The room and wait staff were mediocre. Honestly, there was nothing special about this cruise and it was obvious you were just a nimber to them, not a person. You only need to read the yelp reviews to see they rate far below their competetors and now i know why. Having cruised Disney, Princess and now Cunard too, dont waste your money unless you get a really really cheap deal. Read Less

We flew to the US specifically for this cruise. Extremely disappointed. Service was non-existent, we were constantly made to feel as an inconvenience in the main dining room and Chops Grille was terrible with service and food. We were left standing in the middle of the dining room while we waited for a table as there was no organisation. The food was so disappointing, some food was inedible and had to be sent back. Each time I dined in the main dining room I left hungry. Having a different server each time made for poor service and they seemed uninterested and didnt want to be there, until the last night when the whole atmosphere changed and they asked us to rate them 9 or 10 on the survey. Chops, we were a total inconvenience to them. I had dined at this restuarant on the Explorer and couldnt wait to do so again, and the food was terrible, my partner and I both ordered 16 oz steaks and mine was the worst steak Ive ever been served. The server came with the gravy and just slopped a small amount next to my steak didnt even ask how much I wanted. The steak was full of fat and gristle and I was so upset by this and the poor service. The table server barely had time for us and when I was speaking to him he just walked away whilst I was speaking. I had the wedge salad and it was just thrown on a plate. The lack of service and care in chops was incredibly disappointing. There were no pool chairs available the majority of our trip. Passengers left towels and belongings on pool chairs for hours on end which was highly annoying as there were signs saying there was a 30 minute limit but nothing reinforced by RC. Because of this I didnt even get a swim in the pool, or use the slides because there were kids everywhere. The ship was ruled by kids. We spent the last 2 days of our cruise in our room because we couldnt find anywhere else to sit in the ship, watching the terrible TV. Everywhere was packed and the noise was unbearable so much different types of music being played and all so loudly. Vince in Wonderland was great, exceptional service and set the whole scene for the restaurant, and Edra (dont think thats how you spell it) took care of our room was awesome. All in all, the ship and the team were a massive let down, no one bothered to acknowledge us on the ship, and a waste of our time and money. We had sailed last year with Explorer and it was exceptional. Wont be sailing with Royal ever again. So upset and disappointed. Entertainment on the ship was terrible also, we walked out of Grease and the Tenors as they were so boring. And couldnt get into much else because it had to be booked and most was booked out on the first day. The whole cruise was a massive let down Read Less

To be fair this cruise departed Ft. Lauderdale when TS Alberto was in the GoM. Many activities and areas were closed Days 1 - 4. It seemed the crew followed that lead. Only on Day 6 - 7 did it become a good cruise but clearly way over crowded. Our first RCI cruise. Bad luck or the future of mega ship cruising? So where do I start? Pools at 4x capacity, spas at 2x capacity. Pools were absolutely filthy after Day 2. No discernable filtering or cleaning of pools and spas. They just block off the pool or spa and recirculate the water for "cleaning". Dirty scum bubbles in spas after Day 1. There was no chlorine smell (free chlorine) from pools or spas after Day 1. What that means is the water is unsanitary, filled with germs and bacteria from guests. I witnessed only one 'drain and fill' cleaning in the Solarium, ergo, they do not have or do not use spa filters. The greasy, scummy bubbles on top of the spa water after Day 2 attest to this. Greasy Windjammer floors for Day 2-3. Complained to crew member on Day 2. Cleaned only on Day 4. At sail away the Captain bragged about 6200 pax at start of cruise. Then there's an industry award for fuel efficiency prominently displayed. At one island departure I witnessed an elderly woman clutching her chest being put on a stretcher and hustled into an ambulance and evacuated. It caused a 45 min. departure delay and a crew member screamed at dock crew to hurry up and clear the docking equipment. Gotta maintain that fuel efficiency rating ya know. Food was bad Days 1 - 4. Who-the-heck puts green and black olives in beef stew? Daughter said Carnival Paradise food was better (!!). She said it had more food for kids. She said most of her food tasted like "cardboard". A kid right, so I checked it. She was right. How do they even do that? How can you make Mac & Cheese tasteless unless the cheese is complete junk? The worst was a chocolate strudel cake which had chocolate syrup on outside and the black cake was not flavored. I joked, what like it's just food coloring to give it a chocolate look? I went and got one to test. She was right again. The cake wasn't even sweetened. Only the chocolate syrup and Oreo crumbs on the outside had flavor. Another piece of decorated cardboard. The advertised dining times in the Cruise planner were cut short at several venues via posted dining times displayed on a stand outside or on a chalk board. The posted times were always shorter than the Cruise Planner's advertised times. On Day 3 we showed up for dinner to Solarium Bistro at 7pm in dress casual (pants for me, dress for daughter). I could not make reservations due to my daughter being 9 y.o. Restaurant was 2/3rds empty and several groups had young children and grownups with shorts. We were turned away due to no reservation and told to come back an hour later. Tell that to a hungry 9 y.o. After that we just did the Windjammer for dinner. We could find the good dishes and stick with them. Not surprisingly, when we found good dishes or desserts they were usually gone if we returned for seconds.. At the one dinner we did in the Grande MDR my medium rare lamb was rare to raw. I won't eat raw meat so half the lamb went uneaten. Other than that the Grande was ok. Service was average. We skipped dessert and went to the Windjammer from then on. Breakfast at the MDR was crazy over-crowded. There were no cereal bowls for my daughter's cereal. I had to wait at the cereal station for 10 minutes for a cereal bowl to come out of the dishwasher. The attendants were conciliatory and seemed depressed. You could tell they realized the ship's design set them up to fail with this many passengers. I did not complain as by this point I could see the ship was not engineered to handle this many passengers with any semblance of dignified service. The only show we were able to attend was Columbus due to booking it 3 months out. 3 weeks out I tried to book other shows (ice skating, aqua theater, etc.) but no reservations were available. Daughter had to wait until Day 6-7 to do the Flow Rider and Rock wall since both were closed Days 1-3 and the lines on Day 4-5 were way too long (sunburn and dehydration). I could go on and on and on but I'll just say this ship does not work over I'd say 4,000 pax. It was clearly NOT designed for full capacity. Everything was out of whack and the crew was overwhelmed. I will never book another Oasis class cruise unless it is half empty. And probably not even then. Crew was over worked, and stressed as evidenced by many with bags under their eyes and long faces. I saw crewmembers working multiple venues, even one who had broken her wrist on the cruise. Only the cabin attendants appeared to had efficient routines and did not seem over-worked. We locked ourselves out of our cabin one time. Another room attendant who did not have a key to our room called our room attendant via radio explaining we needed the room opened. Our room attendant refused. She had to get maintenance crew to let us in. I called the ship's customer service several times for inquiries but the phone was never answered. Just put on hold. I'd place it on speakerphone and after 10 min.s hangup. On Day 3 at breakfast time, waiting for the daughter to wakeup I considered ordering room service and having breakfast on our balcony. I Kid-You-Not, no more than 5 minutes later a bunch of water splashes down over the front of our balcony onto the railing, table, foot rests and chairs. Good thing I didn't order room service. Later that day our TV has message that tomorrow the ship will be washed and to avoid the balcony. Well, that went on for 3 days, always starting at breakfast. Couldn't they have picked a better time? Yes, they could have. All in all this was a very poorly managed ship and cruise. Poor efficiency and bad facilities. Who the Heck designs a pool for a cruise ship with a filtration/cleaning system which can only handle 21 ppl in the pool? We consistently counted over 80 ppl in the pool water. Can you say e-coli, gardia, etc.? I would not allow my daughter in the pools after Day 3 or in the spas after Day 6 and then only the Solarium spas. Days 7-8 we avoided even the Solarium spas after getting briefly ill on Day 6 following being in a Solarium spa evening of Day 5. It took double zinc supplement to send that away. We were the only ppl I saw showering before entering spas and pools. How dumb can ppl be? And how dumb can a cruise line be not to know how dumb their passengers are going to be and account for it? IMO only the suite customers had a good cruise due most in part to separate, superior facilities, dedicated attendants and block-booking of reservations for their use in restaurants and shows. What does that make regular cruisers? It makes them Steerage Class. Welcome back to the 19th century's style of cruising. I'm giving RCI one more chance on the Brilliance in October to see if it was a ship thing or just how they run their ships. But seriously, the Carnival Paradise, a 20+ y.o. ship, has better service, a MUCH cleaner pool, friendlier more helpful, more considerate crew and routines. We never had to make reservations to get into shows or restaurants and their up-charging no where near the Harmony's. No more Oasis class for us unless they're at half-capacity! Poorly designed, poorly executed and poorly managed ship. Inefficiencies and bad routines everywhere I looked. And for what, a Steerage Class cruise at 2.5x the cost of our Carnival Paradise cruises! We were disappointed in the following: 1. The adults only solarium area on the ship had kids in it all the time. We even said something to someone and their response was “well as long as their parents are with them they will be fine”. Very disappointed. We came without our kids so we didn’t have to deal with them and the only adults only place allowed kids in there 2. There was supposed to be no smoking allowed on the room balconies. We booked a balcony to be able to sit outside and enjoy the evening and morning and we had someone smoking out on their deck all the time. We even told someone about it and nothing was done about it. 3. First day on the ship we tried to book shows and diners and all we got was that everything was booked. How are we supposed to book things if everything says it is booked But we could go down and wait in line for 30 minutes to see if we can get it. If they had room, they why couldn’t we book a time. Very disappointed 4. Only one pool for adults and it was packed. The pools say a limit of 21 people in the pool and there was way over 50 constantly. Why have rules if they don’t get followed ! 5. Your staff was not very friendly 6. There was a flood in one of the rooms next to ours. They had to move 3 people. However they didn’t move us and we had to deal with the horrible smells coming from the hallway. It was nauseating. Read Less

Chose this cruise due to this being the biggest boat and I had a bad experience with a previous Royal Cruise and was willing to try again but only was disappointed snd this was the WORST!!! We paid over 300.00 for a couple massage that came with the hot tub soak. The massage was great and relaxing but afterwards you were pressured very hard into buying the product they used on you and many times we told the lady we were not interested and she became a real smart butt and proceeded to inform us that is why our bodies were in bad shape. So when we finally got to our whirlpool bath we were made to robe up and walk into the halway when there was indeed a connected door and I felt we we’re retaliated on due to use not purchasing their product. The unlimited drink cups were a joke. We finally had to return both glasses due to it not being unlimited like advertised. Many times we walked up to refill our cups and was told we would have to wait another 45 mins, 1 hr etc until refill eligibility. Paid over 200.00 for 20 photos to be placed on USB and only got 13 of them. The Solarium was suppose to be an adult only atmosphere but yet small children were there causing a not so relaxing atmosphere. While dining in the Windjammer servers were walking around trying to get you to sign up and pay for sushi rolling class etc. Couldn’t view any shows due to having to make reservations. 24 hr food was VERY limited. It was the same food every day and even the same food in different locations. Overall trip was a waste of money. Will stay with carnival cruise lines!!! Read Less

heard it was the biggest in the world and wanted to try. The food quality is very bad. the free food selection in the main dinning room was the same everyday. The chicken feel like rubber in the mouth, some of the waitresses ( not the ones assigned to my table) told us that they do never recommend certain items to passengers because they were bad. A huge and heavy piece of toilet wall fell on the head of my 6 year old niece head. it was horrible to talk to the security people. The beaches we were taken to during a tour were not usable by people with impairments. Once we returned to the ship we spoke to the agent in the area where people buy the tours and he said that beaches in Jamaica were bad. We got a call to the room from Royal Caribbean staff and they said that our comment was our perception of the beach. How is that our perception if a staff member that was there as an expert to sell tours to the travellers told us the beaches were bad? The solarium gets really hot and there is no shaded area. It has been the worst cruise. The ship is big and has plants etc. But it was a horrible cruise trip. the only good part was Mexico because we took a trip outside. Our guide his name was Santiago was the kindest person. Edwardo and Nestor our waitress in the main dinning room were the only good part of the cruise even though the food was bad. The selection in the windjammer was terrible and it was always filled with people impossible to find a table ( for example the ribs were dry and very hard to eat...it was awful). the embarkation was smooth; the disembarking was horrible.
